Ok, so I'm having a sync problem. I know it has nothing to do with the rom I'm using but after quite a bit of searching I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. (must not be using the right terms)
After a clean flash of Saga 1.0.1 last night I restored my contacts from a backup I made within people. This morning when I got up I had some duplicates & even triples of contacts but not all, kinda weird. I've had this happen in WM on my Tilt2 when I sync'd on multiple pc's but that's not the case here and when it happened then it would be all contacts not random ones. Another odd thing that happened is a couple of received mms's got sent back to the sender. I think it must have something to do with Gmail and/or Htcsense.com
Well when I got to work I sync'd with my pc then cleaned up everything in outlook & wiped contact storage on the phone thinking that I would just resync with the pc and all would be good. Not! When I tried to sync with HTC Sync it will not load the contacts to my phone and Gmail would not add them back either.
Also, being the moron I am, I had also deleted the backup on the sdcard because there were several linked contacts and I wanted to start from a clean slate. The only way I could find to sync back up with the pc was to do a FDR and select manual syncing in the setup. Is there a better way of going about this?
The pc is running 32bit win7 & I'm using outlook 07. Any help will be much appreciated!!

okay this seems REALLY confusing. to clear some things up, what all does your phone sync to (htc, google?, outlook?), and where are your contacts stored that's kinda like your home base for contacts from which everything is synced? Outlook, or google?
also, your google account on your phone, is it the android google account? or do you have a separate exchange server set up?
and yeah, if you try a FDR, let me know what happens with this. that might just be a good way to clean up all the residual stuff...

When I initially got the phone I used HTC Sync to pull office 07 contacts from my work pc. Since then I've been using a vcard backup on my sdcard. I also had google setup to sync with as it also restores apps, wallpaper, etc after flashing. I thought that google would ignore existing contacts, it did for some and not others.
The google account is the gmail account I setup when I got the phone.
The FDR did work and everything is fine now but I want to be sure it doesn't happen again the next time I flash a rom.
Thanks for your help!

Glad I could try to lol. And maybe next time just pet Google do it so you don't introduce extra copies of contacts to your phone

Where does google store the info at? When I log into my gmail account on my pc there are no contacts stored. If I'm going to let google be my "home base" I'd like to be able to edit it. At the same time how safe is the data? I have birthdays, anniversaries, addresses and so on in my contacts.
This is my first android phone. It's funny that I had no problem rooting, flashing, adding themes or side loading but the **** that's supposed to be simple is what's f'ing me up.
Hi,
When I first got my phone a month ago and not knowing what I was doing, when prompted to log into a Gmail account, I set things up with my tertiary/third-most-used account. Little did I know the consequences. When I decided I wanted to now set the phone up with my primary account, I discovered that the only way to do so was with a hard reset!
Well, after going through that process and now wanting to download and install several dozen Market apps that I previously had installed (several of which I'd paid for), I logged into Market, only to find a message saying "No downloads from Android Market."
I assume that Market doesn't recognize my new Gmail address as belonging to the same person as the one I was using previously (even after I added it). Is there a way that I can associate the two accounts for Market so that I can get my apps back?
Thanks!
This might be a dumb question and a little too late, but is there a reason you NEED the phone set up with your most used account? If I'm not mistaken, it ought to be painfully easy to set the phone up with a second google account for things like gmail and calendar and such. You might even be able to get contact sync from a second google account, with apps and such just syncing from the old account that you already used for that purpose.
I'd have at least given that a try before doing a full wipe, but you might have reasons I haven't thought of yet.
Not a dumb question at all. In fact, I'm the one feeling pretty dumb right now, for jumping the gun like I did. I did have a couple of other reasons, but I'm beginning to see that it wasn't as

...worth the cost. The other problem now is that I'm deluged by mail from my primary Gmail account. It also goes to my ISP account, where I can read it much more efficiently.
I can see another hard reset in my near future. :-(
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
I can tell you from experience (I've flashed a few roms...) that a hard reset isn't nearly as hard when you're syncing to the google account that has all your contacts and apps attached to it...
Silas, you lost me. What do you mean that it isn't as hard? Because you don't lose as much data? Are you talking about doing a hard reset without switching accounts like I did?
Would I be better to reset again (not a big deal at this point) and go back to the way it was, or not? Would I get my apps back (I hope)?
FWIW, I use my Gmail accounts only to collect and back up my email accounts, and for quick searches. I thought I might start using Google Calendar, though, and thought it might be better to use the one in my main Gmail account. Possibly I could sync the same calendar to both accounts, though -- could I?
And finally, is there any way at all to get my paid apps back with my current setup?
Thanks, everyone.

This might help you. Go into gmail and click the account address in the upper right corner. At the bottom is an option for adding an account. You should be able to let you apps back after adding that other account back. Hope it helps. If not, at least I tried.

