hi guys
yesterday I updated my DS at 1.47.401.4 and apparently it worked well, no problem at all... untill about 2 hours ago, when the phone rebooted by itself with no reason.
Now, after the "HTC quietly brilliant" splash screen it remains stuck with a purplish screen, I tried a to enter in the recovery mode but it doesn't sorted out the problem... now the situation is even worst... the phone doesn't boot at all, it's completely dead
does anyone has a suggestion?

Exactly what happened when you tried to enter recovery? and do you mean bootloader? Is your phone S-ON or S-OFF, did you apply Alpharevx? What version of HBOOT do you have now?
Ensure that you keep the phone charged when your not testing recovery and bootloader options.
yeah we need more info to help u
do u have root?
the phone is as it came out of the factory, no root, no custom rom or any other modification and it's s-on
I don't know the hboot version, at the moment because i can't enter in any menu
sadly I think that the best thing to do is to send it to htc customer service

thats only thing.if u bricked phone via htc update they need to repair if u are still have guaranty
Remove the SD card and try to see if it boots, its a long shot but it might be a simple corruption.
It's probable your going to have to send it back though.

And now in english
You can try to install the 1.47 from the original RUU installer:
remove battery and memory card (cleaning the OTA update if present), re-insert battery and microsd and reeboot in bootloader mode (vol- and power). Download the official 1.47 no brand RUU installer from this thread, connect the Desire S to pc and launch the installer following onscreen instructions.
Now (if works) you have a working phone with the lastest official firmware, but you cannot make s-off with alpharevx at this moment, because this also install lastest hboot. If you want to s-off you can use instead the RUU_Saga_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.1
Good luck!
Wow! I tried that same update last night. It seemed to install OK then said it needed to restart. It did then came back with a little blue android with an exclamation mark in a triangle over its head. It stayed like that for like 30mins then I pulled the battery. It's been working since but I live with fear!
EDIT: My phone has been S-OFF'd and I have root...

You cannot install ota update with alpharevex recovery and any rom modification. You can anyway install new 1.47 using separate zip to flash manually radio rom and 1.47 pre rooted
thanks to InfernalByte and heavyhms for the suggestion but I have already brought the phone to an HTC center... now I have to wait about 10 days...

The update did not install. After 30mins I pulled the battery and rebooted. It continued to offer the update till I clicked discard. The phone cost me quite a bundle and I still like it very much so I don't think I'll be doing that again!
after the ota update 2 days before my phone rebooted and i saw a little green android with a triangle on in with an exlamation mark in it in orange colour.
the phone was stuck in this state having 70% battery.
after that i pulled out the battery and reinserted it again.
the phone started but it had stuck in the htc logo doing nothing.
the phone after all the above started not charging and not turning on any more.
i tried another charged battery but the phone completely dead and i send it to htc.
now waiting to be repaired since my phone ****ed up from their sure untested update..!!!!
I updated my wife's DS and now it's dead :/
If freezez while boot or right after boot
It has no root, no S-OFF
It seems, that HTC new update couses a lot of problems here.
I can reply that mine have been updated perfectly with .exe stock RUU. I had S-OFFed and rooted. Maybe it just faulty hardware which starts malfunctioning just after this update?

You need to delete the OTA update (located in memory card\Download directory) or the system try to install at every boot
Ok, my problem is a bit different but I think its connected to this update. When I updated it, phone worked fine for a couple of hours then all the sudden I cannot connect to my network service. Changed 4 different SIM cards from different providers here in Serbia, and no luck. Phone has stock rom, nothing was rooted, modified or anything similar... Help please ?

Yes, I actually didn't have any problem with the upgrade. Am I lucky? Despite that I switched off the automatic system updates.
I only had a small problem today: the phone was very slow this morning, when I toke it. I had to reboot and all went ok. My ROM is the original one too.

Welcome to the internet. Make sure you've got the correct baseband set for where ever you're from. Also check to see if your APN settings are correct for the company that you pay for cell phone service. The baseband change can be done through recovery, personally I am currently using FuFu's open recovery which has the option on the main menu.
Post back if you need more help.

