Buyer's Remorse?

I'm not yet as in love with my MT4G as most people on here are. I'm coming over from an Evo 4G and I'm not liking the new phone much. I like typing on it better because it fits my hand better, but the lack of real estate (screen size) has me disappointed. I also really miss my touch-buttons at the bottoms instead of these manual hard buttons. I keep "touching" them and they don't do anything.. then I remember I have to PRESS them! LOL.
I've had two automatic reboots since yesterday, which has me concerned. A phone that reboots itself is usually a good candidate to send back, right?
And the speaker.... hasn't anyone noticed the speaker volume SUCKS. My Evo is a LOT louder and my wife's new Motorola Charm is like a foghorn! That Charm is the loudest handset I ever heard... but it has other problems like it won't find certain apps on the market that show up on every other phone! That is really weird.
And if you use an app to get rid of the screen lock (I hate screen locks and see no earthly use for them.... where did they come from?), which is No Lock, works great, except every button on the phone will turn it on!!!!! Without the NO LOCK app, only the trackpad and the power button will turn it on.
That said, I'll probably get used to it and like it fine with time... but both my wife and I had a hard time sending out text messages tonight and we had full bars. The messages kept getting bounced back saying they weren't able to be sent (although it turned out some of them did go, even though they said they didn't). I don't know what caused it, but I'm not liking TMO much with problems like that right off the bat. In a month I'll know if I'm keeping it or going to AT&T as they will be in town some time in December.
What do I like? Well, the screen has just the same sensitivity as my Evo... nobody makes a touch screen like HTC!!!! I love it.
And the Battery! Wow... what a battery saver this phone is. I had to put the 3500 mah Seidio battery on my Evo to make it through the day, but this one has been "up" for 15 hours with 30% left and heavy usage today. When I unplug my Evo, it drops 5%-8% in 5 minutes. This one went a couple hours on 100% with heavy usage before it started to drop. I thought the meter was whacko!

ok so u say u like that it fits in ur hand good but yet u complain that its to small? that makes no sense at all. but anyways the evo isnt a bad phone but when it comes to performance this mt4g kicks the evos ass with a 2nd gen snapdragon and 768mb ram vs evos 512mb ram and the evos 1st gen snapdragon. im not a fan of this htc sense to much but once we get gingerbread it should be good bye too htc sense, because its suppose to kill off all this third party bs that is over the stock android software. so far the only problem had with this phone is the white one would make creaking nosies a lot at the bottom so i took it back for the black one and so far so good. no problems yet. i came from an htc hd2 running the evos rom on it so i know how u feel with battery life, i had to get a extended battery for it as well but mine was only 2400mah. but u just gotta get use to this phone thought its a very good phone and has a lot of features to back it up.

Yes, it does make sense. I can complain about the screen being too small, but still like how it fits in my hand. I know, it's a trade-off. If it's going to fit your hand nice, then you HAVE to have a smaller screen. That said, a smaller screen, when in landscape, makes it easier to type without reaching for the keys. However, my son types in portrait mode, and the keys are a lot smaller. Also, I haven't noticed any difference in speed with the two processors, so that's a mute point (the only way you can tell is with the speed tests and they seldom relate to real-life work). I've watched movies and played games and I don't see any difference in speed. I was running the Evo with CM6, Fresh and Myn's Warm ROMs and loved them all. One other thing I forgot to mention is the fact that Tmo coverage, while it shows very good on a map, isn't great here. Our phones go to roaming too much. We don't have any good carriers in Carlsbad, NM. Sprint and Alltel are both having trouble and ATT isn't here yet, and TMO is spotty. That doesn't help me fall in love with the phone, that and the worrying about the automatic shut-downs and restart twice. It all makes me apprehensive about the whole deal.
I wouldn't put too much store in gingerbread getting rid of manufacturers look, feel, or apps. It will be like every other upgrade and we'll have to wait until each manufacturer customizes it for each phone and it will look and feel the same (as far as HTC sense goes). Htc isn't going to give up Sense in any update they release. If we get it on a ROM (and root our phones), then it's no different than any other ROM, you can get with or without sense.

well return the phone if ur having problems with it and they should take care of u, next the gingerbread i heard they where killing off all 3rd software and putting there own stuff in android 2.3 so there for htc sense and moto blur and stuff like that is not needed so lets hope that happens.

