So I have updated to the latest RUU leak and things are running great, but I'm having some issues I wonder if anyone can duplicate.
I deodexed the phone and didn't have any issues, I flashed this accurate battery mod and things seemed fine, but when I wiped data after the mod was flashed it's not booting.
Now I've got a nandroid backup, so i'm not stuck or anything, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of an accurate battery mod made for the new leak?
I know two ways you can try to get an accurate reading of your battery. 1. In recovery wipe battery stats after a couple bump charges. 2. Or download battery calibration from the market. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the advice, but I was actually not talking about the battery being inaccurate, I'm looking for a mod that changes the default battery status icon in the notification bar to include a percentage of battery life left.

If your ROM is deodexed then use UOT kitchen .. because of the framework you wont find a standard mod for a battery with percentages. I personally like the honeycomb battery.
Whoops my bad. Sorry.
Thanks alot, I'll give that a shot.

How does cyanogen and all the rest get the battery % into the top bar? For instance after the froyo update if i would rather run stock but i want the battery % how would I install that?
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think that is in one of his framework mods. Then you would need his spare parts to enable/disable the function.
Personally I think it sucks too much battery to make it necessary to have. Battery Indicator in the market doesn't use much battery life so it runs better for me.

thanks for the reply. Does he have a section for framework mods only instead of his full rom download? if not, i guess i won't be having that feature with a stock rom

Are you sure it sucks battery to have the % there? I haven't heard of that.
For me, yes.
That would be impossible. The percent is not an app like those battery apps on the market. the percent is just additional code in the services.jar file. it's the same service that keep track of the battery the only difference here is the addition of the code is to show the state of the battery in percent. I hope this helps. One more addition, when froyo comes out it will not be included until cyanogen makes his rom.

yeah this will not be included in froyo which is why i was trying to get started on making it work, I don't think i will be successful though.
If the entire code for it its contained in one class then you could try taking the equivalent .smali from CM and putting it in your rom. Better yet copy only the lines that contain the mod

No, it wouldn't be impossible...
The original implementation of the batt % absolutely killed batteries, this has since been fixed however.
Is everyone else's Stock Battery Indicator ridiculous inaccurate? I'm at 42% battery life currently (widget/spare parts) and the stock indicator shows a level around 65-75%.

it's not 'inaccurate' samsung has set it like that. but if you want to tweak it, try search around.

Ah, correction, rather than inaccurate it just rounds up generously.

Yea, that's common. They don't have very many level drops.
If anyone finds an app that can overlay a % (or replace it with a %) on top of the STOCK ICON, that'd be awesome. There's some that add an additional icon but I don't want that, that's just stupid to have two battery icons...
Also if anyone finds an app that can overlay a dBm signal in place of the signal strength meters that'd be awesome, too.

Yes, I was wanting a NEW battery gauge, one that shows the percentage, not the ridiculous stock icon thats off by a mile. Also, I'm with you I dont want two battery icons up there. I guess its harder than I think it should be to create an app that does that.
I'd assume since it's the TouchWiz UI that something specific to the Captivate would have to change the icon... That's my assumption anyway, I'm not a developer.

You guys might want to try System Info Widget in the Market. Pretty good and definitely accurate.
What annoys me is that Samsung has the numerical info in the about screen, so why not just create a toggle so we can go from bar to numeric....
I think they pulled an Apple and wanted the bars to always look bigger.
I installed Battery Widget (the one with over 250K downloads)... Best thing for now...
I noticed the same thing right away... Not sure if they thought users would miss this but its a little misleading..
Battery status widget works for me.

I have a question about battery calibration.
After I deleted batterystats.bin, the meter seems to be working fine (prior to deletion, battery meter was not correct - for example, only 50% battery was remaining, but battery meter would be around 70%.
Anyway, do I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new/upgrade ROM?
I've been changing to different ROMs frequently nowadays to find best battery ROM. So I was wondering if I have to calibrate battery each time I flash new ROM.
Thank you!
Honestly I dont think it matters much. I've heard arguments both ways but what I do is I calibrate when I first get me phone (or a new battery) and thats it. I get great battery like even going between roms

You MUST delete the battery stats.bin everytime you flash a new rom

I don't agree with the word must. It would be a good thing after a few flashes but EVERY time is not needed.

