Changing battery indicator on stock? - T-Mobile LG G2x

Is there anything that I can flash to get a battery indicator in the notification bar that shows the percentage on stock?
I don't want to flash another rom since stock had been stable for me.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App

You might be able to pull the framework-res.apk from the phone and edit it, then push it back. But I haven't seen anything to prove you can. I think stock had an LG version of framework-res as well, not sure which has the battery stuff in it.

I had the Big battery Notifier installed and it showed the percentage in increments of 1%. After having uninstalled it, I find it more bearable to go all day without charging, because when I see the battery draining and dropping 1% within a few minutes, I get anxiety.
Now just seeing the battery icon, and how it displays just color to signify how much approximate charge there is, it feels more comforting just knowing it's more than half full without being very specific about it to make me nervous.
Bottom line, I suggest just leaving the stock battery indicator, or install a real specific one and get battery anxiety.

The Dark Sinister Taskbar available in his thread works great with the stock rom. Its s black taskbar with a blue percentage battery indicator.

Hi, I tried making my own and it is a flashable zip thru cwm.
It is for 2.2.2. Just try it. Make sure you do a nandroid backup in case something wrong happens.
I already tried it with eb1.05, sinister1.2, ultimate1.0 and stock.

Battery Indicator on Notification Bar

Is everyone else's Stock Battery Indicator ridiculous inaccurate? I'm at 42% battery life currently (widget/spare parts) and the stock indicator shows a level around 65-75%.

it's not 'inaccurate' samsung has set it like that. but if you want to tweak it, try search around.

Ah, correction, rather than inaccurate it just rounds up generously.

Yea, that's common. They don't have very many level drops.
If anyone finds an app that can overlay a % (or replace it with a %) on top of the STOCK ICON, that'd be awesome. There's some that add an additional icon but I don't want that, that's just stupid to have two battery icons...
Also if anyone finds an app that can overlay a dBm signal in place of the signal strength meters that'd be awesome, too.

Yes, I was wanting a NEW battery gauge, one that shows the percentage, not the ridiculous stock icon thats off by a mile. Also, I'm with you I dont want two battery icons up there. I guess its harder than I think it should be to create an app that does that.
I'd assume since it's the TouchWiz UI that something specific to the Captivate would have to change the icon... That's my assumption anyway, I'm not a developer.

You guys might want to try System Info Widget in the Market. Pretty good and definitely accurate.
What annoys me is that Samsung has the numerical info in the about screen, so why not just create a toggle so we can go from bar to numeric....
I think they pulled an Apple and wanted the bars to always look bigger.
I installed Battery Widget (the one with over 250K downloads)... Best thing for now...
I noticed the same thing right away... Not sure if they thought users would miss this but its a little misleading..
Battery status widget works for me.

[Q] Strange battery meter behavior after one-click flashes.

Has anyone else noticed the strange behavior of the battery meter after using any of the one click flashes? For example, after I flashed the latest Andromeda kernel my battery indicator drooped from 56% down to 36% after the flash. I rebooted the phone and was still at 36% so I decided to use the one-click stock and root uninstaller flasher just to see what would happen and as soon as it rebooted, I was back to 56% again. Today I flashed the Clockwork Mod recovery and my battery dropped from 88% before the flash to 68% after the flash. So I figured I would flash the one-click stock again even though I was already running stock and that brought my battery meter back up to 89% again.
Anyone else experience this?

1st, I see your new and before your bashed for posting this in Dev, this should be in QA or General. Rule of thumb: If you aren't cracking or writing code - don't post new threads here.
2nd - My battery indicator acts the opposite - I am at 50% battery right now (according to my widget) but the indicator shows around 90%.

Thanks for the advice. I couldn't find a Q/A section for the Epic and since this question has to do with all three of noobnl's One-Click threads I figured I'd rather post here than in three separate threads.
I'm not talking about the battery icon in the notification bar. I'm referring to the actual battery level in system settings. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this 20% flip flop after using the one-click method.
Mod's feel free to move this where it needs to be.

[Q] Accurate Battery Mod

So I have updated to the latest RUU leak and things are running great, but I'm having some issues I wonder if anyone can duplicate.
I deodexed the phone and didn't have any issues, I flashed this accurate battery mod and things seemed fine, but when I wiped data after the mod was flashed it's not booting.
Now I've got a nandroid backup, so i'm not stuck or anything, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of an accurate battery mod made for the new leak?
I know two ways you can try to get an accurate reading of your battery. 1. In recovery wipe battery stats after a couple bump charges. 2. Or download battery calibration from the market. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the advice, but I was actually not talking about the battery being inaccurate, I'm looking for a mod that changes the default battery status icon in the notification bar to include a percentage of battery life left.

