Found swiftkey x on 4shared
DL'd it. don't know... didn't really see anything that impressed me all that much.
maybe I'm missing something. guess I have to play with it a bit more.
so far, still prefer swype.
but, it's free and I guess it's good to have the extra option for whatever reason.
can't go wrong with too many keyboard apps right?
Swype all day for me personally, especially since Swype 3 came out with qHD support
SwiftKey is genius. Easily the best keyboard available.

i like it, swype wasnt bad but i never got it on my sensation and i feel like i spent as much time swyping as deleting words. swift predicts very well, only problem i have is i hit the return buttton i think on occasion and make the keyboard go away
I already purchased, but my wife just got it for her g2x thanks...
Installed it just fine, and set it as the default, but I'm still getting the HTC keyboard.
Must be something simple, but not seeing it...

that kinda just blew my mind haha
don't you mean sometime tomorrow?
i was reading about his earlier.. i still think swype could be alot faster and easier to use. It's gonna take quite awhile to get use to all the letters being at weird positions.. i can pretty much type using swype half looking.. with this your eyes are stuck on the keyboard. and imo i like looking at a keyboard more than an X with letters lined up.. kinda tacky UI
doesnt seem good
Oh geez, it already looks complicated and the video doing the demo just made it more confusing. I'll try it out but swype all the way!
I'll give it a go, looks interesting.. Could be a big learning curve though, learning to touch type all over again.
Brilliant ! When you think about it, the keyboard was not designed for mobile devices. There will be a steep learning curve because we have been using the kb for so long but I think it will be much more efficient, faster and less error prone.
I'll definitely give it a try.
ya i love swype too but i will definitely try it. did anyone try messagease?
I am totally converted to SwiftKey but i'll give this one a try too. I like that they've come at the problem from a totally original angle so it has to be worth a bit of time to get used to it.

Hi.
I just got 8pen, and so far I have to say it is an interesting concept. Other than having to relearn where the letters are (they are in no way associated with a traditional keyboard), it is a really easy way to type.
I had to keep lifting my thumb to see where my next letter was, but I think I will get the hang of it soon.
This will be great for guys with big fingers because it just uses gestures, and the user will not have to try to get a finger on a teeny tiny key.
I think they should have had a trial period, though. I did pay the $1.59, a small price to pay for the newest, latest, and (possibly) greatest, but if I don't get the hang of this soon I am going to uninstall. It should not take me a minute and a half to type "how are you".

No sir... but you made me question it. When I downloaded the application, I got an e-mail and shrugged it off as proof of purchase and cleared notification, same with when I uninstalled it. Once you said that, I went back through my gmail and double checked. It appears as though I was not charged.

I know... I forgot the 's' at the end of 'minutes'. I typed that response with 8pen too, it was very aggravating. The worst is the fact that you can't memorize the letters and constantly have to lift your finger in order to see where the heck the next character is!
So I'm using it on the N1 and I cannot understand how to select a letter outside of the first ones (. y i a , e t o). Even doing the tutorial, Step 2: Your First Word...I'm trying to type "you" and it keeps typing "yoo" because I cannot select anything past O
Scratch that...so to anyone else baffled by this, I just figured out you must proceed to another quadrant and then go to the center to get the second letter or more quadrants for other letters.
Hi all,
New to the Android scene. I have an iPhone3gs and am leaning towards the Inspire over the Atrix. Quick noob question. Can Swype be installed on this device?
Yes but
Unless you are rooted (which at least for now looks semi-difficult), you need to sideload it. I haven't had enough posts yet to post an outside link, but you can Google "install swype inspire" and the first hit should get you started.

easiest guide you'll find. Literally took me 5 minutes, and I've never run commands on a computer. Hardest thing was to find a torrent for WinZip lol
@antioch216: Thanks. That was the link I wanted to post!
It's very easy. Didn't take me all that long either. I used the Mac/Linux method and it was easy breezy.
Thanks for the link. One other question. What are your thoughts on Swype vs the stock keyboard? I've never actually used it myself but have heard lots of hype surrounding it.
Thanks!
Swype is really awesome I think. It's really easy to get used to. In my experience you only have to use one finger and it's pretty forgiving in terms of the letters you hit.

Swype is much faster for me once I got used to it.... except when it's messing up. Sometimes the autocorrect is just so bad that it would be faster to send the message in morse code, but that doesn't happen often.

nope, no root required. I haven't rooted and I just followed the guide and now I've got Swype!
AT&T blocks the ability to download from other sources (sideloading) and so this program is essentially a work around, but doesn't disturb any original settings. So if anything happened to your phone, AT&T wouldn't know unless the employee knew about this stuff.
Just follow the guide, and you'll have Swype, it's pretty easy

I believe every time you reset, you just have to change the input mode. It's just a default setting that isn't changeable to my knowledge. It happens to everyone
On my captivate, using Swype, when I pressed in the text area, I got a little button to move the cursor around. I get the same type little button with the default keyboard on my Inspire. With Swype, though, I get just a cursor, and I have to press and hold to magnify, more like an iphone. Is there any way to change that?

So I saw this post this morning on Engadget and it looks to be pretty awesome for the tablet world. But when i go to the market my TF is not compatible with this app. Nothing states in that post that it wont work, just says tablets running Android 2.X/3.X. Anyone able to download the apk from somewhere else??? I would really like to have this keyboard for typing on my TF!!! Thanks
http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/14/swiftkey-x-virtual-keyboard-launches-for-android-tablets-we-go/
I'm guessing SwiftKey forgot to tick the Transformer if they restricted the devices, no other reason as far as I know.
Hope they resolve it soon.
I have it running on mine but I downloaded it from the beta program site. The last version is smooth as butter.
"Update on tablet compatibility: We've worked out why Android Market says Xoom, Tab10.1 is incompatible with SK Tablet X - we're fixing now."
Swiftkey wrote that on twitter a few minutes ago, so hopefully its just a market issue.
Sweet, i hope it's a simple fix!!!!

