I ran superuser and it told me to update the su binary, i did and when it was done the auto update failed, it put it on my sd card and told me to flash it on cwm, i did but it also failed, any suggestions? has anyone else had this problem?
Go to androidsu.com. I think that's the site it may be .org.

okay i did that, but it said fix error and it recomended that i download update.zip and flash it, thats the same thing the other app told me to do and it still didnt work
the download from the app is bad. download the correct from that website and flash it and youll be okay. the same thing happened to me and the correct zip fixed it. thats the website for the guy who created superuser app.
that worked! thanks! XD
how do you flash it if the superuser isn't working? I couldn't do it in stock recovery. and is that file su-2.3.6.3-efgh to download off the website?
If the device is rooted you can push it up with adb.

I have the Samsung Exhibit 4G which I successfully rooted with the one click Zerg rush method.
There was an update on the Superuser which I went ahead and updated. Now it notify me that my su binary is outdated. When I go to update it, I got up to "checking md5sum...fail" So how could I fix this? I tried flashing it from sd card with no success. How do I get this SU binary updated?
I tried manually install from recovery but I get "signature verification failed".
Thanks.
Any one could help or ran into this problem and can shed some light on the issue?
Thanks.
I made a thread on the general section of how you can flash the binary through cwm and you won't get outdated binary anymore
Heres tthe link

There's also an su updater fixer available in the android market. It has mixed reviews tho.

Would this work for my Exhibit 4G, SGH-T759?
Thanks.
try installing busybox I had that problem also and installing busybox fixed the problem.
Different versions of busybox will/can cause problems also.

solved
There is an easier way. Open titanium backup and see the version of busybox shown there. Download the same version with a busybox downloader. Then try to update the su binary. It worked for me on my samsung galaxy 3
Go to this site and download the 3.0.3.2.-efghi-signed.zip
http://androidsu.com/superuser/
When you flash it you will have the updated su binary.

First, make sure you have flashed the latest cwm0302);
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1112804
then go into cwm and run "permission fix", reboot phone.
If that didn't fix your issue, then download superuser pack and follow instruction:
http://www.toms-world.org/android/page/rootinstructions
Good luck.
Same thing happened to me. Flashed 1.4 and lost root... Fixing permissions did not help. Is Odin my only way to get root back?

EDIT: make sure you mount /system before flashing. Also did you Odin the latest cwm and use this to fix permission??
http://www.toms-world.org/android/page/rootinstructions
Bingo... I forgot to mount system before flashing superuser
Thanks

When Trying to install Superuser using this method (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526)
It gives me an error (status 0) and aborts installation
I am running Stock ICS 4.0.4 (the thread says rooting for 2.3.5 2.3.6 But i was told 4.0.4 should work too)
Any help is great thanks!
Edit : Never mind apperently just trying over and over got it to work :s Says it installed successfully, sorry about the post!
Download the SU files again. Sounds pike a bad download. Also if the zip is for GB it won't flash on ICS because the SU apk is not compatible.

he's new but he knows his stuff, almost certainly a corrupt zip. If not, go into mounts and storage and make sure system partition is mounted

I had the same issue when trying to root. Download new Superuser file and new su binary file. You may have to flash each multiple times before they catch. I flashed both twice before they succeeded. Flash the Superuser first and then the su binary. Hope this helps.
Note: I did this for stock 2.3.6 but the process should be the same
It took 3 times to root the original leak

Hi all,
I Know my Thunderbolt is rooted correctly because I am able to use certian rooted only apps. But when I go into superuser to update binaries it tells me that
1. It cannot gain root access
2. It says the new binaries are bad
3. Overall fail.
There was a similar post on rootzwiki about this, and in that post was a su.zip file that i manually placed in the /system/bin which i overwrote the existing. Still giving me the bad binaries error etc... is there something I am doing wrong? or a new fix avail??
Thanks
PS...also while I'm here i posted this on rootzwiki also but no avail...somewhat on the same lines as what i posted above but with more info about the bootloader.
Thanks
I just picked up a preowned thunderbolt....
currently :
Android Version - 2.3.4
HTC Sense Verison - 2.1
Software Number - 2.11.605.9
.
HBOOT - 6.04.1002
Radio - 1.4.8.00.0.930.w_3
just wondering if this is the most current, and root-able\ s-off friendly software for the thunderbolt. It was already rooted and revolutionary.io hence the bootloader saying so. But for some reason no matter what, I cannot perform a full TB Restore, and cannot successfully update SU binaries ( tried the suFixer on the market..and tried manually putting the file in /system/bin/su . It either says cannot gain root access or insuffiant privileges errors. I can't for the life of me figure wtf is going on. I've never had such difficulty/[problems rooting and customizing any other HTC ( or android phone) before. can anyone help
Run the all in one tool again
Don't update binarys there's issues with the newest update. And reflash your custom recovery. Then flash one of the alrdy rooted stock roms or custom Rom .

I start by flashing cwm via Rom manager premium. Then always flash the alternative amon recovery becUse I like it.better. is that the way to.go?
When re running the tool should I do the unroot then reroot? Is.there anything that will help me being able to use rooted apps run correctly hence the binary issue? Is this being worked on at all?
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt. Using Tapatalk 2 premium.
I wouldn't flash anything through rom manager. That's just my opinion. Maybe unroot and then root again using the all in one tool might work.

Go here and scroll down to update 2. There is a link to download a fixed binary that can be flashed in recovery.

Download SuperSu and flash in cwm. It replaces su. And fixes the exact issue you are having
I really like supersu more than superuser. If I flash this in recovery will it replace superuser?
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
Yes it will. Then when you reboot. Open supersu and allow it to update its binaries
Nice I'm going to try it.

So I had root working with SU. I updated to the latest SU using flashfire. It flashed and rebooted the phone, now I'm bricked.
I get "security error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software and is locked"
I can't get into Recovery or download.
I'm assuming I'm f*cked?
You weren't supposed to update SuperSu it was specifically stated in the original tutorials that updating would cause issues...
Also explain how you aren't able to access the recovery or download mode...
Is the screen black?
Does your computer recognize it when it's plugged in?
All you had to do was extract the newest supersu.apk from the new chainfire release and install via app installer. Hope you got it by now.
Yeah, I got it now.
FYI - extracting the superu.apk doesn't update it. You have to re-run the root.bat that comes with the .zip.
Also, I had to re-flash the stock firmware.
That was scary.
Thanks,
Glad you got it but what I meant was to extract the APK from the zip file transfer it to your phone and then install the APK file regular. either way I'm glad you got it fixed
