[Q] Phonejoy Gamepad - What do you think? - G2 and Desire Z Accessories

I'm thinking of buying the Phonejoy analog version.
It's seems really nice but the seller does not have any items in stock.
go to phonejoy.net
Does anyone has one of these things?

A link would be nice, so we don't have to find it ourselves.

I have one, its the prototype - was sent for me to review. Great controller, I love it!
(he did give the link BTW, Phonejoy.net - also keep an eye out at Mobilefun and Clove in the UK, they have small shipments going out to them).
Here is more info:
http://blog.clove.co.uk/2011/07/21/...phonejoy-refresh-dual-analog-sticks-are-a-go/

So, can we use the ps3 with the bluez ime? Or just those controllers mentioned in the site?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA Premium App

Nope, still no way to connect PS3 controllers to Android handsets. The Phonejoy is the only option for a PS-like controller (unless you have a stock Android/cyanogenmod ROM handset, in which case you can use Wiimotes).

Datel wii wireless classic controllers with have more buttons... and personally I like the original wii cc even better. Who knows what nintendo will release with the next system

I can't find the Datel controller.
But I want a controller with shoulders buttons and bluetooth.
That's why I want the Phonejoy or the Datel.

Is there any price yet? Crap they r not even in production yet. If they r making 100-200 of them they r gonna be freaking expensive if they don't mass produce over 1000 of these...
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

They won't be expensive, the original one was cheap despite the low production.
The Datel one you can get from Codejunkies (via Shipito if you live outside the US/UK). They pop up on Ebay and Amazon from time to time also.

Based of the first being much cheaper than the likes of the iControlPad, despite having much smaller production numbers than the upcoming one, and the fact that I know the Phonejoy manufacturer (thats how I came to have the prototype for review) and I know that they are having their cases ordered in larger numbers (=cheaper per unit), and I know that they are aware of being very price sensitive.

I've been looking for these controllers, what is the Datel one people are mentioning here? Can anyone provide a link, i'm possibly searching the wrong thing in google.

It's the datel wii wireless retro controller.
But I can't seem to find one from the internet.
So i'm waiting for the Phonejoy to release it's analog version.

I'm gonna own one... No doubt... Simple as that...

Since u r such a close friend of the manufacturer, when's a release date?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

Most recent information is that around 200 will be produced in August, but they're in talks with a manufacturer presently, and hoping to be able to produce 500-1000 a month from September onward.

I think i'm more attracted by the iControlpad or this other controlpad someone posted where it fits over your keyboard and utilizes the keyboard buttons (anyone what that was called or was that just a one off user invention?).
Mainly because I need something a bit more portable for on the go gaming.

I think you're thinking about the Game Gripper...
Phonejoy are looking into making one like the iControlPad, because they realise that the portability side needs addressing too. No ETA, they are in the early design stages at this point in time, and their priority is increasing production of the dual-stick Phonejoy at the present time.

Just ordered one. Let the waiting begin.

Google TV

So I was just curious if anyone was going to develop for the new Google TV getting ready to get released? I definitely want to get one.
Also, will it work like the cell phones? Will it be possible to tweak your tv or add custom settings anything? I don't know much about it, but I was curious.
This is the first time hear about Google TV
Yes, you can either buy the stand alone box or the Sony TV with it built in.

Yup, they are supposed to simultaneously release the remote control app and the TV.

Yeah I think we all do, but I guess the problem is probably that currently it doesn't live up to the requirements for being a *real* Android device (no GPS for instance).
And if Google were starting to make exceptions to the requirements for their own sake, it might very all make a lot of producers angry, all asking why they couldn't have an exception as well.
For 2.3 (or 3.0) they could write a different set of rules.
Hi
does anybody know if the logitech revue will work in australia with a simple power adapter or will it require something more
and will it work with Austar (pay tv service) or will it need support like dish network?
i refuse to wait the extra 3 months for the aussie release, cause apparently Oz is still a third world country

[Q] Gamepad solutions?

