NOTES
Having trouble with your KJ6 ROM not sending long texts? Use the KG4 modem!
These files will NOT erase any of your data. You can flash these and continue using your ROM as normal.
You can flash these modems from any ROM/kernel combination (froyo or gingerbread). All you need to do is be able to get into download mode or CWM!
The all_modems_odin/cwm.7z files will always contain all the modems for your convenience.
ODIN INSTRUCTIONS
Learn how to flash files with Odin using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1001759
All files go into the PHONE section of Odin. Your Odin screen should look like this:
CWM/TWRP INSTRUCTIONS
Put your downloaded .zip file on your SD card, and flash using CWM/TWRP recovery!

great post! Definitely handy for all of us....
so if i'm on 2.3.4 i can use this to flash kc1? I was told that you can't unless you had a compatable kernel...
If i can this is the best news since GB, cause all gb modems suck for signal for me!!!!
You CAN flash to the KC1 modem from gingerbread, if that's what you're asking.
Updated OP to add a note that you can flash this from any ROM.
you are a wizard among apprentices.

SUPER HELPFUL, thanks!
Thanks! You just solved the only problem with using GB. I doubt my phone will ever see Froyo again.
Added a link to all the modems in one file in 7z format. It's compressed down to half the size, and it'll be a one file download.
Good work FB.
THANK YOU

Think it's better to odin the modem let it boot and settle before going back to red cwm and going from ICBINB to redux?
The kf2 modem doesn't reconnect very well after hitting a deadzone.
Kd1 was great.

Hey everyone! Just wanted to get a thread going with all the current modems to try out with your epic! Everyone's phone handles each modem differently so test them out and find out which one works best for you! For those that dont know, a modem effects 3g and 4g speeds as well as the cell signal of your phone handling phone calls and text messages (the bars ).
I did get this idea from Marcusant... I just have all four uploaded already so I figured I'd put this in a thread for everyone to be able to reference to!

I know for me, the EE03 ROM broke GPS and I couldn't get it to work at all. Then, I tried using just the modem & GPS still didn't work. I get so much better reception & 3G/4G speeds with that modem but my GPS didn't work. Any ideas on how I could fix it. I'm some what of a noob. I know how to flash different things & I know how to ODIN stuff... but not too much more.
Big thanks for this. Will make it way easier. I'm going to have a brash assumption here...once the GB drops and we have an available modem, will you post that up in the OP as well? Kind of like a running 'total' of sorts?
That would be magical...like unicorn magical.

I had to ODIN the stock tar for EC05
Then I booted, used gps status, reset a-gps, downloaded gps data and waited for a good lock (5-10 min)
then I flashed JUST the EE03 modem, booted and did all of the above again, THEN i flashed the rom i wanted to use, booted and did all of the above once more.

I have two questions I think I know the answedrs to but would like to ask.
1) are modems independant of sw version? In otherwords, can you flash di18 on a froyo setup, or a froyo modem on a gb rom. I think it doesn't matter but I have not heard of anyone flashing an eclair modem after they went to froyo.
2) I would love a way to capture imperical data (logging, maybe gps data) on how eafch works so I could make a call that is based on evidence rather than observation. I posted this and someone sugg3ested logcat....but I do not think it is the right tool for the job. Speedtest was also suggested but that is only a part of what is measured. Free is best cause I am cheap.
3) (yes I have a third now) I assume modems will affect wifi signal and gps reciept as well.is this true.
Great thread (and videos of fricking everything epic). Thanks.

To be honest, I have not seen anyone try the Di18 modem on a froyo setup. Not sure if that will work. But you can use any froyo modem on the current gingerbread leak.
As for capturing how well gps locks... You can try and stand in the same spot and run it a few times and see how fast it locks and get gps status from the market and see how many feet it locks you within.
Modem's will effect wifi and gps, that's why you can just do a speed test in the same spot to test. Do multiple to get accurate tests.
Thanks
Centralization. Nice!

Found another leak for the SGS4G. This one has a build date of 08/11.
I'm sure this fixes some issues that were found in KH1.
Same steps, Extract then ODIN to flash.
I'm sure a Deodexed version will come soon.

Well this doesn't come with bootloaders, so as long as you have the GB bootloaders from KG4 you should be gravy.
EDIT
People asking about wifi, I haven't flashed it. It's only been out for less than 2 hours.
Oh, this leak doesn't have bootloaders this time? That's really interesting...
Which was the latest GB release with bootloaders? I thought KH1 had them but now I'm not sure. Seems like there must be bootloaders out for KH2 somewhere. Where's krylon getting these releases from? The only Samsung site I know about is the one with source code on it.
I'm mistaken. This does have it. I didn't look at the right filenames
KF1 came with both boot.bin and sbl.bin, the primary and secondary bootloaders.
KG4,KG6,KH2 came with sbl.bin only, which modified recovery and download modes
Those are the only ones I have on my computer, but it looks like all the GB leaks came with at least a secondary bootloader, which is what you need.
Not sure where krylon is grabbing them from, but I'd guess he's got a URL that Kies might use to check for updates and grab files.

