Unable to change SMS notification sound after 1.47.401.4 update - HTC Desire S

Yesterday my phone updated to 1.47.401.4. Now I'm unable to change the SMS notification sound :-(. I can select other sounds, but I has no effect. Changing the volume in settings plays the right sound, but where the SMS arrives the sound is still some default sound I have not choosen.

Have you tried rebooting the device and re-trying?
Next suggestion is to take a full backup (assuming that you're rooted and s-off) and then perform a full reset and test again
Then restore to backup.

I have tried rebooting. Didn't work.
I'm not rooted. It's a company phone, so I'm not going to root it. :-(

same problem her stuck on one tone can choose other tone but keeps the same tone

I think your trying to reset the tone globally and the SMS or Email is set to local. Open SMS for instance so that you have the list of messages from everybody not just one contact, press menu-settings and change it from there.

Go SMS notification issue.

Okay, so I got go sms, and I love the app so far, but, anytime I try to select a notification from "music", I notice it doesn't play when I test it, or receive a text, but when I preview it, it plays. I mentioned this several times in the go SMS thread, and two updates later, the issue still exists. Any ideas how to fix this, THANKS.

that's odd. mine doesn't even select the music. after i click OK it defaults back to current ringtone.
Same I also have the same both error ringtone back to default or ringtone in music dont work. And I thought there was something wrong with my SDcard because my ringtone was save in SDcard. It works fine after I send my ringtone to root/../notification sound. But sometimes the ringtone still goes missing, no ringtone just virbation.

Hi,
you can disable it in Settings - Sounds - Notification --> Soundless
Not sure if the names are correct cos I have it in German, but you should be able to find it.

In fact, I want just to disable memory card notification sound, I had an option in stock 2.1 but in 2.2.1 v3 I haven't.

Set different ringtones?

I am using ARHD 3.1.1 and I was wondering if its possible to have a different ringtone for the message notification and the actual phone call ringtone?
Both files are on my phone, and I want to chose one for each app.
I can set main phone ringtones and contact ringtones, but for message notifications I cannot.

Hi,
I'm using GoSMSPRO,and it has the option to set the notification separately.
Worth a try.
It's free.

Open the Messages app, press the menu key & in settings/notifications you can set the sound used there.
Actually I seemed to have fixed it by putting the audio file in the notification folder on my SD card. It shows on as one of the audio files now. Because before it wasn't showing up.

When receiving a text, default notification sound plays instead of selected text tone

I've had this problem before on Jellybean ROMs. After installing a new ROM I select a text tone and it plays when I get a text, but then after a random amount of time it starts to play the default notification sound when I get a text instead of my still selected text tone. When I go to see which tone is selected, without clicking in to choose my tone it says "Default ringtone (my_ringtone)". (my_ringtone=My current ringtone that is used when people call me, which plays normally.) Then when I click in, it shows my actual selected message tone selected. I'm running v1.300 Beanstalk. Has anyone had a problem like this before?
Apparently I can't post links until I have 10 posts. Pics of what I described are in the form of 2 png's attached to this post. (Very appropriately named if I say so myself)
Set it within the actual messaging app and through the email client you use. Should stick then.

Thanks, but these are the actual settings within the stock messaging app. In the regular sound settings there is no option for text tone. Only one for notification sound.

[Q] Gmail vibrate after 4.3

After upgrading to 4.3, my Gmail is vibrating every time I get a new email. I didn't have it set to do that before the update. I checked the Gmail settings for each of my accounts and the vibration notification is off. How is this still happening? Any ideas?
Somebody else has to have this issue.
You could clear data for Gmail and set it up again or try looking in Settings/Sound maybe there's something there. I'm not on TW 4.3 to try first hand.

I might have to try that after work today.
I cleared the data on the Gmail app and I am still getting a vibration on a new email. I attached a screenshot of my settings for that account. The vibrate is unchecked. My phone is set to vibrate mode right now. It has a sound that is supposed to play so is that maybe switching the sound to a vibration instead since I'm in vibration mode?
I just came across this too after flashing the stock rooted 4.3 ROM.
There seems to be no solution for this, and GS4 people have been complaining about it for a while. Haven't seen a real solution yet unfortunately.
In my case, my phone is on vibrate most of the time. When it's not on vibrate it can be nice to hear an audible notification when I receive a new email. But to be honest, audible Gmail notifications aren't that critical for me. So I set the Gmail notification ringtone to Silent and now my GS3 doesn't vibrate when I receive emails.

OK, glad I'm not the only one that is having this issue. It's really annoying and I might just have to shut off the sound for it. Does shutting the sound off fix the vibration when you are in vibrate mode?

Yes, setting the notification tone inside the Gmail app to "Silent" will stop the phone from vibrating when you receive an email, while in vibrate mode.
