[Q] Wich SBF can i flash.. everything fails - Defy Android Development

i had some issues with flashing my Defy..
i started with Pays-Rom, wich was working quite wel for some time and but got a little slow and i wanted to upgrade to CM7.
then it al went wrong, i don't know what i did, but i didn't get anything but black screen and white led.
so i tried the JORDN_U3_97.21.51. and it worked
from there i couldn't flash anything... and i tried this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...&postcount=143
this worked.. and i even got CM7 to run, and MUI aswell
but... lots of force closes and it didn't run so stable..
then i installed like 3 programs, and i got a memory full warning.
then i noticed i only had 128mb internal memory.
and every other SBF i tried to flash i just get a black screen and that white led again..
so does anyone know which SBF would work? or what i can do??
i olso read this thread.. to i know i'm not the only one..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1162464

make shure u have the latest drivers instaled on your comp, i ues rsd lite 4.9 coz the newer versions fail to flash
do a stock recovery wipe (hold vol down and power, then when the little android guy apears with the exclamation mark hold both the vol up and down at the same time) chose wipe data/cache and select with power
now go to stock bootloader (vol up+power) connect to the pc with the usb cable (make shure u have at least 30%+ of the battery)
flash 2.2.2 cee from here
it should work...i hade it in soft brik myself and that worked

nice,
gonna try it tomorrow!
and if it's not working.. i'll just bring it back to the shop with the black screen and see what they do about it

nope... full sbf not flashing, again just the black screen and white led..
trying somethinge else now..
but i think i'm just gonna give it back to the shop..
or does someone else know something else i can try?

Make sure RDSlite flash with no error prompting, otherwise you might need to flash it on another PC. And you would need to clear data/cache after the full flash too.

I'd also like to know whats up with the low internal memory? I have this issue also.

You may try flash the full sbf, with linux, is better, is easy, and very friendly. I tried it using a VM with VMWare and works nice.

hi
i have the same problem with my defy,it happend after i flashed the "[FLASH_SBF] 2.3.4 для Defy - 134 "
then i flash the JORDN_U3_97.21.51 and the miui rom ,it succeded but the internal memory of my device is 129 mb instead of 1.12 gb

gsmarti hard reset... power cut off

I was flashing my gsmarti's ROM this morning... I follow all the steps and it is successfully go into the "flashing environment"... Unfortunately, the process stuck at the beginning... and suddenly, it turn off itself... then, I cant switch on my phone anymore... and I dont even get the static Gigabyte screen as well...
Is there any solution to this?
Thank you!
Do you know where to find the Rom Upgrade Utility for your phone?
If you go to your carrier's website and log into it, do you by any chance have a downloadable file that will restore your phone to its factory settings?
There's also many different GSmart models .. which one do you have?
I looked up Gsmart phones, and their support site has firmware upgrades listed for some of their phones .... see if you're is listed.
http://www.gigabytecm.com/eng/gbc_supportcategory.aspx?sid=7&tabIndex=3
Thank for you reply =)
Actually i am using gsmart i (64)... and i have the latest firmware with me...
Because this device is using POCKET GHOST to restore and backup the system...
as i mentioned earlier... my "flashing" process is stuck at the beginnig... so, in my opinion, i think the pocket ghost has been deleted and i cant do the flashing anymore... is it true?
If it run's Windows Mobile ... you should be able to run the RUU at the bootloader screen....
As far as how do you get into the bootloader on your phone ... I have no idea.... on mine, I soft reset while holding the camera button in and keeping the camera button held in until the bootloader screen comes up which looks something like this (note i just randomly found this pic on google images)

Hi... thank you ya...
but i am still stuck in the black screen...
and i cant find any way to access into the bootloader...
i am searching the other sites... and i came across this:
they said if anything goes wrong during "flashing", the ROM will be locked...
is that true?
and one more thing, the bootloader, is it almost same as the bios (cmos) of
our pc?
and for your information... a lot of people are having the same problem...
thx thx... appreciate!! =)
Is this the bootloader?
Yep, that is our bootloader for the Gsmart series. On the i300 its accessed by pressing the red phone, green phone and power buttons at the same time.
If you want to change your ROM then you need to load the new version to your SD card (and I think it needs to be the only contents on the card).

I don't use RSD (I could never get it to work at all so I use sbf_flash on linux, {sbf_flash possibly works on MacOS now, too}), but I've seen a number of recent posts saying that there are problems on some version of Windows 7 and that finding a 32-bit XP seems to work in the end.
I have vista 32 bit has always worked ... I do not know what to do .... it was turned on again but turns off immediately

What turns on and off (I assume the phone)?
Could it be that the battery is drained? That's what it sounds like to me. There's a real problem with the battery not charging as fast as it drains in both recovery and bootloader. Since the phone autoboots at minimal stored power (unless you use shutdown from the booted phone's power menu) it can get into a vicious cycle when the system doesn't boot. Sometimes watching the phone like a hawk and pulling the battery immediately when it starts to boot works to keep it from booting for a little bit. It happened to me again this weekend and I just broke down and ordered a stand-alone battery charger. Hopefully that will help next time...

HELP! Motoroi stuck in boot...

I hadn't even loaded a ROM but I was using Clockworkmod to format my SD card. It rebooted and when it started up again, I got this screen.

