Still My Favorite Dock - HTC Sensation

I've had a few docks and eventually got sick of buying new ones for each phone/device/when one broke. You may have seen it in other devices threads but I picked this one up almost a year back and haven't looked back yet. It may turn some people off because it uses the CD slot to hold but that's why I love it (use sensation for music thru stereo), there's a dock when I need it for those long drives and its gone when I don't with no dash or window marks. CD's still play when its fully installed. The build quality also surprised me, its been almost a year and it still holds strong. Check it out can't beat it for $20 and the reviews on Amazon are pretty good too. Let me kno what you guys think

Thanks for posting this. I'd not seen anything like this and have been struggling to find a good dock. Can I ask how it does with the power and volume rockers? Are they blocked or activated in anyway when you have the phone in the holder?

No problem Power button is untouched when in the holder, sound buttons are partially covered I can hit volume up but not down if I try. But they arent activated at all with my experience, the cushion that holds the device is soft enough to not push them in and at the same time hold it. (I do have my sensation in a case, i can check it out when im hope later w/o if youd like but i used my evo in it naked all the time with no problems) The power out plug is open so I can keep a charger in it too.
800th post haha .... kind of embarrassing

If you don't mind testing it without the case I would appreciate it. I have mine naked and don't want to have to worry about the volume dropping on it while it's in the holder.
Thanks again.

I have this one since I purchased my N1. After a few months I lost one of the paddings on the sides and now doesn't grip as well as it did. I am in 100+degree heat in TX so it didn't surprise me that the cushion thingy fell off. But it works well when input in my cd player. And it doesn't effect playback of the cd at all.
However, on my version, the usb/power plug was blocked using this when setting the phone with the captive buttons down. I had to invert it so that the port was open and the cord can go in without any problems. I had my phone on auto rotate so going into landscape mode was the only option to view with the power cord plugged in. Again this is NOT with the one the OP posted, only mine no name one I got online somewhere.

Ill test it when I get home and see if I can maybe take a couple pictures for you guys.
I know there was a few different versions of this type of dock. Was yours a mountek? mine said something like a 4 year warranty when i bought it. If you have a mountek it couldnt hurt giving them a call?

I know it's not a Mountek. But it was also like $20 bux and it works still. But occasionally the phone can pop off because there is no cushion to grip it when I hit a bump. Kinda like a slippery fish syndrome lol. I have a case on it so it's all good.

My Home Cradle/Charger

I recently saw this and made sense to me to get the sucker. I have my N1 in front, my iTouch in the back and my wife's SE can be charged on the last remaining slot.
This unit is really small, pretty well belt and comes in black/silver/pink. And they have the 3 or 2 charging slots and come with either a 6 tip package or you can pick and choose 4 tips, according to what you want to charge.
Here's the unit, I got the silver 3 slot version. It has a on/off switch on the back as well in case you want to just turn off the unit when not in use.

The seller, idaptweb.com. Its a great site, but communication is lacking. I received this unit in about a week. Ships from Spain I think.
There's no possible way that can be good for the micro usb port of your nexus. Or any device for that matter. Get your rma ready!
What privacy screen do you have on that iphone in your pic?

That's what I initially thought as well. But to me its pretty sturdy. I have the OEM cradle at work as my backup anyways. But I will continue to monitor it just in case.

It's an iTouch actually. The privacy screen is from proporta.com. They do have iphone privacy screen protectors as well. Its a very well made product IMO.
UPDATE:
I continue to use this "universal" charger at home and have the OEM one at work. I have NOT had any issues with the bottom of the headset. The unit is well made and so is the N1.
Here is another "universal" charger as well. About 100 bux USD on this site but looks pretty contemporary as well. I have not used this one, but from the looks of it, the base is a cushion type base, that gives a bit to hold the devices.

the first charger dock stand thing is almost the ugliest thing i have ever seen posted on the forum, and the pic of the glass one with the PSP on it looks stupid as well..
these types of stands will wear out the micro usb port over time