If your ROM is deodexed then use UOT kitchen .. because of the framework you wont find a standard mod for a battery with percentages. I personally like the honeycomb battery.
Whoops my bad. Sorry.
Thanks alot, I'll give that a shot.

Really Confused about HOW long the phone is AWAKE vs Unplugged...bad battery drain

on and iphone it tells you excatley how long the phone has been unplugged and Excatley how long the phone was USED and Not in sleep mode. why cant i see this on my Charge? all i see if how long it was unplugged and under status the "Up Time" is the same as on the Battery screen for "battery Usage" at the top. Same number...in "spare parts" the "screen off" and the "Running" are two diffrent numbers as well....
i did the battery calibration last night posted here on XDA and see no diffrence also. BUT, i have a spare battery that was 100% charged (bump charged it as well in the media dock) and when i shut off my phone (which was at 96% after about a half hour usage) i put in the fully charged battery and when it booted it STILL read 96%. Faulty ROM install? ROM itslef? i am on the debloated EE4. i installed Humble this weekend and could atually watch the battery meter read down....any ideas at all? was thinking of Odin back to Stock EE4 and debloating myself, calibrate etc and see if it is a ROM issue....
but i really would love to be able to see excatley how long my USAGE is compated to how long the phone is unlugged, and to find out why so much battery drain. I am now at 77% with "uptime" reading at 2 hours 26min...
Thanks for all your help!
Stock Debloated Deodexed ROM EE4
Standard Battery
Nothing syncing but Gmail and contacts
No weather widgets or anything like that syncing
It very well could be the ROM or some type of confliction.

Hey? is this same From twitter???
i am wodering that as well. when i got it, i used Odin to go to STOCK EE4, Then flashed the debloated version, then i tried Humble (CWM flash) then used my Clockwork Back up to go BACK to humble...
i take it it is better to Odin a rom? since it erases the entire phone?
im gonna try maybe Gummy tonight...Odin
Yep, It's me. Yes, that's what I would do. Start from scratch.

It's really just a shortcut to the built-in battery history that Android provides but is usually hidden. It should give you the information that you are looking for; it does on my Charge.
Highly unlikely it is a ROM issue. My guess is you are not giving it enough time on the battery calibration. It takes a min or a day or 2 to get in sync once you calibrate it and wipe out the stats. Reason being is you need to wipe stats when fully charged, then you need to let it run all the way down to 0-1% and then fully charge it without using it. After doing this a couple of times then the battery stats have some info on the highs and lows or the battery setting. Currently I'm running Humble 1.42 and get an easy 15+ hrs out of a full charge. And mind you I stream media alone on my device for at at least 2+hrs a day let alone any of the other stuff I'm doing with it. And streaming media for sure sucks battery down.
This is by far ( as far as I'm concerned at least) the best way to go about calibrating the battery in your device. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1187698

[Q] battery miscalibration, please help!

Howdy folks. I have a major problem with my t769, and was hoping someone could help me figure it out. This problem began quite some time ago and has gotten worse. My battery stopped accepting a full charge (according to the meter.)
I had been running PA (racing port) for quite a while without a problem. The problem may have cropped up due to charging the phone while off at some point. When the problem first appeared, it would only charge up to 98%. I chalked it up to the fact that some phones apparantly don't trickle charge (for battery longevity?). Then the phone would only get to ~90%, then 83%... etc.
I have tried all three kernels available to us, nothing changes. Tried several different basebands. Tried reinstalling PA, no dice. Tried changing roms. Currently on Provision rom. The battery will not charge beyond 48 percent.
My issue does not appear to be a faulty battery; I recently purchased a couple new batteries and they do the same thing. Even after charging with an external charger - the phone still misreports the battery capacity. This has the effect of reaching a battery level of 0% (according to the meter) long before the actual battery capacity is exhausted. Further to that end, the android battery stats are never automatically wiped since the phone's battery meter never actually reaches 100%. The android battery stats page currently shows 4days on battery. I suppose this is because I last manually wiped the battery stats or pulled the battery 4 days ago.
Some more odd tidbits...
When the phone's battery meter reports 0%, the phone will automatically shut off ONLY if the display is ON. If the phone reaches the 0% mark while the display is OFF, it will continue to run and sometimes readjust the battery meter in 4-5% increments. i.e. if I turn off the screen when it hits 1%, and turn back on the screen some time later and the meter will report 4%. Other times it seems it will not readjust the meter while the screen is off and will remain at 1%. When the phone reports 1%, the battery is still outputting at least 3.5v. From what I understand, most 3.7v lithium ion batteries have an approximate safe operating range of between 3.2v-4.2v.
Really odd:
It seems that once the battery is pulled, the meter will revert to 0% once the phone is booted regardless of what the meter showed before the battery pull. I have not done this in the last couple days but it has happened several times and appears to be a repeatable issue.
All of my problems could logically be caused by a battery miscalibration, save the last point.
I have tried several calibration apps in the market that don't seem to do anything. I recently stumbled on this huge thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765609
I have not read through all 200+ pages but it seems this has worked for many people. Unfortunately, I've been unable to get it to report values with the lightningX2 or CM10 kernels though. It states that the CM kernel should be supported, so I don't understand why it doesn't want to spit out values.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've grown quite attached to this phone and would like to continue using it!
Charge your phone overnight. Reboot to recovery (leave the phone plugged in). In cwm navigate to the advanced menu. Then in that menu wipe battery stats. Then let your battery drain down as much as possible before charging it again.
That should fix it.

