do we have any map and gps program which do not need to connect to the internet for htc Mozart??
There is navigon select. But it requires some work to load US maps. That and you already have to have the maps from the iPhone software. Navigon xap is free and you can get it on this forum but you would have to purchase the iPhone app to get the maps.
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Appart from the Navigon select (which came free with my T-Mobile contract) there's also the $40 Garmin Software
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1158116&highlight=Garmin
but this downloads the map on a per-route basis (not sure if you can download them beforehand via WiFi)
but, as already pointed out: there's Navigon select:

Hi,
I am new here. Thanks for this forum!
I have a big problem with my new o2 xda comet and TomTom One to use the TomTom Plus services (weather, traffic) via bluetooth. TomTom does not support Windows Mobile 6 devices.
I know that Microsoft deleted the bluetoth DUN-service inside WM6. At why-did-we-remove-bluetooth-dun this is discussed. But in this forum exists a workaround at This is an All-in-One cab to install the DUN-service. I installed this patch.
Now my TomTom One can find (pair) the Xda Comet as a possible to use mobile phone.
The 2nd part of the installation fails:
After selecting the country (Germany), the ISP (o2 de), the mobile phone ("other", because not in list) the dial string (at+cgdcont=1,"IP","internet"' OK-AT-OK 'ATD*99#' CONNECT "") my TomTom One shows that it cannot connect wireless. I edited the \ppp\gprs-connect-chat file with a UNIX-like editor but nothing works.
Due to other forum postings the DUN-patch works well with other mobile phones.
After days of searching and changings for the right configuration I cannot find anything to solve this problem.
Do you have any ideas to connect the o2 Xda Comet with TomTom One to use the TomTom Plus services?
Thank you very much.
Hi,
after more and more searching I found no solution.
Due to this and the costs of the TomTom Plus services I decide to buy a 2nd SIM-cart from my provider. I will use the 2nd card in an old mobile phone only for bluetooth-DUN-data-transmissions.
Thank you Micro*oft for your excellent software.
Hello you fine bunch of people out there! I was wondering what was the best gps software for the tornado? And if someone can post a link to where I can find it.THANKS!!!
Use Route 66 Mobile 7 for Windows Mobile Smartphone
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/31361762/Route_66_Mobile_7_WMS_7.0.3040_EasyInstall.zip
not working on my imate SP5. Application starts, shows startup screen, apparently connects with GPS, and shuts down. Any ideas?
of course not, nobody on here knows how to fix anything! I've been looking all day for an answer as to why route 66 7 keeps telling me that there isn't enough memory to load the map and then shuts down, nobody knows. Plenty of threads from like 2006! but nobody knows! AHGHHHHHHHH!!!!! I probably won't get a decent answer for that anytime soon either. Good luck man! and sorry bout this.
try an map for smartphone and will load
i had the same problem
Maps for PPC are not working
Maps for Symbian are not working

You need to buy an SMARTPHONE map for your location
I was looking for GPS software myself a while ago. What I finally decided on was GPSDash (http://wimobi.com/gpsdash/overview.sph2.php?pid=sph2). What I liked was the ability to use custom maps, which are easily made with Google map downloader (for either satellite maps or street maps)
You have to register both to get full functionality and there's no navigation function, but it works well enough for dataloging and knowing exactly where you are.
Aside from that, I also recommend the Google Maps application for smartphones if you have a data plan. It ties with your GPS and, even if you don't have a GPS, gives you an approximate location based on cell tower triangulation.
One more site to mention is http://www.maps-gps-info.com/fgpfw.html. I stumbled across it looking for j2me apps for an old Nextel phone I have. There's lots of smartphone apps there, but I haven't tried most of them.
GPSVP is free too

