[Q] InsertCoin trace keyboard issue (doesn't work on all fields) - HTC Sensation

Hey everyone,
This is my first post on XDA, trying real hard not to noob it up. Anyway, I've looked at other threads on this topic and found nothing definitive:
For some reason on InsertCoin 2.2.6 and 2.3, the HTC IME Trace capability only seems to work on a small number of stock apps like Messages and Mail. On my fiancee's stock (TMOUS) phone she can trace all day on text search/web URL boxes/pretty much anytext field will allow "tracing". However, once I flashed to InsertCoin I am restricted to only being able to trace on a handful of fields.
Needless to say this is driving me absolutely nuts since I got used to typing that way on everything! I've tried all kinds of combinations of keyboard settings and nothing seems to change this.
I even tried flashing that .apk version of the HTC IME keyboard, but that did nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

You may get better results if you ask this question in the InsertCoin development thread.

[Q] Stock Dialer / Contact manager on new roms?

Does anyone know whether any of the new ROMs have a stock dialer and/or contact manager. While I do not mind Sense 3.0 I just cannot stand the teenie font size of the contacts above the phone dialer and how awkward it is to use. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Agree completely! Coming from an N1, these are what I HATE first and foremost about the Sensation. The Stock Dialer and Contact Manager are the two most basic functions that make a device a "phone"... On the Sensation they are glaringly ugly and counter-intuitive to use. [Why ruin something that is so perfect on stock??]
Every time I try to use it as a phone, I'm tempted to return it to T-Mo! Received the OTA update this morning... ready to move on now... will be interested to see replies to the OPs question... thanks!
my thoughts exactly....the stock contact manager / dialer works perfectly......the little handle on Sense 3.0 used to move through the alphabet is ridiculously small and the button touched to gather more information about a contact is teenie as well. Given this is the most basic part of the phone, I am rooting the moment I find a ROM that solves this frustrating issue!

[Q] Question about texting w/ Custom ROM's

So I have the Android Revolution HD 3.0.3 ROM flashed to my phone and I noticed that when I use the swype feature during texting it will suggest some of the stupidest words that I'm not even close to using. Is the list of words different because it's not a TMOUS ROM? How can I fix it. I find myself having to type text in landscape because swyping is useless. Thanks!
Your issue is with Swype itself, not the rom. I'm using Swype beta now and it seems to be pretty accurate for me. You can go into settings, keyboards, Swype settings, and then move the slider over to prefer accuracy over speed. It has made a dramatic difference for me. Should work for you also.
If you are referring to the trace feature and not the actual swype keyboard app, then yes the correction/suggestions will be affected by the rom.
I should have been more accurate and saying its the trace feature not swype itself. How do I alter the suggestions of my trace feature? I flashed a TMOUS ROM and its a lot better.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using xda premium
Though I am not sure, I would assume the preset dictionary would be in the lib file associated with the keyboard apk. I would post the question in the arhd thread or just swap it out and see what happens. Mike is really good about answering questions.
I have a really weird problem, I think it is due to the custom rom that I installed in it?
I have a problem with sending messages (sms) to all of my contacts, it lists the problem as 'message sending failed after several attempts'. I tried using GO SMS but to no avail. I have tried to select another service provider and select my service provider again, but nothing changes. I have checked the service number with service provider and it is correct, and when i try texting on another phone, it seems to work.
I have tried several insertcoin roms, and they all don't seem to work for me. Everything else is fine, recieving texts, calling, internet browsing, etc etc. Everything is fine except sending messages, which is kind of annoying.
Using Insertcoin Sense Android 2.3.4 Stable 2.5.5.
Any help on this would be great!!!