I think you should use factory reset to be back the stock rom - i mean the original rom, then you can reflash a custom ROM: MIUI or CM7. Please use OpenRecovery for flashing a custom ROM, it is easy for you. you can search in the forum to know how-to

It once happens to me, I couldn´t open webpages but I still can use other non-web services like facebook app, gmail, market... if is that your case is just the apn, the one who came for my carrier by default is wrong and I have to edit it anytime I make a data wipe, I hast take that on care because I use market access (like market enabler) before opening market and I wasn’t able to find my apn settings, only the one for t-mobile, and I fingered out by causality

Hi, try to flash the GOT 2.2.1 SBF or the eclair sbf through RSD Lite. There are threads that explain how to to this at the top of the motorola milestone android development page. then get Androidani Recovery or any other Recovery that has an option of changing baseband, then apply the appropriate baseband for your carrier from the OR (Open Recovery) and reboot. This should work perfectly. Good luck

Do you have a nandroid of when the phone was connecting to internet? one with the default rom when you bought it? or may be a friend?, you could try that

Do you mean to say it boots you directly into bootloader, or into recovery?
Have you tried getting into Bootloader mode?
If not hold the up key on the directional pad while turning the phone on. If that works you can get RSD lite and flash it with a stock .SBF from http://and-developers.com/sbf:milestone
Also side note Remember to always make a nandroid when flashing custom roms ect.

First of all, I can barely understand your situation. If you want people to help you for free, you need to elaborate more and talk in a nicer manner.
Second, if your internet was not working, you should see if the right apn is added in your settings>wireless and networks>mobile network (i think). You can simply google your service provider and type apn. E.g Telus APN for android. and input that in settings.
Finally, you could try charging your battery, and flashing it again later.

First, rsdlite will reboot the phone automatically after it flashes the sbf file. You should not pull out the phone before that. Go to and-developers.com and flash a non-service sbf which will wipe everything. Any 2.2.1 rom will do. Then flash VR and try flashing a custom rom. And have patience. Flashing is not a job to be done in haste.

I think I read somewhere a way to make the phone boot on recovery mode automatically, may be your phone is doing that for some reason, you could google on it...
Personally I don't like to use the .sbf because always something could go wrong like an electric fail, that are not that common but by murphy's law it happends to me two times, flashing a nokia 6300 but the firmware was almost installed and nothing go wrong and flashing a bios that was on a gigabyte motherboard and those have a secondary bios for recovery, after that I allays use an UPS (battery)

I think you will have to get it repaired. You can try to re-flash an Eclair or Froyo SBF then flash a rom again, then apply the appropriate baseband and try. If not, I have no idea as to what the problem could be and I would think getting it repaired is your only viable option. Also, if you want to be able to communicate to a larger audience, go to www.translate.google.com and type whatever you want to say in your native language, then click translate to english and paste it here. Good luck man.
Edit: You could try a new OR but I don't see how that would change anything. Might help though

Did you updated Superuser BEFORE the upgrade?
If you did, just uninstall the Superuser's update (go to manage apps and uninstall) and you'll have the old and confy black app of Superuser.
Test it (for example with Titanium backup). It should work. If so, just go to the market and update to the new version.

There was no error. SuperOneClick tought it rooted my phone, and maybe it did, but I could not gain root on any app. After following Beriaru's advice, I regained root now.
I also had this problem. I solved it by connecting my o3d to the PC in debugging mode, running superoneclick and clicking on 'unroot'. I then disconnected, rebooted phone. I then reconnected it to the pc and used superoneclick to 'root' again. I then disconnected, went into the 'superuser' and updated the su file and it works fine. HTH

No, not at the moment. Alcatel has locked it down pretty tightly.
I'm not sure if my phone has different factory firmware, but I have a Koodo 7040T Pop Icon that allows me to write nearly everything to SD, I have tons of big MB/GB games on my phone. I formatted a 64GB SD card to FAT32, works like a charm! I still have not found root, still searching....
Im not sure if anyone else has successfully done this but i have rooted the pop icon
using kingroot apk
---------- Post added at 10:35 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:26 AM ----------
all i did was run kingroot>phone reboots>open apps in seetings> go to kingroot>clear all data > open king root and run again.
I repeated this twice i think and it successfully rooted
I have an Alcatel Onetouch Pop Icon A564C. The phone is good, but the lack of space and the inability to add more is horrible. I can't even use an SD card.
I've only had the phone for about three months now and I'm already considering buying a new one.
