So I saw this post this morning on Engadget and it looks to be pretty awesome for the tablet world. But when i go to the market my TF is not compatible with this app. Nothing states in that post that it wont work, just says tablets running Android 2.X/3.X. Anyone able to download the apk from somewhere else??? I would really like to have this keyboard for typing on my TF!!! Thanks
http://www.engadget.com/2011/07/14/swiftkey-x-virtual-keyboard-launches-for-android-tablets-we-go/
I'm guessing SwiftKey forgot to tick the Transformer if they restricted the devices, no other reason as far as I know.
Hope they resolve it soon.
I have it running on mine but I downloaded it from the beta program site. The last version is smooth as butter.
"Update on tablet compatibility: We've worked out why Android Market says Xoom, Tab10.1 is incompatible with SK Tablet X - we're fixing now."
Swiftkey wrote that on twitter a few minutes ago, so hopefully its just a market issue.
Sweet, i hope it's a simple fix!!!!

its up!! just got it on my TF )
Really? I just restarted my Transformer to make sure. I cannot find it in the android market unless I use the browser to go to the Swiftkey site and then link to the market. When I try to install it says "App not found".
yI just got it as well. Had to get it through the markets website.

You mean you bought it on the market website in the browser?
Think I'll stick with Thumb Keyboard.

If you use the market from the website, you choose what device you wish to install it on. The it then automatically gets pushed to the selected device
I couldnt find it through the app store via my TF but i went to android market on the PC and found it. I bought it and i was able to see it in my apps on the TF where i was able to install it.
Also worth noting, and it is on sale for $1.99 for to first 48 hours. I'm typing on it now and it seems better than thumb keyboard. Way more accurate

Yeah, I'm quite tempted to get it but is it a big improvement over Thumbs?

If you have the Swiftkey VIP access you could download the APK of the beta. It expires on July 20th. I went to the VIP site and downloaded the beta and loved it. So I purchased the app on the market.
You could always buy it and get a refund within 15 minutes.
Go it, tried it, and eh.. Prediction is nice but the comfort, customization, and overall size and tweaks and stuff are MUCH better with Tablet Keyboard.

+1 it makes me love the tablet even more.
I still dont see it in the market place???
I use it on my Droid X and it feels great! But I'm using Thumb now on my TF and it's good... but I want to tray Swift to see if it's as good.
Also, does the TF support haptic feedback? Does it have the vibrating motor? I want it to vibrate when I type, it makes it so much easier!
Thanks!
I think the thing to bear in mind is that it brings up a spell check box when using the Transformer keyboard. That makes it unique and indispensable.

Buy it from there and install it onto your TF101 via the website.
And no, it doesn't have haptic feedback. The phone version does, this makes me wonder if its related to Honeycomb or hardware.
I prefer having it off anyways. It uses more battery when its enabled.
For everybody else, if you're going to buy this.. buy it now, it's returning to $4.99 after today.
What's in this version:
Improved compatibility with custom DPIs and larger phones
Fix Quick Period not sticking bug
Learn from SMS only shown on relevant devices
Only show haptic feedback option on relevant devices

Anyone elses Swype trial just expire? Is there a new one out there I can get? I can't live without Swype
if you are part of the beta you should have received a email stating there was a new version.
mine expired too. I am part of the beta though, but would rather not have the default theme that it comes with. Default is always boring, hopefully someone will update their themed version soon!
If you look there are plenty of apk's floating around XDA.
the apk's wouldn't work anymore as they are all expired =(

Lucky me.
I also was/am signed up for the beta. When my skinned Swype stopped working today, I simply uninstalled it, and went to beta.swype.com and *poooff* got my new one, which is 2.4.44.10912.t100 BTW.
***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** ***** *****
EDIT: do you all think that all our Swypes were mass crippled? I've read that Google has an internal method of taking care of malicious apps that way.
Can developers do the same or similar?
I've been searching all morning for a themed Swype, but all I've come across are upset users whose Swypes stopped working.
hhmm.
My swype waas not legitimate. Mine expired. I applied for beta testing a while ago but to no avail. I'm tiresome of chasing hacked APKs. I'm settling for SlideIT even though I do not like it as much.
they never sent me the beta invite?
@organized fellow, Thanks for the version number
I remember hearing that all the swype versions have the kill clock built inside, which will eventually go off. I know 1.56 was a really popular download, so hopefully it was something in the source APK. Google, I don't think has any kind of ability to shut down pirated software yet, but it is on the way, since so many developers complain about their apps being stolen.
Try Ultra Keyboard. Enable tracing, for swype usability.

Maybe you can help me. I've purchased Ultra Keyboard and have 2 questions that I can't get answered.
1) How do you work the translate function
2) When I use it in landscape mode, using OfficeSuite Pro, I can't see what I'm typing. A button marked "execute" appears, but pressing it seems to do nothing.
How can I see what I'm typing? and what does "execute" do?
Thanks

Found swiftkey x on 4shared
DL'd it. don't know... didn't really see anything that impressed me all that much.
maybe I'm missing something. guess I have to play with it a bit more.
so far, still prefer swype.
but, it's free and I guess it's good to have the extra option for whatever reason.
can't go wrong with too many keyboard apps right?
Swype all day for me personally, especially since Swype 3 came out with qHD support
SwiftKey is genius. Easily the best keyboard available.

I already purchased, but my wife just got it for her g2x thanks...

