is it possible to get sense ontop of the honeycomb for our xooms? i loooove the the vanilla honeycomb but was wondering if it was possible.
also wondering if the scribe pen that the htc flyer uses is at all compatible with the xoom.
The htc flyer runs gingerbread with sense, so there isn't sense for honeycomb released yet.

HTC Sense is grounded into custom frame work that HTC makes. So you would have to do a lot of work just to get it working in a beta stage. Plus they don't have Sense on any Android 3.x device yet.

but seeing as how all android devices are gonna be under ice creamsandwich soon, and htc is more than likely going to have sense on it, would it then be possible to get sense on a xoom?

Yeah it's possible but its going to take A LOT of work.
FYI the HTC Puccini is going to be running Android 3.x and will have HTC's Sense.
I love Sense UI, don't get me wrong, but the Honeycomb UI is just so smooth and fluid on my Xoom. I don't think that I'd want Sense, or any other UI for that fact.

Sense would also slow it down (if thats what you mean).

Ginger Bread doesn't necessarily mean Sense 3.0
I think people are seeing sense 3.0 and confusing it with GB 2.3.4
Most likely won't be in the OEM GB release
possibly an addon ??
but you will most likely have to root to get any Sense 3.0 features.
The GB update has sense 2.1. HTC made it pretty clear they are not going to update existing phones to sense 3.0.

Have you been wondering what HTC plan to do with Ice Cream Sandwich on their devices?
Well, wonder no more as one of our internal sources at HTC has managed to lay his hands on their very first internally distributed test build of Google's latest and greatest. Built on Android 4.0.1 (the build is a month old, and it will become 4.0.3 by the time it hits public release), the first test releases are intended for the HTC Sensation / Sensation XE and sport the 3.0x version tag. The usual HTC customisations are present including HTC Sense 3.5, so don't expect any massive visual changes for Ice Cream Sandwich. As you would expect, ICS has been slightly sliced and dice to give the HTC experience - Facelock is present but the new keyboard is replaced by an updated HTC IME etc.
We hope to have some ICS on Sensation screenshots very soon... watch this space!

Why sense 3.5 that it sucks!?!?!?!
We need leak .-)

How different can the ice cream sandwich be for the users, if it comes with the exact same sense UI as the gingerbread?
An increased build number in the settings? not worth waiting for IMO
I want an untouched Ice cream sandwich
Sense 3,5? That sucks. What will happen with devices that already have 3,5? Do they just keep it?
Give them some time, either w8 2 month for sense 4.0 with Ginger or 2 month for sense 3.5 with Ice creame

I dont understand why HTC would want to ruin what from all ive read is by far the best and most professional version of Android yet by adding bloody sense on top again
all HTC needs to do is add Sense widgets to stock ICS and call it a day.
That would be perfect... but HTC won't...
they better not mess it up and make it lag.
I understand they have to add sense on to it as one of their biggest USPs. I dont really see the point of adding 3.5 though other than getting a phone out running ICS. I certainly wont be flashing anything ICS + Sense 3.5, id rather wait for a pure build like CM9, or wait until/if they sort out sense 4.
Sense 3.5 is really good and way better than Sense 3.0 and probably with ICS it'll get better with hw acceleration and remember the post talks about initial rom, probably public release will have Sense 4.0
HTC and all the others are going to add their gimmick with out a doubt. Why would they not? Thats THEIR calling card afterall.
The question is, can WE remove it? I used TB to freeze Sense on my phone and replaced Sense with ADW EX. Now the question is, can I freeze Sense and let ICS come out to play, or is ICS launcher gone at this point?

I don't think you can count on that. HTC removes stuff from original ICS, and then ads sense into it. So I don't think you will run a stable version of ICS without sense.

That sucks. How much of a chump will I feel for freezing Sense, then adding ADW EX, and then finally having to run an ICS theme? Sheesh.
Well, Im sure that once HTC has released it CM9 wont be far behind for the Sensation. I could live with ADW EX until CM9 comes out.
Matt
Why did anyone think for one second Sense would not be in this release? EVERY HTC device has Sense as it's the selling point. Don't like it, get a different handset - it's a simple solution.
Have to say, though, Android 4 is awesome
Everyone sais ics looks good and stuff and yer most of it does but am I the only one who thinks any vanilla Android launcher looks so boring? And the widgets sucks. I love sense, however I'd like 4.0 just for something new

Honestly, we guys are looking at the bad site of what HTC could do. Who knows? It might be even better than the stock ICS...
Haven't you guys seen the leaked build of ICS with Touchwiz for the Galaxy S2 phones? It's still the same thing as it is currently. Same thing with Sense, it'll be the same exact thing, we won't even get the new battery/wifi/signal icons that come with ICS.
I still wouldn't mind it though, I love Sense, some hate it. And plus with hardware acceleration, hopefully it'd be quicker.