[Q] Android Contact Pics - Current Recommendation

I've found many similar past threads about this, but I'm hoping to get the current recommendation to avoid blurry/pixelated contact pictures (linked to Facebook) on my Android phone (HTC Sensation). The problem is particularly noticeable in the HTC People widget and image pop-up when someone calls me.
The stock Sense 3.0 ROM that came installed on my phone includes 'Facebook for HTC Sense' which seems to alleviate the problem. However, all Sense 3.5 ROMS I've tried flashing no longer include 'Facebook for HTC Sense' and suffer from the crap resolution problem.
Other threads have indicated that this is a problem with syncing contacts with a Google account, which I do. I'm nervous to change this setting, as I've lost my entire contact list before and like knowing that it's synced to something as sturdy and central to my life as my Google account.
In any case -- can someone speak to the present cause of the problem and the current recommended workaround?
Thanks in advance.
I am also looking for an answer, but to no avail. I am running the Incredible 2. Hopefully this post will bring this up thread up and someone will have an answer.

[Q] HTC Keyboard on CM7

Simple enough. After a long time of searching here and elsewhere, I have found no way to install the official HTC_IME keyboard on a ROM that doesn't already have it. Any attempts to do so just cause a Force Close upon trying to interact with it in any way.
And do not bother saying "just try _____ instead". If I wanted to try a different keyboard, I wouldn't be posting this thread.
I have a logcat that says "Unable to instantiate activity ComponentInfo", which I read is a problem with activities not being defined in AndroidManifest.xml. But unfortunately, the AndroidManifest.xml that comes with HTC_IME is junk. Trying to open it in any program either shows you what looks like non-western encoding, or it won't open it at all.
If anybody has any insight, that would be delightful. Either something I could try to make it work, or providing the logcat that shows all the errors that popped up, or something. Anything to finally get the Sense 3.5/3.6 HTC_IME working on our phones.
If nobody has any idea about this, does anybody at least know how I might go about figuring out any aspects of this problem besides the shot-in-the-dark Googling I've been doing trying to figure this out?
Just in case, I have attached the aLogcat file that I saved, filtered by the app to just show errors (which in this case, is only the errors generated by trying to access the keyboard via the Settings menu). If desired, I can generate and attach one for when you try to actually activate the keyboard via the Input Method operation.
I took the HTC IME apk from the HD revolution rom (system/apps) and pushed it onto my sensation's Virtuous Inquisition and I got it working except for the swype part.
I tried that. But unfortunately, CM7 is definitely missing libraries and/or other files needed by the apk file. Virtuous would be likely to have them because it's built from a Sense ROM, as opposed to CM7 most definitely *not* being built from anything but pure Android.
Someone had thought they found all the files needed to use the keyboard, but trying that did nothing for me, which means either more files are needed, or maybe something has to be done with the very messy and nearly uneditable AndroidManifest.xml file. But it seems that nobody on the forums has any idea. I had rather hoped that a developer might at least know, but of course I appreciate any input.
Would this work?
I'm not sure, but I'm certainly going to download it and give it a shot. Whether it works or not, thanks for the heads up. You've reminded me that I should also look around the forums of other qHD HTC phones in case somebody has figured something out in one of those.
Edit: Bah, of course the download link doesn't work. Every time I try, ESET kicks in and complains. Even when I shut it off. And once I finally got ESET to shut up, IE just refused to download the file anyway.
nvm i signed up for swype beta lol.

2 page text > 160 characters

When I first got my phone and it was completely stock, I could send texts > 160 characters. They would come out as gibberish, but then I found out the stock messaging app had a splitter option. Enabled that and everything was great.
Then I rooted my phone, and have installed many many different ROMs/Kernels since (currently using Madman's latest ROM which is a slightly modded version of Bugless Pete's ICS, and AirKernel)
Ever since, I have been unable to send 2 page texts (the counter gets to 0, and then just cuts me off). This is incredibly annoying.
I've searched and found 4 other threads on this, all of which seem to state that you just need to enable the "split counter" option - which I have never seen since leaving the stock ROM.
Is there a fix for this? (I'd prefer to use the stock messaging app)
Thanks
edit.. its funny that xda tells me welcome new member! Looong time reader, I just don't post much (not many questions that can't be answered by searching). Been modding since the early WinMo days! HTC Excalibur FTW!

There's plenty of stock but modded MMS APK in the Nexus Themes and Apps section of these forums with 160 char split. Peruse a few pages or use the search function and you should be able to find one.
