Running a HTC Evo 4G, I installed this Rom no issues everything went great.

I would have just asked the question in there but I have to start a new thread out here because I'm new to this forum.
I can't seem to get the voice recognition to work anymore for searches or navigation. I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing, but I haven't found it yet.
Thoughts or things to try?

Apparently this feature is acting up on other devices but was wondering if anyone had this working on their G2x and if so how did you manage to get it working?

What sort of issues are you having, and what ROM are you using? I had some issues with bluetooth and tts with CM7. I've switched over to EB 2.3.3, and all is working well.
Make sure you have everything you need installed.
Go to settings/voice input & output/text-to-speech settings/
If "Install voice data" isn't grayed out, click on that...it will take you to the market to download the voice engine.
I haven't noticed any problems with my tts, running my current ROM, but I also don't use Pico. I use Svox. It cost around $2-3 for the voice download, but it's much nicer than Pico.
Good Luck.
I'm running stock GB 2.3.3
I was hoping it would read text as they came in similar to the new WP7 Mango update but apparently the framework doesn't support that yet.
It takes me to the market, i download the application but then it uninstalls itself and shows that i have never downloaded the application before. I might install Faux123 rom and see if i can get it to work.

What app are you trying to d/l? I've never really tested out text message readers. I know Handcent will read the text, but IDK if you can set it to read as they come in.
I did test out Vlingo way back, and I must say...it was pretty good. I just don't like that it requires data usage (I'm on a limited data plan). But, for reading texts, Vlingo was pretty awesome. It even understood things like LOL (rather than say L-O-L, it would read it as "laughing out loud"). It even translated WTF, which of course made me laugh like a 12yr old kid.
I'm not downloading any. I was hoping the stock messaging application would do this as i kind of like the layout but sucks as far as security is concerned but that is an android thing.
I'll give the Vlingo a try and see if it works.
Thanks for the help.
Hey everyone,
This is my first post on XDA, trying real hard not to noob it up. Anyway, I've looked at other threads on this topic and found nothing definitive:
For some reason on InsertCoin 2.2.6 and 2.3, the HTC IME Trace capability only seems to work on a small number of stock apps like Messages and Mail. On my fiancee's stock (TMOUS) phone she can trace all day on text search/web URL boxes/pretty much anytext field will allow "tracing". However, once I flashed to InsertCoin I am restricted to only being able to trace on a handful of fields.
Needless to say this is driving me absolutely nuts since I got used to typing that way on everything! I've tried all kinds of combinations of keyboard settings and nothing seems to change this.
I even tried flashing that .apk version of the HTC IME keyboard, but that did nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
You may get better results if you ask this question in the InsertCoin development thread.
After paying someone $20 to root my phone I decided to explore other Roms. I installed many for my G2X. I found one thing in common with many of them. I seem to me missing the stock Voice search that came with the phone. Eagle Blood 1.05 seems to keep this option but others delete it. Any ideas on why? If you need more info let me know.
thanks
On Weapon 3.0 it works fine. The first time you use voice search it promts you to download the most recent version and you are good to go.
Download Voice Search by Google in market.
Curious if anyone else is experiencing the pain I am. I cannot use VVM at all on my Skyrocket EXCEPT if I'm running the "unnamed" ROM 1.1.2.
Which I cannot use because of a Google Contacts syncing issue. Let me break it down:
VVM issue: used pretty much all ROMS including stock. Unable to use att vvm, google voice, youmail, etc. However, using unnamed 1.1.2, VVM from att works, but google contacts sync incorrectly. I would have made these separate issues in dev, but I just started posting.
Good news, AT&T is replacing my phone (their tech support was actually competent), but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced these issues.
You don't have to trust me on this, but please do I did plenty of research this week on workarounds and nothing work. I hate asking for help dammit!
Has anyone ever managed to get AT&T Visual Voicemail to show in the stock dialer app? I'm aware of AT&T's crappy VVM app, but I was really hoping someone knew of a flag, adb command, patch, hack, whatever to get in to show in the dialer when on AT&T. I had this feature on iPhone and Windows Phone in the past and it seems strange that AT&T and Google can't seem to play nice on this. The last thread I found on this topic was several months ago and just directed the poster to use the separate app, I'm hoping to avoid that.

I'm looking for the same thing but couldn't find anything other than stupid AT&T app.