Have you tried the Windows Live Search? It includes Maps, Driving Directions, From-To-Reverse Route, and many other little features. Maybe not as powerfull as the paid GPS softwares, but surely has got me out of trouble on the road many times. I can post you link if you care to see it, or just search for "Windows Live Search". Its a 700+ Cab. Good Luck
Hi there
I've got my xda Diamond Pro today! All things like Sync with Outlook, transfer data and so worked fine. But I've quite some problems:
TomTomNavigator 7:
I installed TomTomHome on my Notebook and buyed maps of WesterEurope at TomTom-Shop. Then I tried to install the maps, but TTHome doesn't see my phone. But its connected correctly and activesync works as well!
Is there a hint, to get maps installed and TTHome working with XDA Diamond Pro???
TouchFlo3D:
There is no "Remove"-Option on bottom of "Programs"-Page... So I can't remove some unusefull programs!
If you could help me, it would really great!
EnzephaloN
Tomtom 7 is not supported on the touch pro and therefore you need to contact tomtom and get your money back. This has been detailed on another thread. Rumour has it that there might be a version released in October. Suggest you do a search on the forum.
Sorry, but my xda diamond pro (same as HTC Touch Pro) originally came with TomTomNavigator7 installed on it!! So it has to be compatible!
I also was able to install the one free map (only a small map of my region).
Any more ideas?
AND:
How can I remove items from the TouchFlo-Menu? I don't need "Internet" and "Weather" there!
EnzephaloN
How much was your pro on O2? MOnthly charge? I cant see it on the site, i was unaware it was released on tht network yet. Business user perhaps?
I bought it in germany, cause I'm from germany. It costs 199€ with new contract, 279€ -399€ with contract-extention and 799€ without contract.
If it is tomtom navigator 7 and not 6, then all i can suggest is to make sure you have the latest version of tomtom home. Tomtom home checks a file on the pda to check what model it is - in the case of the touch pro, the file contains a description of rapheal which is not recognised by tomtom home and will therefore not connect. I presume this was done to stop people using cooked roms from the diamond to get hold of tomtom 7. Currently tomtom 7 software is not available to buy on its own.
If its tomtom 6, then there is a different version of home to install.
Its defenitly TTNavigator7! See: O2 Online XDA Diamond Pro
Does anyone know, which file has to be edited in which way?
EnzephaloN
I've tried editing the file, but its always over written by tomtom.
As you have a supported version, i suggest you contact tomtom directly. It may just be that tomtom home has not been updated yet to support the touch pro?!? This could be good news for all of us waiting for tomtom7 to work on the touch pro!!!! Let us know how you get on.
Looking at the tomtom website, the map download options still only list the diamond and not the touch pro. Guess it is a matter of waiting for an update.
Hi,
Is there some way I can use the Garmin Mobile XT with internal GPS of HTC Touch Pro... other than purchasing the Card from Garmin .
Thanks
Yes you can use Garmin XT with the internal GPS. You can download XT free from Garmin's website. However you will need to buy maps separately. The maps are provided on SD cards, but there are guides that show you how you can move the maps to your microSD card (and the necessary settings to get it set up).
If you are asking about how to use XT without purchasing, then it is possible, but you're on your own (see forum rules).
well,
actually the place i live is not part of the developed world so they dont have maps available. Some locals have however, developed crude maps compatible with garmin mobile xt though.
however, for using the garmin mobile xt without purchasing, i needed info.
and u r refering me to the forum rules ... why ... it aint allowed ?????
If you're talking about user-made maps you should be able to just put them in the appropriate Garmin folder on your device, but I have not tried it before so hopefully someone else can offer advice.
I only mentioned the forum rules because it wasn't clear to me if you were trying to get retail maps.
It sounds like you probably aren't asking for illegal maps (free download of commercial maps).
Garmin has this download page.
Downloading the software from there is legal. If it will work with the maps that have been developed locally then you are in luck. I would suggest you ask for info on how in the same place where you will get the maps.
Now if you have to install or apply a "Crack" to the Garmin software for the maps to work then you are crossing into WAREZ and that is not allowed here.
i have garmin mobile xt on my fuze. its awesome btw and prolly the only software ive seen worth the money. the program and software upgrades are free which is good since my original installer is older but i have bought the 2009 maps. the thing with it is to use a non-gramin-branded gps receiver you have to buy a key code (i forgot what its called) that way they are actually making money for their products. that will unlock it for use with any gps receiver. it sounds a bit of a jip but the key lasts forever and the maps can also be loaded on to any other garmin devices you might own (like i do).
I use "garmine mobile xt" too under these conditions:

