Gingerbreak is the preferred option.
ok i tried gignerbreak, but it showed me a message that it didn't know what happened and that i should reboot manually.I rebooted and then i used superuser and rootexplorer to place my own ringtone and message tone in system, and i succeeded. This means that i have now rooted my phone?
yup thats it
Hmm... no success here. I did it before with 1.28 but now with 1.47 is not possible. It shows the same like yours. How did you do it and which version of Gingerbreak? Thanks

AFAIK only 1.28 can be rooted.. i tried it as well with 1.47 and it was not possible..
But look at the top. He is talking especially about 1.47 and the new radio.

So, I did the S-On procedure. Everything seemed to go fine but it will only go to the fastboot screen and it says "Security Warning" up at the top. Ideas?
Just go into fastboot, download the RUU you need and flash the stock rom. After that enable usb debuggin in the settings and connect to your pc. After that follow the guide you used to do before.

I can run the RUU with S-On?
Yeah sure if you use the one that matches with your CID.
Btw I flashed my device with the RUU too with S-On
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA Premium App
I will give it a try. I never messed with my CID so any Tmous RUU should work, correct? Thanks for your help!
Yes, but I would use the latest one.
Write back when done

Looks like downloading is going to take a while. I'll post back when it's been attempted.
Worked like a charm, it seems. I had used an older RUU before going back to S-On.
Thanks again. I'm now 2 for 2 in asking questions without being flamed and, instead, receiving mega helpful answers!

If you have new hboot (2.00.002) and you are S-OFF, it means your phone has hardware S-OFF, using XTC clip. You don't have to unlock it. You can do right about everything with your phone without unlocking it.
So why is this

Try 'fastboot oem unlock'
Some first gen phone's were s-off to start with. Don't quote me on that, I'm guessing.

Because s-off/s-on and locked/unlocked are 2 different things. Trust me being s-off'ed by xtc clip is more then enough, you can install anything you want. I have a phone like that. Don't unlock, there is no need for that. You can flash any RUU if you want so and still stay s-off and then flash any custom rom, and then RUU again... I've done that all more then once.

Since your phone already is s-off,
You can root it now using a tool like superoneclick or something else.
Sent from my Desire S using XDA App
Agree with the above.
What I personaly did is installed latest RUU 2.10.401.9 just to have the latest hboot and radio (since I have xtc clip s-off, I stayed s-off). Then rooted it with one click tool, flashed latest 4ext recovery and installed my favorite custom rom.

Is it necessary to take nandroid backup before rooting or we can simply backup our appz

If it's already s-off, root it with superoneclick, install recovery like 4ext or cwm, backup everything and flash roms like it's going crazy.

Update: yea you're right dude. 1.03 has no exploit with their tool at least. He would have to go back down to a lower bootloader and then ota up.

Hello all,
I have a HTC Sensation from Tmobile US that is bootlooping. It is S-ON, with hboot 1.18.0000 and bootloader says *Locked* on top.
I have flashed PG58IMG.zip extracted from RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.50.531.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223976_signed.exe, which flashed successfully but no change.
How to fix it? I will appreciate any suggestions!

Ya I did I ment to say if you where on 4.1 but it don't matter know
You could try running a stock custom Rom or download a ruu and do moonshine and no if your phone is listed in moonshine you won't have to supercid for s-off

Based on your hboot, radio and being on t-mo, i guess you're most probably have to use moonshine to s-off..

anyone willing to help me achieve this
Facepalm should do it. Just carefully follow the instructions in the OP and you'll have s-off in no time. The instructions are fairly simple, you just have to copy and paste all the commands to avoid issues from misspelling..