Many thanks for the reply. I'm currently using TWRP and I dont believe there is a section to wipe the battery stats.
I have removed the batterystats bin manually once android has booted both when the battery is in a near-dead state and in a near-full state and neither seemed to change the meter level. Perhaps I will see a different result by removing this file through recovery before Android boots?
I may install CWM to give this a shot soon but from what I understand, and please correct me if I am mistaken, the removal of this file has no bearing on the actual battery calibration. It was said that this file only affects what is displayed in the android battery stats page. There does appear to be a lot of confusion and controversy across the forums regarding whether or not this file is indeed responsible for actual calibration between true battery capacity and the state of the battery meter.
Not sure if this is important but when charging the phone (while turned off) the bootloader charging animation seems to report a value that is consistant with what the booted meter reports. (i.e. the animation will show ~50% battery left when the meter inside android will report 48%)

Just out of curiosity, does this happen across all roms? Does it do it for stock as well? Maybe return to stock and check? I gave up on TWRP not because I didn't like the recovery, but it seemed to be... off... somehow... The 2.4 wouldn't restore backups (and would randomly reboot), and the 2.3.3 wouldn't reboot when plugged in (it would just power off). I also had some issues with my sd card with one of them (2.3.3 I think but not sure) on one of the JB roms and I lost all of my data. After going back to CWM 5.5.0.4 I haven't had any issues.
Both TWRP versions are built on the default CM10 kernel (correct me if I'm wrong here). I went back to stock about 2 weeks ago and am getting 4-5 days on battery life (light usage) where on ANY JB kernel the most I could get was a day and a half. Perhaps there's something missing/wrong with the JB kernel, and as such, TWRP isn't working properly because of it.
Perhaps the battery isn't getting read properly... have you tried cleaning the contacts with iso alcohol?
Sorry I couldn't be more help...:crying:
It happens for the two JB roms I have tried. I've not tried to return to stock yet but if you are getting 4-5 days of light usage that is incentive enough for me to give it a whirl! I never was able to squeeze more than about a day and a half out of a JB rom on my blaze either, even before these battery problems cropped up. I started using TWRP on my last phone mainly due to the fact that it can compress the backups but I've also become more accustomed it's UI. I think I'm currently using 2.4, but I vaguely remember both the SD issue and the power off instead of reboot issue you describe with the previous rev.
I can't speak to if the recoveries are built from CM. Now that you mention it, both JB roms that I have tried on the blaze show higher than normal battery usage by media and android system processes. Are you running a complete stock ICS or GB rom, or is it some debloated one? Can you tell me which one it is?
I've cleaned both the internal battery connector and micro usb connector to no avail. You have been a great deal of help, thanks again!
One other quick Q... After returning to stock, do you still have the black and white colored (powered off) charge animation? Ever since I rooted this thing, the power off charge animation starts up with the stock color (green filled battery) but quick flashes off and changes to the black and white one. Perhaps this is part of my problem, remanants of the stock bootloader mixed with the rooted one?

I'm running stock rooted uvmb1 (ics), which I've debloated and customized a bit (nothing special). Stock roms have the stock battery charging animation.
The battery drain is just one of those things I can't fully explain, as I have a few other devices running CM10 or 10.1 and they have great standby/light usage battery life
