For those who can not update to V21e - T-Mobile LG G2x

Did you receive a refurbished phone from T-Mobile?
I was messing with the application and input the imei from the refurbished phone and the program said "File not found!"
I then input the imei from the case of my first G2X (I've gone through 4) and it popped right up.
This is just a hunch, but for those of you who can't update, do you have a refurbished phone?

I can't and I do have a refurb
Mine comes up in the updater as model LGP999DWP whereas the update only shows for LGP999DW

I can't update either. I have V11H (Wind Mobile Canada's version of the G2x) and it says I have the latest version...

This is my second phone and I don't THINK it was a refurb as I got it three weeks after my first one when it was first launched, but who really knows

Jorge: Hello Guest. Welcome to LG Electronics! How may I provide you with excellent service today?
Guest: Jorge, hello.
Guest: I can not seem to update my phone from V10f to V21e
Jorge: I am sorry to hear about this.
Jorge: I would be happy to help you with that.
Guest: Great
Jorge: It could be a glitch we are dealing with here. Let us try a Hard Reset to see if it helps solve the issue. While your phone is on, take out the battery and the SIM card. Now you would want to wait 10 seconds and then you would want to put the SIM card and then the battery back into the phone. Power the phone back on and let me know if this has helped in any way to solve the issue.
Guest: Ok, will do.
Guest: Could it have anything to do with the fact that my phone was replaced via warranty exchange?
Jorge: No.
Jorge: It should be able to update.
Guest: It's turning on now
Guest: "The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update."
Guest: I downloaded the drivers and everything is installed properly.
Guest: I was able to click start updating once. But while it was checking S/Wversion, it said "Model not supporting S/W update."
Guest: this happened about 10 minutes ago
Jorge: But if the phone says that it has the latest
Jorge: That is it
Jorge: You can not update more than that version.
Guest: Jorge, I have V10f
Guest: V21e was released.
Jorge: I can not make it update.
Jorge: If the phone says that it is up to date.
Jorge: It will not take the update
Jorge: Is your phone working fine?
Guest: It is running Android 2.2, not 2.3
Guest: Fine is not good enough for a phone that retails at $499.99
Jorge: The 2.3 update has not been released yet.
Guest: Recheck your information
Jorge: I did
Guest: Then what is V21e?
Jorge: That is just a firmware version not the OS update
Guest: Ok, thanks Jorge.

Where did you input the IMEI? For downloading the drivers? I have a refurbished device and when inputting the IMEI it listed the drivers for my device and let me install them.

Cannot update also, LG-P999-AVC-V11f ... I'm with Videotron...

My IMEI wasn't found either and my S/N said not found also. Tried just the reading info from phone button and it also said no file found. WTF

I get a model not supported message. Yet another brilliant piece of software from LG.

Same issue, 3rd phone now, unable to update, saying it's already on latest version.

Can you upload your executable for the LG Update tool?

I get it to tell me there is an update and then when it goes to update it says the update is not supported (I get this message right after it checks the phone #)
I've tried several times but it's not working. This is a refrib as well and I just got it back from LG repair so it wasnt rooted or anything like that. Guess I'll just wait until someone makes a flashable zip

here it goes

Can't get that to work.

Model DWP here too... no update.

No dice says tmobile...
Mine is a refurb, which I was reading weren't supported with this update. Got on a chat w/lg, they say tmobile doesn't have the sn's of refurbs on the database for updating. Try a tmobile store or you can send it in to our repair center they say...so I go to the tmobile store, get on the phone w/a tech rep, says no it's a pilot program only right now for employees, etc.....wtf?

Software update check - Connection failed/Auth error?

So if you go to Settings->About->software update and click on Software Update check. I either get a Connection Failed error or a Connection Failed due to Authentication error or something like that.
Guess is maybe because phone is not widely available they haven't setup the update system yet. Anybody with one getting a successful check?
You need to download the LG desktop software and have the phone connected via USB.
http://www.lg.com/uk/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp
It's the UK site but the software reads the phone's IEMI so it's universal. It also installs a non-windows USB driver which the T-Mobile manual says needs to be installed for charging over USB.

