As others have opened the same thread, a lot of people's desire S have hanged and died. Mine included.
2 weeks ago it hanged while I was updating in the market. The screen was dead for like 10 minutes, so I pulled the battery out. Next, it wouldn't turn on pass the HTC screen, and in recovery you couldn't do anything either. Factory reset doesn't work, so i was screwed.
I send it back to HTC, and it was back in 2 days with a new motherboard.
Good, so everything goes well for this week, and 30 minutes ago, the market showed it has new updates. So i clicked update all. Guess what happens.. HANGED AGAIN. Then when I rebooted the phone, it got stuck at HTC white screen AGAIN. No matter how many times you reboot, it will be stuck at that screen.
I was seriously so frustrated I wanted to throw it agaisnt the ball.
I went into recovery mode, at first it gave me all errors. The red triangle with exclamation showed up. I thought, crap, I was going to be without my phone for another week again.
Finally after trying recovery n rebooting like 20 times.. it worked.. i was in tears when I heard the htc booting sound..
but this is a serious problem. Updating apps is a normal phone function, and it should not do hang. My phone was not even rooted or s-off. When it died I was seriously thinking of shouting at the HTC staff and asking them to give me an incredible or smth.
It's quite frightening how often this has happened now
Did you have fast boot enabled?
although considering that this was very nealy the second time that this happened to you, I'd try to get a replacement device (another ds) and not a fixed one
Good luck

My wife and I both have non-rooted TBs which started experiencing random reboots after the OTA. We went to the store and they ordered us two new ones. They'll be here Tuesday.
Yesterday my wife's TB rebooted, and got stuck at the HTC logo. She was unable to turn it off. I did a battery pull, and again, stuck at the HTC logo. I swapped my battery since hers was low, nothing. It's dead, Jim.
We called the store and they wouldn't swap it since one is already on order. My wife is a doctor, and being without a phone until Tuesday is not an option. So I loaned her mine. (Sigh).
I tried reflashing the latest signed ruu I got from another thread. I downloaded it onto my SD card, swapped cards, and I was able to hboot and the install seemed to go fine. However, it had no effect. It still gets stuck in the same spot.
Tried factory reset, recovery, nothing. Every time I reboot I get stuck at the logo and I need to pull the battery.
Out of curiosity more than anything else, any other things I can try?
Thanks.

Unfortunately, the only thing I would've suggested would be flashing the signed ruu.
You could try reverting to the pre-OTA firmware, but I'm not sure you'll be able to use ADB if you're stuck bootlooping. Check out the "NOT FOR ROOT USERS" section.

RIP poor TB
How long did you wait for the screen to clear?
Just curious because I know usually when I do any type of update or rom change, etc, since you normally wipe the data and cache, the boot up can take quite a long time on the initial boot up.
I know some people report as long as 10 minutes or so to get past the screen. I don't think mine ever took that long, but there have been times I think it's stuck and then a minute or so later, it gets past it.
Just my two cents.
This has happened to a few people already after the update. I don't know what is in this update but HTC screwed up majorly.
Sounds a lot like what happend to mine, but mine was rooted.

LOL, I welcome the breaks when I can't find my phone for the day.
you should just leave it on the htc logo until the battery dies or until it get wayy to hot.. just to see

What would that accomplish?
Yeah your lucky you got a guy to order your phone because I wouldn't have because even the new ones are rebooting, when you get it I would suggest postponing the update if it comes without the Mr1 update, as far as your wives phone yeah I would check out the forum uptop on going back to old software other than I have had a few people come into the store with same problem and couldn't do anything( mainly because I have no access to anything), but ship a replacement, oh and one suggestion is if you don't want your wife to borrow your phone your local store does have emergency stock Android loaners that you use until you get your replacement in, and then you just send your phone and the loaner back in the FedEx box so if you really need a phone you can do that.

