I'm curious as to what kind of GPS accuracy are you getting on your Nexus S. Please let me know what's the average and best accuracy you're getting.
I'm getting around 30-50m accuracy while in my house. My Nexus One on the other hand (placed side-by-side with my Nexus S) gets around 3m accuracy!
The best accuracy I had on my Nexus S is 10m, and it doesn't stay at 10m for long.
My Nexus One also locks on much quicker than the Nexus S. The Nexus S usually takes up to 1 minute for it to lock on, sometimes it takes like 10-20 secs if I'm lucky. The Nexus One only needs a few seconds to get a lock
How did you check that?
Well, I used my NS with Sygic Aura this morning, just for testing.
And it worked well
GPS fixed in seconds!
I used an app called GPS Status & Toolbox to check the accuracy
In order to save battery life i keep my wifi sleep policy at "off after 15 minutes". So it does not stay connected when i don't need internet. (push mails and stuff go through 3g) No heavy syncing.
My question, can wifi go off quicker? 15 minutes is way too long. I mean , i use my phone every 15 minutes so it really never goes off , except when i sleep. 5 minutes would be better , not?
Is there a way?
WiFi goes off when the screen goes off, unless a download is acitve.

To actually save battery you should have wifi set to never off. It uses much less energy than cellular data.
That is why it is set that way on stock rom as well.
Turn wifi off only when you are outside of range, preferably by widget or quick setting.

really? I always thought otherwise. i will give it a try.. and post results here.
what's your battery life/your usage?
i'd use my phone pretty heavy during the day - wi-fi on for maybe an hour, 1 hour of video playback, approximately half an hour of music, half an hour of apps/games, half an hour reading, a few minutes talk. could it last the whole day?
It surely will!
I Play music 2 Hrs a day, 1 hr on Wifi, 30 min of Video and lasts 2 days easily!

At an average i am getting 1 & 1/2 to 2 Days on normal usage which pretty good on any android mobile, i will play games for 1 to 2 hours, Browsing for 1 hour and call's max 1 hour.
I don't even get an entire 12 hours on weekdays.
College.
But I go through Saturdays and Sundays on one charge.
centrifugal ducatk
i bought 2 batteries
I charge overnight and use it the whole day... Happy with it.. And sometimes charge it while driving.. Keeping brightness to as low as possible and increasing it only outdoors helps a lot... Cheers.
Use a black background/wallpaper, instant battery boost, I generally end the day with 50% batt. and I tend to listen to a lot of music, play games @ lunch and use the data connections a lot
First, a LCD screen does not get anything from a black wallpaper, or at least it isn't significant.
Second, how much time do you spend looking your wallpaper during the day?
I Use it on Auto Brightness and a Bright Color Wallaper!
Use it for 1 Hr Music, max 30min of gaming, 30min - 1Hr Wifi Browsing with Bg data On, 30 min call and 100 sms messages!
Yet I get 2-3 Days off it.
Its an awesome phone!
If you are not using "Hi Galaxy" disable it, double click on the home button -> settings -> voice talk settings -> uncheck wake up command.
it will save you battery by at least 5 to 10%....

Battery life depends on usage ofc unless you got some fake or defected battery sitting at the back. I think it's possible to get a better battery.
I charge mine overnight and it kinda lasts through the day. With about 4-5 hours of music and 2 hours or maybe more of games. I keep brightness on auto cuz the light detection thing is real nice and it keeps the brightness at a near perfect level except when my fingers get in the way of the detectors which are near the front camera.
I'm guessing if you use this phone for just calls and messages and when listening to music if the screen is switched off, it should last at least 3 days.
Also my Wi-Fi is on all the time and I have a live wallpaper ^_^
You could prolly make the battery drain really quickly if you play music and keep brightness on full while playing some hd game like shadowgun.

Well, black being the off state of an lcd pixel... Cba to explain.
Derp on derper
First thing is don't use widgets which use internet .......
The best thing is use DROIDWALL app from market and .........block the internet to apps which u will not use internet
Example :1). if ur are using gmail then block email app
2) some games in which more adds will come so better to block that also for not using internet for disable adds
3) for me I will not use maps, places, latitude .....so I will block that also
This the stuff that helps to increase my battery life

Black is not 'off' in an LCD display. You are confusing that with an OLED display.
SGS2 has an SAMOLED+ display. In that a black pixel is truly off. That does save power.
But in an LCD screen like the one on SGR, even black is on. It is just colored black. Try looking at a black image on your phone and then switching the screen off. You will see the difference.
I have my wake gesture on and goes off after 10 secs. I imagine all the times I move my arm a day that it has to be coming on over 1000 times. Has anyone done a comparison with it on and off to see if there's a difference on the battery?

I actually became obsessed with this on the gear1. I hated having to push the button but my battery life was so bad I really had no choice. Then after some updates it was only good about 18-20 hours with motion but a good 3-4 days without. That is probably true with this one too so I am just using it with motion (which is best for me) and not paying attention if it's better without. (Head in the sand theory) However all that being said, I'm sure it would last longer with motion off. I may have to try it since the movement of the home button does make it easier to wake the screen if motionnis off. I will say that while there are some trade offs coming from the gear 1, I am loving this watch!!!
I wish the lowest wasn't 10 seconds. I mean, the point of the motion wake up is to see the time immediately and it doesn't take me 10 seconds to read the time. 3 seconds should be enough. If I was going to do something on my gear, then it will stay on.
Hello everyone, I just bought a Hongkong SM-G9700 S10e, and flashed the latest Android 11 firmware to it.
I found that the GPS reception is noticeable weak (I use GPSTest from Play store). The S10e can't locate me if I stand next to the window, and even though when I go outside the building, it always takes at least 30 seconds for the Time To First Fix with > 50 meters accuracy and 30 seconds more to reach the maximum accuracy at 5 meters.
I also did the test with 3 other phones and all of them can reach to ~3 m accuracy in less than 10 sec (I clear the A-GPS data before the test).
Did you get this issue with your phone?