We wont get those icons? -.-'' x2
If they put sense 3,5 in it, and it removes some stuff, then there is no actual point of giving us 4.0
...want Sense 3.6 to be the final Sense version that we get for the Sensation? I mean, I love it. It's great. Obviously a more polished version makes sense, however, I think this sense version is pretty great. (I've had tons of Sense phones and have used many roms.) Sense 4.0 looks so... Blah... to me. That plain grey, I like it on AOSP and in the menus on Sense 3.6... but for it to be the launcher bar on the bottom... I dunno. I feel like they are doing away with the glassy gloss of Sense that made me love it.
Anyone else agree?
Yes, I would love to see sense die, but it seems to be popular enough to some that it keeps HTC making it. These custom skins also give a layer of distinction between manufacturers. I know my next phone will be a Nexus phone or a phone that active and successful AOSP based roms. I don't like how HTC doesn't open up the source for the sensation making it harder for devs to cook up fully functional roms.

They do open the kernel source up, but IIRC it's only after a phone or update with that version of the kernel is shipped this occurs.
So my guess is once they push out the ICS update they will make the kernel source available here: http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads

Don't get me wrong, I love Sense. However, I don't like the direction they are going with Sense 4.0. I would like the new landscape rosie and lockscreen, other than that... Sense 3.6 is the way I like my Sensation.
Μe too,I think now they are making it too grey ang ugly for me.sense 3.6 has that touch polish you can't see elsewhere.
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio Z715e using XDA Premium App
I think 3.6 is kinda ugly. Those grays are very real in Sense 3.6 but they have a bluish tint to them. I just wish the current releases weren't so laggy. Sure, they're stable and the lag is tolerable, but nothing beats AOSP 4.0
Personally I can't stand sense, but thats just a personal preference. I didn't realize how much I disliked it until I received a sense device. I used to think it was just a skin and a different launcher would fix it.
It would be great if HTC offered factory baked AOSP roms as an option. So those who want a regular android experience will continue to buy HTC phones and can do so without voiding their warranty. I get why people like sense, even more when you take it back to windows mobile 6.x (touchflo), but as long as sense is a part of HTC phones for the future, I will no longer buy phones from them. Except for 9 months on blackberry I have had only HTC phones for at least 6 years.

Blue tint is a bug affecting some users. Flash this kernel to fix it: 1.512_GHz_overclocked_kernel_3.0.16-g9788208_by_SebastianFM.zip
You can't really complain about Sense 4.0 when no one has even used it.
All you've seen so far are leaked videos and pictures. It could still change before it's released.
I don't if its possible but is it possible for a 3.6 port????

Hell, I like the look of 3.6? Personal Preference i just wanted to know if its possible and you know its a nice OS i think.
I wouldn't expect much, unless you want to downgrade the whole OS to Gingerbread via a custom ROM (has that even been done already? Custom ROM with an OS downgrade from the original software?..). Sense 4 is tighly integrated with ICS, I don't think earlier Sense version will work with ICS - except maybe for single widgets/tools.
However, if Sense 4 is skinnable (don't know whether it is), I'd expect someone to create an "old Sense" theme sooner or later.

Dude,
You would NOT have to downgrade to gingerbread to get sense 3.6
Sense 3.6 is what comes with all the "older" HTC handsets being upgraded to ics. HTC wanted these handsets to look like their "old" sense (ie. 2.1 and 3.0/3.5) so as to not confuse their customers (ie. non techy) with something that looks different. Some poeple may prefer 3.6 as it comes with thing like the stock ics multitasking etc. At any rate, someone might want to do it "because they can".
Gingerbread is/was Sense 1.9, 2.1, 3.0 and 3.5
So sense 3.6 will work with ics, as it is only meant to work with ics, and on older / slower hardware.

Oh, I didn't realize that. I thought we were talking about the old Froyo/Gingerbread-based Sense on older devices, I completely forgot about them being upgraded to ICS too. In that case, yes, I guess 3.6 can be ported over from the Sensation or some other device.
Is there anyway to port sense 2.1 on android 4.0? I'm just asking if it possible to do it?
Of course it's possible, but no developer here is going to do it so you had better start learning quickly and found a lot of reading if you want to do it yourself.

If you wat have a sense 2.1 look, try to download some comercial laucher like GO laucher and download any senser skin for it. If you want a sense clock in the fancy widgets you've got one.
I think so, i have try GO launcher and I have to confess that I'm not interest since it is just simulation. In my opinion, sense 2.1 bring a lot of more convenience for me from the lock screen to other features as well. From the sense 3.0 till sense 4.0 I fekt it is very heavy for our old generation phone. HTC Desire is my first android phone ever. Sense 2.0 give the best experience I never been through, HTC really try to make it better but it seem they are getting the wrong idea, it is just not simply brilliant anymore, anyway thank you very much. I will trying hard to build it my own then.
Simply said you can't. There is no way to make GB framework to work over ICS. Why don't you just use a Sense 2.1 ROM? I remember LBC was really good one
