Xoom in bad shape all of the sudden - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

all my apps started foce closing and now I cant do a data wipe from ether the CWM or the settings menu. What do I do now?

Try 2-3 reboots, I had similar problems plus no wifi or 3g.

Try going into CWM and hitting 'fix permissions'

I tried both of those idea with little success. The problem seems to center around the youtube cash. When I try to wipe data the error days that it failed to wipe data /data / com.android.YouTube.cash????? Something like that. I tried deleting it with root explorer but it comes back

Also this all started when the doom crashed while watching youtube

so I found the exact file that is keeping me from doing a data wipe. it is: /data/data/com.google.android.youtube/cashe-1555452648
Things I have tried:
*fix permisions in CWM
*data wipe (factory reset) in both the settings menu and CWM
*format data in CWM
*wipe cashe partition in CWM
*reflash rom in CWM
*reflash CWM it self
*I have tried to delete the cashe folder using root explorer (it says its deleted but on a refresh it comes back
*I have tried changing the permissions using root explorer and then deleting (or formatting data) didn't work
*I tried renaming the file and then formatting data and so on
I have tried all of these multiple times in multiple combinations and I am running out of ideas

Have you tried uninstalling the YouTube app?
Also, "all of the sudden"... Seriously?

I did, well kind of. I renamed it with root explorer, after everything crashed like crazy i re flashed rom and tried deleting it with root explorer, same result. I tried to remove it wil Adb but it wouldn't work at all

well since I couldn't think of any other way, I flashed back to stock 3.0 and then updated to rooted 3.2 again

[Q] Solved - Help: all downloads are unsuccessful

Help...no matter which rom i try i cant get any downloads to work...sorry, let me clarify...my market downloads work fine but any downloads form the web fail.
Any thoughts on what to change to fix this? it wasnt always this way...i dont know whats changed that crosses roms.
Solved:
It appears two be a two part issue, some of it is the Download Manager and at least part of the issue was with the Calibre App i was trying to DL from. Specifically, I was accessing the Calibre net share component. When a password is set on the share the gtab download manager is unable to correctly request downloads. I removed the uid/pwd and downloads work again. With the uid/pwd in place logs show an http 401 error.
Now to determine why...
In recovery are you wiping everything? Cause that was my issue at first and I was crossing roms lol

I had the same issue when I tried the notion adam browser.
I just reapplied my rom.

When you say you wiped cache and stuff, did you wipe user data as well? If so, then that would explain why Titanium can't see your previous backup (It stores it in internal storage by default).
If that is the case, and you have wiped the data partition, your best bet would be to start over and reload your ROM from scratch.

As long as Darkeyce didn't perform a NVIDIA flash or repartition the drive, the backup data should still be there. I've loaded many custom roms by wiping cache and data (factory reset), and all I had to do was reinstall Titanium Backup and restore my apps.
I had the same problem yesterday on my Vegan GTab. GMail wouldn't work either, and my Nook app wouldn't sync with my online account. I didn't try any fix but after shutting down the device last night, I fired it up this morning and everything was working fine.

[Q] Tapatalk not saving images to SD Card

I posted this in the EVO forum already to no avail, but here is what is happening.
I have an HTC Evo 4G running stable CM7. When I try to save an image thru tapatalk, it says saved successfully, but then I cannot find it on my SD Card. It doesn't show up in the "tapatalk_download" folder when I look thru root explorer and it does not show up in Gallery either. Here is what I have tried so far to fix this and none have worked:
1. Clear application data for Tapatalk
2. Uninstall, cache and dalvick cache wipe, reinstall Tapatalk
3. Change download folder thru Tapatalk settings to another folder
4. Uninstall, delete "tapatalk_download" folder, complete wipe, reflash rom, reinstall Tapatalk
5. Restore backup from a few weeks ago when everything was working
None of these solved the problem. It is like Tapatalk is saving the image, but just not saving it to the correct folder. After I try to save, I go in to Gallery and there is a blank folder called "sdcard" that wasn't there before the save from Tapatalk, but there is nothing in the folder, only a blank picture.....
I am stumped.....Let me know if you guys have any ideas.
No help?

Viper rom app problem

Today I tried to install viper rom. before I did that, I made a backup of my current axiom s rom using twrp. I also used titanium backup to move apps to sd card beforehand cuz I didn't want to reinstall everything. When installing viper I chose the full wipe option. When I rebooted I noticed that phone was stuck on an endless black screen, so I restored with my last backup. problem is now even with the backup I don't have any apps in my app drawer except stock rom apps! I installed a file explorer and noticed app data still present. my question is is there any way to restore these apps?
app icons are still on my home screen launcher bt when I press them they say "application not installed". When I try to reinstall using an apk, it asks me if I want to overwrite. This means the app is definitely still on my phone, just not accessible. Please help!

Have you already tryed to reinstall an app?
Can you find the apps in settings-apps?
And if you can find the apps in settings, try to delete data and cache of the apps.
And have you tryed to wipe cache in recovery?

Help! Can't delete videos off of Moto G (1st Generation, 5.0.2 Lollipop)

A few months ago, I took a few long videos at a concert on my Moto G, and now I go to delete them, and it shows the Deleting window and everything, but when I reboot my phone, they all come back! I tried deleting them with a File Manager from the Play Store, but it just says "Operation failed." I've also tried clearing the cache of the whole phone in recovery, clearing app data for Gallery, I tried everything I could do without factory reset. Please help! I don't want to factory reset.
How do I delete them???

Do you have root access?
If you do, install a terminal emulator and then you can run fsck or the f2fs utility on /data to correct any errors that may be present in the filesystem.
If no root, then I guess the factory reset is your friend.

Some apps deleted after reboot

The phone became sluggish. I rebooted. After reboot, some of my apps were gone. :crying:
I opened Application Manager. It appears the apps got deleted became "com.(developer's name).(app's name)" and 0.00B.
I tried to install one app which got deleted. It failed. (Error code: -110)
What's wrong? How could I get back the apps, data and settings?
I have no SD card.
It is Samsung Galaxy Note 2, not rooted.
Please help. Thanks a lot.
Do a second clean reboot, and don't touch phone for 20 minutes. The apps MIGHT come back. If not, reinstall apps, then uninstall, and install again to clean up corrupted files. At worst, you might need to do a clean wipe of your system, as the file system itself might be corrupt, though normally I only see this on external memory cards.

What do you mean by clean reboot? I just switch off the phone. Wait 20 minutes and restart?
I couldn't reinstall the apps which got mysteriously deleted. They always fail. (Error code: -110)
I would like to save the data and settings of those apps before I do a clean wipe as a last resort. But how could I backup those data and settings when they are all suddenly gone. Please advise. Thanks a lot.

Yes, power off via menus, power on and don't touch for 20 minutes, then see if phone fixed self.

Tried but failed :crying:
Could anyone help? Thank you.
The system looks unstable. I couldn't reinstall those unrecoverable apps. I would like to backup data and do a factory reset.
But how could I backup those app data? The app data are still there, but the apps are unrecoverable.
I tried Helium which states it can backup app data without root access. Unfortunately those apps which got deleted mysteriously were not on the backup list.
Titanium Backup needs root access. I've never rooted before.
What's the easiest way to root my phone? Thank you.