Since the Infuse has a beautiful 4.5" screen I figured it'd be perfect for emulators. While they seem to run very nicely, I know that i'm not the only one who completely HATES touch screen controls.
1) They're not super responsive
2) Your hand covers part of what you're playing, sometimes interfering
So has anyone found/come up with a solution for the Infuse that solves this problem?
I understand that the WiiMote apparently doesn't work on Samsung/HTC phones due to their bluetooth stack. I don't really care what the solution is, but has anyone found ANYTHING that is actually working for the Infuse yet?
Yes, I've researched the internet, both Google and XDA, and i've yet to see one instance of anything that works.
Wiimote that's funny, even though in works in some smartphone, I find it very weird if you're an adult. Just saying.
But anyway I think you need this, not a wii mote.

I'm 24 and don't know many guys my age that don't enjoy starting up an emulator to play an old classic once in a while.
I would venture to guess that you are in the minority if you don't play games/emulators on your phone every once in a while.
I'm interested in any solutions you guys may find to this. I came from the Atrix and used my wiimote + classic controller a great deal. Not having it has stalled my emu gaming on my phone for the time being.
I do play games but I can't imagine playing games in Starbucks or some place where people can see you looking at the Infuse 4g screen and holding a wii remote!
I am just saying my take on this okay relax.

I've been back here a couple of times, but I didn't want to dignify your original answer for a response. While I appreciate the links you've provided, your idea that a "Wiimote" is not something very "adult" is asinine.
Studies show that the average age of a person who plays the Wii is 29 [LINK]
In fact, it's pretty much the opposite if you ask me... for some of us, emulators are the only way that we can play the games that we grew up playing. For example, my SNES broke about 3 years ago. I still own about 45-50 SNES games, but no way to play them, and I truly don't want to invest anything more than I have to for a system that will more than likely break, seeing as how nearly every SNES in existence is nearly 18 or so years old.
Do I understand that your idea that sitting at a Starbucks, playing an emulator with a Wiimote is "childish" looking? Sort of, but usually it draws attention in a positive manner when people see me playing games like FF on my Smartphone. They think it's kind of "cool" (not just children).
Again, I do appreciate the links you provided me, and I will definitely look into those as an option.
Lol......i agree with both of you..tech. Is fun,,and can be very dangerous to mankind..but for now its still fun to mess with that is until its used upon people wanting liberty and freedom...go to the market and download sniper vs sniper..i wanna shoot your assr
How about a reply to the question. There is an app on the market for bluetooth controllers. Search bluez ime. It supports zeemote, msi bgp-100, and icontrolpad. Look on amazon for the controllers. I have a bgp-100 works with FPSE which I highly reccomend from market. Icontrolpad would be the best option for emulators but it has a nasty price tag. If the silly ranting banter between people doesn't stop I will request the mod suspends posting for those that are not helpful on these forums. I hope this info helps you. PM me if you have any trouble.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Thanks for the response!
I would actually have no problem dropping $75 on the icontrolpad if i could just guarantee that it would work/fit my phone, but from what I understand it doesn't fit the larger screens.
I thought about buying the zeemote because it's very pocketable, but I don't know how good it would be with only one handed control, I don't think my years of game playing would allow that for games like NCAA for SNES.
I've also looked into the MSI controller, that's what i've been leaning towards. My only concern with that is that I have large hands, and I don't know how well I'd be able to grip it.
this may be a bit off topic as I am interested in finding a good controller as well since I also came from the atrix and loved the wiimote deal. What emulators are you currently using, the ones I paid for are gone. I see a bunch of new ones but hope you might give me some insight as to what you use. I will also continue to look for options and if I find anything of value I will be sure to post.
Go to youtube and try to find a video of a guy modding the MSI controller. I believe he removed the internals and inserted them into an old SNES controller. Also, if you choose to try the icontrolpad, you don't have to mount your device in it, you can use it just like you would the MSI controller. Hurry, icontrolpad is on sale for $50, sale ends today supposedly! FPSE is the best emulator in my opinion.
Waiting for a good solution..

