Is everyone else's Stock Battery Indicator ridiculous inaccurate? I'm at 42% battery life currently (widget/spare parts) and the stock indicator shows a level around 65-75%.

it's not 'inaccurate' samsung has set it like that. but if you want to tweak it, try search around.

Ah, correction, rather than inaccurate it just rounds up generously.

Yea, that's common. They don't have very many level drops.
If anyone finds an app that can overlay a % (or replace it with a %) on top of the STOCK ICON, that'd be awesome. There's some that add an additional icon but I don't want that, that's just stupid to have two battery icons...
Also if anyone finds an app that can overlay a dBm signal in place of the signal strength meters that'd be awesome, too.

Yes, I was wanting a NEW battery gauge, one that shows the percentage, not the ridiculous stock icon thats off by a mile. Also, I'm with you I dont want two battery icons up there. I guess its harder than I think it should be to create an app that does that.
I'd assume since it's the TouchWiz UI that something specific to the Captivate would have to change the icon... That's my assumption anyway, I'm not a developer.

You guys might want to try System Info Widget in the Market. Pretty good and definitely accurate.
What annoys me is that Samsung has the numerical info in the about screen, so why not just create a toggle so we can go from bar to numeric....
I think they pulled an Apple and wanted the bars to always look bigger.
I installed Battery Widget (the one with over 250K downloads)... Best thing for now...
I noticed the same thing right away... Not sure if they thought users would miss this but its a little misleading..
Battery status widget works for me.

How does cyanogen and all the rest get the battery % into the top bar? For instance after the froyo update if i would rather run stock but i want the battery % how would I install that?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that is in one of his framework mods. Then you would need his spare parts to enable/disable the function.
Personally I think it sucks too much battery to make it necessary to have. Battery Indicator in the market doesn't use much battery life so it runs better for me.

thanks for the reply. Does he have a section for framework mods only instead of his full rom download? if not, i guess i won't be having that feature with a stock rom

Are you sure it sucks battery to have the % there? I haven't heard of that.
For me, yes.
That would be impossible. The percent is not an app like those battery apps on the market. the percent is just additional code in the services.jar file. it's the same service that keep track of the battery the only difference here is the addition of the code is to show the state of the battery in percent. I hope this helps. One more addition, when froyo comes out it will not be included until cyanogen makes his rom.

yeah this will not be included in froyo which is why i was trying to get started on making it work, I don't think i will be successful though.
If the entire code for it its contained in one class then you could try taking the equivalent .smali from CM and putting it in your rom. Better yet copy only the lines that contain the mod

The original implementation of the batt % absolutely killed batteries, this has since been fixed however.
Today is my first day with more or less normal usage pattern with the Captivate. I've been watching the battery on the status bar with interest. Decided to look at charge level through Settings > About Phone > Status, and while the status bar graphic looks to show a battery at ~80-85% capacity, the actual number was 62%. Sure would be nice to have a better depiction of the situation on the status bar...
Same here. Looks like mine is at least 50% in the taskbar but is "actually" 29%. Is there a way to revert to the default android taskbar?
Really, someone needs to write an app for these phones that does away with the battery graphic and just shows you the percent number (Like they do on the iphones).
Cant believe nobody has done this for android yet.

This gives you a widget, which is decent. But on the iphone in the upper corner, there is no silly batter graphic, it shows you a number percentage(i.e. 82%), that way you know exactly how much battery life is left.
Battery Status Indicator in the marketplace seems to work. There are a bunch of other ones, none that I have found that actually replace the stock battery icon. It just displays another battery icon with the % in the status bar.
it is the same issue with my nexus one, the battery icon looks like 80% left and the status screen shows 60ish%. it must be an android os issue. the funny thing is that the x10a i had seemed to show a much better representation of actual life left. i used to use my battery status from the market and it would just show the % of life left all the time in the top left corner of the status bar
Yep, I've noticed the same. I think that the battery indicater doesn't change untill after you reach the threshold for state... So it doesn't show two bars missing until you hit 59/60%. its very annoying.
One of my coworkers had an app that places a percent indicater in the notification bar... Ill be looking into getting that.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
I think the battery icon is only showing 4 or 5 stages of battery life, and it's very underhanded because it shows more than what it actually has.
a full battery is > 75%
slight sliver is 74% - 50%
orange is 49% - 25%
red is < 25%
I would love to have the icon replaced with something more accurate.
Is it just me or does Battstat not read the same as your phones battery indicator?

