Hi guys, i've tried searching for the fix before posting but i was unsuccessful. i installed dutty's rom on my att tilt now i cant use my keyboard wen texting because of the xt9 and other keys not being mapped correctly. ive tried to mess with the xt9 settings and the word completion settings but nothing seems to fix it. when i type a text the predictive text pops up and i have to push over on the directional pad to move the curser over then continue typing. also some of the alternate characters dont match up to the keyboard. is there any way to fix it? thanx in advance..
HOW TO Disable XT9
Have a Read here

By request I put together a blue theme for a friend so I figured i would share.
Every thing is stock sense except for a couple changes that were made to stock images.... all the green has been removed from framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk and has been replaced with blue. I re-drew all the .9pngs and there should be no major bugs... if there is please let me know. Location icon was also removed.
This theme will work on any 2.1 based sense rom.

Sorry I've been busy working on putting together themes for the community. You want to put the zip file on your sdcard then boot into recovery. You can boot into recovery by holding the - volume button and then power when your phone is off then choosing the appropriate options on the bootloader screen. Once you get into recovery, select the choose zip from sdcard option and find the theme.
You must be rooted in order to apply. If you don't know how to flash a zip from recovery then you may need to do more reading before modding your phone. If you need more assistance than this, please donate and I will walk through the process via gtalk or gmail. Please don't post rude comments because haven't replied for a day.
Thank you that is all.

Yeah, my fault man. Thanks for your work. I'm not rooted & don't know how & don't know as much as I should about how to do all that stuff, so I don't guess I'll be using this theme. It's hard to learn just by reading when you don't know what a lot of stuff you're reading even means.
i just tried this. just noticed that you said you removed the location bullseye icon. you did, but it leaves a black space where it used to be. something else needs to be edited for the icon and the blank space to completely go away.

Unless you can get me source code for htc sense, i don't see this happening anytime soon. This is probably coded deep into the framework...
Running this until the red is ready. Can the progress bar be blue too?

I dont pretend to know a lot about theming for Android, cause I dont, but can you replace the missing icon with a transparent blank image causing the black box to disapear and show the bar below it?
I understand it wont remove it completely but it might help for the black box he is seeing.

Have you loaded the theme up? His issue is the space the invisible icon takes up, there is no black box.

It's really not that hard and the feeling of accomplishment you will get by doing it yourself will be worth it.
Just do it.
Just used this method and it was super easy! Got rid of that stupid VZW name and replaced it with something cool. Thanks a bunch!!

Wanted to thank MD for starting the thread and Casen for the lnk. Very cool. I now have "android droidX".
MD- how far have you got? Try downloading the android sdk and you can start experimenting with ADB (android debug bridge). If you just google "android sdk" you can go right to google's site and they have instructions there. Or maybe you have all ready messed around with ADB?
anyways, cheers for the good question.
Thanks and idk im trying to look for a easier way first. Theres a app out there it just doesnt support DX yet.

I had that same problem originally. Did you follow the directions on the link exactly? If you push the framework-res.apk back to the phone while it is running "normally"- that is what happens (or it happened to me at least).
But when I booted into recovery, mounted system (it will actually read unmount when it is mounted) and then pushed the apk- I didn't have that problem.
I am not sure if that was the only step that made the difference- but is the only one I can think of.

Thanks. I couldn't get my system to recognize the phone while in recovery. I ended up mounting the system while the phone was in Media Sync Mode, issuing the "stop" command, replacing the files and rebooting. Worked like a charm. :-D

That sounds easier. I am no ADB wizard. Could you type it out for me?
Code:
mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
etc.
Or whatever commands you issued?
Thanks.
It's much easier to use Android Terminal Emulator on the phone instead of the cable/ADB method.

A couple of things...
1. This is in no way meant as a "come back". Just my view.
2. Whether it is easier to use terminal or not - I still need the commands.
3. And for me it is easier to use a full size key board. The USB cable is less of a hassle to me then the mini touch screen keyboard.
Again- that's just me.
Guys is there any way to turn off battery full notification sound? I run EB1.05 and I charge the batt overnight so it's kinda annoying when it wakes me up every time...
Thanks!
You should be able to delete it in system/media/audio, i know my phone doesnt make the sound anymore so i must have deleted it when i deleted the anoying power on and off sounds

You need to use an app like Root Explorer or you can use terminal emulator and type in these commands (all without quotes and press enter after each one):
"su"
"cd /system/media/audio/ui"
"ls" -- this will list all of the files in the directory, find the one that you want to get rid of then type
"rm <filename>" replacing <filename> with the name of the file you want to remove. Hope this helps!
If you don't want to use adb or the terminal, download a program onyour computer called Android Commander. It's a gui that does the command stuff for you.

Why is It That when I Go To Do A Back up The Bar at the Bottom Doesnt Move.. It Doesnt Show Like The Progress/ Percentage... At all.... Is It Sopposed To Take That Long I Let It Sit For 6 Mins And Nothing Did It Twice.. It Shows S-off...But Idk im I Missin A Step?
Please Help
It is longer, but I noticed this is also because on my Nexus S most roms were 70-90MB in size, where as now on this phone they are 350-400MB in size. So they will take much longer. I have noticed that the progress bar also does not seem to move when doing so, and sometimes I catch it go half way then full but it is not as fluid as some of the other phones.
this is B4 Installin The Rom Tho... Im Up To

3. Start clockworkmod recovery [CHECK]

yeah, dont worry, the bar doesnt show any "progress" (it'll prolly be fixed in the next update) bt it is infact doing the back up, just be patient, and even if you read below that it tells you what its doin till it finishes
I Apreciate Everyones reply's But Thats The thing It Doesnt say When The Back Up Is Done...So How do I Know When The Back Up is Done... So I Dont Know Where To click, Ive Clicked Every Button, I Had To take Out The Battery...But Then When I Go Back To The Retore..there Seems To be a Back Up... But Who Knows If I Might Of Canceled It Half way Thru The Back Up.... And Then imagen When I Go To back Up... And Its Corrupted...

I've found that the setting to show progress is actually stuck off when you first install Rom Manager, even though it is checked.
Uncheck and recheck the option in Rom Manager settings, and it should show your progress from then on.

i dint realize that, but i looked at mine and realized that it was unchecked, which means that the backup/restore should show progress bar but if u check the box then it disables this. so we'll c if i get a progress bar next time.

still havent figured out this multiquote thing...
bt anyway, you need to download rom manager from marked and grant it su permission and then look in the settings
but if your restore doesnt even show you what its doing? (it'll say restoring system, then restoring data.....blah blah) and just stays there black, then maybe you have a bigger problem. hopefully someone here with more experience with this can help you out on that one

Just saw that post too, and am running a backup right this second. I am indeed seeing a progress bar again.
ROM Manager says that this will slow down the process, but it'll be worth it to satisfy the anal-retentive part of my brain that can't stand being without visual indicators of progress!
Big thanks to gbzbar for pointing out that setting that I know a lot of people have missed thus far!
