[Q] Serious trouble with my Desire S - HTC Desire S

Hey guys,
I was on 2.3 Gingerbread with S-OFF and rooted (on sense 2.1). My aim is to get the new 3.0 sense (stock firmware without root etc).
So i decided to retrieve the stock FW unroot and flash RUU, so i can update OTA to the new sense.
The ROMs i found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1002506
but i accidently flashed from RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1 to RUU_Saga_TMO_DE_1.30.111.1 with t-mobile branding.
now i tried to go back to stock europe ROM which i first had, but i am now on 1.30 and i think downgrading will brick my phone, am i right? I am still S-OFF and tried to flash the RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.47.401.4 version but it also shows me, this:
current ROM: 1.30.111.1
new ROM: 1.28.401.1
what can i do to get my stock FW back and update to the new sense without downgrading or getting my phone bricked? i even would be able to give up my root, but is there any way?
now it shows this:
SAGA PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
HBOOT-6.98.1002
RADIO-38.03.02.11_M
eMMC-boot
thanks for your help!
cheers,
swordlink

I appreciate that this isn't quite the question that you are asking, but, if you're S-OFF, I'm assuming that you also have CWM (clock work mod) recovery installed?
Why don't you simply flash one of the pre-rooted custom ROMS such as LBC.

I believe that that is the case, although IMO OTA's aren't anything great..and aren't that frequent either!
Usually custom ROMs have many additional fixes included as well as extra functionality on top of the stock and it doesn't take very long after an OTA is released that it's usually incorporated within the next custom release.
You should be able to use GingerBreak to get root and then you'll be able to download ROM Manager free from the market and this should enable you to easily install CWM.
Now you have CWM installed you are able to download any custom ROM of your choice.

You'll need to justify this statement, it's a useful application that enables you to manage your backups and now that LBC's ROM has enabled ROM Manager support within the latest release (v0.5.4) it's become a vital to enable future updates.

[Q] **PLS HELP!!** how to get back the phone?

I was trying to upgrade the stock rom on my HTC Sensation to revolutionary ICS. Ran the superwipe script and it removed everything from the phone. the phone refuses to boot now. Is there a way I can get my phone back?
I am downloading this stock ROM:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1226085.html but don't know how to put it on the SD card?
Any help will be much appreciated!
You can boot into revolutionary. Go to mounts and mount usb storage. Then you should be able to copy the rom to the SD and flash it from there
Sent from my HTC Sensation XE with Beats Audio using XDA App
If all else fails and providing you can get the phone to load the HBOOT screen you can try flashing the latest RUU from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408961
The file should be run on your PC with the phone connected. You would then of course need to reinstall a custom recovery program again, but that's simple with 4ext recovery updater from the market. Then you can flash the ICS custom ROM of your choice.
The ROM in the link provided says Europe. I had a TMO_US, sensation 4g.
will make any difference/problems using the phone in US? sorry for extremely noob question but just wanted to be sure...

it didnt work because you probably didnt flash the new firmware update. if you want to boot ics roms you have to upgrade
You need to flash the latest firmware that's compatible with ICS 4.0.x. Find the thread in the development section, download the PG58IMG.zip and copy it to the root of your /sdcard/. Reboot the phone into fastboot/bootloader. The phone will detect your PG58IMG.zip and ask if you want to flash it. Use volume+ to accept the upgrade. The device will reboot once during this process. Firmware upgraded, old ROM's will now bootloop, ICS roms will work sexily.

Have you gone through revolutionary to S-OFF the phone ? IIRC the Revolutionary HBOOT is 1.17.1111.
IF YOU ARE NOT S-OFF GET S-OFF FIRST.
Assuming you are S-OFF then look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 Read and re-read the information there.
The 3.12 version (HBOOT 1.23.0000) supports GB and ICS, this is what I'm using as I also want to run CM7.
The 3.24 version (HBOOT 1.27.0000) only supports ICS
That'll get you ICS compatible firmware and radio.
As far as ROM is concerned, take your pick, I'm using Virtuous Inquisition but there are loads there.

[Q] Yet another ISC update question

Hi,
I have successfully rooted my phone 2-3 months ago using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300 and all worked fine.
However I haven't flashed any custom roms or anything on it.
Now I want to upgrade to ICS. However I need to flash stock recovery, right?
I can only find stock recovery for 1.45.401.3 and I'm on 1.50.401.
Do I need stock recovery for 1.50.401 or can I just use the one for 1.45.401.3?
(I have tried to post in "ICS is now available (in Nordic countries)" without ant real luck.)
You're better off just going with a custom ROM based on the ICS build if you can't follow my simple guide in the General forum
What you don't mention is whether you have an original Sensation or the XE. If you're rooted then the OTA won't work.
YOU HAVE TO BE 100% STOCK (except for S-OFF) TO FLASH THE OTA MANUALLY
I can't be it more simple than that

Anyway, I have an original Sensation (not XE).
The only thing on my phone that isn't stock is the recovery.
And I want to install the OTA over air, not with a file/rom dl from xda. The OTA update is pushed to me directly.
Then you need to get the stock recovery from the 1.73.401.4 RUU

Takes about 6 hours to download from filefactory if your don't have Premium account.