Damn, a little malicious, no? LOL
For the asthetics, its ok in my book. Each his/her/it own. You can rub your
.02 up your collective tight twat and ask for change at your local KMart.
As for the wearing down of the port, it may but by the time that happens, I may be on to my next handset. Just my .02

If not for the apple accessories, I would have told you to wait until Energizer released one of those pad-charge-capable batteries for the N1.
Also, if you use the pins instead of the microUSB connector a la desktop/car dock, the phone charges RIDICULOUSLY faster. I've had data, GPS, music, etc. with my phone docked and it still went up 20% in charge during a less than 10 minute trip. I wish I could make something like that up. (It was uncomfortably warm, but definitely usable)

Awesome. I might get one, use this in the empty space created by the new battery panel and use the older battery. Cheap 32GB SD card (BTW: SD cards are ALWAYS cheaper then MicroSD cards and higher speeds )
that looks so much better than those ugly backpacks they had for the g1. I may actually purchase one of these.
when and where can we get these?

Mmmm, imagine that with a built in micro->sd adapter and sim switcher, that would be a _useful_ bit of kit
Really doesn't look that bad for all that extra bat power...
if only it still fit in the desktop dock...
Great find! just finished placing my order. Will compare it with my G1 phone size when my product arrives.
I just ordered one as well.
I'll post my findings and pics once I receive it.
Now all I have to do is find a case for it.
Too bad I already got the Innocase
With that backpack, It's not only that the case won't fit. I won't need a case at all. It will protect the back with the new back cover. The unprotected parts of my phone with that new cover would just be mostly metal and the screen.
Does this still allow you to use the desktop dock? or will I have to take out the extended battery.. put in the old battery and then dock it up?
Post lots of pictures for the rest of us that are still on the fence please!
yo
can u please give me a link where i can buy that sd corverter.. thanks in advance

It works with their dock.
I'm not sure about the factory dock.
It won't work with the factory dock. ANY kind of case won't allow you to fit into the factory dock. There is zero room for additional padding.
I ended up putting my dock behind my dash in my car and just using it as a bluetooth receiver until A2DP works with the BlueStar module (Bluetooth Onstar replacement)
confirmed shipping 2 day. Double the battery power, can't wait. I aint had a phone last me the whole day wit out charging or changing the battery since my first gen razr
I think mine comes in tomorrow. I'll post pics once I get it.
It all depends if signature is required.
Mine arrived yesterday, only had a chance to do a charge last night, will take a closer look tonight.
First impressions are really about the replacement back cover:
It would reasonably easily unlatch and fall off from a bump or a short fall, which means the battery could, in turn, also fall out.
Unlike the original cover, there's no clear window over the camera or flash LED, which means dust/liquid splashes etc get in the holes a lot easier.
I'll have a closer look tonight, the microsd => sd reverse adapter might be a winner for the space in the back cover.

has anyone tried Expansys Car Cradle?

i was wondering if anyone has used this yet. it has hands free but the website does not say how it is used. not sure if its bluetooth or what. i already ordered the htc version and the status says shipped so was too late to cancel and wait for more info on this product. i would also like to know if it is able to dock with the t-mobile body glove hard gel case.
the 2 things im looking for specifically on docks is built in speaker and dockable with case!
here is the link... http://www.expansys-usa.com/expansys-car-cradle-for-htc-sensation-with-handsfree-218918/

yea when i first posted i didnt have enough info but after an hour of googling i can see in them pictures it cant but usually some folks on here find a way to make them work with a little modding lol and also helps to get a confirmation. would be great if it worked but i do not like at all the location of the speaker being on the plug. my plug is way at the bottom about knee high or actually lower. unsure how loud it will be but when driving on the highway im sure it will be hard to hear.

Just get something like
http://cgi.ebay.com/HTC-Sensation-4...094?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2310e3f48e
It's pretty universal and just plug in your car adapter accordingly. If you are looking for a basic bluetooth speaker system, go for a parrot system or try what I have and use, the BlueAnt S4. It basically clips to the sun visor and you can answer calls hands free. A big bonus is that the BlueAnt uses the same charging port as the phone. Same charger ftw!