Did somebody make any other experiences that works better? would be nice to know
thans guyz .. i guess i got the answer.
i ll have to download the Mobile XT. Then to use it with internal GPS, i ll have to buy the license. Then use the custom maps ...
Thanks again ..
Hope someone can point me in the right direction. I have TT7 for my HD2 and now need to buy the North American maps. But when I go to the TomTom US site, there's no listing for the map, and in fact they don't even list Windows Mobile software as being available at all - only iPhone, which is pretty obnoxious where I'm concerned.
Am I doing something wrong? Has TomTom abandoned the Windows Mobile platform? What gives?
Bump. Anyone?
Bump. Yeah I've been looking too.
Try ***warez site link removed*** their site is down at the moment, but should be back in a week or so.
I understand the site has been hacked and will take a look at them when they're back, but why would we want to go there rather than buying maps directly from the vendor? Just asking - I don't understand, and it seems you know something.
When you go there, you will see.
Since the site is down due to a hack with no indication of when it'll be back, maybe one of you guys will spare me the suspense and just say what's going on if you know?

Ok, now go and try to select North America and see what happens.
TOMTOM has officially abandoned the US market for TOMTOM Navigator 7 and above, "Due to difficulties with US Cell Service providers"
Except for iPhone because Apple will apparently "work with them", while the other providers won't.
The latest US maps that will work with TT7 on the HD2 are the 825 series. The 845 series appear to be incompatible with WM6.5, which is why TOMTOM won't sell anyone the USA maps for Navigator anymore.

Please quote or link to source of your information because it seems contradictory. TomTom is independent of cell service as it's based on hardware GPS, and iPhone is... a phone, so if there are "difficulties with US Cell Service providers, that would include AT&T, the iPhone partner here in US. Furthermore, the HD2 was recently added on the TomTom site as a supported device, so again your information sounds strange. Color me confused.
i found the maps on the tomtom site or you can download them as a torrent.

Link, to US/CAN maps, please. I don't see them anywhere. I go through the steps of selecting my device, and get to the three boxes where they display the regions, but there is no selection for US/Canada.
I'd rather buy them legally than download them as a torrent.

This from US TomTom support phone-line. The polite young lady on the phone said she went and checked with her supervisor, and with her tech support desk. I am a long time TOMTOM user and was fairly insistent on getting an answer. She was very insistent on 'Can't help you - it will never be available in the US on anything but iPhone.'. Polite, but insistent.
So I regretfully hacked it. It works very well, allowed me to download one city map for free, and I don't expect to get updates for the USA and Canada map I am using. I would have been happy to pay them, I begged them to allow me to pay them...

my bad, i looked and they have maps, but no US . i guess they dont sell them anymore so i guess the torrent is the only option.
i dont know if this helps but i just downloaded the one free map for my city (san diego). of course i didnt try and buy other one and so i dont know if it works.
Any progress on this...?
Thought I'd bump this to see if anything has changed since the last post.
I'm looking to upgrade to Navigator 7 so I can have a version of TT that 'works' on my HD2 (i.e. correct screen format). Plus I want to be able to use the updated maps.
I need to be able to run with both UK/Europe maps and North America maps (for my trips to the US). I am happy to buy these maps from TT. I'm not looking here for free maps!
It seems that TT (for reasons we can only speculate on) still do not support North America maps on Navigator 7.
Has anybody managed to find a solution to this (e.g. Navigator 7 with an older version of NA maps or even a 'fix' to allow Navigator 6 to switch to WVGA mode)?