It won't stop this even with the hard reset... any ideas?
Clockwork does work for our (720) phones. Not sure about 701's but try these. Put your SDcard in your PC and format it all to Fat32 and wipe all Clockwork material from it. Thus making a clean slate. Then if you are partitioning your card you can use Minitool Home Partition Wizard and it will work for you or you can use GParted. I like Minitool bc it preserves the data on the partition is you want to resize it later on.
Install Open Recovery or Androidiani Open Recovery 3.3 (search google for downloads) follow instructions on installing and viola there you have it.
Once those are installed and partitioned all you'll have to do to get into recovery is hit power and when Motorola M shows up, press and hold Volume up.
I read somewhere on XDA that clockwork fails to distinguish between sd card and internal memory and might partition phone's internal memory. Though bug was fixed on version 3.0.2.6 or higher. Next time to be on a safer side partition it using Linux/windows/mac.
Have you tried reflashing it with RSDLite? It might give your phone a life!
My computer doesn't recognize the phone at all and I can't get past that screen I posted. I can't boot into recovery mode and I can't do a hard reset... I think I got a brick

That screenshot looks like a crashed OpenRecovery. Try using Motorola's recovery. I'm not sure if Motoroi is different, but this is how you enter Motorola recovery on Milestone XT720: https://motorola-global-en-aus.cust...one-xt720---master-reset-/-factory-data-reset
Can you get to the bootloader (power off, hold volume up+camera while powering on)? If so, all you have to do is flash a stock SBF using RSD lite or sbf_flash. You have to try really, really hard to permanently brick these phones.
Finally got it working... thanks everyone

[Q] Black screen with mobile to computer

Well, I hope someone can help me.
A few hours ago, I tried to root my phone with the cf root for Kpn but it got stuck on param on Odin.
I removed the usb, and it gave me this mobile to computer on the screen. Anyone can tell me what to do to get my phone back? thx
Dont panic remove the battery and try getting into download mode and flash either XXKB3 or XXKPE
If you are not able to get into download mode try getting into recovery and wipe data and cache and then try again to get into download mode
Are you talking about this Screen?

If you see the Black Screen of Death I found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=15330252
But first of all I would try to get back into Download Mode and flash the last complete ROM (not an update) with pit, bootloader, pda and so on. For example XXKPE
Didn't ever faced this problem. I'm not sure if I really helped with this.
I had experience this. can you get into the download mode by pressing 3combination button(menu, volume down and power button)? Try it as many as you can until it can go to the download mode and then flash the stock froyo that can be downloaded here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1004647
If you cannot get into download mode, you can try this -
1.) Take off your back cover, remove your sim & mirco sd card.
2.) Remove your battery.
Make sure you have Odin OPEN with admin privileges!
Make sure you have the USB plugged into your PC but NOT your phone!
3.) Hold the volume buttons.
4.) Put the battery in.
5.) Put the USB in.
Continue holding the volume keys & you should pop into DOWNLOAD mode within a few seconds.
Thanks to Master.
Thank you a lot
That was the screen I saw Taraen.. I got scared for a while.
I removed my battery and inserted it and then went to download mode.
Flashed it again but my battery is completely low.
It seems ok for the moment. I hope it won't restart by itself :/
Thanks a lot to all of you who posted to help me

Cannot get Odin to recognize Captivate...

I have 2 different Captivates (ZX and 10/10). I think one might be a refurbished one based on the sticker, but I cannot figure out which one is which. This might be irrelevant, but I have read on the Googles that some versions do not flash well or at all... again, I could be wrong.
Here is a pic of the 2 phones side by side with their labels

The first step is to flash a new kernel with Odin. I installed the Win7 x64 drivers and there are no errors in Device Manager.
Here are the steps I take to *attempt* to get Odin 1.81 to see the Captivate:
1. Open Odin as Administrator
2. Plug USB cable into laptop USB port
3. Hold Vol up/down on Captivate and plug in USB cable.
Windows will give me the beep that confirms the device is plugged in and ready, but I get nothing in Odin in the COM section on the top left.
I tried both Captivates with the same results. Swapped out USB cables and ports, deleted drives and re-installed them.
I am up the creek without a paddle on this one...
[edit] Resolved! Had to reboot it 2 times and everything loaded just fine!
Hit the link in my sig, then look for Connection Issues. Hit that link.
Awesome!
I changed the USB port ID and now it see's the captivate!
Now I have a bigger problem...
I followed this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1127249
I got the zImage to flash just fine, rebooted, put in Download mode and flashed kernelKF1.tar.
WHen the phone boots, I get this
I can put it back in Download Mode, but CWM is not installed... Reflash the same file? MD5 checksums after the download were good, so the file should not have been corrupted.
U need the GB Bootloaders... See here... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129821
In order to run a Gingerbread Rom u need the GB Bootloaders. The Froyo/Eclair Bootloaders were different.
**Edit: U should have not run into this problem if u flashed the whole i897uckf1 firmware.
U must have just flashed the FugRoot Kernel then kf1 kernel.
Download from the DOWNLOAD LINK in big letters that is in that OP to get the whole kf1 rom, that does as well contain the gb bootloaders and then u can do the fuguroot method again to get root.
Score! THank you!! I installed it and I have CWM!!
[edit]
At this point, I want to flash this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1093696
In particular, I want the Captivate Touch, Cognition Edition v3.1 version. I followed the link to install the ROM.
I can assume that the link you gave me above gets me past Step 1. I did step 2 via CMW and installed the kernel listed there and rebooted.
Step 3 is where I am getting hung up. Obviously I replace the Congnition v5 with the one from the previous thread (Captivate Touch).
I booted into CWM and installed it, no errors and when I reboot, I get stuck at the AT&T screen...
What the hell am I doing wrong here???
[edit 2] I forgot to mention I did a wipe and cleared the Dalvik cache