Well, I thought I had replied a couple of hours ago, and here's my message, still waiting to post. Sigh....
Thank you, ZeroRilix. Unfortunately, no dice.
When I did that, there were already three accounts there. After hard resetting and setting up my primary Gmail account, I had also set up my other two Gmail account in Accounts & sync in Settings. However, when I viewed them as you suggested, it said that neither of them had been synced. So I made sure that Contacts, Calendar, and Mail were synced for all three accounts. When I went into Market and viewed My Apps, all I saw were still the few I had downloaded since the hard reset.
Thanks, though....
No prob. Everything you've already tried should've worked. I might suggest contacting Android Market and letting them know what's going on. I have included the link to the appropriate form to fill out. Sorry your still having issues, and maybe they can help you further. If you get the issue resolved, post back here so users who might run into this same issue cam fix it. Good luck!

I thought for sure I'd replied to this, but I can't see my response anywhere. Don't know why I'm having such trouble posting.
Thanks very much for this. I sent a support request yesterday and will let you know what they say. Unfortunately, it's Saturday, and I assume nobody's there to answer. Why do things always go wrong on the weekend?
Hi,
Here's my latest update. Not wanting to wait till Monday or later for a reply from Market Support, I decided to try posting my question to the Android forum at androidforums.com. I got a couple of helpful responses and I'm back in business. Here's the thread for anyone interested:
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/335710-how-can-i-recover-my-market-apps.html OR
goo.gl/FhiLP
The short version is that I started over the way I had initially and all my apps downloaded automatically!
Thanks again for the help.
EDIT: My apologies for not originally putting this in the Q&A forum. Please forgive the "stupid NOOB." It won't happen again.
Today I was trying to sync my browser to Chrome in my g-slate. The browser was not sync'ing. I went into Chrome and stopped syncing, went into my Google profile and removed all Chrome Sync data, and then started the process over. The goal was to get my bookmarks on my g-slate browser.
When I reset the browser to sync, I got:
"The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again"
I've already gone through and deactivated all the sync for my google account, then gone to Books, Browser, Calendar, Contacts, G-mail, Calendar Sync, Contacts Sync, Contacts Storage and cleared cache, and cleared data, restarted the slate, and then went through the sync one by one. Once I get to Sync Browser, it hits every time
So I know it's localized to the browser, and I think that something got screwed up. I've read that some sync files can get stuck and conflict, which causes this error, but nothing ever says how to fix it.
Can someone help me out?
Running stock unrooted G-Slate.
Thanks!
Solved!
Same problem here, on Asus tablet running Android 3.1.
Stock browser had bookmarks synchronized with chrome, then had the BAD idea of erasing the chrome sync data trough the google dashboard (no longer interested in bookmark sync), and the error message started to appear
All I did is to wait for dashboard to update (data cleared), then had to re-create a bookmark sync
Not a big deal for me, given on PCs I'm using Firefox and Chrome sync was setup just for migrating bookmarks from a broken tablet to the new one...
Anyway, now browser works again with no longer the error message.
Google will have anyway to fix this!
After I flashed a custom ROM the Browse didn't sync the bookmarks.
Whith stock was fine working.
anybody can help
You should always manually backup your book marks anyway, even on my house pc i have it backed up sevral times on diffrent drives!
I hope you used a back program for the other rom!
The problem is not that i lost my bookmarks because i use the coustom rom.
i want to sync the bookmarks from crome over the cloud direct to the browser.
i'm having the same problem running prime 1.5, here's what i see in logcat:
D/SyncManager( 169): failed sync operation ***@gmail.com (com.google), com.android.browser, LOCAL, earliestRunTime 6351479, SyncResult: stats [ numIoExceptions: 1 numEntries: 1809]
today the tf sync some bookmarks, 5 of 100 i hope in the next days ore houres i get more. Did someone know if the issue is from google server ore from tf self.
Same issue without custom ROM.
Hello all,
I have a B60K that I can't seem to get the stock browser to sync bookmarks with. This was on the 3.1 that came with the TF along with the one from earlier today (Kernel 2.6.36.3-00011-g3eb19ec).
It worked fine on my old B50K (also stock, just with the previous 3.1 update).
I have tried Resetting the browser to default a few times along with deleting the account and setting it up so that I am only syncing the browser on the TF and only syncing bookmarks in Chrome.
An odd thing is that now the B50K TF will no longer sync. I had reset it to factory but not returned it yet. If I boot it up and just setup what is needed to sync the browser it doesn't work.
Below are a couple of messages I that helped me find this post.
Any assistance with the sync would be great. That being said, I would also be happy if anyone could point me in the right direction for just importing the bookmarks as a temp work around.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

I am stock 3.1 with latest OTA. The bookmark sync stopped working about a week ago, not long after installing Google+
I get about 50 bookmarks, starting fom the last ones, then sync fails.
Would love to know if anyone has fixed this.

