Yea that would be my first guess too. Only thing is that I think there is an hboot version on the thunderbolt that root and stuff was never found.

I know there is root for 1.04 and 1.05 hboot versions... maybe it was 1.03 that wasn't found?

Update: yea you're right dude. 1.03 has no exploit with their tool at least. He would have to go back down to a lower bootloader and then ota up.

On the revolutionary site they listed one bootloader that the unlock exploit won't work for.

If you have s-off when u go back to stock ruu could u still update ?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
If you ate running custom rom, you don't really need the update. You might gain from the radio, but you can get that without the update and ruu. Flash. Attn1 has made a rom you can flash in the Dec section.

The short answer is yes, as long as you are unrooted. I have instructions in the development section.

You don't need it. If you want it there's a sideloading one.

Since you're already rooted and still on the stocker, flash this. It's the update that you're being prompted to dl but rooted....
Mods:
System image repacked with OTA patches, ROOT & Superuser & Busybox
Boot Image Kernel rebuild with OTA config, TUN and CIFS and EXT4 support added.
Hboot removed so any ENG Hboots are not overwritten.
Stock recovery removed because - well who wants stock recovery?
Regular Android unknown sources (side loading) toggle enabled in SL version (bottom download)

From the thread's first post.
I think this is the "sideloading" update rolled out in a few places yesterday, which is different from the update added to the ATTN1 ROM. Of course, enabling sideloading is easy, but I'm curious what might be in this update. My phone shows none available right now.
Edit: never mind. I just looked at the details of the screen capture. This is the regular OTA update from AT&T.
So do I need to update or what and if I do I do not won't to loose my hboot

Use the KISS method and flash what I posted.

Maybe factory restore will do.... That might bring it back to the old version.... I'm assuming he was just getting official OTAs

Just reflash the latest RUU for his handset - you don't need to go back at all
I have been running the ruu through windows and it always gets an error. Is there a different way to flash it?

Connect the phone in fastboot mode and then run it - works fine for me that way
...and it worked that way with your bootloader unlocked?

I don't know if this is completely true, but you may need to relock your bootloader and go back to the stock recovery in order to get the ota update. Obviously, if someone makes a rom from it you can just use that.

Can someone post a flashable zip? I don't want to run the RUU because I don't want to update my hboot.
Alternatively, if someone could post a TWRP nandroid backup file that I can restore, that would work too
I'm currently running the European 2.21 release with the 1.06s radio.
TY!
Sense 4.1 is wicked fast and the option to remove the menu on screen button is awesome more screen real estate for me . My recent apps button now functions as menu button sweet.

Yeah, I thought that was a flashable zip. But I can't flash it using a custom recovery.
FYI people this update also allows more apps to work and download from the play store

Anyone perform the update with encrypted storage? Just want to make sure it doesn't mess anything up before updating. From what I'm seeing, though, this is a nice upgrade.

Who is your service provider? You could maybe double check it with them if they released the ICS update at all. (they should have though... ) You could maybe reboot your device I give it a try again? Somebody more clever might help you out...

built in updater is the same I told you.

And one more thing! You could also have a look in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672425 It is about RUU (Rom Update Utility). By using these you can update your device but you need to choose the right RUU for your device. Use this if you cannot get anywhere with your provider...

The answer is written in the thread I gave you and set up by kgs1992. Read all that stuff just to make sure you are familiar with that you are going to do. :good:
Just be sure you're connected to wifi and check for updates, it will prompt you to install the latest software available for your phone and region
Yes. When you tap on the check now button, a window will appear where it tells you what you are going to download. And It's better to be connected to WiFi as it will download a bigger amount of update.
