Hey,
Been getting great battery life on CM7, with texting, calls mostly, nothing extra.....
Just wanted to share.
I see it was put back on charger.....
Looks like it was charged from 30% to 75% halfway through.
Just noticed the spike up. How long was it on your charger?
it says 3day 13hrs but on battery it says 3d 11hrs right now
Well can you explain the spike? Induction charger? Bug? I've seen some custom battery drivers included with some kernels that make the battery level go up at times. That was after only a day of use, perhaps it evens and lengthens out over a period.

Spike is because it was charged.

hah massive fail
If the 2 hour charge was halfway through the graph then 41 hours(1 day 17 hours) before hitting ~30% is pretty impressive.

Not if he's using an extended life battery, which he didn't speficy either way. My 4500mah battery lasted 64 hours on a single charge and still had like 10% left before I put it on a charger.
G2X CM7
Its the default battery that comes with G2X
I also calibrated the battery using the app in market, which seems to be giving pretty good battery nowadays.
Hmmm, I am not sure about the charge, I dont remember I charged it, might be when I was transferring stuff to phone using usb, which shouldnt been that long.....
Anyway, just wanted to share that getting good battery nowadays....thats the main point wanted to share

I'm going to try to purchase my Nexus S before class tomorrow when they open. Don't want to take any chances on it selling out. Would it be wise to turn it on and use it a while during the morning? Or does the battery need to be fully charged before using it to condition it and ensure a good battery life? I've read many battery tips but i'm still a little confused on whats better for a new battery.

When you get it, deplete it, but do not let it die. Ever. Then just cycle it normally.

What do you mean by "die".... like to 0%, if so what should we take it down to?

Yes, by letting your battery "die", per se, you're letting it deplete to 0%. I'd say for safe measure, between 5%-9%. But if you're in the vicinity of a charger take it down to 2%. If not, turn it off at 5%, then plug it in before powering it back on. My devices' daily life lasts so long (on all devices I own) because I properly know how to cycle a battery.
If you let your battery die (0%), it'll lose more and more charge (on a 0.00% level) every time. When you get it tomorrow though, it should have ~50%-60% charge.

Battery life?
So how are your batteries doing? Mine is kind of crappy. What supposedly changed in 2.3? I see no difference in the reporting of apps in Battery Use and they took away Battery History in the hidden system settings. Where is the graph everyone talked about?
You gotta give it a few charging cycles for the battery to reach it's full potential. Give its few days, you'll notice it will get better after you charged it a few times.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
The battery life on mine is chugging along pretty well. I gave it a full charge before hitting the streets. Its been 4 hours with wifi and GPS on with a couple dozen pictures taken and a bunch of apps dl and installed. used maps 5.0 and periodically hit the GPS for my position getting really good accuracy while driving and the battery level still has a little more than 4/5s battery life still remaining

That's funny because every company that sells back up batteries tell you to go through 4-5 full cycles before it reaches its potential. I guess you're right, and they're all wrong.

Battery
how do I train my battery it was halfway charged when i got it do I let it die and then put it on the charger thanks!
EDIT:WRONG SECTION DELETE THIS MODS!
I've always charged all the way up then ran the battery all the way down, then charged all the way up again. Then periodically, I will run the battery all the way down just to give it a little exercise. So far out of all the cell phones I have had I have had 1 battery go bad on me, that was 8-10years ago.
Battery
how do I train my battery it was halfway charged when i got it do I let it die and then put it on the charger thanks!
matter of opinion really.... I would kill it by playing with it.... then do a full charge
that is what I am doing
Generally the suggested method is to charge it for 8-12 hours as soon as you can, then use it until it gets very low, then charge for another 8-12 hours. Do this cycle about 3 to 4 times and you've got yourself a healthy battery.
Killing the battery entirely, despite popular belief, can have some negative effects on its health. Especially during is conditioning phase.

Yep, me too. One thing I have noticed about batteries (cheap extra ones or the originals) is that if they give any kind problem I clean the contacts. I use the pointy end of a penknife or similar to carefully scrape the surface clean. same goes for both the phone and charger contacts.

Anyone got more info? Just bought this battery for thr o3x.

Is this battery safe for the phone
Is this battery safe for the phone circuit? I mean damage caused by over current or over voltage? Does the battery comes with any warranty? Definitely the battery warranty should not cover damage caused by battery to the phone? I do not want to put my phone in risk for just some extra time.

