Has anyone tried one of these yet ? I have seen 1900mah ones on ebay but wonder if they really give you anything more over the stock battery.
Becareful they might be dangerous for your phone
I have seen someone complaning about over voltage. 1900mAh seems like a good option but it should be reliable as well.
I wouldn't trust a phone battery on eBay to do anything besides fry my phone.

Now now, let's be fair, it should at LEAST be able to fry your phone AND blow up in your pocket doing considerable bodily harm too.
1900 ECELL MAH Battery
got just about 16 hours hours from an Ecell 1900mah battery, I had screen brightness on more or less full capacity and Wifi enabled for around approximately 4 and a half hours before I disabled wifi and reduced screen brightness down to just above a quarter. Used the phone for browsing, 10-12 minute phone call, 25 mins of game play throughout the day which included samurai vengeance THD (ten minutes), N64oid emulator (FZERO and MarioKart) and and one full game of real football in 3D. Sent out a couple of texts and downloaded three apps.

Would you have got this out of the standard battery do you think.
A shame there aint a big extended battery like 3000-4000mah.

I've found that the 1900 battery gives you roughly around four and half extra hours than the 1500 battery. Reducing display brightness to just over a quarter and having wifi disabled along with moderate use of the phone will easily get you through the day with the 1900 battery. Have not seen any adverse effects from using the battery such as overheating either.
where we can find 1900 battery for O3D ?
optimus 3d use some battery as optimus 2x ?
You can find the battery here:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250854034507
but it looks a bit dodge.
Here you can find one with 1600mAh that looks less dodge:

Has anyone used any Apps that claim to report battery capacity?
I have Battery Monitor Widget which claims the battery is only holding 1200mAh when on the battery it claims it should be 1500mAh.
I am dubious about its accuracy though as it doesn't seem able to report how much the battery is currently draining, although that should be more hardware specific than reading the battery capacity I would think?
It is kinda odd though as the first 15% seems to drain really fast and then it gets slower. I have literally seen it go from 100% to 96% in a few minutes doing nothing particularly taxing. Yet it can easily run for many hours web browsing with screen brightness on auto.
what is the widget called as mine drains very fast i have lost 16% in 2HRS 33. which is crazy.
Could using different launchers have a effect i wonder, this is a great phone but this sort of battery drain is plain crazy.
Edit . just found the one you mention and it says mine is a 1200 also , would be interesting to see if its accurate on a different phone.
It just seems odd that I can have it fully charged, go to bed with airplane mode on and its still down to 85% when I wake up despite nothing obvious using any CPU power. The big battery drain is always Android System, in fact I think that is ALWAYS the case even if I sit with the screen on which I always got the impression the screen was meant to be the biggest power drain on phones?
If I go to bed without airplane mode on its pretty much identical, which doesn't seem right at all considering it would be connected to WiFi and HSDPA (data mode off).
That said in ACTUAL use it seemed to last me a days use quite well. I'm just a bit puzzled that the widget claims the battery is not what its supposed to be and that the phone is showing as losing the first 20% really fast.
Don't get me wrong, the overall battery life to 0 seems not too bad, I am just concerned that perhaps there is something I can do to improve it further.

This external charger is good. I am using one. I use it for charging PSP as well.
It can charge 2 phones at same time. I tried the following combinations:
htc desire + aria, sgs + aria, 2x sgs, sgs+o3d..
one of the port is 1A, so it just feels like charging the phone off a normal charger. One this thou, this thing is heavy light a phone
if you are having short battery life check in the applications menu to see what apps are still running cuz i discovered the hard way that sometimes when you exit a 3d game the game doesnt actually quit and just sits in the background eating up 65% of your battery life. nova seems to be bad for it.

Hey All,
Today I decided to look into a larger capacity battery for my DZ NAM, and I took a look at my old Touch Pro 2...
The Battery fits quite well, its 1500mAh as opposed to the 1300 with the DZ.
I had to trim out the plastic on the TP2 battery, and then place it in upside down.
The cover pops up slightly after the battery is in, nothing that would bother you lots, in other words its not as flush as the original DZ battery.
I am going to use it to swap out between my 2 batteries.
Hope this helps, not bad for a free battery in my case
Great news !!
I have also a BA-S390 from my old Touch Pro 2... I'll try this tonight !
When you charge the battery inside the phone is it getting hotter or colder than the original DZ battery ?
I just got 2.5 days out of my stock Z battery and still had 60% left (granted didn't use it much).
I left my charger at work, and had a snow day yesterday.
I don't know what all the fuss about battery life is about.

