Has anyone ever managed to get AT&T Visual Voicemail to show in the stock dialer app? I'm aware of AT&T's crappy VVM app, but I was really hoping someone knew of a flag, adb command, patch, hack, whatever to get in to show in the dialer when on AT&T. I had this feature on iPhone and Windows Phone in the past and it seems strange that AT&T and Google can't seem to play nice on this. The last thread I found on this topic was several months ago and just directed the poster to use the separate app, I'm hoping to avoid that.

I hope these don't come off too n00b-ish, I'm not new to Android nor to rooting phones. I had an Evo and was on Sprint when I realized that...hey, Sprint's service sucks, so I came back to Ma Bell since they finally got an Android device worth buying (no offense to others, but the Aria is way too small)
Anyway, my first question is do any of these ROMs up right now have sideloading capabilities yet?
Second, coming off of the Evo I had Sense 1.0 and it automatically linked my contact card to my Facebook through Facebook for Sense, but Sense 2.0 doesn't do that, is there a way to link my picture/contact card to Facebook?
Third, speaking of which, anyone else have problems with the Facebook App? It doesn't show my picture on my profile and half of the time doesn't load a lot of user pictures.
And last, HTC released Swype for the Evo, is there any plans of the I4G/DHD getting the keyboard too? I mainly use Better Keyboard but liked having Swype at times.
No one can answer these?
To my knowledge, every Rom here has sideloading enabled.
I only ran Sense for a few hours so I can't answer that. Sorry lol.
Facebook works fine for me.
Once you have sideloading enabled, search Google for the swype beta and install it. Bam.

You people and your damn AOSP. lol. Thanks for response, not sure what is wrong with my Facebook, it did come pre-installed, once I get rooted I may just need to reinstall it from the marketplace and it should work.
The facebook app that came preinstalled on my I4G wouldn't show my or some other pics either so I gotta say that it has to do with something that the stock rom had. I'm on CM7 right now but I remember that I was able to automatically see my pic anywhere that the stock sense apps had an entry for the owner's pic, like the messages app, contacts, etc.
Curious if anyone else is experiencing the pain I am. I cannot use VVM at all on my Skyrocket EXCEPT if I'm running the "unnamed" ROM 1.1.2.
Which I cannot use because of a Google Contacts syncing issue. Let me break it down:
VVM issue: used pretty much all ROMS including stock. Unable to use att vvm, google voice, youmail, etc. However, using unnamed 1.1.2, VVM from att works, but google contacts sync incorrectly. I would have made these separate issues in dev, but I just started posting.
Good news, AT&T is replacing my phone (their tech support was actually competent), but I'm curious if anyone else has experienced these issues.
You don't have to trust me on this, but please do I did plenty of research this week on workarounds and nothing work. I hate asking for help dammit!
Hello xda-guys, devs, user and everyone else.
Since I got an Android phone, i startet to love it and still up today I can't imagine to have another mobile OS. When I swapped a few years ago to a MVNO, the pain begun:
When using your Android phone with a MVNO, it is saying that you are roaming. So you have to activate "data usage while roaming", get a lot of annoying warnings and if you live near a border, you can look forward to a very high phone bill.
This issue is only on Android, no Windows phone, no iOS, not even and unbelievable old Nokia does have this problems!
The problem is (well?) known at google since 2009 (!!!) and all over the world, but google is ignoring it:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3499
Unfortunately, most people around the world don't even know that this is a problem! Even the manuals from the MVNO's are saying that you just have to activate data usage while roaming, altough they know that this can rise your bill when you live near a boarder... (Or do they want exactley that?!)
I love my Android, but without any hacks or rooting to solve this problem, it is useless!
I don't want anymore to be forced to root my phones and search for a hack, patch or anything else when there is a new version.
Only Samsung implementet it in their firmware which solves this problem. But it can't be that I need to use only Samsung phones in the future?
With upcoming root "problems" of Lollipop and also ART it is getting more difficult to find solutions for that problem.
Maybe here on XDA, there are more people haveing the same annoying problem and are maybe also as fed up as I am about that problem.
So there is my question, what can we all together do, that this problem will be solved once and forever directly by google?!
I can't imagine that this is taking more time then two days of coding by one person sitting on the right place...
Sorry for my bad english and I hope that there are many other people like me sitting there and are also as fed up as I am about that problem. If i start to think about it, I would like to throw my phone away and start useing my brick old Nokias again.... I just can't understand why this problem isn't fixed since years...
PS: If I posted this in the wrong section, I'm sorry. Please move it then to the right section.
Seems that the national roaming issue isn't annoying anyone other?
This is definitely annoying me. My Xperia T had support for my MVNO built in, but my Huawei didn't until the last update (EMUI 3 beta). Xposed framework stopped working after an update, so I couldn't use the National Roaming plugin anymore. I was forced to enable roaming and download an app called network status notification. That way I could at least see if I was using 2g or 3g.
I have no idea how we can ask Google to do something about it, but if someone here on XDA can fix it, why can't Google fix it?
PS: EU roaming option would come in handy too