Huh? Why do I need to have the phone connected via USB for OTA Update? When I click on it it lights up 4G so it's trying to connect over the network not USB. I think the server is just not setup yet.
Don't shoot the messenger. From the O2X forum it appears LG isn't a big supporter of OTA. The desktop app is clearly designed for updates and tracks update history as well as providing the ability to reflash the phone back to stock. I've installed the app but won't be able to tell what it does until I get my phone. Who knows, we may never get any updates via the app depending on LG's agreement with T-Mobile.
Ok cool, let me know once you figure out what it does. I'd be a bit nervous using the O2X software on the G2X as it's clearly for the UK version.
The software has the U.S. as a location choice and it won't hurt the phone as the first thing it does is auto-detect the model number and s/w version. Worst case is it says "invalid phone" or offers me an out of sync revision number that I'd reject. Someone's got to go first
I'll let you be the trail blazer here...in a way it's great LG has an alternative to OTA.

I don't know if T-Mobile would let LG dictate an update that requires connecting to the computer, which is a bit too complicated for the average user. Every single T-Mobile Android phone prior has been able to receive OTAs, including the LG Optimus T.

T-mobile is saying that its because my phone number isn't completely ported from Sprint (it's been over 24 hours now) but my calls and texts are working fine so I think they are telling me a load of BS.

Not so much a load of BS, but more of what they have to do. Ports CAN take up to 48 hours to fully finish. 99.9% of the time it takes just an hour or so and everything works. However, until they wait the required amount of time, they aren't allowed to do any more troubleshooting unfortunately.

how long does it take for 3.1 update to be pushed to device?

I purchased a Transformer yesterday which will be my second one. I returned the first one. Wondering why I have not received the 3.1 update on new device. The first one updated over night. Anyone have any idea what the time frame is for the 3.1 update? I have a full battery and great wifi signal. I have checked in about phone for updates many many times. I have done a search and nothing seemed to come up regarding this. Any and all help is appreciated.

I must admit and also agree i cannot understand why people cant just download the update from the asus website.
I think it is an issue though maybe with the lack of a decent manual,if it was mentioned when you opened the box up that firmware can be manually updated from the site we wouldnt hae to view the same posts all day.
Also it may mean we have a lot of new users which means they are selling the transformer like hot cakes.

Because the serial number on my TF is invalid. When I checked in to register the device it kept coming back "invalid serial number" I contacted Asus and was told to take the device back for exchange or refund as they have an internal investigation as to why units were being produced but not entered into data base and they have no time frame for resolution. Seems it is spread throughout the globe, look in this forum and you will see it is an issue for numerous devices. No valid serial number means NO warranty down the line. So what good would it do to manually update when you have no warranty??? Also why should an individual settle for a $400.00 device not functioning as it should out of the box??Yes not having a valid serial number and no warranty and no update are unacceptable. Please excuse me for asking a question on this forum. I got a refund as they had no Transformers on hand for exchange. I now have decided not to purchase until they get this serial number issue sorted out,(if they ever do)or perhaps looking into the Toshiba Thrive.

Yes Exactly what I did. I checked the display ASus in Office Depot where I purchased the device and it has not been updated either and has full wifi signal and plugged into power supply and I did a manual check and it came back no update available.. I wonder if it has the invalid serial number issue as well. I would really like to know how wide spread this "invalid serial number" is.

Iconia users (me) suffer from delayed updates and then they're pushed 1 or 2 days (by states or regions) then pulled away, so, some are stock, some updated and some have 3.1... wich I think is worse.

actually yes you can just download it and flash it. thats what i did.
I bought mine today and recieved it OTA within 15 minutes of hooking into my WiFi.

Replacement just came with 2.3.3 and July basband on it

I almost did not notice it and was going to flash CMW, and restore a nandroid - lol.
I am going to mess with it a bit and then flash recovery.and do a nandroid of it.
As I understand it, I can then flash a rooted nandroid over it and I will have root, as one-click root would not work (yet).
UPDATE: Had a bad moment with it - could not get into nvflash mode by holding vol up/down. it took the 4th USB port on second computer to get it recognized. Flashed CMW, flashed the rooted 2.3.3 OTA - have got root.
Now only need morfic and/or faux to release a kernel for it. However, probably will be back on EB and CM7 soon in any case.

TMo of course.
LG had earlier only offered a refurb only if after an inspection from GOD, they decided to authorize it.
If you got a replacement phone without a battery and rear cover then its going to be a refurb like the one I got from Tmobile. When you hook up your phone to the LG Mobile Update program your phone will be a DWP not DW. Seems they are recycling phones sent back to them. I was offered a third phone, but I refused.