If you use the market from the website, you choose what device you wish to install it on. The it then automatically gets pushed to the selected device
I couldnt find it through the app store via my TF but i went to android market on the PC and found it. I bought it and i was able to see it in my apps on the TF where i was able to install it.
Also worth noting, and it is on sale for $1.99 for to first 48 hours. I'm typing on it now and it seems better than thumb keyboard. Way more accurate

If you have the Swiftkey VIP access you could download the APK of the beta. It expires on July 20th. I went to the VIP site and downloaded the beta and loved it. So I purchased the app on the market.

+1 it makes me love the tablet even more.
I still dont see it in the market place???
I use it on my Droid X and it feels great! But I'm using Thumb now on my TF and it's good... but I want to tray Swift to see if it's as good.
Also, does the TF support haptic feedback? Does it have the vibrating motor? I want it to vibrate when I type, it makes it so much easier!
Thanks!
I think the thing to bear in mind is that it brings up a spell check box when using the Transformer keyboard. That makes it unique and indispensable.

Buy it from there and install it onto your TF101 via the website.
And no, it doesn't have haptic feedback. The phone version does, this makes me wonder if its related to Honeycomb or hardware.
I prefer having it off anyways. It uses more battery when its enabled.
For everybody else, if you're going to buy this.. buy it now, it's returning to $4.99 after today.

Improved compatibility with custom DPIs and larger phones
Fix Quick Period not sticking bug

That was in the latest update. hmmm.
I was wondering why this tablet's stock keyboard doesn't have the option of long pressing to get alternate symbols and punctuation? If so, where might I find this option? I find it remarkable that my much smaller phone keyboard offers this, but the TF300T (running stock JB) I have to click the alternate key to see my other choices? Seems rather archaic.
I can, indeed long press a key and THEN I see my options, but why doesn't each key have a smaller, offset symbol of what I would get WHEN I long press? Currently, it does me no good if I have to long press each and every key?
Please let me know if I'm missing something

Take a look at SwiftKey (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey). I really like it, very accurate on predictions and customization, You can let it read your messages, facebook and twitter account so it can learn words. It really makes you type faster, most of the time I don't even need to long press to get special characters, instead of ã I just replace it with simple a, like in mansão, I just type mansao and it'll output the right word for me. It's common to happen that I type three letters and it already suggests the right word for me.
Give it a try, the trial period is really big. And it's cheap now, on sale. Check Google Play.

Good feedback on both. Yes, English, and I don't use a Dock. (That's another conversation with me... I have a laptop, and I wanted a tablet...I've never understood the point of adding a keyboard to a tablet. Then it isn't a tablet. But that's just me. I use them for different things.)

I was asking because the dock doesn't work very well for languages with special characters, like Portuguese (I speak/write mainly in Brazilian Portuguese), you have to add a keyboard software to help with that too, not a big deal tough.
Anyway, I like the dock, when I have it attached I have the laptop experience, when I want. If I want the tablet experience, I just detach it and that's it. And the extra juice is a real plus too, the keyboard charges the tablet, so it's not actually just a extra battery. It's good 'cos most of the time I only take the tablet+dock with me, I'm hardly using my netbook now. But that's my case, it's not a one size fits all solution, o'course.
Good luck with the keyboards
So far, not impressed with the 4 I've tried
So far, I've tried a few of the keyboards and they seem too overly designed for their own good. All I need is a long press for alternate keys/symbols where I can see that on the keys. Don't care about the customization, or adding silly smiley keys, or even the thumb keys. I use Swype a lot and some don't have that option or some use a version of that. I'll keep looking!
I have looked in the settings but can't see the option to turn swype on.
has anyone else got swype working on the s7 or has it been removed?
Press the gear icon to the left of the space bar. Scroll down to 'keyboard swipe'. Job done

Swype
It's not there, you can still swype on the standard keyboard. It's the placement of the button and symbols that's screwing me up. Swype is not an option. Could be a geographic thing. Samsung has omitted swype from certain countries for whatever reason. I'm in PA
I found out on the gs6 the keyboard version is 4.0 but I have a version 1.0.81 anyone know where I can get the update or apk?
I checked the play store and the galaxy store but nothing in there...
what is roidbay like for safe apks? are they reliable?
Swype
Swype appears to be in the play store now. A stand alone app that so far, appears to work like the one that was built in. There's a free one and a pay version for $0.99. I'd like to know what the difference is. Using the free one and it's working great. Won't let me pay a link yet but it's in the store
Have you tried the google keyboard? I find it's the best "swype" keyboard for me.
Haven't tried that one much, was kinda clunky when it first came out. I've been using Swype since the Galaxy s3 so I may stick with that. It already knows my words lol
Samsung keyboard missed some abilities in recent days. 20 days ago it had language input and swype , but now i can not find them :l what is wrong ?

exactly. although a year ago Swype Dragon worked a lot better and had more features. they actually removed a very useful feature in the updates. a feature that used to add a custom word automatically instead of your having to click to add it. also, the swiping recently became quite crappy, it doesn't predict words as good as before. if only Google keyboard had a much better swipe it would be the ultimate keyboard.