@s10shane, I might end up returning the phone. The girl I talked to (2nd line tech support) said they have never seen an MT4G do automatic reboots (and she has one, too) so she suggested I get rid of all installed apps for a few days and then add them back one at a time as she suspected an app was causing the shutdown. they are the same apps I had on my Evo, so I doubt if they are causing a shutdown, but they might be! I'm just reluctant to do it that way, not have a shutdown for a couple days, then after installing apps 1 at a time (and waiting how long before installing another one?) then one day it happens again. Since you never know when it's going to happen, it's going to be hard to pinpoint an app causing it because it's not something you can force and it happens so seldom. My other problem with them porting the sprint number to this still isn't resolved, which I'm peeved about because I need to send my sprint phone back before getting charged $500 for it (long story). My wife and I both have had text messages not go out (failed to send) and the tech support worked on that problem yesterday, but I think I've tracked it down to Chompsms and Handscent. When I use the stock app, they go out, but when I use the other two, about half the time they don't... WTF? This phone seems a little problematic to me so far, but with sprint and alltel having trouble here in town, I don't have any other carrier to turn to. I'm caught between a rock and hard place.

I have no idea what to do. I have followed all the experts advice regarding battery life and it has improved, but it is not even close to my HD2. I was really hoping one of the genius devs would have reworked the battery drivers by now. I say that because I have seen them work miracles before.
I use my phone for business and getting emails in a timely matter is also an issue.
So should I hang in and hope Gingerbread or Ice cream fixes the issues or are there deeper problems with this phone?
I am still strongly considering the Sensation. I am not concerned with the locked boot loader because I am a member of XDA and they always figure those things out. Kinda miss the larger screen and build quality of HTC.
Anyone else on the fence about this phone?

As long as I can remember I've wanted a phone with sense, now that I have a great phone, the allure of getting one with sense and having everything integrated the way the website shows is AWESOME!
I'm torn, because on one hand, there will be alot of great development for this phone, but on the other hand, I think, that I would much rather keep one of my phones stock, and let updates come naturally...

I think I might just return my G2X till the sensation comes out... I still have about 8 hours to make a decision though.

I've about had it with the issues that I am having.. Having returned one G2x for another, both are having the same problems. I have until Friday night to return - I may resort to borrowing an old flip phone until the Sensation comes out.
Random freezes - random reboots - random shutdowns - serious battery life inconsistencies...
What's worse - the same problems are happening with CyanogenMod too.

returning another g2x. i have 30 days so when the sensation comes out i will even exchange.

I ordered mine on the 20th so the day the phone was out in the store. I had to order mine online since i am a T-Mobile RSA. I have alittle screen bleed but not much. I will be doing exchanges until i get one with no bleed. Other wise i have had no problems at all. No reboots, lock ups, data problems, nothing the phone is rock solid. I love the phone. Every person that has come into my store with problems i have told them that T-Mobile is going to exchange this for you under the lifetime warranty if you have it for the life of you having the phone. So you have nothing to worry about. The phone is a great phone to have. Do the exchanges until you get a working one. I know i would do it until i did. Even if it meant doing it 100 times. Also my understanding is that sensation is going to be locked down which is the reason why Cyan did not want to get one but got the G2X. So if thats the case have fun trying to get a mods on the phone.

HTC's have a history of poor battery life. Sure you can mod, but then your hoping a dev can pull **** out of a hat for you...

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I have until Friday to return mine. Battery life was the main reason I got the g2x over the sensation, reasoning that htc usually has terrible battery life. However with all the current battery troubles, I'm not so sure I made the right choice. The most confusing thing is the reviews I read (cnet, bgr, engadget) all said the battery life was above average. Did they get different units or something? If the battery life isn't any better on the g2x, and if sense 3.0 isn't so terrible, other things like the qhd screen, more ram, and htc quality make the sensation pretttty appealing. Thoughts?