Don't know if I just got a bad battery or what, but I bought one of these and the battery life is aboslutely terrible. I put it in the phone, left it switched off and charging for a solid 8 hours, then tried to use it. With Bluetooth on, WiFi off and the phone just sitting in standby it barely lasted 6-7 hours before I was getting battery warnings. I let it charge up again, thinking it might take a few charges/discharges for the battery to work correctly, but the next discharge was even shorter!
Did you wipe your battery stats when you changed for different sized batteries ?
I got my anker battery two months ago and now its starting to drain fast my stock battery last longer so should I buy another or see if anker would replace it for me

Anker will replace it for you. They're very good about that, as far as I've heard.
It is possible that you could've gotten a bad battery...
Make sure to check it's not your rom or any app you've recently installed.
Case in point, I installed Pulse reader on my phone and have it refresh every hour. Battery life plummeted from 20hrs to about 12hrs

You're better off buying the Anker two-pack. It's so bad I won't even burden anyone else with it.
Use the ankers by charging them in the standalone wall charger, never plug in your phone except for emergencies.
Make sure you are fully charging the batteries and then fully draining them. I get 30+ hours on each battery. If you repeatedly charge your phone for an extra 10% at a time(like when you use a car charger for the ride to your destination), you ruin the battery.

I just plug my phone in @ night when I go to sleep. I am usually at about 15-30% left by then. I think you Probably need to recalibrate you battery. Oh and if you change roms a bunch make sure you are fully charged before you change. It helps.

Quite the contrary actually. Li-ion batteries can be charged for any periods of time. Charge cycles depend on how many times they go through 100% collectively (i.e. 50% today + 50% tomorrow = 1 cycle)
Although I will admit, rapidly charging the battery for short amounts of time successively (car charger) has thrown off the calibration for me. The 75% I have when I get to my destination isn't really the 75% I would get charging from home. A simple reboot corrects the discrepancy.

I have a cheapo Amazon "3500mah" battery which after testing turned out to be only a little over 2000 mah however the Anker batteries appear to not bullsh¡t about their numbers so I would say using logic and past experience that it would be legit and worth it if you want the extra junk in your trunk ( or pocket)

Don't be quick to be hating on the bohemoth.
I have found that when you first get a new battery there is a "break in" period. Not that this time will make any difference in performance long term but it normally takes a few charges or even as many as 10 to reach its peak mah capacity.
This has been documented on a few threads in this forum.

Yup. Will do. I've seen a lot of people talk up battery monitor widget, so I installed it on my current battery to get used to how it works and so I have some old data to compare to.
I also started using Juice Defender. Hopefully that doesn't skew the data. Well, I guess technically it doesn't matter as long as it skews it the same way.
Anyway, Amazon currently estimates a Wednesday - Thursday arrival date of next week. I'll update asap!

I charged to 100 yesterday, and it's been running for the last 23 ½ hours, and it's at 40% currently. I've been using the hell out of it too just trying to kill it: Draw Something, Defender, texts, google chats, email, WiFi on all the time (but again, JD is running).
It's obviously bottom-heavy now with this beast in it, so that's taking some getting used to. I actually like it when the phone is being held vertically, but it kind of drives me crazy when I'm holding it horizontally. I'm sure I'll get used to it.
One thing that screws with all my plans - LG released 2.3.4 update yesterday too before I knew this battery was here, so I unrooted, flashed the updated and re-rooted. I'm now running 2.3.4 stock/root rather than my EB AOSP ISC ROM I was running before. I thought I'd have 3-4 days before the battery was here.
Anyway, more updates as I manage to kill this thing and see how it goes.
EDIT - going to bed. 29 and a half hours into first charge, at 30% currently. Will update tomorrow after work, once I 0 it out and recharge.
EDIT - 44 hours on first charge, almost exactly. Monday night at 7:47 to Wednesday afternoon at 3:51. Starting charge up now.
EDIT 3 - Uploading some usage photos. I think I'm an idiot when it comes to Battery Monitor Widget. Frankly most of this just doesn't mean anything to me, and the place I think I should see mAh estimate shows nothing. Anyway, this is normal daily usage - mostly some chatting, email, WiFi (because work appears to be build in some kind cellular Faraday Cage), lots of Draw Something, Temple Run and Defender 2. For some reason Defender doesn't show up.
Edit 4 - These screens were taken at 6%, and it easily could have lasted more time. I just wanted to charge it up and be done for the night.
Anyway, after a week or so of using this, I think it's a solid battery, but one that I'll probably pack away as a spare for weekend trips when I don't have access to a charger. I have dedicated chargers at home and work, so battery life isn't much of a concern.
For $12 I got this battery, a free USB "universal" card reader, and very fast shipping. Totally worth it.
Sounds really promising so far. The thickness is about identical to the 3500mAh one I got, but the Anker seems to outperform the GTMax so far if I compare your experience to mine.
How's the temperature? Is there a sensor?