Len,
To get 2.5 days out of a smartphone you must firstly not be overclocking at all, and secondly you must not have used it one bit.
2.5 days = total non usage
Even the iphone4 with its powersaving a4 chip does not get 2.5 days, unless you dont touch the beast.
And i like to generally use my phone

Actually I am overclocked to 1.4ghz and underclocked for screen off.
You are right, I hardly touched the phone at all, I did need it as an alarm twice in the time I was without a charger. (I was forced into this situation by leaving my charger at work)
But it shows that with no use the phone only loses 1% a day.
I generally lose about 2-4 percent an hour not in use. But my phone is sync'ed up to everything, lol

Who said anything about fuss?
I was pointing out that the TP2 battery works, and is larger capacity... I have a ton of reasons to have a second battery and would rather not spend an extra $40.
I travel lots... and I use my phone to watch tv on the plan.
Not sure about how hot the battery gets on charge, haven't used it much yet.
As for the original I get 2 days with moderate use.

Just that there have been lots of complaints about battery life on this phone (and the desire HD)...those people obviously never had a Desire as the battery life on the Z and HD are loads better than the desire ever was.
agreed, I find the stock battery tollerable on my DZ
@Blesseld: i also have a tp2 battery lying around, so if you happen to charge it, i would be really thankful for any reports about the charging behavior...

I'll do a little test tonight/tomorrow and report back.
Cheers
I have descended from tp2pro aswell, and must admit that I have used my old tp2 battery from the second day I had a DZ. I must admit I have 'trimmed' it so that it doesn't cause any bulge on the metal flap covering the batt compartment, and I can say that even though the old batt is 6 months old it performs well enough to get me through the whole working day. I do make a lot of calls a day, I keep I-net connection constantly on, and I never switch Bluetooth off....
I realize its a heavy load on the battery but afterall I got the fone to do its job (calls, emails, driving, gps, etc).
The battery lasts well into from 8am to 7pm (with my heavy usage) but must say that whenever I'm driving I will have fone charging, regardless of its power level.
Nevertheless, I have a spare battery at hand ( original DZ one) should the worst happen.
FYI, my daily batt stats is usually as follows: display 30percent, voice calls 35 percent, and remaining 35 percent spread somewhat evenly amongst remaining series that have to run in the background.
Unfortunately though, I haven't got enough experience with the original DZ battery, to give you a comparison.... remember I used it only for a day or two, when I was still getting used to the whole new world of android and DZ
sent from htc desire Z
Does anyone have experience with the 1800mAh Mugen battery from the TP2 in the DZ? I'm tempted to go for that assuming it fits...?
Hello everyone, confirmed the HTC EVO 3D battery works in the Sensation, the shell is exactly the same with writing on opposite sides. I also included the approximate difference in the batteries using BatteryTime Pro. Hope this helps someone with an alternate battery decision.

No, It doesn't affect the phone at all...correct me if I'm wrong, the Nominal Voltage is 3.6v for the standard battery which charges at 4.2 volts. The operating voltage is 4.2v (fully charged) and 2.8v (discharged) That being said, your .1v makes no difference to the phone!
Does anyone have a good source to get these cheap?

I needed something on my screen that shows the percentage of battery remaining, I used it with my Nexus One, it works quite well with the Sensation too. With the Sensation you have to put in the battery mAh when changing batteries. How accurate is it? If you look at the screen shot above with the standard battery it show's 8:35 hours of talk time, if you look at the specs of the HTC Sensation at the HTC site, it show's up to 500 minutes which is 8.33 hours. I looked up the talk time on the EVO 3D and it st states 560 minutes or 9.33 hours, considering the Sensation might be a little more efficient, 9:46 hours might be spot on!

Netflix will do the trick. I used it last night to drain my Anker battery. It was at like 35% & took 45 minutes of streaming over data to kill it. Great way to get that first discharge out before you finally charge it up to 100%

I'm going to be devil's advocate for a minute. There's no way to tell the capacity of a battery by taking a snapshot of its current state. If you are telling the app what the mAh is and the battery is charged to 100% then it's making a calculation based on what you told it. It's not actually measuring the true capacity. The only way to determine the capacity of a battery is to fully charge it, then fully discharge it through a load and measure the current. There are no shortcuts, or apps that can do this instantaneously.
As indicated in several other threads the mAh stamped on 3rd party batteries are very unreliable. If you buy a real HTC EVO 3D battery then I'll say it's probable that the mAh is close to the rating, and your test would indicate you may well get more run time on the Sensation. If you buy some other battery then YMMV.
It is good to know that EVO 3D batteries will fit though. Thanks.

You know, I was just thinking abut that same thing. I was under the impression that you had to put in the estimations yourself. I wanted to use it, but I did not know how reliable my guesstimations were.
I use Juice Plotter. It does not do the breakdowns like the app in the picture, but it does a good job giving you a guesstimation. Once you charge it and unplug it it will tell you how much battery it perceives you have left. I primarily use it for the battery drain graph. That is the most accurate thing about it.
Nevermind. Please delete.

