That's odd. I always had the March 21st Baseband...I think.
Looks like you updated either through the LG tool or OTA, and restored a froyo nandroid, no?
Flashing roms and restoring nandroids doesn't restore basebands as far as I know... we're still waiting on flashable zips.
Nop..I used lg update tool. Didn't like not having root access so I nvflash and restored back to froyo. The basebands remain the same for some reason.

Errr... did you not read my post at all?? That's exactly what I said you did... you're post is almost identical to mine except for the unwarranted "nope" in front.
If you use the update tool or OTA and then flash or restore back to froyo, the baseband DOES NOT get restored.

You have to flash a new baseband to change the baseband. So far no one has posted the basebands to flash. The LG tool changed it and for now there is no going back.
july 15 is the new baseband .. looks like u already had it..

The july 15th is the newest baseband that is included with the update.
if you do ota or the lg tool it will change the baseband .
custom roms do not change the baseband.
So if you installed from lg than went to any other rom you will still have the july 15th baseband.
if you install the GB update from xda either of the rooted ones from froyo without ever installing from lg or ota. you would have the newest build for the gingerbread update but your baseband would still be the original that came with the phone.
It is the practice that custom roms do not touch the baseband. not sure if anyone has ever included the baseband with a custom rom but i have not seen it.
hope this explains it.

Not trying to be mean too. But have you downloaded the file? If you did downloaded it, have you extracted the contents? If you did extracted the contents, can you let us know how to flash those BIN files?
That is the stock unrooted firmware. Just reading the last few posts on the thread looks like how to reflash stock hasn't been discovered yet.. at the same time you can unroot with superoneclick the do a factory reset with volume down and power button.. that should be "stock".. stock froyo should be 60-75mb as far as any mods by LG.. idk.. wouldn't think it would make it 500mb (lil over actually I downloaded it a couple days ago just to have it around). But this really should be in general.. if your having a problem ask.. there is a lot of great minds willing to help..

Yes that is the stock unrooted firmware. But it contains BIN files. One is the baseband which is flashable via Smartflash. I tried extracting files out of the bigger BIN file via ExtractNow and also mounting it via Virtual Clone Drive but it didn't work.
I've already asked paulobrien to make an NVFlash stock rom release for the G2X much like the one he did for the O2X (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1007825). But he hasn't replied yet.
If I know the odmdata value and the android_fastboot_emmc_full.cfg, I would have done it myself.

Yea same thing here with me I've asked Paul to help with nvflash commands but no answer back yet. Im one of those that can benefit from this right now as my phone in a boot loop, But all of us will benefit from this sonner or later. After flashing ex amount of roms and themes its always good to go back to stock and start flashing from a stock build.

Somehow I figured out a way to get the update. What I did was to download a nandroid backup here on the XDA site. Restored it then installed the 2.3.4 rooted rom I got off the XDA site. Wammo update installed. It seemed a whole lot easer than the other ways I read about doing it. Thanks XDA and members.

Ics??? More info?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Yes, please clarify! Are you saying that the Atrix 2 has some form of ICS? Did you pull it from Cheesecake, or...?
As to how to root it just trial and error. I'm not sure if Motofail (our 2.3.6 exploit) would still work. It's worth a try though. One sure way to root is to downgrade GB, root it, edit your /system/bin/mount_ext3.sh, then update.
Released today. android version 4.04 MB865
system version 67.21.113
I just checked motos web site and it says nothing about a new update. How do we get ahold of this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Released but not to the public ....(it will leak however anytime)
Tried all the exploit methods but nothing works
We can't help with root when nobody else has the firmware itself. It would be nice to know how and where you got it.
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now . Please could you upload a screenshot of the "about phone" part of the settings menu?
Anyways, on to rooting. It's possible that no exploits at the moment will work. A couple you might want to try that I've found after a quick google search :
-TPSparkyRoot probably won't work
-Mempodroid (find the offsets with n95-offsets) also probably won't work
-RootICSRazr
How exactly did you recieve this firmware? Was it as an update.zip, fxz, or did you recieve the phone with it?
Yes please.... More Info!!!!!
Thank you!

It is safe. Has to be locked and on stock recovery with all stock apps intact. Will lose root and maybe wipe Internal SD. Not sure. Have never taken an OTA on any device.

Most of the TW ROMS are pretty stable. Some of the others have various problems, read in the 2 dev sections about each ROM and it will tell you what is broken. I know, that is alot of reading. But, think of it this way, if you break your phone, that will (should) cost you at least $60 for jtag service. If you read, you can see if you even want to try the ROM. There could be bugs with it that you can't live with. Then again, there could be bugs that you could.

Ric is mainly a themer not a dev (atleast he points tha out a lot) plus he is busy with life just like bduv
Then figuring that the sidekick is unique to the point that there are 2 leds a key board an the keypad / track pad this make an issue of being a 100 percent update as a lot of stuff may be missing or gone (play store will need to pick up the 2.3.3)
Its a lot of issues for noobs so to speak to use the rom which is why its not released for downloads cuz someone won't read an just update
