The company I work for wants to integrate the Xoom into our IT dept and such, but we need to be able to lock down and maybe password protect the VPN, WiFi settings, ect, so where Users cannot simply go through and find out the VPN password, or the wifi hotspot password. surely this is possible?
Any suggestions?
Keep in mind, this is for a company so we dont need to void the warranty on the devices by rooting them.
Thanks

I am used to utilize my phone as a modem while travelling. Since switching to the Xperia I cannot because internet sharing application is blocked: "IntShrUi.exe blocked" when launching the application. I understand this is due to company policies (this happened after setting the connection with the exchange server)
Is there any solution to unblock it? I only would like to avoid to bring a different data card with me.
maybe it's just blocked in your rom
because it works in my x1
It is blocked due to company IT restrictions. It cannot execute the IntShrUi.exe
I only wanted to know if there is any different way to use it as modem or to allow th execution of IntShrUi.exe
WMWiFiRouter would work look it up
that is OK while there is a wifi connection.
I wonder if there is a way to tweak the registry
I'm trying to set up Hide my Ass VPN in my rooted Captivate but I can't get an Internet connection. Has anybody managed to set up HMA in a Captivate? If so, are there any special settings?
PS. Support told me that "Most providers block ports, use some proxies etc. which prevents VPN over 3G connections". How can I undo this?
I am no expert on VPN but if the ports services are being blocked on the ISP/3g/ect side there is nothing you can do just like some home ISP's that actively block servers on the home class connections the only way to get around it is pay for the plan that doesn't block those services/ports which is probably the VERY expensive enterprise package.
i dont know anything about HMA, but any other VPN option requires tun.ko module support in the kernel in order for it to work.
Thanks, I'll look into that.

mobiletechvideos has good tun.ko vid
Use dyndns.org unless my ISP just doesn't block the ports needed (which wouldn't surprise me, they do have the telnet port open on an internal router) but I've setup a VPN very easily using them. I just had PPTP encryption, not sure how something like L2TP would work across it or not.

I use my wifi hotspot(stock app) regularly and I let my friends use it too. I sometimes I have people that I have no idea on my hotspot. I know I could make a password, but is there a way to be able to kick certain ip addresses off.
I wasn't sure where to post this thread, so I'll try here. I have zero signal in the building I work in. So I connect to my company's secure wifi network. I don't really browse any webpages while at work, but I use hangouts and use the wifi to send and receive messages. I don't want anyone seeing my conversations or any other data on my phone for that matter. I've read that network admins may possibly be able to read messages, emails, browsing history, view gallery etc. I'm new to all this, so I googled and it seems that a VPN might be what I'm looking for. Will this secure my phone and keep all of my information hidden and safe?
it's hard . as long as you connect to the wifi, the network admin has way to get your infomation
Services like Gmail or Hangouts are secure and IT admins will not be able to read your email/chats unless they're pro hackers and are really targeting you. Their firewall will probably have the capability to log browsing history though, but not go through your email/chat/pictures etc. If you use a VPN service on top of it, it becomes extremely hard to track your browsing, and your browsing history will also be private. In the eyes of your IT department you will only be having encrypted network traffic between your computer and the VPN service provider (you should choose a good VPN like Spotflux or Hotspot Shield - they are free and have premium versions with more features also). However, many/most company networks do not allow their users to use a private VPN service.
Lg V20 phone.
I'm not sure if I understand VPN correctly but if I do then using one will make use of open wifi network safer (at McDonalds etc)
I don't wish to go to blocked sites and I don't want to use vpn on LTE. I only want it for security on open wifi networks.
Is this possible. Can you suggest the best vpn in Playstore for use exclusively with wifi? Will it screw up anything else on my phone?
Thanks!

Yes. It is possible. Express VPN, torguard VPN, ivpn, snap VPN, VPN master is the best VPN for me. It not harmed to your android.
I read in a review of Opera VPN that you must give a locale other than USA. Is that true?Childish I suppose but I don't like to lie.