Well said. That's why I didn't mind plunking down a bit more cash for the EVO 3D battery.
Before I start, I'm actually fairly happy with the battery life on the sensation. Today it's been off the charger for about 4 hours and I'm still at 97% with little use and some light browsing. So for general such as idle and browsing, it isn't bad.
I have noticed, however, that the battery life sucks when doing intensive things, such as gaming. I lose easily over 30% an hour when watching videos or playing games. The other day I was sitting through a boring meeting, so I played a tower defense game I had. I had about 60% battery life when I started and my phone died in about an hour and a half. My screen brightness was a bit higher than it should have been, but it wasn't full.
I understand it will drain a ton with heavy use, but 60% in less than 2 hours is insane. I took a 25 minute car drive with navigation and my battery dropped over 20%. That's just crazy.
Has anybody else experienced this? What percent/hour do you lose when gaming? It basically means I can't do much gaming or I'm at risk of my phone dying before the day is done.
Bro, what u think gone happen gaming for an hr, with its big screen on that long? Nothing u said I find abnormal from my experience with this phone, are my last 4 phones. Heavy use = drain
Yeah, I realize that it's gonna drain a lot with gaming. At the same time, I don't think 40% an hour is something to be expected. I'm hoping it was just a weird battery cycle.
yeah, i played plants vs zombies and the battery died real fast. However cut the rope doesnt drain the battery that bad. Depends on game but most phones have poor battery life when you do intense stuff.
the nintendo 3ds has a much bigger battery and also has a poor battery life. Battery technology is crap.
...batteries drain faster under heavier loads bro.

Haha, joke all you want, but coming from the G2X I couldn't kill 60% of the battery in 1.5 hours if I tried.
Go ahead and defend the device all you want, but something about this device destroys the battery more than normal when the screen is burning and the processors are burning.
I agree. This phone has much better standby and general battery life compared to my vibrant, but I have noticed that the gps really burns through battery, moreso than the vibrant.

I actually am really liking the battery life on my sensation, just was in a joking mood. Coming from the EVO 4g i get twice as long with my S4G. Think about it though, you have a 1.2,3,4,5,6,7,or 1.8ghz cpu, depending on Overclock or not, Massive screen resolution, awesome game graphics that take every bit of the CPU/GPU to run them. And it's All running from a tiny ass battery. Look at laptops... If you play a system taxing game for an hour your battery will be toast, and that battery is a lot bigger. I think for what it is, It does a good job.

Battery performance - all of the batteries have around the same performance. the ones with the charger have slightly less battery life but it is still better than the stock 1230mah. i can now easily go a full day of browsing the web and playing games without recharging. although, i dont like my batteries getting too low, cuz i know if they fully discharge it can be bad for them so at 20% i swap the one ive been using for one that ive charged overnight. the way i have it set up, i always will hae a battery fully charged. i have one in the phone and one in the charger overnight. wake up take both and put the other extended in the charger while i am gone. come back and before i go to sleep i swap again. they all get used equally then.
One problem that i have seen though, is that sometimes when i reboot or swap them out, when the phone starts up, it says there is 0% battery left. it is usually fixable by a quick wipe of the battery stats in recovery. has only happened to me in aosp roms though, sense runs fine.
overall, id give them a 4/5 rating because of the low cost and quality, but also because of that glitch(although it could just be software related)
pics up soon to show exact battery life and the batteries themselves
Okey n1 review. Perhaps i will get one of those batteries hate to charge all the time

I would love to see some stats/screenshots of Battery Monitor Widget just so that we can see what you mean by saying that you are browsing and playing games all day.
When i'm using my phone with the screen on all the time then i've got a drain of 1% per 5 minutes. That gives me a bit more than 8 hours before the phone is dead.
On the other hand the maximum standby time is a bit more than 100 hours (1% per 60 minutes) or more than 4 days.
That said you could have really great battery life if you've got more than 2.5 hours of screen on time in one day or it's terrible because the screen on time is way below 2.5 hours.
That's allways based on the assumption that your battery is depleted after 24 hours. "a full day" could also be a work day meaning unplugged at 6 am and recharching at 6 pm.
/edit:
about that 0% glitch: I'm using an Evo3D Anker 1900mAh battery in my DHD and got the same problem. I also think that it's related to me using an aosp rom.
I actually have this one!!! ordered from dealextreme.com!
its working fine 1230 mah real size! there is no bigger batteris than 1300 mah!

