hello guys. usually when phone's plugged in to my computer for file transfer or after that, i cant use the phone. when i press the power button, the screen stays black and i cant touch anything, while the 4 touch buttons are lit up. its very annoying as i have to do the battery-yank thing and turn the phone on again. any solutions?
Yeah. Same think happened to me when my SD Card had bad sectors. Just buy a cardreader and scan and attempt to repair'em. If that doesn't help, just make a back up on your PC, format your SD Card and backed it up.
Hope it works for you too...
P.S. When I was using with my phone during file transfer and my phone freezes, it doesn't go black but stays with the current "frame" and just the LED lights. I don't know what's in your case.
Check this thread out. It is pretty much the same thing.

Also you can use Androidini Open Recovery to check your sectors on the SD card. Works for me.

Hi all,
I have a Tornado which is either broken or bricked. When I turn
the phone on, I see the initial HTC screen, and then the screen
goes black after a few seconds and I hear a soft "tock" sound
from the phone and sometimes the phone restarts this, sometimes
it just stays at the black screen.
A few times I managed to put it into bootloader mode, but I can't
seem to be able to do it anymore.
What may be the problem? Dead battery? I have two and both do
the same. When I plug it to the wall charger, it seems like it is fully
charged (the wall charger has a led to show that).
None of the LEDs on the phone are working. Only sometimes
when the phone is turned on, a red blink for the power.
Connection to PC doesn't work in any condition. So I am trying to
figure out a way to flash it using the SD Card. Do I have to have a
nbh file to flash using the SD Card? All roms I downloaded come in
nbf format. Is there a way to convert nbf to nbh? And does
anybody know how to flash a Tornado from the SD?
Hello Everyone,
I think I might have bricked my Fascinate using Tasker, but am very hopeful someone here can help.
I wanted to set-up a profile to turn off the volume and screen when my phone was placed face-down, which looked easy enough. First I programmed the volume off and tested it and it worked perfectly. Then I added turning the screen off which also worked perfectly, until I turned the phone face-up and the screen did not turn back on.
I can get the screen to comee on when I call the phone, but only while the phone is face-down, and I can't answer the phone or do anything. NO LED will come on signifing that I missed a call, but when I press the power button to bring up the lock screen NO LED disappears and the phone screen goes black again.
When I plug the phone into the computer via USB, I hear the beep signifing that the pop-up screen asking if I want to mount the sd card, but I can't select anything because...THE SCREEN IS BLACK!!
Thanks in advance for any help,
P.S. Sorry, after posting I realized I was in the wrong forum and could not find a way to delete or move my post.
Hey are you rooted??
If so you can boot to recovery with adb commands to restore to a previous backup OR wipe phone.
Unfortunately I am not yet rooted. Can I use adb, and if I can, does debugging have to be on?
Hi there,
I'm having an issue with the my XT720 and hopefully someone can help, or has at least seen something similar. When the phone goes unused for a minute and the screen times out, I can not get it to come back on as expected. If I press the power button, the lights under the four buttons power on, but the screen stays off, and both the screen and buttons don't respond to being touched (ie no noise, no feedback, nothing). If I hold the power button down, it will not stop or start, and I have to do a battery pull (the phone has not been rooted). If I press the power button to lock the phone manually, it can come back to life, but not after a timeout.
This started happening when I replaced the sd card that was included with a new one. I've had occasional issues where it will decide that I don't have an sd card inserted (also fixed by a few battery pulls), so I figured time to get a new / faster sd card. The new one has worked fine in my PC to store data, but once I put it in the phone, this happens.
If I switch back to the old sd card, the screen problem goes away. I've tried formatting the sd card from the phone (as well as from my pc), and it doesn't help.
Any ideas or input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Brandon
I had a similar unpredictable problem. I'm not sure what the core of the problem is but sometimes I suspected the SD-card as you did.
Sometimes the phone didn't show up the display even after a battery pull out. The thing that always helped in MY case was to pull out the battery for 1 hour and the problem disappeared for 1-2 months...
Hope this will help.
did you in anyway modify your phone? that includes rooting etc
i had this problem before but it stopped after i cleared my davik cache and it re populated the directory after i rebooted it. worse case scenario, you might want to try reflashing it.
I've not modified it at all. No rooting, no flashing, nothing. And I'm not keen to reflash it as it's from Wind in Canada, and there is no Wind rom posted. I know others are compatible, but I suspect it would make it harder to get warranty service if it has a BrightPoint rom on it (though I guess I should check the build number and see if it's the same).