I really don't have problems with battery life at all. It lasts longer then my HTC Nexus One. I'm able to go from 8am-midnight under my normal usage of several calls, push emails, exchange, twitter widget, facebook widget, Weather widget, Kingdoms live and Word Feud, plus surfing and tweaking through out the day.
I really like the phone. My only gripe is the LCD backlight compared to the AMOLED, but I knew that going in.
HTC is locking their bootloaders like everyone else. Most phones with encrypted/signed bootloaders are still, to this day, locked down and unflashable.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 would be my second choice since the bootloader is unlocked and should be another one that is flashable. But we have absolutely no idea when it is coming out. I'm hearing September. It lacks the Tegra 2... which will burn as more and more Tegra 2 only games/apps start pouring in.
I say stay with the G2x. Aside from the backlight bleed, every other issue is just software. The Official Gingerbread rom will be out very soon and it should hopefully take care of more of our problems.
Aside from the Official build, we already have CM7 hot in the mix and I believe they will have the phone running great within a week or two.
If you are really worried about it, couldn't you just do a return... then pick up another one that has another 14 days?

I returned mine. I only purchased to give the network a try and see if it works for me as I am currently a Verizon customer... so I kinda had to return it regardless.
I'm going to wait it out a bit. I have a Fascinate, and coming from a Galaxy S series phone, this phone was *almost* a lateral switch. There are many advantages this phone has over the original Galaxy S series, but I felt like I needed more. Maybe it was the same 4" screen size?
Overall, it's a nice phone. Build quality is excellent and it functions very well. The reboot issues didn't bother me too much, but the fact that the issues were there really made me a bit uncomfortable. Coming from a Samsung phone that had wacky software, the last thing I wanted was another phone sharing some of the qualities I did not like - bad code.
I think LG is in a position to fix their mistakes and make this phone a contender for long term support. They just have to follow it with their 2.3 update properly... I.E. no bugs!!!

I agree... I am keeping mine personally... I think this next update to 2.3 will have a nice new batch of drivers, specifically the tegra2 drivers since nvidia are driver freaks so I expect a performance boost via drivers as well as some fixes from LG such as the battery...

which i just did. at first i thought i could deal with the bleeding in the top left corner, but now on CM7 with the black statusbar, it is extremely noticeable even with the dimmest brightness setting. so i caved in and am getting a replacement sent to me.
now i gotta unroot and go back to stock. and theres no guarantee that the replacement will be any better, but it cant get much worse than the bleed on mine. looking at all the pics i seem to have one of the worst on here.

I'm leaning towards keeping it. I purchased two of them and my wife's has been just fine. I had the random reboots and exchanged mine. The new one has virtully no bleed and the reboots are gone. For anyone suffering from random reboots/shutdowns and lock ups, please exchange it. I thought I was just being paranoid, but my first one really had a problem. The new one is running like a champ.
The Sensation is tempting, but having to deal with a locked phone does not sound very fun at all. I know they will hack the loader eventually, but I really dislike having to deal with ads.
Six months from now there will be something cooler than the Sensation or G2x.

I think a lot of people are giving a little too much credit to LG for the Gingerbread update being the "magic wand" that will fix everything. Sure, it could but the cure all, BUT, if they hosed things up in Froyo, who's to say they didn't do the same (OR WORSE!) in Gingerbread?

It's a coin toss at the moment as to whether it's going to fix the problem or stay the same...

Guys, it's really simple. I'm going to the tmobile store the day the Sensation is released, and if it gives me that Nexus One feel in hand, I'm throwing the g2x on Ebay.
That's really all there is to it. Just keep your G2X protected until that point. By that time you could have it rooted with a stable CM7 release, upping the price a bit more. If the Sensation is $499 off contract as rumored, you should be able to get close to that.

Also consider the 02X has the same problems and was out six months before they released the G2X.

An HTC T-Mobile rep confirmed the pricing and the 6/8 launch date on the Sensation forum. They've already scheduled a big pre-launch party on 6/6.

Still Impressed with my Inspire

After all this time...owned an Inspire for about 4 or 5 months now...I am still mightily impressed with my unrooted and completely stock Inspire. I was switching up between a few alternative launchers but after playing with a Sensation I decided to clean my Inspire up and return it to pure Sense goodness. I'm going to go on record and say the Desire HD/Inspire 4G is the best phone HTC ever made and the best phone currently available till the Sensation came out.
The previous best HTC phone, the HD2, held the "best" title for a long time but is now in second place to the Inspire. Anyone wise enough to buy an Inspire should feel highly proud of themselves and thankful to have such a wonderful device.

Yeah, I'm still very happy with my Inspire... granted I keep a second battery on me at all times but it's usually charging when in the car so I rarely need to swap it out. Got mine on Valentine's Day.
The only other phone I'm interested in is the Infuse because of the awesome screen but I love the HTC aluminum body.

I'm usually one to be looking for the next best phone as I generally upgrade two or three times a year. That said nothing is catching my eye and its mostly because my inspire has been rock solid.

The Inspire will really be put to the test tomorrow when I use it's GPS capabilities for a road trip I'm taking (With a car charger of course).

Just know that it'll likely get very warm, possibly hot to the touch when using GPS while being on the charger.

Use the charger when needed but not all the time. I made a 250 mile trip this past weekend w/out issue, GPS wise. Just don't leave it on the charger the whole time.

Ditto. The Inspire is ROCK solid.

The GPS, at least on mine, often takes a while to achieve a lock. Sometimes, it'll pick right up, sometimes, I'll get halfway to whereever I'm going before it picks up.

Same.still impressed. Loving touching this inspire. I was gonna select iPhone 4 but decided I wanted a phone that not too many people has around my area. feels like I'm the only one with inspire around in mmy school and friends. I feel cool!

I used mine on a 200 mile trip a few weeks back, worked flawlessly. I didn't have on the charger, never really do, try to run in down till almost dead than get a full charge. Longest is about 49 hours, shortest is about 18 hours

I also use the GPS function...through Google Maps and Nav...and find it flawless on this Inspire. I don't have any issue at all charging and using the nav. It may get a bit warm...to some, hot...but I've never encountered any issues on any other HTC phone I've used it that way.

currently to me the inspire can't be beat when you combine dev support, speed, display, camera, hackability, and assortment of rom's, the only thing thats not good is the battery but i have 4 so not a problem for me

I agree with everything you posted. If and when you decide to root, it's like getting a whole new phone. The dev support here is amazing.

I'm currently eligible for an upgrade and I'm currently sporting a Samsung Captivate. I'm still very interested in this phone because 2 people at work have it and they love it. The only thing is, is that I do miss my iPhone 3gs. I had an iPhone 4, but couldn't get a signal in my house with it to save my life, and the screen wouldn't turn off when I held it to my face while on a call. The Captivate has been an ok phone (it only took 3 replacements to get a stable one) but I'm still not totally sold on Android. I'm thinking I'm going to wait till September to see what Apple releases. But, if it's not impressive I'm going to go with an Inspire.

Wise plans. I have an iPhone 4 and can say that if it wasn't for my others phones, especially my beloved Inspire, I wouldn't be able to deal with the boredom of the iPhone. It is the best phone in the world for reliability and especially music playing, but it does need some serious refreshing and features.
I can also confirm, since I do own an Android phone, that the Inspire's version of Android is much better than iOS for features and smoothness. It so far has been just as reliable. But with all of the plethora of available customizations even for unrooted circumstances, combined with it's quality and smoothness, you would dearly love the Inspire.

My thoughts exactly on the Inspire and Infuse (I'm still glad I didn't wait to get the Infuse, though, because that would have been several months longer, and I'm not a patient person ).
As far as multiple batteries, I've never been in a situation where I needed one. This past weekend, I went on a float trip in an extremely rural area in the mountains of northern Arkansas, and despite me playing Final Fantasy III (VI) on the phone for a couple of hours beforehand, using the GPS navigation to find the float service's office (on a 2.5 hour trip), and the phone searching for a network all day, I came back after 7.5 hours, and the battery still had 20+ percent left. I also have a car charger, though, in the case that I need it.

all that i've seen on these threads are some of the issues with the sensation, i am one who really likes this phone. i guess every phone has its issues and a few bad apples, but this is by far the best i've tested so far. is there anyone else who likes this phone.

This is the best phone I've ever had. No problems at all......I'm coming from the Droid Incredible. Which was also best phone ever for me. Until now.

I love mine. I am on my second one due to a bad USB port but other than that its the best phone I've had.

OP: I'm glad you like the sensation.
The majority of the new purchaser haters, are kind of 'weak newcomers to the Smartphone ' genre.
They have to appreciate that the majority of these phones have faults. None so bad as the secondary MT4G screen, and even then some, none so bad as the N1 touchscreen, with still patriotic N1 followers such as myself .

I love the phone too I switched from evo 3d sprints data is terrible. Yea I had with evo random spurts of 12mbps but majority of the time I got the weak 500kbps on sprints weak 3g. Yes I live in a 4g area but its so spotty. I go 1 mile and have 4g then don't have it then have it and don't have it. When it switches from 4g to 3g the phone lost data for 20 seconds. Not worth ot. With tmob I consistently get 7mbps down and 1.5 up. No loss of data and same buttery smooth ui. Yes buttery smooth without a live wallpaper I have no lag issue in sense 3.0. This phone is sexy and a monster of a phone.

Now that my touchscreen is working, I say this is the best phone in the world

I just got mine over the weekend and love it so far. I came from a nexus one which was one of the best phones I ever had. Seems like it takes forever to charge though. Is that just me?

First one I had had a defect battery, took me a little 8 hours to charge(and about 4 hours with 2 hours display to completely drain). The one I have now charged in 5 hours before the FOTA, and somewhat around 4 hours after the FOTA. I also noticed that the battery of my first phone tended to get extremely hot, while this one gets a little warmer at well, but not at the battery but more at the bottom.
Also noticed change in batterylife, first phone as mentioned couldn't make it through the day, this one managed 20 on first charge-cycle, and now around 25 hours with medium use. (2,5 hours displaytime)

It would be a great phone, if they fixed the known issues. Luckily I don't have the touch screen issue, but I have death grip and lag. Death grip is hardware, and can only be fixed by a new back cover.

i love my phone's guts! and my 2 bff's who touched it loved it instantly and are selling their Desire and Galaxy to get this

Thanks to all for the POSITIVE feedback on the phone and to the OP for starting this. Yeah I guess most of us prefer to point out problems. I've had this phone on the radar for months now (since first announced) and as I'm due for an upgrade at the end of the month, I have been getting very nervous with all of the death grip, dust under screen, unresponsive screen posts etc. Since I definitely don't want to go the alternative duo core plastic route, it is good to see some positive experiences.

you need to put what you read on the forums into perspective...though there are people from all over the world here, we are a very small cross-section of the market - the geeks, the ones who would see a teeny issue and freak the fck out because we want DA BEST!!!!11
so 50 people have a problem, i very much doubt htc gives a crap!

This was my experience with Sprint too, and the main reason I didn't go with the Evo 3D. Sprint signal at my house is one bar on a good day, and every Sprint phone I've ever had has had problems just *connecting* to data. I had a Touch Pro 2 before I got my HD2 & I had to toggle airplane mode practically every few hours just to get the damn data to connect. I have full signal & full 4G with T-Mo, no data problems, and my speed is about 6-8mbps on a BAD day(and I've gotten up to 14 at times!).
Yes, this phone has it's share of problems but what phone doesn't? People will ***** about a negative before they gush about a positive, don't think that the Sensation is a POS because some people don't like it(which, IMO, user error/inexperience with smartphones in general is a big cause of). I absolutely love it. Great battery life, great sound, great screen, great speed, FANTASTIC camera, etc. It's a winner in my book.

This is true. I doubt the average consumer is worried about having an AUO or a Sharp panel, haha.

I love this phone! I'm coming from the tp2. I have the creek problem with the bottom right of my screen but honestly it doesnt bother me. I love the keyboard that it comes with and coming from the wonderful hardware keyboard on the tp2 I was a little worried about going all touchscreen but I've had no problems with it! Truely an amazing phone!

Every problem I had with my prior Sensations is gone now except for Sense reloads but I never see that from LauncherPro. Battery life is craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy on this new one! I go all day without recharging now. I can't even believe it. Used it all day yesterday and still had 37% 20 hours later. Took it off the charger today. Didn't use it for 8 hours and still at 100% even while receiving texts and emails. 13 hours later and some usage photos, G+, etc and 86%. Both other phones would have been dead by now.
I have an AUO panel now and it's great. I prefer the Sharp I had originally because the viewing angles seemed better.
Camera is fantastic with sharpness and saturation turned down.
Only probs I have are with Sense 3. Biggest bother is built in apps2sd feature telling me I dont have space on my sd card if i try to move more than a few at the same time. I don't really care much though. I have 90 something apps installed and 870mb free.
Almost forgot - my speaker is either a different component than the others or something. Maybe the default hardware settings are modified. Sounds much better than on the units I had to return. Don't have to use Volume+ at all.

First time writing here... hi all!
I've been reading these forums for month at least...checking SGS2 and Sensation. With all those troublesome posts I decided to bite the bullet and get myself HTC Sensation. Been using it for 2 days now and everything is working absolutely perfect, smooth and fast! No dust under screen, working flawless while unlocking in every possible situation (on the desk, on the floor, while charging, in my hands), no death grip no matter how hard i try though i can fell some small glitches while typing an sms or a message (maybe it's my sweaty fingers...it's horribly hot here)...but that's about it.
I asked the guy who sold me a phone if people are returning phones with anomalies or bad stuff happening but he answered (like we can believe that ) that they didnt have any of those big issues mentioned here. Guess we are lucky in Croatia
Not sure if phones were manufactured much precisely in the last weeks but this is really a fresh looking phone. Although I must mention there was no WOOOOOW factor as when I bought Desire last year (Maybe cos it was my first Android ).
Nevertheless I'm enjoying the phone and so far I'm glad that I didn't take SGS2 (didn't really fit in my hand, although it's faster and I'm not into gaming).

Just bought a Sensation - advice and tips?

I've had the G2 for a year now, I'm not due for an upgrade with Tmo until this time next year but I've been thinking about getting a better, faster phone for a little while now. Since I'm not purchasing through tmo I decided to surf ebay for a good deal and I narrowed my choice down to the sensation as the best quality for the money and just scored one for $275. Seemed like a good deal since most of them tend to go for over $300, was it?
It hasn't been delivered yet, but I've got a few questions for you all:
1. I have 30 days to return it. What issues should I look for?
2. Seems many have issues with the lack of battery, what is a realistic expectation for hours of use?
3. I've been using a version of CM on my G2 (mexdroid, best G2 rom I've found yet) and was wondering if there are any specific "favorite" cm7 based rom's here? I've tried a couple different Sense roms and never really liked any of them.
Any other tips or pieces of vital information y'all can give me would be great. This was a tough choice for me as there seem to be a lot of people who have issues with the sensation, but I'm hoping they are the loud minority. Thanks all for the help ahead of time, hope to become a regular on here as I don't plan on getting another phone for at least another year.

Its used but the eBay vendor offers a 30 day return policy. I definitely plan on rooting it but like I said I'd like to try out a cyanogen based from. I will definitely give yours a try though thank you for the link.

I was just reading about the newest update that started yesterday? It shouldn't make a difference that I bought this phone used and not through Tmobile, should it?

If you're into Cyanogenmod, you may want to look elsewhere. I love CM, I do, but the official CM rom is still in it's alpha stages, and while it runs "good", it doesn't feel like the 1.2Ghz dual core it's suppose to be. There's one or two CM-based roms. One is called HyperSensation, and it's really lightweight and fast, but again, it's based off an alpha.
There's still great development going on, and we're guaranteed ICS from either HTC or the devs (crossing fingers for CM9 nightlies), but if you're a CM faithful, this might not be your phone.
Edit: Also, you'll need either an Anker or Chichitec 1900 mAh battery, you'll have a hard time without it.

Got my Sensation XE 2 weeks ago and compared to my good old Hero I had before, I really like it. You'll definitely benefit from rooting it. Installing a custom ROM is worth it, but personally I would stick to Sense 3.0, runs better imo.

I have to agree with this poster and add these few things.
* (My experience) screen protectors don't fit snugly due to cured glass.
* A bit laggy
* My volume rocker fell off after 3monts and had to get the whole back replaced.
* Battery sucks, but if you (fork over more loot to) buy a higher capacity one it works fine.
My advice is to either get the Amaze or just wait until march/april when they will be rolling out an Ice Cream Sandwich phone for HTC. And to be fair, the phone is a "nice" phone, but it is not the best phone in its class spec wise.

Mine has been good for me and the price at 275 is decent -if your into cm7 well as stated before its still alpha and it looks like they are more focus on CM9 at this time to bad your not a big fan of sense as there are many good builds running sense with great battery life-the phone is barely 6 months old here so there is much to come and yes it is on the list to get an OTA of the ICS
DUST under the screen and the power button issue are all I have faced I would check it before I do anything with a black background under sunlight to see if the are any specs in it
Mexdroid kicks ass for sure I have a friend running that on his nothing like that over here sad to say

For the money, that seems like a great deal. And you should get the OTA update as long as it's a valid ROM. I have flashed through about 6 different ROM's for the Sensation and settled on the InsertCoins one. Quick and easy, but still has Sense goodies I tend to like. Rooting it is EZ, and hardware should keep it viable for a while. You should enjoy this device!

there are very big differences, spec wise with the phones. the top three are:
1. the Amaze has 16 gig memory on board whereas the Sensation only comes with 8 gig card. If you listen to music and watch movies like me that is huge.
2. the Amaze has a full gig of RAM whereas the Sensation only has 768. The standard for most high end smartphones is 1 gig and it does make a difference speed wise.
3. Last, but definitely not least, since most complaints about phones have to do with battery life, the Amaze has almost 200 more mA than the Sensation.
You can scratch my original reasons, those were just the tip of the iceberg, these are the reasons why I would steer people away from the phone.
HOWEVER, you already got it so its water under the bridge, enjoy my friend. Just wanted to clarify.
With regards to ICS, yes, from my understanding the Sensation will get it in four to five months. However, by that time, HTC and other companies will already have phones that will be made with it. I have an upgrade due to me in march so I will hold out and wait to see what the offerings are come June. I am sure that the ICS upgrade will work fine on the sensation, but if the are getting rid of buttons and overhauling the whole thing then I want the full experience.

Vibrant to Sensation
Prior to my Sensation I had a Samsung Vibrant rooted with CM7. Once I arrived on the Sensation forum it was evident the Sense Roms were by far the most used.
I have been using Android Revolution HD 4.1.8 Sense 3.5 (the latest) and I have never looked back. I recommend that you at least try one of these great Roms from a fantastic developer.

This is a decent one to start with... Some problems with gps (it takes a while to lock) and it is actually no longer supported by the developer... However, i still use it often, and its pretty slick. I would at least check it out if I were you.

Well, I've had my sensation for a day now, so far so good. Even though it's used it has a perfect screen, believe me I examined it thoroughly and couldn't find anything wrong with it. How long does the "dust under screen" issue generally take?
Also, so far so good as far as power button goes but it is going to take some time to get used to not having a trackpad to wake the phone. The speaker is equivalent if not a little better than my G2's, and compared to my OC'd G2 (usually had it around 1.4) it's faster in stock form.
I haven't rooted it yet, I'm going to use it for a month before I do that. From what I've read it seems most of you generally OC it to around 1.5?
I have a case on the way, it is definitely skinnier than the G2 and my big clumsy hands have a little trouble holding on to it so the case will be a definite improvement. For those of you who have a case on, have you noticed any decline in signal strength or gps?
As for my update question earlier, I shouldn't have worried. Within 10 minutes of putting my sim card in and turning it on I received the update to 1.50 (the latest one, right?) and it successfully installed with no issues. I still need to read up on what that update brought with it, but was one of the things a newer radio?
Sense is growing on me, for the past week I've been using my G2 with a sense 2.1 rom, so I haven't ruled that out for a DD for my sensation. I'm going to try out several different ones but I'll probably start out with Revolution and maybe Hypernosense and go from there.
Appreciate all the help, you and the G2 people are pretty nice. Seems like some of the forums have some angry people in them, it'd be an interesting sociological study to see the personalities and ages of various people matched with various phones.

advice: return it
i don't mean to be a party pooper, but return it while you can. get the SG2. i have one HTC sensation and the screen doesn't work anymore.it just turns on and that's about it. the Volume, another chapter entirely. works when it feels like. i have tried the ground contact thing, no luck. its a horrible phone. basically wasted £275 on it.

I don't mind it dude, the phone works well for me, has no dust or other issues, AHD Rom, MX video player works, calls are nice n clear, backstab hd works and music sounds good on my bose mie2 headphones.
Battery can be better, but I have a dock and 2 extra Anker batts off ebay for 30quid.

Re: a couple of things from your last post
The dust under the screen thing doesn't have to happen if you buy a case that covers the volume rocker. I use a plain jane Incipio case and it's served me well. No dust under the screen and since it's a little stiff it buffers the power button a little... hence the double press issue just doesn't happen to me unless I take the case off. Plus it's made of this odd rubbery compound stuff, so it bounces off of the floor nicely.
A lot of people OC to 1.5. Or you could do the complete opposite, dump the laggy Sense launcher and just underclock instead. I run my Sensation at 972 MHz with DX Launcher as default and it's great. Helps a lot with battery life for daily use.
1.50 update does not contain a new radio AFAIK.
When you're ready, look into custom kernels and undervolt as far as your phone can handle. Your battery will love you for it.