I am getting the exact same thing on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 running rooted-but-otherwise-stock 3.1. I have tried deleting the account but that didn't help. Local problem (client) or problem on Google's side? Any known fix yet?
I am having this problem too today. US TF with latest OTA, unrooted. Looks like a server problem.
Workaround is to export your chrome bookmark into Dropbox.

Thank you and where should I put the bookmarks.
I am also not sure what to do once I get a bookmark folder onto the TF. While Dropbox will make it easier to keep them synced, it doesn't actually help those of us that are looking for a method of importing them into the stock browser.
Is the idea that it is just an html file that we call up with one long list of bookmarks?
In the interim, you could try chromemarks, it will at least extract all your synced bookmarks into the app, and you can launch from there. The dev noted that Google made changes to their db structure which required a fix on July 12. That's right around when my sync started to fail.
I haven't found a way to import into the stock browser. Looking forward to seeing this fixed.

Thanks mike5065. I tried chromemarks. Now I do have my Chrome bookmarks on the TF. That said, I need the full chromemarks version to integrate them into the stock browser.
Does anyone have any ideas for a free method to import bookmarks into the stock browser?

Don't buy the full version of chromemarks it can't integrate bookmarks to the tf browser.

Thanks for saving me (and it sounds like some others) some money. Does anyone have any other ideas?
hello all, and just wanted to share a bit of info I saw on the web--can't remember where. It seems Google changed the way it handles chrome bookmarks and sync sometime about a week ago, and that's why we can no longer sync. Hopefully an update will come that fixes it.
Wow, I just figured out some interesting things that might help clarify troubleshooting and apps for this issue for others as well.
There is a distinct difference between Chrome Bookmarks and Google Bookmarks. Further, they are not compatible. In fact if you want to import Chrome Bookmarks into Google Bookmarks you have to either do it via Firefox or a Delicious Bookmarks account. At any rate, Google Bookmarks seem to work fine syncing with HC right now. It is just the Chrome Bookmarks that are having an issue.
Here is a Google forum entry where they seem to be tracking a current issue with Chrome Bookmarks not syncing:
http://www.google.com/support/forum...ae&hl=en&fid=27043147d44d99ae0004a85d5169dc33
It may be a good idea if we start posting to that forum in order to (maybe) speed up any fix. It may add more urgency to the issue if Google realizes that the scope of the impact is greater then they thought.
Hope this is helpful to some.
Oh, on a quick side note, does anyone know if there is a name for the Honeycomb stock browser? Googling "Honeycomb stock browser" for this issue doesn't seem to help narrow down the search. It would be nice if I knew the name.
Thanks.
A bit update: if you go to settings->accounts & sync->manage accounts, click the up-right corner sync icon, you might notice the same thing as mine: all other sync are updated with the current time except the "sync browser".
The strange thing on mine is that part of the bookmarks are synced, but not all.
looks like it might be fixed, my bookmarks started magically syncing again today

No such luck for me. I did get two empty folders to show up, but nothing else. Are you sure you got all of your bookmarks? Can you check HC account settings to see if the browser has really finished syncing?
Thanks.
Hello all,
I have a problem syncing my Google contacts with my HTC One M8 (running Android 6.0). In the past, I have been able to sync the HTC People app with Google (and also link them with data from other apps).
Yesterday, I had to reset my Google account settings. I also cleared the People data, before putting the account settings back and syncing the data. Now it will only sync some of the contacts. It's missing about 190 of my contacts (which are clearly still there on Google). I can find no pattern to the contacts it includes/excludes. I have tried repeating the process - clearing all the data and settings and putting it all back - but I cannot get all of the contacts to appear on my phone any more.
Can anyone tell me how to solve this? Failing that, is there another (reliable) app for syncing contacts data from multiple sources, including Google, Whatsapp, and Skype? Thank you in advance!
Can you verify that missing ppl have either google plus profiles or (birth)dates set? Refer to https://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-2-xl/help/contact-sync-flashing-8-1-image-syncing-t3715229 ... this seems broken since the 8.1 release but also breaks for non-oreo and non-pixel devices

Thanks for posting so quickly - and for directing me to a thread for precisely this issue! I am missing rather too many contacts to go through all of them, but it's definitely not confined to contacts with a G+ profile and/or a date. As you say, the Android version on my phone also pre-dates that of most users experiencing this problem.
It seems there's no clear solution yet, but (from the thread) it seems to be early days. For now, I have manually exported my Google Contacts to a vCard file and imported it to my phone contacts. I guess I'll wait and see if Google comes up with a solution in due course.

Deleted my Google account and People app data (again) today. Replaced them and suddenly I am finding ALL my Google contacts syncing again. I don't really have an explanation for why it worked this time but it might be relevant that I also installed the dedicated Google Contacts app this time round.
I solved this problem by deactivating power saver. After a few minutes, Contacts started to sync with my Google account.