I believe your random reboots are due to the new radio which is tied into the OTA. If you apply the OTA again your still going to have random reboots. I ever used the newer radios and have never had a random reboot.
Ok, so i got CM7 on by vibrant last year, and its been great. I havent had any complaints or problems until today.
Today I was randomly gonna do something on my phone but i noticed it was on the start-up screen(the one with the android on the skateboard with the arrow around) the arrow wasnt turning. I thought I might have touched it in my pocket and it was just restarting. I waited about 2 minutes and the screen didnt change. So I decided to pull the battery and restart it.
After I restarted it, it got stuck on the same screen again, but this time the arrow was animated. and it is just stuck there. the arrow moves but nothing else happens. I have tried restarting several times after that and it is the same result every time.
I have no idea what happened or why it happened because I havent messed with anything on the rom in months. and yes i have restarted in between. can someone help me? any suggestions what i can do?
my theory is that CM was updating on its own or something and when i pulled the battery it hadn't finished yet. but I dont even know if that happens.
so any advice would be helpful or im going to have to completely wipe and reinstall again.
thanks
hello
try to wipe everything, if it doesnt work, install the rom again
May be ... its better to wipe only cash at start. And if it won't help then wipe everything.

Hi:
I have a HTC sensation 4G. I really like the phone. However, about 3-4 months ago, my phone suddenly switched off. When I restarted my phone, it got stuck on the HTC logo and wouldn't go further and switch off. It would start again, show the white screen with the HTC logo and switch on again. It wouldn't go any further and kept doing so in a loop. I thought there could be 2 possible reasons for the same: 1.) software issue or 2.) Hardware issue. I was pretty sure it was not a software issue as I had not made any changes in the software. I took it to a HTC repair center. The repair charges they were asking were freakingly high (300$!!). I didn't get it repaired from them. However, they gave me the exact reason of the problem. They said that it was a hardware issue and often happens with the phones when battery of the phone is removed while the phone is running. If this is done multiple times, such an issue can arise. I had done it multiple times before the phone had stopped working. I then got the phone repaired from another shop paying a third of the price. He didn't give any guarantee if the phone works. But the phone started working after the repair.
Very recently though, I was using my camera and as soon as the flash came on, the flash light got stuck. The phone was, however, working. But I couldn't get the flash to switch off. So I thought of restarting my phone. The phone switched off and when it turned on, it had the same problem. It is stuck in a loop on the HTC logo screen. I think this could be a software problem. What can i do to repair it?
Another thing I want to mention is that I am unable to go even in the recovery. When I try to go in to the recovery, it switches off and shows the HTC screen again. On one occasion when I tried to go into recovery from the boot screen, it showed a message that the battery voltage is low, please change the battery immediately. So i thought it is a battery problem and I looked up on the internet to find a solution. Somewhere I read that sometimes the gold plated contact points on the battery get scratched and corrosion happens. One solution was to clean the corrosion and try again. I did but didn't work. Also, when I try to charge the phone (because the battery voltage is low), even if the phone is switched off, its starts up again automatically without pressing the power button. Then it keeps going in the loop.
I don't know what the problem exactly is. Do i need to change the battery? I am running official HTC ICS ROM. Please help me with a solution.
It will be of great help. Thank you!!