Um.. no. theres a proper way to caliberate the battery.
If that was the case then I'd be wiping my battery stats everyday because of CM7 nightlies
But yeah, I'd probably say just do it if you feel that your battery life is awful. Maybe once every 3-5 months? I've had the NS since it first came out and I haven't wiped my battery stats. Battery life is still amazing, so I don't know.
Is there anything that I can flash to get a battery indicator in the notification bar that shows the percentage on stock?
I don't want to flash another rom since stock had been stable for me.

You might be able to pull the framework-res.apk from the phone and edit it, then push it back. But I haven't seen anything to prove you can. I think stock had an LG version of framework-res as well, not sure which has the battery stuff in it.
I had the Big battery Notifier installed and it showed the percentage in increments of 1%. After having uninstalled it, I find it more bearable to go all day without charging, because when I see the battery draining and dropping 1% within a few minutes, I get anxiety.
Now just seeing the battery icon, and how it displays just color to signify how much approximate charge there is, it feels more comforting just knowing it's more than half full without being very specific about it to make me nervous.
Bottom line, I suggest just leaving the stock battery indicator, or install a real specific one and get battery anxiety.
The Dark Sinister Taskbar available in his thread works great with the stock rom. Its s black taskbar with a blue percentage battery indicator.
Hi, I tried making my own and it is a flashable zip thru cwm.
It is for 2.2.2. Just try it. Make sure you do a nandroid backup in case something wrong happens.
I already tried it with eb1.05, sinister1.2, ultimate1.0 and stock.
So I've bought a new battery for my nexus s and the problem is that it shuts down at around 40%, then when I plug it in it will show 0%. I looked around the forums and I have tried to calibrate the battery by resetting battery stats, draining it and then charging it to full. I have also gotten a replacement on the battery, still the same problem. The difference of these ones are that it is 1440 mAh and the original is 1500mAh. Does anyone have a suggestion to fix this problem?
Many thanks
What ROM and kernel are you using?
Either way, try a new or different ROM with a different kernel to see if does it on that one too.
Good luck

I'm using XenonHd rom and marmite kernel , I'll try and flash a different rom later. Also I don't get the problem with my stock battery it just happens on the other one which is strange. But thanks I'll give your suggestion ago

The battery could be a cheap knock off depending on where u bought it.

Yeah that's what I thought too, but another theory of mine is that its 60mAh different from the original so that have messed up battery meter on the phone, I've tried changing the kernel but still the same thing happens. I'll keep on trying to calibrate the battery meter to see if it makes any difference
Hi, it seems to be a bad "new" battery, anyway, to be sure, try to have a look which of your apps are running in the background, try to find if such app can cause a huge battery drain.
---------- Post added at 06:06 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:59 PM ----------
And also, it seems your signal from the your operator is not very stable (=battery drain) - try to switch 2G only, try to switch-of wifi, on your screenshot - the battery collapse comes at 70% (?)
Update, I have just installed a new rom and kernel, and I think it is just a extremely inaccurate battery reading as it would also turn off at 40% on the battery icon in the status bar ( The graph shows that it dies off at a higher battery percentage which I'm not sure why". But after it dies, I can turn it back on and it would still have some battery life left, approximately another 20 mins of usage before it goes completely flat. So I think wiping the cache/davlik or installing the new rom made a slight difference.
'pgcz' The huge battery drain you may see from the battery graph is not battery drain, but it is me using the phone, playing apps etc. until it turns off so I can get a screen shot to upload onto here but thank you
I will keep on trying the battery calibration method I've found which hopefully would help, otherwise I'll just leave the situation as it is and keep the battery as a backup one

ok, I understood your graph now, anywat, if you are going to run new rom and kernel, I can recommend rom Jelly Shot v.3.2 (or upper) with Marmite 8.4 CM kernel