There IS a battery that is more than 1300mAh, the Mugen 1500mAh. Search for it on this forum
There is also the Mugen skin that clips on and holds another 2000?mAh, but that is not entirely practical...

That's why you should stuff an Evo3D/Sensation battery in there
Those have 1500mAh or more (and really do!)

These batteries do hold more juice than the stock. I don't know why people are complaining about them. For $9 you get 2 batteries and a charger. Even if they where only the stock size, you can still swap them.

Problem is, these claims have no substance without numbers. Do you have any test results proving the battery life is greater over stock?

great....clicked the "thanks" button instead of the "quote" button....
anyway:
it doesn't matter if your phone isn't on for some time....just let Battery Monitor Widget run from 100% to 0% and then show us screenshots of the stats it gathered.
Thoughts about how well your batteries performed aren't needed. I bet you i could give you the exact same thoughts you have about your batteries only that the time from 100% to 0% differs by as much as a day....

Here are the stats as of now, I have been texting, listening to music, surfing the web, and surfing through xda all day.
If I would be using the stock battery, it would have been dead already.

Battery Monitor Widget:
It's in german so this is what it says in english:
(in the info bar at the top you can see that i had still got 31% charge)
- has been unplugged for 1 day and 2 hours
- has been used for 5h20m or 20%
- screen was on for 2h31m or 9%
- wifi was on for 2h03m or 7%
- bluetooth was on for 1h32m or 5%
It doesn't say anything about how much the gpu was used (for example there is no reliable way of telling how much the usage of opengl drains your battery...at least as far as i know).
But it still gives you better info about how i used my phone and how much you'd get if you were using the same battery.

I ordered this battery off eBay a few weeks ago from HK.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170700946395?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
I received the battery a little over a week ago. I immediately charged the battery overnight (at least 12 hour charge) and popped it in the morning. Throughout the day I normally; check my email, a few couple minute phone calls, some web browsing, updating apps through the market, maybe a few videos, and streaming music, and texting pretty much all day.
The battery seemed to be doing just as good as stock. Now after a few charge cycles I believe the battery is doing better.
I can easily get a day out of it on average.
Two days I was sick, so I just text a few times throughout the day and played a few games on the phone.. I got 48 hours out of the battery.
I tried killing the battery one day by watching videos, streaming music and playing games for maybe 6 hours and I still had about 25% left.
For only $6 shipped (it takes about 2 weeks to get from HK) I believe it is a good deal. I keep my stock battery charged as a backup, but so far haven't needed it. When I get home from work I normally still have 30 - 40% left and just throw it on the charger and take it off when I wake up.
It sure is nice not to have to worry about bringing a charger everywhere I go.
I am really surprised that the 450mAh increase made that much difference.
The battery also feels a little lighter.. I don't have a scale to weigh it on, but it does feel slightly lighter
Running R3velation ROM, Overclocked to 1.6GHZ - ondemand (voltage control), Undervolted -50v @ 100,200,400, sync is set at once a day I believe, automatic brightness, using WIFI only when needed, and GPS almost never
Overall... very satisfied.
PS.. my wife got her 3500mAh battery for her captivate. She is easily getting 2 days out of her battery.. I wish I could use it on my Infuse, but I use the Otterbox case... so it will not fit..
I got 2 of these for backup for my wifes and my phone. I use mine all the time. A bit better than the stock battery and for the price was very hard to beat.
Great find, thanks!
On the eBay page, the vendor says:
3. When first get the battery, use it out, charge for 10 hours for the first three times, use it out again, then it only need to charge about 5 hours for normal use.

Did you bother with this, or did you just charge it up and pop it in?

I just popped it in my phone and charged it for 10 to 12 hours
I searched a little on google about batteries and didn't find anything like the Ebay seller said to do.
No problems so far. And still getting a day out of the battery.

This battery need extra back cover or use the ordinary stock back cover?
Thanks for sharing. I had one of the double sized batteries with the extra back, but the battery wore out after only 6 months. I might just go for one of these.
I bought this battery after reading this thread. The battery is slightly more heavier. The battery life seems to last longer when the cell phone is in use but when the phone is on standby the battery dies quicker then the oem battery. Weird.

Those of you needing to know whats going on inside your battery, you need to find "Spare Parts" on the Market/Play Store.
There is a very in-depth app inside called simply "Battery Information"
There you will not only find your % of charge, but battery voltage and temperature, battery health and time since last boot.
Li-Ion batteries are tricky as they require no more than 4.2v, anything more can destroy the battery. Also, the cell is made to operate to no less than 3.0v, any less and the cell will "go to sleep", meaning it won't take a charge unless forced to do so.
Just some FYI, I did my homework on Li-Ion technology and figured I'd share a little...
Looking for a hi-capacity battery
I'll have a look at this....
