just for feedback its working and very handy...
i hope this will also install busybox along with rooting.

Who can test with 2.3.4 ?
If it works here write a review.
Big THX.

It worked on my 2.3.4. Although I had quite some problems porting cwm.
Edit: Can't unroot my 2.3.4, it softbricked, and as said above rooting works for my 2.3.4.
Tested, and if you need help getting this to work on 2.3.4 please inform me I will help you.

Now we don't have correct CWM to apply your rooting update. I hope Skin1980 will adopt his CWM to the new GB firmware and we will test your update.zip

I think leovitiaz meant if we can use his rooting update with new GB firmware (XXKPE)
Unrooting can be not working, because it's removes /system/xbin/sh which is shell to execute some scripts (This is only IMHO, I can be wrong)

[Q] HTC Desire S is wiped and without clockworkmod [SOLVED]

Hi, i received HTC sense 3.0 and android 2.3.5 update. I tried to update it but it stuck on boot screen. Restarting didn't help. So I wiped all the data but later realised I no longer have clockworkmod installed.
I go to hboot and try to put recovery on sdcard through adb, but adb cant find my device.
Is there anything I can do? My phone is pretty messed up now, and I don't know what to do RUU also doesn't work, because my phone can't be found.
// #1 OK I managed to install clockworkmod through the Android Flasher. I've downloaded BeatMod BlissSense Hybrid v2.1.zip but I cant install it through the clockworkmod. It says:
"E:Error in /sdcard/BeatMod BlissSense Hybrid v2.1.zip
(Status 1)
Installation aborted."
// #2 sorry to bother.. I disabled the verification check in clockworkmod, installed su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip and then custom ROM.. everything now works fine. Of course with the help of tutorials on xda and great people over here.
This was the worst 4 hours in my live as I thought my phone is bricked.

You don't appear alone with problem, so thanks for re-editing the thread post to provide updates, if you have the time and could try to add any URLs and links to the files that you used to resolve your issues, then that would be great!
I've already several threads where it appears the update has put others in the same position, so your update could prove to be a useful resource assisting the recovery of others!
Cheers.

ROM (I used this): http://dev-host.org/80uvbx4wgf4l/BeatMod_BlissSense_Hybrid_v2.1.zip
----
Install ClockworkMod:
What you need to do is get the phone to fastboot and connect it to the PC via USB.
Launch and update Android Flasher. Choose your phone and browse for recovery image (recovery.img that you have unzipped)
Click finish and wait. Clockworkmod should by installed.
Get files on the phone:
Go to recovery
Mounts and storage menu
Mount USB storage
Then copy files (custom ROM you want to install and su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip) from PC to SD card
Install Root:
Go to recovery
Install zip from SD card
Toogle signature verification (disable it)
Choose zip from card and install su-2.3.6.3-efgh-signed.zip
Choose zip from card and install custom ROM
Optional steps? (right after installing clockworkmod)
Go to recovery
Wipe data
Go to advanced
Mounts and Storage menu
Format /sdcard
That's it. Hope it helps.

Help! Stuck in Boot Loop!

I tried to flash DlevROM INFUSE EDITION from ClockWorkMod and I get stuck in a boot loop.
I've downloaded a return to stock rom, transferred the zip to external sd but I can't seem to locate it on the "install zip from sdcard" screen.
What am I doing wrong? My phone is totally out of commission until I flash a new rom.
I've literally clicked on every folder in "install zip from sdcard" trying to figure out where the rom is.
When I click on "external_sd" it doesn't find any files. Am I looking in the wrong place?
Please help!!! My phone is totally out of commission! Thanks.
You have to wipe all of your data after flashing a new ROM. This is the most common cause of boot loops.
Also make sure you are useing the correct clock work mod version (infuse version). Useing a version made for another phone causes partition and file location mix ups. There is a 100% working one for the infuse somewhere on this fourm. I just can't find the link because I'm on mobile.

Thanks for the quick reply - however, since I'm in a boot loop, is it even possible to change the clockwork mod version?
Also, now when I go to "choose zip from sdcard" it says "no app2sd partition found." I can't click on it at all now.

Sorry - just woke up.
Quick question - where is the file marked "recovery"? I only see in that download Odin and the three files that use with with Odin. Did you want me to follow his instructions first with Odin and then yours? Thanks.
Are you on the correct CWM version? It seems like the partition tables inside of CWM are messed up.
Also consider the ultimate unbrick software it's a one click thing that will send you back to stock.

Yes it is you just need to go into fastboot mode (volume up + power) and flash recovery from your computer again.

[Q] Will someone please explain to a noob what this means

My goal: Root my old skyrocket so that I can run apps from Google Play that require root. I do not want to flash a custom ROM.
These are the instructions I am following, I am currently trying to figure out step 5:
1. Start ODIN
2. Put phone into download mode
3. Download(USE FIREFOX!) CWM 5.5.0.4 OR TWRP 2.2.2.0 TAR FILE "recovery.tar.md5" , do not change the filename, and select it in PDA section of ODIN
4. Hit the START button in odin, wait until it finishes.
5. Udate CWM from HERE or TWRP from HERE or with the TWRP 2.4.1.0 Flashable Zip
6. You're done.
Click to collapse
Since I have CWM installed, I clicked the 'HERE' link on step 5, which sends me here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777970
This is what that link tells me to do:
- Download this file ----> updater.sh (updated to fix typo)
- Put it on your sdcard
- open adb and type:
Code:
su
sh /mnt/sdcard/updater.sh skyrocket
- it will reboot you into recovery
- starting in v14.2.1 it will automatically start installing and reboot when its done
Note: If your sdcard is not mounted on /mnt/sdcard then open the script and change the line that says path=/mnt/sdcard/sk8sUpdater to match your mount point. i.e. ICS users may have to change it to say path=/mnt/emmc/sk8sUpdater
Click to collapse
-I have no ****ing clue what this is telling me to do.
-I have put updater.sh on my sdcard
-What the **** is adb. I don't even know if that's a phone or PC application, or some file manager, or what.
-What does completing step 5 accomplish? Will this have rooted me pursuant to my goal at the top of this post? I have literally no clue what these insturctions are trying to do nor when they have given me what I want.
Thanks.
Leave. Skyrocket is i727. Also don't cuss. People are more likely to help someone who doesn't seem *****y. And Google searches would have helped you. Adb. Is that hard to put in Google?

After hours of research I came to a conclusion that CWM is the problem. It is described somewhere in the thread about it. There is a better CWM but requires unlocked bootloader.
So I will ask, has someone managed to follow this tutorial, and has locked bootloader? If yes, could you link to the root/CWM thread or file that you used?

I have the exact same problem as poster above! It seems like CWM is not working properly, what exact version (link us) of CWM did everybody who got it working use?
Which version of CWM actually lets you choose install zip from sdcard and not give error?
I have this CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2003069
I have CWM from that thread aswell, 6.1 for J. I can get into it no problem, but when I select choose zip from sdcard it says no files. I have put both files (superuser and jb root.zip) on:
- internal /sdcard/
- external sdcard
No matter what I do I get no files when choosing install zip from sdcard. Tried this on ST26i_11.0.A.3.28 and ST26i_11.0.A.7.5 makes no difference.
Do you have any idea what is causing this?