Radio gets updated with the firmware.
To get ICS you need to update your firmware.

You might want to SUPERWIPE before you flash the ROM.

It was originally like that, haven't done anything to it
Your HBOOT says that your phone is S-OFF, which means you have full access to it.
On the other hand, not knowing your OS version, I'm not sure you can root using SuperOneClick - since it only works for Gingerbread.
Since you have S-OFF, just go and find "root for S-OFF users" thread in Development and do what is written there.
Download a rooted custom rom (usually a custom rom is rooted) then flash via recovery. You'll have your DS rooted.
Sent from my Desire S
Since your DS is already S-OFF you don't need SuperOneClick. You can root by flashing SuperSu from a custom recovery. You may already have a custom recovery installed by the person who S-OFFed your phone. If not it won't be too difficult to install a custom recovery. I recommend you 4EXT touch. You should also make a nandroid backup from the recovery of your current ROM before attempting to flash an alternate one. Titanium backup is also very useful in order to be able to restore your apps and their data after flashing a ROM. The pro version in worth the money.

Since your phone is S-OFF, you can flash a recovery with fastboot from your PC. It may not be necessary if a custom recovery has already been flashed to your phone. Check your recovery before proceeding to flash a custom one.
Once you have a custom recovery installed, your can flash SuperSu from this recovery to your ROM. You'll then have rooted your current ROM and will be able to make backups before trying to flash alternate ROMs. At minimum you should make a nandroid backup from the recovery ; it will allow you to come back to your current ROM in case your not satisfied with the alternate ROMs.
But take your time and read the stickies in order to be sure you understand what you are doing before proceeding further.

Not necessarily at all. Regular bootloaders, even when S-OFF, don't allow fastboot commands. If you try executing it on phone that was S-OFF-ed with XTC-Clip, for example, it'll fail.
For that the bootloader has to be re-engineered (or engineering bootloader flashed).
why exactly do u want to root your phone? do u want to flash a custom rom or do u want root access for the heck of it?
if u want to flash a custom rom then i suggest you go through this thread

which stable ICS rom

Hi guys,
After a lot of effort i managed to:
unlock bootloader
install CW 5
root the device
Now i need a reccomendation for an ICS or JB rom.
I need everything completely stable, that is highest priority, and after that comes the speed.
Please advise also about which kernel if i do need to change it?
I'm currently on GB.
I want to upgrade only with install zip from sd card if possible, from CW5 or whichever.
THANKS!
If you want an ics rom you will have to update your firmware to ics firmware which is 3.33 or 3.32.I believe you must be s off in order to do this. If your on gb right now to load any ics rom firmware must be updated.then once your ready I recommend to try out several roms for yourself and see which meets your needs best. Depending on your Rom, different kernels can be tired with the different roms. I'm running paranoid Android by Dragun Korr, it's jelly bean. My kernel is 3.0 51 by Dragun. I really love this rom. It's smooth fast and stable. However I suggest you try out several because everyone is different and has different opinions. It's always best to try for yourself and make your own conclusion. Hope this is helpful. Best wishes. Remember to do your nandroid backup before flashing so you can return to your old rom if need be. As long as firmware matches.
Have fun and experiment. I also recommend 4ext recovery. Some roms require it. And it's really a great recovery!

see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
i suggest you first flash 3.32fw then 3.33fw
but you must be S-OFF in order to ugrade your fw version
hm, when i tried to flash 3.33 i got installation aborted
didn't i s-off when i unlocked the bootloader? is it a different thing?

yes it is different
edit:i saw that you are still in GB rom, that means it cames with 1.17-1.18 hboot version
you can S-OFF with this method http://revolutionary.io/
yes, it was 1.18
i did it now and when it asked me to install recovery, i skipped it since i already have it, i hope that is ok
gonna try to flash RUU now

ok then
switch off your device
remove battery
insert it again
then hold power button and volume down together until it shows you the bootloader screen
in the top of the screen it will say S-OFF
now to upgrade firmware just follow the instructions in the link that i provided you
at the top it says PYRAMID PVT SHIP S-OFF RL
i went into recovery again and tried with the 3.32 as suggested and again, installation aborted, what am i doing wrong?
by the way, i really appreciate the support, it's a lot easier with this kind of help, and i work as a support member for other stuff so i know how it is..

that is your mistake.see the bold one as marked
upgrading the firmware version it can be done only via bootloader
it is not like roms or kernels.
see again the steps in the link on how to upgrade the firmware.you missed something
and yes you are S-OFF
yeah, it should find the new zip automatically, the problem is that i didn't get that
but you are correct, i tried again and now it worked!
installing new ROM now, finally
hopefully that will go without problems
thanks again
Hi also 4ext recovery is recommended. You can get download on xda or play store. It's really a great recovery and almost all use it. Its very easy to use and I believe some roms require it. You can download after installation of rom. If you have issues with download try 4ext. You won't be sorry. It's a great recovery

thanks,
yes i've been using it since the first guy responded i should try 4ext
not bad, i admit
Hi there.
I strongly suggest Android Revolution HD. I've been using it now for almost 2 weeks and its rock solid.
Its very smooth with decent battery life and you get some sick mods for it!
There is a link to the ROM in my signature.
