Just curious if anyone else here experienced this...I plug my charger in (AC or through my computer) and what shows up it's charging, isn't it's actual total.
IE, it shows it's charging and it's at 85%...but if you unplug it, it'll show up it's really a different level, sometimes less, sometimes more. Heck, one night it sat on "charging 37%" for 8 hours while I slept and was still like that when I woke up...but when I unplugged it, it was really fully charged.
TMO is sending me out a replacement device, so I'm really not worried about it. Just curious if anyone else had this happen to them?

If you use the DS driver version of faux's kernal, it's well documented that the battery readings will be wonky...but your phone should run cooler. The CM driver version has more accurate readings, but is reported to run hotter.
edit: Waiting for next post: "Which one is better?"
Nope, it won't be "which one is better"...it'll be...how do I know which of those I'm running?
Also, that's just what I'm currently running. I've flashed nightly files, EB, etc...all with the same.
As I said, TMO has shipped me out a new device, so I'm not worried about it. Just curious if anyone else had this problem (which you say it is wonky with certain driver).

This is probably the wierdest thing I have seen with any phone I have ever had. I'm at work with Inspire sitting in my holster. When I tried to go use it, it will not turn on. Nothing I do will turn it on. Unpluggin the battery, plug it into the charger. I have a spare battery at home which I will try, but I feel it just straight up died. Last time checked battery was > 50%.
I wonder if undervolting the CPU can damage the phone. I have been running UV for a while and it's not overclocked at all.
I can't even revert it to stock before I return it.
Well, if it won't turn on, I wouldn't worry about reverting to stock. The morons at the AT&T store will not be able to tell it's been rooted. As far as UV damaging the phone, it's not something I've heard of, but I'd imagine it's possible.
I highly doubt undervolting will cause damage. Overvolting yes, electricity starts to "leak" past transistor and damage gets done. Too much uv would cause erratic behavior and prevent startup. But not in a damaging way.

Well, the car charger didn't charge it but the wall charger was able to charge it. Apparently something caused the phone to discharge from like 50% to nada. Very interesting. I don't think it's my ROM or Kernel, and I haven't installed anything in like couple of weeks.
My phone has been dying quickly for the last 2 or 3 days... The phone is maybe 3 months old and I'm not a heavy user. The battery went from full to about 20% in 6 hours on standby today.
Only thing I see differently is that I got a message that a new update is available but I don't see how that would matter. Can someone point me to a link for updating the phone? I'm currently rooted.

If you are rooted try doing a FULL WIPE with the wipe tool, Full Wipe 1.3 and reload a fresh rom that you know is reliable (I am using Leedroid GB) and do not load any apps until you try the phone out for a little while. Load first current widget and monitor how many milliamps you are drawing. Then slowly add apps one by one and whatch what is eating your battery. It sounds like a bad app or stuck sync....
Sorry, meant to quote Mr. Gordec.......
discuss. as far as i can tell its related to the battery driver and only occurs while charging on AC. have not experienced it on USB charging off pc/other. baseband update failed to correct the issue. change of cm7 nightlys does not solve the issue. changing kernals "faux made it sod and overheat like hell" trinity is untested. alternate roms are so far untested "most are based off cm7 anyhow so i dont see trial and error for other roms being worthwhile. some claim keep awake while charging solves the issue since the phone will not sleep during charge. believe cm7 has this removed unfortunately.

i had a similar issue as well with the phone would just shut off. making the assumption its related to the 15% shut off bugg since when i turned it on "not a sod" it showed not 100% battery despite it was on the charger. this only happend if it was left on charger for a long time. random reboots in cm7 nightlys was solved a while ago opposed to SOD/random shut offs. that or the baseband update solved it

The baseband has nothing to do with reboots or SOD's.

I have 2 G2x, both afflicted with "get hot near camera with SOD with significant battery drain" issue. Rebooting once a day fixed it for both phones. Our SODs would happen randomly - always with screen off, usually NOT on the charger. I charge on USB, she charges on A/C adapter. My wife doesn't always reboot, so I installed setCpu to limit screen off cpu usage, and also installed watchdog lite. So far watchdog lite has had only one hit - from "Linux Process' using 51% cpu - but no SOD.
The only reason I am on this forum is due to SOD - my wife is on-call, and NEEDS a phone, not a brick. the G2x ROCKS, except when it is a brick - then it SUCKS!
My goal is to either
A) find the SOD problem
B) have the SOD problem GO AWAY.
I am interested in any input or organized testing to fix this problem.
SOD? Sleep of death? Sorry, been away from xda for a bit.
My current issue (with 2 phones, and the replacement unit has this after 3 days.) is sometimes that it refuses to charge until I do a battery pull. Once my first g2x (the second i've owned. 3 total) got so low it wouldn't boot or charge and no battery pull would work for a couple days. Got a new one mailed to me, same problem.
I'm really considering demanding an upgrade, maybe to Sensation. Sorry if off topic, but don't want to go posting duplicate topics.

