I just got the G2X and the lag on the camera when taking a picture is HORRIBLE ! It takes 5 seconds or more to take the picture after i push the button. In that time my son has already zoomed through thte house lol . Is this normal for this p0hone? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated .

The button is so freaking sensitive. Camera took 186 pictures of my ceiling last night while I was sleeping because the pillow on the seat barley touched it. Last night I put my feet on the table and from the vibrations the camera turned on and took pictures. One point it came on and I switched to video camera to see what it's doing, and with out pressing the button the video camera would start and stop recording. I got the phone yesterday :-( I put on the pattern lock to stop it somehow but the screen still turns on and I know from my G2 that it will kill the battery no matter what you do on Android. Any help?

Interesting...I haven't had this issue with the camera button.
Sent from my HTC Doubleshot using xda premium
oright cool, thanks guys. Thought it was the whole "phone built around the camera" concept that they thought it was a good idea to be able to take picture quickly. Thanks guys.
Yeah, there's definitely something wrong with your phone.
One of the MyTouch 4Gs issues is one of it's features..
you can activate the camera, even with the screen locked by holding down the shutter button. Sure it's good for those quick shots, but it's giving you an issue.
However to have a button that sensitive is not normal, please return it and get yourself one that works.
OP, just to be clear, which button are you referring to when you say, the camera button?Do you mean the silver one on the bottom right side of the phone?
Yeah I hardly touched it and it would start the camera. I'm back to using my G2 till T-Mo loyalty sends me another new one. Thanks for the help guys.
Whenever I try to use the camera on my rooted Evo 4G I just get a black screen and have to press the home key to get out of it. My ex-boyfriend put a new ROM on the phone about a month ago then put a kernel on it a couple days later because the buttons were freaking out (randomly clicking, freezing up, etc). The rest of the ROM is working great, just can't get the camera to load. I've tried rebooting the phone and leaving the battery out for over 20 minutes (I've read that that fixed the issue for some people) but don't know what else to do. I'd really like to avoid doing a factory reset so I don't lose everything (if there's a way to avoid this I'd love to know). With 'ex' being the very, very operative word in ex-boyfriend, I would really appreciate some help with this as I can't have him fix it like I normally would. Thanks so much!
i am having a blurry camera after installing a ROM
Hi guys, im new to sony xperia z1. Bought it recently. So far im loving it but one problem I have is the camera is tooo slow... friend's phone (iphone6) takes pictures really fast, the moment u press the button u take a picture, so u can press the button like 5 times in 2 seconds and take 5 pics.
With z1 however once I press it, it takes like 2 secs to autofocus before taking picture.. Is there an app to fix this?

This depends on the camera sensor in your phone, you cant make it work faster with an app.
Ofcourse you can speedup the camera opening progress but so far i know, not the speed of taking pictures.
U have try hold the camera button?
U can also use lower resolution
like 2 or 5
Try timeshift burst..

This is because in iphone, the camera is continuously auto focusing, and retaining that focus even after you have taken the pic, while on stock android camera, the camera resets the focus point to infinity after each pic.
If you are lucky, you may find a camera app on google play which may overcome this limitation.
hi guys , i noticed theres wavy lines across the camera viewfinder upon starting the camera app. but they only appear for one or two seconds tops (when the camera does its first autofocus) and then disappears.
am i just being paranoid?

Are you under bright or indoor lighting conditions when it happens? How long does it happen for? Usually that sort of thing is affected by bright indoor light sources etc.

yes im indoors. there's a ceiling light (the long tube one idk what it's called) above me. my room is dark on one side and bright on the other because i only switched on one of the lights.
another case is when im at a shop. the shop was brightly lit and the lines appear too..
it happens when the camera does its first autofocus. probably 1second more or less
I had this happen to me a couple of times in the past week. Each time, I woke my phone up and double-tapped the home button to launch the camera and saw the whole picture jiggling around like a funhouse mirror. I would then exit the camera and go back in and it was fine. I don't know if it was from launching too quickly, or what, but it scared the crap out of me. I was outdoors in bright light each time it happened.
This happened to me a couple more times yesterday. In both cases, I hurriedly woke the phone up and launched the camera. In both cases, the camera was fuzzy/shaky, and the phone actually made a strange white-noise sort of sound.
I tried to shoot a box in a dark room using night mode, that took 7 seconds, no way I can keep my hands steady for that long, maybe I am getting a bit too old. The pictures still turned out sort of okay with the usual blurriness. As for outside the trees are no longer looking like they were painted when zooming in, still too much blur going on though. Need to buy an easy portable stand for my phone.
Actually using normal mode for night pictures, they look extremely authentic and surprised at the good quality. Anyway, can you guys keep your hands steady or are you using gadgets when using night mode?
Well, image stabilization helps a bit, but same here, I can't get sharp images by holding a phone for few seconds for sure.
how is it taking you 7 secons, timed it at 3.5 or 4 seconds