I (occasionally) have the same problem. I, on the other hand, have had this issue since I bought the phone back in August of 2010. My phone is rooted, sometimes overclocked, and running standard android 2.1update1. What happens to my phone is that it is in lock mode and I press the lock button and all that happens is the 4 buttons below the screen illuminate but the screen itself does not. To solve it, I do a battery pull and it is back to normal. I don't know specifically what causes it because apparently this problem is also happening in unrooted XT720's. BTW I have never changed my SD card from the 8GB one that came with the phone.
I hate to hear about this issue but I'm glad I'm not the only one having it. I just got my XT711 a few days ago and the screen has done the same thing a few times to me also. I know 1-2 times I just picked up my phone and it did it, another time was when my camera froze, and once even when I paused Angry Birds game until the screen shut off, that time when I pushed the lock/ power button the 4 bottom lights came on and I could here the sounds from my game but my screen was blank. Hasn't done it in a couple of days, so hopefully it just had the flu! If anyone finds out what it is, let me know also because I've seen people with all models of XT phones having it.
Try another SD Card
Thank you, yes I have a new class 10 sd card ordered, so hopefully that cures the problem
Hello everyone!
Yesterday I powered off my Moto G3 and plugged it in to charge. After a few minutes I heard a short vibration, which normally means that the phone powered on by itself and is booting. I then checked the screen; I had to put in the PIN for my SIM card, but afterwards there was no pattern I had to draw in order to unlock the phone (I had one set up before!). After unlocking the screen I can see a blue screen with "Welcome" at the top, a choice of language and a yellow arrow ("next") button in the middle and "Emergency" call button at the bottom. And in the top right hand corner are the usual signal strength and battery icons.
When I press the yellow button, I'm asked to connect to a Wi-Fi network. I haven't proceeded beyond that point, as I don't want to mess up my phone even further. Basically it looks like my Moto G3 returned to factory settings and wants me to set it up for first use.
I then tried to reboot the phone a few times. I always get the standard Motorola "stitching" animation and get booted into the described screen. I also went into recovery mode, but almost every single option booted me into the blue screen and one time I got the "No command" screen. But maybe I did something wrong; I'm certainly no expert when it comes to using the bootloader.
Having described all of that, my questions are: is it possible for the phone to have reverted itself to factory settings? If yes - why and how? I have an SD card with a lot of photos, documents and application data that is very important to me. Is it still possible to retrieve the data that was saved on the device?
I would very much appreciate any help with this problem!
Thank you,
Meletel
You can copy the contents of the SDCARD while in TWRP.
1. Put MicroSD card and copy the contents of Internal Storage to microsd though TWRP File manager
2. Connect your phone to your computer by USB Cable while in TWRP and you can access your phone through MTP
Heu guys,
So I received a P30 as a gift yesterday, it said it had an update so it downloaded. Then it said it needed to be at 20% to install the update so I just left it until later when I could get to a charger. The thing is, I also didn't have a sim card in it.
I pulled the sim slot with the phone turned on (install pending) , and as soon as I did that I got a new black screen of death, nothing like in any of the videos online.
This one allows me to interact with the screen, however the entire screen stays black except for about 50% of the top (like I can see 50% of the battery icon) notification area. The tiny section of the screen that turns on also looks sorta wonky, like screens often do when they get water damage.
I've been able to turn it off, by guessing where the power buttons were. I *think* I even got it to the hard reset menu, but not being able to see, I can't type on the screen. It does react to the soft reset (power + volume down) but when it turns back on, it won't even show the logos on boot, everything still stays black minus a section of the notification bar.
Is there a way to do a hard reset without being able to interact with the screen at all? Can I do it using my computer somehow?
I know the screen is not broken because I can interact with it. Also on 1 of the 30 soft resets I did, the screen flickered some sort of error message for a quarter of a second, so fast all I could do was see it was text.
I'd just return the phone but it was a friend's old work phone and there is no way to get a replacement.
I recommend you to use Hisuite on a computer, try to connect the phone (I said try because you must select the type of connection on the phone). If the phone connects to Hisuite, use the recovery option to reinstall the default firmware. Good luck!

this might be my only option. I was trying to find something just like that. Couldn't figure out if there was a software for it or not. Thanks will try when I get back to a computer tomorrow!
