Cyanogen Mod 9

Hello all,
I rooted my mod following jaggyjags tutorial. Well now i want to install CM9. So do I need to install Clockworkmod in order to install cm9 or the recovery I added from the jaggyjags tutorial will work with it.

install recovery and wipe dalvic cache,wipe data and flash cm9 zip(rom)
recovery is importants it helps to backp rom in order to install rom again if ur device get bricked
through recovery u can installs new rom kernal so add recovery and flash the rom u want

But I already added a recovery from jaggyjags tut. Wont that work?

so then flash the rom u want

Thank you for your reply. Will the data on sd card be deleted when I flash ROM or it will remain safe?
Also how can I back up my existimg Rom?

I also installed that recovery in jaggys tutorial
and today installed cm 9, works fine
just follow instruction in cm9 thread and it will work

No nothing will be deleted when flashing rom from memery card

To backup your existing rom do a ndroid backup in recovery

Hey, thanks for your reply once again. Just one last question. According to instructions given in cyanogen mod 9 thread :
- Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip from SDCard
- Flash GApps zip from SDCard
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your device will be stuck at boot)
- Reboot
- Don't restore data using Titanium Backup! they might cause FC's
- Restoring Apps + Data might cause problems and is not recommended, avoid it if possible!
As mentioned, I can't restore my data as that would cause problems also I need to do factory reset? So all internal memory data will be deleted right? But I can restore sd card data back or I can't restore it back as that gonna create problem as well?
Sorry for so many questions but I wanna be sure before I proceed with this.

It depends, what you wanna restore, if you want game data, or some app data you may and probably will have fc problems, if you want music and pics, no problems.

And I never got issues with titanium backup it works great I restores about 30 apps and got no fcs

Hello hpsgill, so I will use titanium backup only to backup my messages, contacts, pics and videos.

Hi I m using cm9 by saakindia its awesome n hav great battery life..
But it have some limitations so I hope u guyz help me..
1 there is no gaaps downloaded n installed but not working
2 we can't add account bcz there is always error n can't synchroniz d contacts bcz v unable to setup Google account
3 der is no option for radio n split FM not working
4 we unable to off vibrations during typing
5 vibration is too high

I guess I should refrain myself from flashing the Rom. Will use the default one only atm.

Those are rare, and all of them can be fixed in less than a day.

[Q] **HELP**Unfortunately gallery has stopped responding

I have a Galaxy S2 which was running resurrection remix 3.1.3 and I updated it to the newest version which is 4.0.4(ROM version) but since doing this I have an issue with the camera and cannot find an exact cause and was hoping someone could help.
What happens is that the camera app will open but the screen will be black, I can see the camera controls but the screen is black, and if I leave it or close the app the message appears about gallery not responding. I can replicate the issue quite easily, as long as the camera is listed in the recent apps list the fault will occur but will always run fine when I remove it from this list.
I have tried clearing the gallery and camera data/cache, i have also cleared dalvic and cache and also done a wipe data/reset via CWM as well as reflashing the ROM. The ROM has not be modified by me, it is as supplied by the ROM creator.
Does anyone know the cause of this? I am unable to ask this in the ROM forums as I am a new member.

maybe this is the bug in custom rom...
you should try other camara/gallery apps like snap camara...it combines camara app and gallery app...and if you are advance user then you should change the default app...

It doesn't happen in other ROMs so clearly it must be but was hoping to find a way to fix it, instead of working around it as the camera app otherwise works fine. I have never heard of snap camera, how does it compare to other camera apps?

Try removing wipe data of the gallery by using titanium backup.. may help..

Vuper S 3.1.2 Arabic Keyboard doesn't work

Dears, i have installed Viper S 3.1.2 on my Sensation XE and it is first time to install custom ROM, actually it is awesome ROM and very smooth but i have a problem with the Arabic keyboard, it doesn't work and give me error message every time i try to use :crying: . please help me to solve this problem.

Hi,
Uninstall it, go to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik, then install it again and then boot into recovery again before you try to use the keyboard; fix permissions, reboot.
See how it goes.

oh.. where did you get it from? you can use Titanium Backup to uninstall system apps. then download the keyboard from Venom Hub.
and fixing permissions can be done through recovery

i did all the steps but still can't use the arabic keyboard:crying:

I just had a look at it, the one in venom hub and it looks like an ICS keyboard. Doesn't look like the JB version keyboard. Here is an alternative keyboard for the meantime, it's called Hacker's keyboard and it supports Arabic, also it's free

[Q] Htc Weather app not working on ViperS 5.2.1 (Sense 6) Rom???

Hello there.
I've just installed ViperS 5.2.1 (Sense 6) Rom on my HTC Sensation and everything works fine.
The only problem I've found is that the native Htc Weather app is not working.
In Aroma settings I choose to install it, and I can correctly see it among my apps, but when I open it I see a white screen saying Touch here for adding cities, when I touch I see a search field on the top, but when I type a city (anyone) and press my keyboard Enter (there's no OK button on screen) nothing happen. The city I've written is still there with the curson flashing.
On the first screen, if I press to the menu button I see 'modify' (but is disable), 'demo' (that is working), 'settings' (working) and 'modify cards' (activated but not working).
Before installing this new rom I backuped everything with Titanium backup, so if I try to restore this app I see it Weather 5.0.2315402143.580420.525806 and Weather Resource 4.1.2-eng.20130523.221725.
Should I restore them?
I've tried installing the app Weather locations manager for Sense for seeing it would have helped, but whenever I try adding a city with that it says 'Weather locations manager for Sense has stopped'.
When I installed the new rom I choose 'Desense', don't know if this is connected... But also in the previous rom (ViperS 3.1.4) I dind't have Sense but Weather app was working fine.
What can I do for having it wortking fine?

probably the desense option is the matter since htc's weather app is a part of htc sense
install the rom again and this time don't choose desense

sense 5 is lighter than previous versions of sense
give it a try and see how it is

Hey, I love your ROM. Its UI is simply amazing and much much like Android L. :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
But, the notification bar, the MATERIAL design part in the notification bar seems to be always be there once brought down.
Is there any way to send it back up?

I installed it everything good except following
I am deleting the gms file but it shows deleted but actually it is not deleting and i not able to install new google play services app and
Keyboard is not like android L
Please help

Use Titanium Backup to uninstall Google Play Music and Play Services, and reinstall from the Play Store.
And for the L styled keyboard, open Google keyboard app, go to Appearance & Layouts and then select the Theme which you like.

Flash #Rom again.. & follow instruction carefully..
No need wipe data for update.zipv1.1
First flash ROM & reboot
Then, reboot into recovery mode
&
Flash update.zip v1.1
Then,
Wipe cache & dalvik cache
& reboot..
After that, if yo got launcher Forcestop..!! Swipe notification panel>settings>apps>launcher3>
Clear data
That's it.. Launcher ll work fine.. Afterthat no FC..[emoji16][emoji16][emoji16]

Bro i am getting only few applications installed even though i flashed the rom as u said exactly! See the screenies i have attached. Please help your rom looks fabulous and whenever i try to download anything from playstore error 110 comes up. Apk files also dont get installed