The model number in the battery case says DW, so other then going to the LG Update (which bricked my previous pone) how else can it be determined?
Mine also said DW on the phone until I connected it to the LG Mobile Update. That's where I found out it was actually refurbished DWP. I don't know any other way to verify it is a refurb other than that method. Also, when I called Tmobile yesterday regarding my current issues, they acknowledged to me that they send out refurbs replacements only. The tech support employee I spoke with said "most of them are found to have nothing wrong with them when we check the phones people send us". LOL! I told her you are just playing musical chairs with the phones sent to you.
keeping my current problems suddenly seems a whole lot better...

I hooked it up and it shows DW after I connect. Possibly they sent a new one with the update, as updating with LG tool had caused the replacement?
anyone counting on the lgupdate tool to give reliable information is misled. i got mine on day one. phone says dw. lgtool says dwp. i'm not sure who started all this dw/dwp stuff, but i really don't think it means a thing. dwp might just simply be second batch. who confirmed these to be refurbs,or newer/better units?
And for the record, connecting your phone to the LG tool just to have it read the model number will result in a 0% probability of bricking your phone. Unless you hit it with a brick while it's reading.
So there's nothing to be afraid of, and takes only like 15 seconds to find out, which is less than the time it takes to post here.
And furthermore...refurb or NOT, my replacement model (which LG tool reads as DWP, but has DW printed under batter cover and under battery) is MUCH better than my first G2x. It has almost no screenbleed, no screen separation, far less random reboots, better battery life, and gps lock is within 5 seconds now. So if it is, indeed, a refurbished model, they must have refurbed it pretty darn well. If this matters, my original phone SN started with 104, and this replacement starts with 106...seems most likely manufactured more recently than the earlier phone.

I just received mine a couple hours ago. I hopped on the free G2X offer of last week. SuperOneClick fails to root. Call TMo and tell them others are getting them with 2.3.3 and July baseband. and you want the same. Especially if you bricked you last one with the LG Updater, you should not have to go down that path again if you can simply get a replacement with it on already.
In any case - insist on a replacement with the latest ROM and baseband on it. I have noted a very significant GPS connection time improvement even with CM7 ROM's (they had been like watching grass grow when waiting on the GPS).

I managed to update it, it almost bricked but after trying various methods people offered on here plus digging out an XP machine I haven't touched in two years, got it working again!

anyone not be updated OTA to 1.47.401.4?

I just wondering as still haven't!
I never got 1.47, I'm still on 1.28. I'm not sure why.
My DS is an unbranded unlocked UK model.
We are certainly not the only people not to get 1.47.
At first I was glad that I did not get 1.47, but now I notice that (so far) only people with 1.47 seem to be getting the recent upgrade.

Seriously. All HTC seem to say is any update news will appear first on Twitter or Facebook, yet when anyone has questioned them on there they deny any knowledge of the update even with proof
The only thing they use social networking for is product spamming and corporate shindig promoting!!
Got a small update months ago which installed an updater, but never got 1.47. Still on 1.28. Unbranded, unrooted.
Interested to learn what HTC told you about returning it...
Yes I got those same updates months ago too! This is what they said after first saying 1.28 was the latest and then me saying I know about some with 1.47
Thank you for your reply regarding your Desire S.
The case there is an update available and you cannot receive it through 'OTA', the device may need to be sent for repair. then your device gets updated to the latest version.
Please confirm the following information in order to be able to book the device for repair:
From which address you wish the collection to happen
On which day you wish the collection to happen (please allow 48 hours’ notice)
The Serial Number of your device. (Serial Number can be found underneath the battery.) I will then book and confirm this via Email and provide further repair instructions:
We can arrange for UPS to collect your device from an address (Mainland UK only) that is convenient for you. UPS can collect on Monday through Friday from 1pm to 5pm. There is no UPS service on Weekends and Public Holidays.

I think - not sure - that this is what was installed by the small update? Or is it for the Market? Terribly tempted to uninstall it and see what happens, eg if it updates again, but to 1.47. Or perhaps just try clear data.
Unfortunately to ignorant to know the risk if any...

