Hi ppl,
I am looking for a device which is a UMPC + GSM Phone. The OS required is Windows so that I can sync it to my Office Emails.
I came across a very good device - HTC Shift but unfortunately it does not allow voice calls on GSM network - very disappointed.
Can anyone advice?
I have read threads where ppl have cracked smhw the HTC Shift and are using it as a cell phone. But I ain't familiar with that kinda stuff.
cheers,
HTC Shift had all that I had wanted.. !! Except the cell phone (voice calls through GSM) option ..
You could try the HTC HD2. It is an excellent device which has Windows Mobile (but is capable of much more).
Yep...HD2. Windowns based and works really well.

Hi All,
I have been researching the new HTC EVO 4G, and i love it. I have been an iPhone suck in the past and have finally realised why apple should stick to making things looks nice rather than function well.
I have been reading that the HTC EVO runs on the CDMA network which Australia had turned off in 2006,
Is there any modification that can be made for this brilliant phone to work in Australia.
If so please inform me as i will be buying one asap.
Thanks in advance
Hey, I don't believe there is anything you can do as you would have to replace the radio on the phone and associated firmware. Another down side to using the evo in australia is the is no 4g service available.
Technically (I think) it should work with Vivid Wireless which is a new WiMax provider. They are only in Perth at the moment, but are due to launch over east very soon.
The problem though is that Vivid is only an internet provider. If you wanted voice calls you would need to use their VoIP service (or someone elses).
Hello everyone,
My current smart phone's screen has failed for a second time and i am looking purchase a new phone. I've done a bit of research and I have an eye on the HTC legend. it seems to be able to do everything i want it to do. I currently have a plan with FIDO. I read that there were some potential issues that may arise and i was hoping someone here would be able to clear it up for me.
I dont fully understand the nuances with frequencies, EDGE, 3G etc. Will the HTC Legend work properly on FIDO's network? will i be able to surf the internet and use my gps and text and talk without too much trouble. I expect a bit of an adaptation period as with any change (I have a Xperia X1i now)
Basically, can i just plug my sim card, put in my mms/internet settings and have the Legend work correct?
Thanks.
I've been with T-Mo for the last 6 years and I just switched from T-Mobile and the HD2 to AT&T and the Inspire 4G due to the internet service going from great to virtually non-existent in the last 6 months on T-Mo....
I love the Inspire but I am extremely annoyed with the fact the Bluetooth wont connect to my almost new Sony Vaio Laptop with built in bluetooth, or anything else for that matter... It says it is "Paired" but I can't send or receive anything via Bluetooth.
Would somebody be so kind to help me fix this thing... I've called AT&T, HTC and Sony and nobody seems to be able to help me get it fixed.
Thank you...
Hi everyone... I'm not having much luck with this, technology has passed me by. I am NOT looking for tethering nor am I interested in using online fax services.
My old cell phones used to be able to connect to the computer and be used as a dialup modem. Does anyone know how I can get my HTC Sensation 4G (ARHD 6.6.3 XE) to do this so I don't have to scramble for a fax machine outside my house.
I believe the first step would be to find a modem driver (Windows 7) for my HTC device. All the drivers out there seem to be USB drivers...
Thanks
i dusted off my old Sprint PPC6800 (got the itch for a few old WM6 games i used to play way back when i had a Windows mobile phone & PocketPC) i had to see if dialing it'd still connect , i mean i do get a service message from Sprint where i can buy time per month, but looking online these era of phones are dying off and will mostly all be unable to use any Network post 2020 (AT&T's shutoff CDMA/GSM apparently for 2G devices, and if mem services the HTC Mougl is a 2G? device or 3G?)
any means to do something like Wifi calling? if not a simple explanation's all thats needed, Not that i absolutely need any kind of calling service on the thing, it's just a nostalgia Icing on the cake of getting to use the thing again. (i have an Samsung Galaxy J3 Luna Pro as my daily driver, so i'm all set there. )