So I read that a ton of ppl has issues hitting 100% battery charge, I'm also seem to be having the issue till I got and played Plants vs Zombies...after like 1 hour playing I was about to turn on the alarm and hit the bed and I just noticed my battery level, 100%....so I thought that it was an error and I locked the phone just to see on the lock screen "charged"....btw, when I started playing the battery was at around 92% and I've never seen 100% before on my NS.
How many ppl is able to get their phones to fully charge to 100%? and, does any of u installed or did anything in particular to fix the issue?
Hm, only had mine 2 weeks and have yet to get a 100. My epic would but it was a faux 100 if anything as it. Would drop down to around 98-96 immediately.

Only way to hit 100% is to use an external battery charger.

you can use that if u really want too get too 100% i used for a few weeks then just stopped caring. Its just the way samsung programmed it to pro long the overall life of the battery.
Yeah, mine caps at 95% normally. Might have a look at that program. How much shorter would battery life be if we let it charge to 100%?
If you leave the screen on (by any means, whether you were playing game, which requires you to have the screen on, or change the setting to have screen always on), it will charge to 100%.
will the battery life shorter with this trick or using that app to force to charging completely ?
Its not an issue. Samsung designed it that way. Its to help keep the battery healthy and extend its life.

I honestly don't see it being noticeably shorter life span. We keep phones for a max of 2 years now days. I rather have a full battery now then it last an extra few months. Battery's are cheap so we dont need them to last forever .
Well, I have used the phone while connected to the charger but never passed 96%, only after playing PvsZ I got the 100% and then the number went down till 96% and stayed that way after I closed the game.

I am on PunkRom and I usually don't charge my Triumph until its almost dead. So I am around 20% on my phone and when it gets around 15% It dies, well shuts off on me. And I'm like, well, is it because this Rom is programmed to be this way or is it a tweakable bug that it's having? Or maybe something I forgot to read. Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks.
And all Props to the person who made the Rom I like it most of all.

What you want to do is charge the phone full by charging it while on tto 100%, then unplug it, turn it off, and plug it in until the red light turns green. Boot into cwm recovery, and go into the advanced folder. Wipe battery stats. This should fix your problem.
Sent from my Triumph using Tapatalk
Weird enough. I can vouch for Punk ROM not being the source of that issue, it could be a b_randon14 tweak... but even I wouldn't be able to say what Or where as even it seems relatively stable.
....that much said, do what the person above said. Wiping your battery stats on a regular basis is unwise, but in a situation like this it makes the most sense.
Also, for a generally longer battery life, charge once you reach fifty percent or lower.

Just an observation, but the graph at the top under where it says 1 day 19 hours clearly shows your battery going up 3 times. Which I was just going to pass up but I have a bunch of shots of my battery stats and none of them go up.

So if I'm not mistaken you plugged in a couple times.
I seen that as well but I honestly have no idea why. I can assure you it has not been plugged in. I even have a prior screen shot on another battery run that has the same issue.

Battery Management
Hi, all.
I want to pass this tip along to anyone who want or need to conserve their battery for what ever reasons.
I have gone usually 3 day+ on one charge.
I'm running on stock rom. Froyo 2.2.1
It is rooted though
I use the phone moderately. Text occasionally.
I downloaded an app called "DataSwitch" by TomatoX.
I use wifi when I'm at home or work.
I have dataswitch activated when I don't need constant background data. ?I turn it on when I need to use it for surfing and such.
In Settings, there is also a toggle for background on/off, although I don't use this much.
With the data off, you can still get phone call and text msg.
I usually turn off data and wifi at bedtime.
On the third day, I'm usually down to 35%.
This may also be useful if you are low and can't get to a charge right away.
It may not apply to everybody, but it works for me..esp with only a 200mb data plan. Battery life is great!
lol look at that cell standby use your phone lol

Good one. But next time on, it would be more useful if you post the screenshots showing call duration and display time. With just this one screenshot it could have display on for just 5 mins or 50 mins. Its hard to tell.
Just now noticed, the tiny green bars in the screenshot (circled in red) come up when the phone is charging.
I noticed that (at least for my phone) if you connect it to wall charging it would reset the "time on battery" count but if i connected it via usb to pc it was charging, yeah slowly maybe but the timer never reset when connected via usb as if the phone said "well im charging but it doesnt counts since the guy its transfering data"(lmao yeah my phone is smart) so if you wait for 10% battery ans then go usb mode and charge it and use it and repeat i once got displaying 4 days 10 hours on battery haha.
While on my real stats my phone never last more than 18 hours ;/

I got my phone to say 2 days 15 hours once. As long as I don't charge it 100% the time on my battery continues to go up. I can plug it in while it has 10% left charge it till its 90% unplug it, and the time won't reset.
If anyone mistook my comment, I'm not really interested in claiming any specific record as the op as stated.
I simply meant to share my thoughts on "dataswitch" app and how I had applied it.
I think found it useful to limit data usage and to conserve the battery when I can't get a charge right away.
You'll be surprise how much battery life background data consumes.
The other part tech part of me also recognizes that battery memory exist...it may be best to "widen" your charge range (0% to 100%) when possible.
Well, I figured out what caused that.. My radio in my truck has a USB port that I plug my phone into to listen to my music. Worked great on my Ipod but it wouldn't charge my Ipod. However today when coming home, I plugged my phone in and it doesnt show to be charging, but when I looked at the Battery Use chart, it deffinately showed an increase.
And here I was thinking I was getting impecable battery life lol.
Oh well.. Sorry for the fuss. However, I will keep trying