Battery Monitor Widget measures the temperature, though I don't know how accurate it is.
I've not seen it pass 26 degrees. Stock was running 34.5 degrees when I popped it out.
Yeah I know BMW measures temp, but when you look at the graph does it show any fluctuation at all? BMW gets the temperature information from the battery's built-in temperature sensor. If it doesn't have one, all the graph will show is a straight line.
This GTMax battery gets pretty warm. Especially when charging. I'm charging it right now and the temperature is about 41C... which is hotter than the stock.
I'm definitely leaning towards this anker battery now

Right on yeah I'm a big jd fan too. Pisses me off from time to time but the 1.7x battery life is totally worth it for me. As far as I have seen there is no interference between jd and bmwp thanks for the update

Those estimates aren't correct. My JD was telling me 1.9x battery, but I stopped using it and my battery lasts longer because the phone doesn't wake up every thirty minutes.

Had my baby for a little over a year and a half, been nothing but a great phone in that time. This is where the problem starts... I'll be using it like normal, texting and surfing, and will have 98% battery, the phone will shut down, and when it decides to start back up, I will have 14% battery or less.... But it will go up if I leave it alone..... I've tried wiping the battery stats, even charging with the phone off, nothing is working. I will attach screenshots so you can see what's up.

Your battery is bad. Same thing happened to me, I recommend just buying a new OEM battery from a reputable dealer on Amazon, that's what I did. Try setting it down on a table and push on one side and if it rocks back and forth its bad. Or you can just look at it and see its swollen
Mine did that and it was just a bad battery. If you take the battery out and place it on a flat surface you may notice that it rocks left and right. If it rocks a lot or if you feel the middle and it feels swollen it may be symptoms of a bad battery.

Same thing has been happening to me for the past two days. I just took out my battery and sure enough it is swollen. Thanks for input!
edit: Is it dangerous to keep using it like this for the next few days until the new battery comes in?

It is dangerous because battery acid can get on you and cause sever skin irritation. You can continue like this for 1 to 2 days MAX until you get your new battery. Try not to use it because using it more will cause it to swell more, DUH try to only use it for emergencies and then once you get the new battery clean the terminals and you'll be good to go
I used mine got a while like that because i didn't know it was the battery lol

Thank you all, I wasn't sure what it was cause I can still pull over a day of battery life when it wants to lol. Looks like I'm on the hunt for a new one

I'm curious about charging habits of the people who have bad batteries. I have had my phone since the day it came out and my battery is still fine. I never let it get below 30% unless I'm testing a new ROM. Killing lithium ion batteries is really bad for them. So how many of you drain it all the way on a regular basis?
I'm still using my old vibrant battery (at times). I don't think that it's as strong as the spare that I purchased a few months ago, but, is on par with the 18 month old battery that came with the phone. I zap them all the way down a lot of the time (then swap to a fully charged one). I do(try) to recharge to full before use though.
Mine does it but only when I'm using wifi or data could that still be a bad battery

I run mine down to 1 percent on a daily basis. Never let it die though. I was under the impression that if you let it drain to zero you're asking for trouble. I could easily change my ways though.

Hechoen.......I use mine till under 10% or so and then full charge it. Been doing that over a year now. My wife however plugs hers in off and on throughout the day without letting it full charge all at once and she has a bad battery....

Shallow discharge cycles are generally accepted to be better for Li-ion batteries than deep ones.

That is probably a bad idea. I would try to plug it in around 15-20% with 20% being the best time. According to the batteryuniversity website 20-80% is ideal for li-ion batteries because it keeps the heat down. Charging from less than 15% creates heat because that is a low level and takes a bit longer to charge from therefore exposes the battery to more heat. A good charger and battery will shut off the charger once it hits 100% and only allow for a trickle charge if the battery drops below 100%. But I have seen my phone get hotter from about 85% to 100% if Im using it ie: plugged in and streaming music or using navigation.