Yeah, everything that tells me my battery percentages disagrees with what the icon says.
I'm p. sure they doctored it just so it doesnt look like it's burning through battery as fast as it is

so you think the battery icon is wrong and Battstat is correct? I guess I may agree with that, since at times they seem to catch up to each other..
yeah, just like apple's explanation of antennagate, the algorithm used to calculate what the battery icon shows isn't entirely accurate. for example, my battery is at 85%, but it will show full until it's in the 70s.

Not sure if this is hidden somewhere in the settings, but can we add the percentage inside the icon? Thx.

Its not there maybe in further updates they will implement
Completely annoyed at this ^^. I just want the % like on Pixel 2 XL. Why do they do stupid things like this???
100% need to get this back. Of all the little tweaks and customizations you can do, this is what they got rid of.
I get it takes real estate in the tiny corner but give me the option.
Seems like they've heard the complains:
Question: Can you please explain why there is no option for Battery Percentage in the status bar?
Answer: Feedback received. We will support it in the next update.

For the time being, I'm using a 3rd party app from. Play store and that serves the purpose.. Battery meter BT

I'm on the current Oxygen OS 5.1.9 (22_180713) but still cannot find where to enable battery percentage. I only find options to choose either battery bar, circle or percentage alone.
Any help guys?

I don't think that percent within the icon was ever the intention of that update to be honest. I ended up installing Xposed and Gravitybox to get some other things and am using circle battery with percent from that.
easy fix,
root and "Flat Style Bar Indicators"
or
aosp ROM,
which must have been installed out of the box by Oneplus !!
btw, official Oneplus ROM is trash and garbage, it's better than Samsung ultimate shi...t but still very bad.
Huge shame on Oneplus !!
Also, Huge Shame on Google for not delivering universal AOSP with critical drivers and apps !!
It's located in settings>status bar>battery style. I'm running 5.1.9 A6003
I think they are wanting the % inside the circle or bar.
From my understanding, there wasn't enough room to do both and still be legible.
Could somebody confirm OnePlus eventually implemented this?
If you post a screen shot, that would be highly appreciated.
Deciding which one of OP5T/OP6 is better suits my needs before ordering and if this feature is missing, it'd be extremely annoying.
I don't know if this is what you guys are talking about. It's fairly simple. Currently using OP6

When OP6 first came out, there wasn't option to show battery percentage.. they fixed it long time ago already. This is old thread.

Perfect, thank you for the confirmation that it has been fixed.
Hello everyone, it's days that I try, in vain, to activate battery percentage display. In menĂ¹ settings and in particular in the "status bar" section, I can not find any option to do this.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks in advance.
I read that is coming in the next update most likely. How true? no idea but I'm sure it's coming soon.

Well that's even better. Awesome!
Hopefully this will be like the OnePlus 5 after launch. There was like 2 or 3 updates in the first 10 days or something. Bug fixes and feature add-ins
I'm using the Xposed module GravityBox to get the percentage.
Use accubattery and you will get battery percentage on left side
OP should switch to circle battery icon. Best of both worlds not much space taken up while still actually being useful by showing the percentage in the center of the circle. Probably will never happen.

You can install this app
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bhanu.powerbar
It can add batter percentage and also adds a a bar you can then in the phone setting hide the battery icon if you just want the percentage.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of this as it makes the damn number so small you can't read if it's a 6 or an 8 or even a 9 sometimes. The standard 100% with the symbol is needed for certain. They can still add in the percentage in the whatever icon for the ones that like it but the standard number with the % is a must I feel.
I usually have the percentagem with no icon, that's perfect for me. It doesn't had any more space and it was already in Oxygen OS, not sure why they removed it.
Lets see what they do on the next update.
battery percentage is way more important that icon,
also they can easily can add slim icon to save some space.

Do you know how to set this double sim status icon?