KG4 has the bootloaders in it.
Just did some testing. Wifi signal full, incoming calls don't get dropped, all show up on call logs, no force closes. I haven't tried restoring apps or data, and haven't tried the deodexer yet but this is going REALLY well.

Yeah you'd better disable it since this comes with a stock kernel which has no ext4 support. You can enable it again after you reflash the KG4 custom kernel with voodoo.
I just got ICBINB KH2 the way I want it.
I wonder if the changes are significant in this build to flash.
I still have MMS issues with KH1 though. I have to use handcent for it to work.
Stock EL30 packages
These packages will revert your phone to 100% stock EL30.
They contain the Stock system, stock kernel, stock recovery and stock bootlogo.
The packages will also wipe your data and cache partitions.
These packages do not contain a modem, because there is no flashable EL30 modem. If you want to get to the EL30 modem, see this thread.
Downloads
Stock EL30 Heimdall Package (MD5: CE8BF07CA73BE18E72E6EAE18916FBFB)
Requires Heimdall to flash.
Contains system,kernel,recovery,data,cache,param
Can be used to come back from MTD (Check "Repartition")
Does *NOT* contain a modem (there is no flashable EL30 modem.bin)
Stock EL30 ODIN Package (MD5:FD4F656BFE754E167B375EB8B01D9C88)
Execute ODIN, load *tar.md5 file into PDA slot and click "Start"
Contains system,kernel,recovery,data,cache,param
Can be used to come back from MTD (load included *.pit file and check "Repartition")
Does *NOT* contain a modem (there is no flashable EL30 modem.bin)
Notes
A great overview of how to use ODIN can be found here.
If flashing fails:
unplug cable
pull battery
re-enter download mode
plug cable back in/try a different cable/try and different usb port
try rebooting before repeating step 1-4 if flashing repeatedly fails

No. You need CWM recovery to flash non-official update.zip files. You can get CWM5 here.
Huge thanks to the many talented developers out there including (in no particular order) but not limited to:
chris41g, mkasick, Rodderik, nubecoder, earthbound, toadlife, thomasskull666, DRockstar, supercurio, Ezekeel, SenseiSimple, noobnl, xcaliburninhand, k0nane
See the feature table below the download section. I've maintained the same features in all the kernels (except where noted), so just download the corresponding kernel for your EL30 ROM and flash in CWM.
There seems to be some confusion around. Just because you are on the EL30 modem, does NOT mean you are on an EL30 ROM.
***This is the thread for the EL30 Shadow Kernels. If you need the EI22, CM7, or MIUI kernels, see this thread.***
**To help with bug posts, please state which kernel version and ROM you are running. Thank you.**

They'll be coming soon enough. I just didn't want them waiting on a kernel.
Made the mistake today thinking i could run the el30 hot spot hack just cause i had the modem. Had to pit back to ec05 to fix that mess. They cant come fast enough for me.

You need to stick with the other kernel thread for CM7 kernels. Link is provided above the downloads in the OP.

You're welcome. Caught me before I even had a chance to post it.
I have added an ODIN Tar to the OP. Works for anyone, but it's mainly for users on completely stock EL30, such as after the OTA update, or after using toadlife's ODIN packages. It will give you the Rooted EL30 ShadowKernel and CWM 5.0.2.7 all in one step.
This should be obvious, but DO NOT use if you are on an MTD ROM.

I just downloaded it fresh (dev-host sucks now) and reflashed it (I even flashed a different kernel first ) and I see it properly displaying Shadow-EL30-MTD_v3.0+OC.. so uh.. bad download? Were you on kernel v0.5 before flashing kernel v3.0?

Yup, definitely a bad download. I should have known since random's 3.4 gave me similar issues earlier thanks to dev host. Sorry, I have been doing some crazy multitasking between kids, setting up my brother in law's fascinate, and other distractions. I see the file was only 10kb now that I have a minute to breathe and focus on my rig again. Thanks for your always quick support. I'll get it to properly flash in a bit and throw you some feedback. Tomorrow is my first day off in 14 days, so I can give it a good run down. Totally forgot about this kernel untill today lol.

It seems like all dev-host files are only being downloaded as 10kb files when downloading on the phone. Must be due to the new page design or something. They seem to download fine from a computer. I will be moving away from dev-host if it stays like this.

As the title says this is the new v21y update rooted. You must have the march 2012 baseband or in call audio will not function properly.
Disclaimer:
Not responsible for anything that happens to your device. It is yours and you flash at your own free will.
ROM includes:
v21y 2.3.4 update
Root -unsecured boot.img
init.d support
deodexed (was already that way in the update)
zipaligned
I did not remove any of the bloatware in this version, you should know how to do that yourself.
Known issues..
If you do not have the march 2012 baseband in call audio WILL NOT WORK. You have to update the baseband.

Pulling the update only disenfranchises the unsophisticated G2X owners, those who only use "official" updating methods but it doesn't prevent anyone who takes the time and trouble of learning how to use other methods of updating. The v21y_00.kdz is still available directly from LG: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601918

This isn't a port though. The kernel version is the same as 2.3.3. So it might work might not. Things where definetly changed as far as proprietary files so kernel may be different too