i use the app from this site
https://blog.sprinternet.at/2013/12/android-roaming-statusicon-entfernen-inlands-roaming-mvno/
it works great for me!
it is open source but i donĀ“t know how build apps... if somebody knows how to do the app is more then 1 year old but it works on lollipop and kitkat!
you only need root! no xposed!
direct link to the .apk
http://www.sprinternet.at/uu_wiki/MVNOroaming.apk
Thank you for this tip! I've searched a lot and found only script based solutions or the way via the xposed framework -which I actually do not need!
I'll try this in the evening.
But unfortunately, there is still no solution from google or without root...
That Google ignores it is unbelievable, but due the fact that I have root tyrol made my day with this tipp
It's been a while since I rooted an Android device. And I've never rooted a phone. So, questions. I'd like to do everything possible to have the phone ready before contacting Verizon to get on their network. I'm guessing my steps should be:
a) root
b) TWRP
c) Magisk
d) latest Oxygen
e) all Play Store updates
f) move SIM (there are two slots?? which one??)
g) work w/Verizon to get voice & messaging working
h) use OP's app to migrate apps & data from Pixel2XL
i) figure out a VOWIFI and 3g calling option
I've found the great thread on steps a) - d) and assume all will be straightforward and easy. All of the Google Play Store updates will be easy, I've done all of that already just to test a favorite game (a primary reason I wanted to upgrade the phone to begin with).
I understand there are two SIM slots. Does it matter which I put the SIM in from my P2XL? Am I better off going to the Verizon store and having them put a new SIM in? If I remove the SIM from the P2XL can it still perform emergency calls?
Working with Verizon seems the trickiest part. I know I want to make certain it's activated for CDMA-less (found a great thread here on this, too). Are there any other things I need to request or make sure I test before assuming I'm good to go with Verizon? I won't have any issues because the phone is rooted, will I?
Is the right time to use the OnePlus app to migrate apps and data after successful Verizon activation? I'm not opposed to installing all (there are a LOT) of my apps one by one if it's going to work better and/or has some benefit.
I understand voice won't work over 3g (when LTE's not avialable). Is that correct? And I'm thinking this is related to VOWIFI? I'm sorry if I'm conflating two issues. But a workaround, at least for the latter, has been mentioned here that uses Google Hangouts and some Google app that acts like a phone, but it requires a number? Can someone shine some more light on this for me?
Otherwise, this is my current impression of what needs to be done. Please let me know if you agree, disagree, have suggestions, etc.! Thank you!
... anyone?
Based on your first sentence, you should really, really do some research before attempting any modifications at all.

Are you saying that the guides here aren't adequate? I've had great success with Android tablets in the past following what's here. Perhaps you could be a bit less vague?
I tried doing a search and couldn't find a relevant thread, but I have a few questions...
OK first, the issue that brings me here is the only web browser that I like (Boat) has long been dead and out of development, it's long not been on the play store but I've had the APK for a long time and just transfered it to every new phone I got so I could keep using it. I have tried finding a different browser, but I hate them all, none of them have any of the features I want. My last phone was running Android 9.0 and Boat was still working on it. Well, I got a new phone now (Pixel 4a 5g) that has Android 11 and boat still mostly works... except it crashes if I click the bar at the top to type in a URL and a few other bugs... but otherwise still works flawlessly.
1. So, I'm wondering first is it even OK for someone to look to hire a developer to basically update a dead app? Any website and contact information for the original developer no longer exists, but I don't know if it's OK for someone to take over a dead app like that, if it would be considered stealing or something.
2. Second, well if it's OK... I have the last APKs of the browser and I had used a guide to deconstruct the APK into a project thinking maybe I can figure it out and how to update it so that it still works but... yeah that's not happening. So I have the APK files and the already deconstructed into a project and was wondering where I can ask about hiring a developer just to basically update the app so that it still works (bug fixes only, not really making any changes to the look/feel/etc, just fix any bugs or code that's old and deprecated and doesn't work anymore)? And when I say hire, I mean like actually hire, with real money.

First topic is about licence agreement and legal stuff. It is owned by "Boatmob, Inc." / "Digital Life International Limited" / "Crunchbase Inc.". Although the app was for free, it does not seem to be a free licences. But I am not an expert in this area.
About the browser app itself, I have seen that you were already active here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/boat-browser.3821682/
You either need a permission of the owning company and then maintain the app yourself (or via a hired dev), or you have to switch to another and still actively supported browser app.