Wiimotes and sixaxiscontroller will only work with CM7 and derivatives (like MIUI). Not with anything Samsung-derived.
If you can deal with a few bugs and want all the cool features of a pure Google experience and want to use wiimotes then CM7 is recommended.

well i just bought this. I dont know when it'll come in but according to all reviews and information this is a gem.
- based off of ps3 controller (looks like they just stole the ps3 controller and modded it)
- runs on regular samsung/htc stock firmware (no need to root or change anything)
- FPSE support, old emulator support (snesoid, gensoid, etc)
Description from their own website below:
They are using the standard Bluetooth protocol RFCOMM which unlike the L2CAP protocol (which is used by Playstation 3 controllers for instance) can be used in theory with any mobilephone that supports Bluetooth. This means that even Samsung and HTC devices running their stock rom support Phonejoys.
Furthermore no root is required. To use Phonejoy all you need is to download "Bluez-IME" from the Android app market or go to the developer site here.
The gamepad comes with the standard 14 Buttons (D-PAD, Select, Start, Cross, Triangle, Square, Circle, L1, R1, L2, R2) just like the original Playstation controller. The Phonejoy response without any noticeable delay, and range can be depending on your device up to 2m / 6ft. Every Phonejoy comes with an internal Lithium-ion battery which can be charged through the supplied miniUSB cable. The battery usually lasts several days of moderate gaming.
On top of that the controller is supplied with a stand which can be used to hold your mobile phone. For Tablets we recommend buying a bigger and sturdier stand.
For further setup instructions please head to the "Instructions" page. Bluez-IME allows a gamepad experience with all apps that support Android's Input Method Editor (IME). Working apps include the emulators FPSE, PSX4Droid, SNESoid, Gameboid, GBCoid, NESoid, N64oid, Gearoid, Gensoid, and various Android games such as Zenonia I, Zenonia II, Samurai II: Vengeance and Illusia. Bluez-IME can also emulate Xperia Play's gamepad controls which should grant Phonejoy access for more than 150 Xperia Play supported games.

what do you mean by controller. as in emulating the keyboard/mouse functions or are you saying Remote Play client app?
my answer would be a yes in both regards. and like above poster, max $3. its a niche app.
Yeah if your talking about letting us pair a ps3 controller with the phone, hell yeah I'd buy!

im talking about for emulators mostly like ps1 snes genesis what ever pretty much
if i was going to pay for it, it should have full analog controls too not the emulated like the wii controller app. some games need to beable to use the full analog stick not just on or off like emulating a keyboard

Really looking forward to this, I hope you are still working on it. I'd pay $5 easily for it if it works well.
Seems like a paid application would quickly become irrelevant. Almost not worth the effort to even start, considering that support is already present in Android 3.1 kernel
You'd be better off trying to backport that.
yes but not all phones have the ability to have a controller plugged into it this seems like it would be a bluetooth deal.

HP Touchpad price dropping to $99/$149 tomorrow!

Hey guys I saw no slickdeals that the price of the HP Touchpad is dropping 300 bucks tomorrow cause they dropped it! I called to confirm and its true, I bought 3 for the full price and they 100% guaranteed that I would be given credit when the price adjust tomorrow at 7AM EST.

I'm DEFINITELY buying one and I'm sure ICS can be ported to it when the time comes since the source will be released for it. This is a SNAPDRAGON QUALCOMM CPU and GPU and HTC uses that for their CPU/GPUs so I don't see why it's not possible, someone would have to write a kernel from scratch though to make it smoother, just like how the HD2 has Android, but it's not perfect since it's not using it's own kernel. If someone actually takes the time to unlock the bootloader(if it isn't already unlocked) and write up a kernel for it and port ICS to it, this tablet can be badass ;D $99 Android Tablet with ICS pl0x.

There are still plenty of webOS devices out there.
Also some clearance outlets online occasionally have deals.

Options are still out there. You can even get newer phones like Veer and Pre 3 and there are 4G Touchpads floating around as well as the 7" screen TP Go. Google around. Check eBay and Amazon. Put "buy" in your search string...
Good luck.