Drop damage: stuck volume rocker

Hey all,
I had the unfortunate circumstance of watching someone drop my phone on concrete, causing an immediate jaw drop followed by seething anger.
The screen is fine but now the volume rocker is stuck pressing up. If the screen is off and I hold the phone in landscape the camera activates.
Is this repairable? The phone is fine otherwise and the warranty seems to favor cracked screens over stuck buttons and bent bodies.
Pics included for reference.

Something similar happened to me, i tried to fix it and i did manage to take the dent out but i messed up the digitizer it was no longer letting me pull down the notifications from the status bar. Only the status bar area was completely dead. i did a factory reset right before i called Verizon and they just sent me another phone. i didn't have to pay anything they said it was covered by the manufacture 1 year warranty. Might want to try that since the screen isn't broken you know.
That sucks man. When someone wants to see my phone I upfront say be very cardful, it's a bit slippery and give them the look of "if you drop it I'll fu**ing kill you".
Sent from my HTC One M8 using Tapatalk
You can try *EXTREMELY CAREFULLY* to bend the metal *around* the button. Do no try to pry the button itself, just the casing around it. You have to use extreme caution though - I haven't had the displeasure of opening one of these yet, but if it's anything like the M7 (which is an absolute nightmare to open) then there will be a very thin flex cable for the volume that is very easy to sever.
The replies are greatly appreciated!
Is Verizon nice about warranties when I don't pay up front for the phone?
I think I will try to restore to factory settings and take advantage of the one year manufacturers warranty

Hello there. Sorry for asking this question, since this thread was started long ago. Can you please tell me whether you got your device repaired or replaced ? Thanks is advance :good:
Same thing happened to me. Volume up button dented in from HTC's SEALED metal wanna be IPHONE case. Somewhere someone attributed IPhone's success with the fact that their phones cant be repaired, just sent in. So of course every post or comment from HTC troll employees is "send it in, get it repaired" --- SIDE NOTE for "trouble shooting posters", EVERYONE in the WORLD realizes we can send a phone in to get it repaired.. , if we wanted to do this, we wouldnt be on a gd browser googling fixes! LEAVE your "send it in to get repaired" comments out! we dont want them!

Why not open the phone up and simply dislodge the button? It's only on the outside of the case.
If the rocker isn't recoverable, you can always replace the outer case through etrade supply or something. That comes with new buttons. Other than that there isn't much you can do other then send it in for repair. Most local places won't touch the phone due to difficulty of repair.
If you do elect to open it, watch out for the GPS antenna at the top of the device near the power button. That's probably the easiest thing to break.

If you have wireless charging, I can highly recommend the Nokia DT-910.
Furthermore, ATT.com is closing 'em out:
http://www.att.com/shop/wireless/ac...arging-stand-sku6290330.html#fbid=X3oNkaehCXw
Only $10 online if you can find a local retailer that has 'em in stock. I got mine about a week ago and love it. There's even an NFC tag in the base, though it's kinda hard to get it to trigger with many of the third party wireless charging cards.
Charger Stand
I wouldnt get a stand with charger in base, i already had bought one, and the floppy cover for usb doesnt extend all the way out. So basically u would have pop the port cover off everytime, or leave it off, buttttt run the risk of water gettin inside. Wireless charging is the way to go.

Yeah, I would like a stand but this is what I worry about. I see some stands have little extra space for the usb cover but that would require turning the floppy cover 180 degrees while I can safely turn it only 90 degrees. Sure, I can bend it more but I'm afraid (as I often use it in/near water and paid small fortune for the phone ).
Maybe I could buy something like this www.dx.com/p/2-in-1-charging-station-stand-w-battery-charger-for-samsung-galaxy-s5-black-317337 and "dremel" a hole next to usb port to keep the cover 90 degree.
EDIT: I guess I will end up with something like that http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Univ...for-iPhone-Samsung-Smartphone/1854869990.html as I already have similar stand for tablet.
i agree with the cover, it needs to point down, not 180 degrees. if down cases would also work when there is no chance to do 180 with the flap in a case.
Stand mentioned in my previous post. I think I'm getting another one to work.