Is it just me or has better keyboard disappeared off the market? I had to reflash generic UK and root/go back up to 2.3.3, but when I restored with Titanium Backup, I got the unlocker for Better Keyboard but not the app itself.
Now I'm stuck in an odd position where I can't find it on the market for whatever reason. Can anyone else check their market and see if they can see Better Keyboard?
I cant find it either, just a lot of other better keyboard add ons there. Might be worth emailing the dev and asking about it, if not see if there is a back up apk somewhere
Found it, I assume the dev changed name:
Better Keyboard 8

I really like Ultra keyboard, does so much and is so customisable but needs a bit of an update - also you have to disable it to use the dpad/touch pads which is very annoying, I love swype and I love swiftkey, I just want them to merge together that would be the best keyboard!

I have Ultra currently, I like it I just haven't worked out how to add a smiley key to it, and it mucks up my colons (puctuation mark - not bodily organ ) every time I try to do one. It is good though.
On a related note, I must be the only person on Earth who doesn't enjoy Swype/Swiftkey at all! Everyone seems to rave about it, yet I can't stand it!
Bit of an update guys, apparently the Developer account was pulled for some dodgy skins in Open Home. They're not going to deal with Google again, but the apps should become available on Amazon App Store soon!

I used all time but recentlt I plaing with roms and want instal it again.
Or maybe someone knows good keyboard with chunky buttons most of them got small and my big fingers always pushes wrong ones.
Thanks
Sorry to revive a year-old thread, but seeing as people who search for better keyboard will see this thread on google, the viable option for those still wanting to use it is to either install the Amazon store or find the better keyboard APK. Both can be found with a google search. "Better Keyboard APK" "Amazon app store APK" For those who dont know what an APK File is (Making this new-droid user friendly) you copy the APK file onto your device and select it with a file manager to install it.
I was wondering why this tablet's stock keyboard doesn't have the option of long pressing to get alternate symbols and punctuation? If so, where might I find this option? I find it remarkable that my much smaller phone keyboard offers this, but the TF300T (running stock JB) I have to click the alternate key to see my other choices? Seems rather archaic.
I can, indeed long press a key and THEN I see my options, but why doesn't each key have a smaller, offset symbol of what I would get WHEN I long press? Currently, it does me no good if I have to long press each and every key?
Please let me know if I'm missing something

Take a look at SwiftKey (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey). I really like it, very accurate on predictions and customization, You can let it read your messages, facebook and twitter account so it can learn words. It really makes you type faster, most of the time I don't even need to long press to get special characters, instead of ã I just replace it with simple a, like in mansão, I just type mansao and it'll output the right word for me. It's common to happen that I type three letters and it already suggests the right word for me.
Give it a try, the trial period is really big. And it's cheap now, on sale. Check Google Play.
Don't forget to click thanks if I helped you

I think the free Swiftkey version works pretty much like the full paid version, but the free stops work after some time, so it's a real test. I used GO too, but Swiftkey really made me type faster, way faster, but it's been a while since I used Go. Do you have the Dock for the TF300T?
In what language you type most? English?

Good feedback on both. Yes, English, and I don't use a Dock. (That's another conversation with me... I have a laptop, and I wanted a tablet...I've never understood the point of adding a keyboard to a tablet. Then it isn't a tablet. But that's just me. I use them for different things.)

I was asking because the dock doesn't work very well for languages with special characters, like Portuguese (I speak/write mainly in Brazilian Portuguese), you have to add a keyboard software to help with that too, not a big deal tough.
Anyway, I like the dock, when I have it attached I have the laptop experience, when I want. If I want the tablet experience, I just detach it and that's it. And the extra juice is a real plus too, the keyboard charges the tablet, so it's not actually just a extra battery. It's good 'cos most of the time I only take the tablet+dock with me, I'm hardly using my netbook now. But that's my case, it's not a one size fits all solution, o'course.
Good luck with the keyboards
So far, not impressed with the 4 I've tried
So far, I've tried a few of the keyboards and they seem too overly designed for their own good. All I need is a long press for alternate keys/symbols where I can see that on the keys. Don't care about the customization, or adding silly smiley keys, or even the thumb keys. I use Swype a lot and some don't have that option or some use a version of that. I'll keep looking!
I have looked in the settings but can't see the option to turn swype on.
has anyone else got swype working on the s7 or has it been removed?
Press the gear icon to the left of the space bar. Scroll down to 'keyboard swipe'. Job done

Swype
It's not there, you can still swype on the standard keyboard. It's the placement of the button and symbols that's screwing me up. Swype is not an option. Could be a geographic thing. Samsung has omitted swype from certain countries for whatever reason. I'm in PA
I found out on the gs6 the keyboard version is 4.0 but I have a version 1.0.81 anyone know where I can get the update or apk?
I checked the play store and the galaxy store but nothing in there...
what is roidbay like for safe apks? are they reliable?
Swype
Swype appears to be in the play store now. A stand alone app that so far, appears to work like the one that was built in. There's a free one and a pay version for $0.99. I'd like to know what the difference is. Using the free one and it's working great. Won't let me pay a link yet but it's in the store
Have you tried the google keyboard? I find it's the best "swype" keyboard for me.
Haven't tried that one much, was kinda clunky when it first came out. I've been using Swype since the Galaxy s3 so I may stick with that. It already knows my words lol
Samsung keyboard missed some abilities in recent days. 20 days ago it had language input and swype , but now i can not find them :l what is wrong ?

exactly. although a year ago Swype Dragon worked a lot better and had more features. they actually removed a very useful feature in the updates. a feature that used to add a custom word automatically instead of your having to click to add it. also, the swiping recently became quite crappy, it doesn't predict words as good as before. if only Google keyboard had a much better swipe it would be the ultimate keyboard.
