Toshiba Portege G500 / WM6 Upgrade

I know this is really only a place for HTC made devices but does anyone use the Toshiba Portege G500?
Looking for a Smartphone again as I'm getting a little bored of my MDA Vario II, the PDA novelty has finally worn off after having an XDA Mini S before that.
I really like the look of the Toshiba Portege G500.
Does anyone know of any WM6 upgrades available for it? Since it seems like a great speced device with having a fast CPU and HSDPA.

hello!
i also have a g500.. but the phone doesn't boot.. when i turn it on it just show the word TOSHIBA and stops. I can't even turn it off. The only way to switch it off is to remove the battery!
Should I just install WM or is there any other way to solve my problem? I thankfull for any kind of help.

at mpx.gen.tr you can actually find stable WM 6.1 and WM 6.5 roms for the device, play around a bit.

What do you mean?
You don't need to "create" a bootable rom, imo.
The .XLDs seem to be X-Loader files and afaik you need to format your SD to FAT16, copy the .XLD to it and start your mobile with "*" pressed and "PowerOn".
"SD Card Upgrade" should appear.
That's what google translated though...
Since i get G500 in some days i'm not the best resource for info.
So please don't kill me if you brick your brick - ehm phone.

Wifi problem

dose HTC Atlas P4351 T-mobile have a wireless device??
becouse if its, why it wont turn on.
i have this problem so many of HTC herald users.
so can any one help me on it?
dose there any other wifi application work on WM6?
Note: i have tried the registary issue it dosent work for Herald.

Lol.. One of the secret Herald/Wing mysteries...
I've had my Wing for a couple of months now and am also struggling with Wifi problems... Specifically, my Wing won't connect to my home wifi network (Belkin G).. This is regardless of security, encryption or the network being visible/hidden.. I've scanned the Net... In all cases, it sees my network, goes to connect and fails (no error message given.)
In one case, after a recent ROM change, my Wing couldn't even initialize the wifi at all.. A hard reset fixed that...
Regardless, My main concern (from reading the posts here) was my Wing was one of many devices with a BAD wifi.. Since I bought it used, I would be screwed... SOOO I was able to logon to a public wifi and it worked just fine..
I'm guessing if you provide some detailed information about your device, the pros will probably be more likely to pipe up..?
Here's just an example:
HTC Wing or Herald?
Have you modified your ROM?
How is your home wifi setup? Visible/hidden, encryption (if so, what type?)
Again, just a suggestion.. As you'll see I'm a 'junior member' so.. Also, hopefully its ok to post a reply though its in the wrong section?

i dont think thats it modefied becouse its a T-mobile HTC and when it work on i saw T-mobile , plus some other extra software.
i bought the phone like that used by the way ....
still have no idea about Wifi problem
by the way a have HTC touch elf , so i know how the wifi should start

I think you can use it on only one phone since they ask you for our IMEI, although I would love to be proved otherwise.

Hi, i just have some problem with focusing camera by tuching dpad,

... but i was wondering - maybe there is some software to test all of the buttons in my htc touch pro - it will be quite nice to test it.

Do a search for raphdiag.nbh. It's a diagnosis image that has a test for the buttons (among other things). You need hard spl to run it, and you need to know how to flash off your sd card. It won't over-write the rom (just don't format the nand).

You can try this tool; it measures input to the d-pad (mostly capacitative responses). It may help with the camera button. You're not using ae button, are you? It's a bad idea to re-map that button.

Just run it from the device, and click on it. I didn't include a shortcut, but you can send one to the start menu.

its not a full circle around dpad - its something wrong (some bad callibration)
or its just alright

[Q] [q] htc one xl android update problem

I Just got a new htc one xl (snapdragon) but i have a problem. When i am going to make an update (OTA) to the android it starts to install it and in the middle stop and i get an error image. I tried a factory reset but nothing changed. Is a problem that i don't have SIM in the phone ? (i don't have micro sim for now but i don't think this is a problem
Anyone can help ?

I would think it might stop when it gets to the part about needing to configure for a carrier. Are you downloading a carrier (ATT, etc) based update?

I download the automaticly update i dont know what is it exactly.
I bought it from china and i live in Greece. Maybe this is the problem
Tomorrow i will put a sim and i will update the thread.

It's most likely a Hong Kong model if you bought it from China, but you might still need to have a SIM inserted for it to carry through with the update.

I have the same phone and when updating the software 10 days ago had the same issue. I have tried everything - including the factory reset suggested by HTC - and the phone will now only go as far as the beats audio splash screen. It hangs there forever, generating vast amounts of heat and nothing else!
After a very snotty email to customer services, I have been offered a free check - even though the phone's just out of warranty - if I spend 80RM to send it to Kuala Lumpur?!
If it gets resolved, I'll let you know...but I'm not holding my breath... I seem to have a ery expensive light-up paper weight now...