Hey guys...
Kinda ultimate noob here, so I'll start from the beginning because I don't know what information could be pertinent. I don't really know much lingo at all, but I have a completely stock, unrooted HTC Inspire 4G from AT&T that my cousin gave me a few months ago. On and off since then, I've had a few random restarts and crashes, no big deal, always came back up. The other day, about a week ago, the headphone icon started blinking and my sound stopped working, so I restarted the phone and it got stuck on the ATT boot screen, so I took out the battery, let it sit, and when I put it back together, everything was fine. Last night, I was in a meeting and my phone battery was at 2%, so I turned it off so avoid it dying. I got home and plugged it in, and when I went to turn it on, it would not load past the ATT boot screen. I let it sit overnight, and a couple hours ago I tried a factory reset, and tried to boot up again, and it got stuck in what I believe is called a boot cycle, where it would go from the HTC startup screen to the ATT screen, go black, then repeat over and over. I did some research, and tried to use an RUU to set everything back to complete stock, but both of the ones I tried gave me the "Please get the correct RUU and try again" error. I have the 1.03.2011 RUU up right now, and it says that my image version is 3.20.502.52, and gives me that same error. I don't know if I completely effed it up or what, so any possible help would be greatly appreciated. I've been looking through guides and trying things for over 12 hours, but I can't get anything to work, so it would be best to start from the beginning. I tried to get everything I know about the problem in there, but if more information is needed, just let me know and I'll do my best to get it for you. I've heard great things about XDA and did most of my research here, so I'm hoping you can work some of your magic on my phone
Came home from work yesterday and the Pure XL was dead, said it needed to be charged. Never happened before but I figured whatever and plugged it in and went to sleep. Woke up this morning and powered on the phone and the all white BLU splash screen came up and then the phone went off. Came on again and the all white BLU splash screen came up and went off. Ive tried holding down the power button for over a minute. Tried holding the power button and volume keys to boot into recovery from 10 seconds to 2 minutes, nothing stops it! It just keeps rebooting. This has been my apprehension towards purchasing phones with non removable batteries. The boot recycle happens about every 15 seconds and the phone vibrates everytime it boots up for the past 2 hours. Its getting very annoying and there is no way to make it stop. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Plug it into your computer (you'll notice that there will be a longer black screen in-between the bootloops) and hold down the power button for at least 10 seconds or more, then release it after the next vibration and the white BLU screen shows up. It might take a couple of tries.
If you manage to boot into at least recovery but can't boot into the system, then try clearing your cache/dalvik cache and try rebooting into system again.
If all of the above doesn't work for you, then your boot.img/system has gone bad, and you'll have to flash the stock images with SP Flash Tool (both of which can be found on other posts on this forum).
follow the instructions on the SP flash tool thread... sounds like what happened to me after bad flash... theres a lot of information in that thread that will set you up...
Thanks for the quick replies guys. The PC trick didnt work at all. I just called BLU and asked for a replacement(havent heard back from them ironically). I put the phone in the basement so I wouldnt have to deal with that incessant buzzing every 15 seconds. Eventually the battery died. Since I had it powered off finally, I plugged it in for about 10 minutes to give it enough of a charge to power on but not stay on to buzz for another 2 hours. This time I powered it on using the master reset button combo and was finally able to wipe the cache and restart the phone. Took a good 4 or 5 minutes to boot after that, but everything has been fine since. Really dont know what initially caused the issue, never happened before. Good thing too, cause BLU told me that they would send me a RMA within the hour and I still havent heard from them. Think this will be my last BLU phone. Thanks for the assist.
My phone Is stocked without root or Twrp. And I find my self having a bootloop once a month for an odd reason. This forces me to take bat out and put it back in or just let it loop til battery dies

My phone is basically out of the box and I'm getting boot loop problems when I first boot. This happens like once a month
Sent from my PURE XL using XDA-Developers mobile app
This happened to me for first time yesterday. Bought the phone earlier this year and everything worked fine. I restarted the phone because my sound recorder app froze up twice on open and the infinite boot started until the battery died. Tried the {power}{vol up} thing, didn't work to stop it, so I put it in my car and went back to the conference I was attending. Battery was dead when I got out. Contacted BLU by phone and they started a ticket for me, but I figured I'd see if other people were having this issue and learn what they did because I'd rather not be out of a phone for however long it takes for BLU to replace mine. Stumbled on this page. I never rooted my phone. And BLU only sent one wireless update since I've had the phone. I'm trying to get into the menu by connecting to the computer. Worked the first time, I cleared cache, and tried to backup my files, but I'd taken out the SD card in expectation of sending it to BLU. So, Powered off the phone, put the card back in, and now I haven't been able to get the menu back. Still working on it, if there are any suggestions anyone drops on me before Tuesday when I'll likely ship it (or at least hope to because I'll be yelling at them Monday), I'd appreciate it.

I tried to flash the phone, but the bootloop apparently wouldn't allow that. I had 0.0% progress after 3 hours. I then tried to go back into the menu you get from {Power}{Vol UP}: still no go. So, I started to take the phone apart again to get ready for shipping. The battery was still low so it didn't take long for it to die after I unplugged it from the computer. Out of curiosity, I tried to repeat finding the menu like I did earlier that day (conditions were that the phone had no charge when I connected it to the computer, and my SD card was removed.) No go. But, then I hit {Power}{Vol Up}{Vol Down} just to see what happened, and boom. My phone loaded up. No loop... Figured somehow the files had copied and the status bar was wrong. Turned the phone off, put my SD card back in and turned the phone on. Loop reappears ...I waited for the phone to die again, took out the SD, attempted to turn it on and the loop was there. Connected it to the computer and hit all 3 buttons, and the phone loads up. So, now I'm confused. Is there any way that the problem is some crappy connection to the SD?