DON'T INSTALL 1.47!
Please! If you're looking to depress yourself, google "desire s late sms", look at the hundreds of pages of results, from users all over the world with the same problem.
You lucky ones who are still on 1.28 havent suffered the misery of the problem with 1.47 and the Desire S. Just imagine how much fun could be had, every time you're connected to a mobile data network (GPRS, 3G or HSDPA), knowing that there's a better than 50/50 chance all your 2G functions will stop working. Calls will go straight to voicemail, texts will fail to arrive for hours on end... And then randomly, you'll get a dozen messages at once, from people wondering why you've ignored them all afternoon...
Seriously, stick with 1.28 for now, wait for the next update.
We will need to have 1.47 before we can get 2.10!

I never got 1.47, I'm still on 1.28. I'm not sure why.
My DS is an unbranded unlocked UK model.
We are certainly not the only people not to get 1.47.
At first I was glad that I did not get 1.47, but now I notice that (so far) only people with 1.47 seem to be getting the recent upgrade.

can you use wireshark to analyze what the update sever's response is?
as when I've done that it replys {"time_msec":"1317992280856","stats_ok":true,"reason":"FOTACANCEL_NO_MATCH_RULE_FOR_CID","intent":[{"action":"android.server.checkin.FOTA_CANCEL"}]}
as mine is also an unbranded unlocked uk model

I'd prefer not to install wireshark right now, but I'm certain that I would get the same response.
There are plenty of other people in the same situation. I'm guessing that HTC may have aborted deployment of 1.47 because they noticed that it caused so many issues.
I assume that the "no match rule for CID" simply means that there are no updates available for our particular software version at the moment.
I've just factory reset my DS in the hope of fixing another issue, and after doing so it politely updated the version of it's FOTA loader but nothing else new.
Starting deployment of the sense 3.0 version to a few users without any explanation seems a bit dumb of HTC unless they are simply beta testing.
I could understand them prioritising those who have already loaded 1.47 as clearly this is causing them the most issues. We just need to hope that they don't forget those if us who are still on 1.28

had your phone been rooted before you get it?

Nope, I don't think so. My phone was new, carrier unlocked "sim-free" version from an authorised HTC retailer in the UK. I was previously using an Orange SIM in it, although recently switched to Three. (Have tried to get update when connected to both)

I keep getting an error message when I want to do update.

Is there any update from Samsung?
When I go to About Phone and look for update, I get this message ""Unfortunately, Software Update has stopped".
Any ideas?
I'm with T-mobile and I get "The device is up to date"

I am with T-mobile and I am not getting that. This is weird. I already reboot my phone.
On a kind of related note I find it very funny that Samsung included a way to schedule updates as if they regularly push updates out

Manufacturers are being required to send monthly security update patches by Google. That's where the scheduled updates come in.
The mystery deepen. I reset my phone to factory setting. The first thing after all the log in is done, I go to do the update. I still get that error message in post #1. Anyone else dont have this problem?
That is really strange. This is what I get when I go to Settings->About-> Download Update....

Not getting that at all but error message. I wonder if anyone else.
Samsung remote to my phone and see I got a problem. Even after doing a factory reset, I still get that error on post #1. They ask me to call T-mobile to exchange for another.
I call T-mobile and the lady say I cannot exchange bc the phone is not officially out yet. I told her some ppl are seeing "your phone is up to date" and I dont see it.
She still say no and wait. If it happen after its release, then can do a exchange warranty.
Some said I got a lemon.
Did you have this problem like me?
It appears the S7 Edge is getting an "Urgent" update.

I still cannot update my phone. Still get that error. I have reset my phone to factory condition and still the same. Take it to the store?
I finally go to the store since there was a update. The guy see and put a note in my account and so I call T-mobile. Now they ship me out another phone. Hopefully it work this time. I think there is problem with Samsung QC.
you have to update through the verizon software upgrade assistant. Verizon servers aren't allowing other brands sim cards to download from them that's why you are getting that message. It's not the phone. Your replacement will do the same. That's what I read from researching online. The upgrade assistant is telling me I'm up to date at the moment. My s7 edge had the same error message. It's a verizon thing. To do it from the phone you'll need a registered verizon sim card.

I've found the solution!!!!:victory:
This happened to me after rooting my s7 but guess the fix should work for you too. You need to use Odin in order to flash the latest AP (which is the baseband version) of your Galaxy s7 model onto it. Basically it is like if you were to update manually, after this the error message should not appear anymore. You can find your Galaxy s7 stock rom on Sammobile, you will get several files but the one you need is the AP.
All the requirements for this can be found on YouTube videos which explain you how to download stock roms onto your Galaxy phone using Odin.
Hope it helped.:fingers-crossed:
