Version 6 dropped today. Any idea when the captivate will be supported?

Not till someone ports it. Most likely a dev here will have to.

It'll be supported in CM 6.1
I have a feeling it will be after official release of froyo on galaxy s. I bet it just too much work. They prob working on prep work for cm6 for galaxy s. After the official release they will do what's be necessary.

Hey gang. I was wondering if there was any news on this?
I have a noob question I apologize. now that the nexus s 4g is out are we closer to getting gingerbread? This is the only phone out that doesn't have a GB rom which is lame

The radio is different... Cdma with sprint. At&t has a new samsung 4g out, tho. Maybe this will speed things up? ( ur prob going to get flamed for ths post, btw.)

The only reason you would get flamed is if you posted this in the development section. Good job you posted your question in the right section.
According to Samsung they are rolling out the GB update to handsets in Europe (Galaxy S I9000) and based on their "Regional Plan" everyone else will be getting it as well.
That's a vague as it comes, but that's the latest from good 'ol samsung.
Oh cool thanks I was just wondering because before I bought this phone I was gonna get the nexus S but I wanted 4g so I got this but been hoping for a gingerbread rom I mean every other phone has it except this one wich is kinda gay

im a little naive when it comes to GB and havent read up on it. But, I was wondering what so good about a GB Rom? I would think people would want more Custom Roms than a samsung release.
would anyone like to share the differences between Froyo and GB?

Dude as soon as 2.4 comes out, all we'll hear is about is ICS. GB? Almost like the droid's 2.0 release... Well, almost.

Gingerbread's biggest plus is that it's got far better battery optimzation than Froyo.
In an attempt to compare apples to apples - Froyo Battery Life on my SGS4G and a 3500mAh battery is about 2 days.
In comparison, a MyTouch 4G on a 1400mAh battery and Gingerbread is about 2 days.
Both are used similarly.
Sgyee, mt4g battery life on gb is not 2 days its the reason i kept thesgs4gand gace the mt4g to my gf. Mt4g w upgraded battery to 1500 mah and not much use (few calls and texts) with set cpu running on demand is about 11hours. Thats w newest gb build, kernal and radio. The sgs4g battery tho 1650 mah is alot better w more use.
Switched from the Atrix 4G, and had it unlocked and GB 2.3.4 on it.. Hopefully will be getting my Infuse this upcoming week. USPS missent the package to the wrong post office and all that mess. Can't wait to see GB on this amazing device!
Hopefully we will have att gb by then

Or just compile a cm7 build. That's what I am running at the moment and it screams. GtG has a beatiful GB rom also, a bit more stable than cyanogen, only thing it lacks is HDMI out.
You wont be disappointed, the infuse is a beast, both display wise and performance. Easily the best and most fun phone I ever had. We have some awesome development too, very thorough, and deliver solid results, no monkey business going on in our development community.

Is there anything about 4.0 ICS that would help improve battery life?
I am running 4.0.3 on my Iconia and I love it!! Looking forward to seeing this on my TB and hopefully soon, my VZY Galaxy Note.

This is the first I've heard of that! Thanks for dropping that in =P my thunderbolt should tie me over till it comes out, especially if the ics update isn't too late =D
thunderbolt will run with full potential on ics
My moneys on the only ICS thunderbolt will be a rooted one. My money is also on the only successful roms being ports from the rezound.
and we'll see it actually approved by verizon sometime in november. By that time, no one will care.
I'm locked in till next March so ill be waiting till then for ics

Stuck in contract till the end of December. But I love this phone for some reason.
I'm locked till Feb so I'm hoping to see it for the tbolt before then! (Remember, I'm HOPING )
Even if it takes Verizon until December, there will undoubtedly be build leaks in the interim that the devs can work their magic on.

I agree. Any leak will be huge to the development of ICS for the Thunderbolt.

Yep it's confirmed this phone will get ICS but no ETA on it..as for the OP's question it is more than possible to mod their ICS and use it for this phone
ICS comes out Monday. I'm excited all over again

Monday is GSII. No date yet for the Blaze 4G. Do you think we will get the new touchwiz? Probably not, but that would be awesome if we are. Hopefully there's a port for it that works on our device someday.

I would hope so, seems like Samsung would push it to the GS II and cookie cutter everyone else.

Cool let me know I actually just got the s2 from a friend for 150 and no contract i couldn't pass it up lol
I just moved to one of these from a HTC Incredible I've been running ICS on since January and I have to say, it's hard to go back to GB, but the phone is just so much better and it's the only sub 4" phone that has a dual core procesor and is reasonably priced out of contract. Anyways, hoping for ICS sooner rather than later!
ICS will be out tonight for the Galaxy S 2 ...Anyone here how long it will be until the Blaze is updated to ICS?
http://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-3029
"Samsung and T-Mobile plan to release a software update for the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G that updates the device software to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The dates for this future update are TBD, but this document will be updated when details become available."
Hope to see this updated soon!

I'm looking forward for the source to drop. Since the T989 uses the same general chipsets we do, I'm hoping the source will build and work for our phones (with a little coercion). It's amazing how little official msm8660 stuff there is out there.
I swear, finding source, info, etc on this stupid little phone has been a labor of love, and I run into dead ends everywhere I go :-(

That's a shame, considering this phones spec sheet you'd think there would be something out there.
