Anyone know how to fully root a samsung continuum without bricking it?? Please need help!
Download and install most recent drivers, download superoneclick v1.9, (and extract it from Zip) if you dont extract it wont work. and use superoneclick, if you install the busybox, you'll have to restart the phone, but it will berooted. all you have to do is enable debugging on the phone, plug it in, and hit root on superoneclick. Has worked 3 times for me.

ok so i rooted my phone using the superoneclick method and and installed CWM with rom manager and everything was fine but then when i tried flashing gingerclone v2 by ayoteddy the phone just got stock on the part that says t - mobile sidekick 4g ect. and i cant even enter recovery mode manually! what can i do? help please did i bricked my phone =/??
More than likely you've softbricked your phone. Follow the steps here to ODIN your phone back to stock. Once you get your phone up again, root again.
The CWM from Rom Manager doesn't seem to work on the SK. You're gonna need to do some manual file moving to make it work. Follow the steps here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124453
Once you've moved these files, you need to manually get into recovery mode (Power+volume). Click reinstall packages and you should be in CWM. From here, just follow the flashing instructions and you should be golden. Make sure you check your mounts...
If Odin doesn't work Try using Heimdall which is a lot simpler no extra files to download just make sure you have java installed an heimdall will ask you about installing drivers, tried this out on my phone for the hell of it an it worked fine. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350060
Much Like CF-Autoroot, this process is VERY easy. It requires 3 files. ODIN, a Custom Recovery(TWRP), and the superuser zip ill provide. To do the process just follow there steps and youll gain root.
NOTICE!!! I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ISSUES YOU HAVE! FOLLOW THESE STEPS AND YOULL BE OKAY! I have not tested this on any other phone except a SPRINT Galaxy S3. Testers Welcome. If you brick, PM and i will post a process to get your phone back
1) Plug your phone into your PC, via usb. Download any drivers needed!
2) Open the root of your phone, and copy the superuser zip onto the root of your phone.
3) Once you have the superuser zip copied onto your device, disconnect and boot up into download mode(VolDWN+HOME+power)
4) Start ODIN on your computer, and click PDA, navigate to where you saved the Custom Recovery. And load it, make sure re partion IS NOT checked, and also uncheck AUTO REBOOT!
5) Start ODIN and wait until you see PASS at the top left of the screen with a GREEN background. Unplug device.
6) Now, boot into recovery by holding VolUP+HOME+POWER. After the first viberate release the power and continue holding home and volume up. Your phone will boot into TWRP Recovery.
7) Go to INSTALL, and navigate until you find Superuser zip. Install it. And reboot.
CONGRATS! You now have a rooted Galaxy S3[/COLOR]
So I have tried almost all the rooting guides in the internet, from one click apk's, one click pc apps. And had no luck. I have tried flashing CWM using SP flash tool and MTK droid tools but when I flash it, it doesnt change the recovery. Psneuter doesnt work either, it just says "Failed to set prot mask (Inappropriate ioctl for device)".
.
.
Oh btw Ragnarok Onlineath of heroes doesnt let me play, it detects that my phone is rooted? I run Root Checker but it says it is not rooted. Hmm.
.
.
My device i think is china phone because all the manuals and the words on the charger is Chinese. (also the stock recovery)

I used unlockroot and I got the Root Shell but it isnt fully rooted yet. I tried mounting /system to rw but it says, "read-only file system", i cant push su/busybox to /system. Anyone know what can I do?
Try Kingroot apk.
Unfortunately, I already tried kingroot (also the desktop ver.), tbh, I tried it again and it didnt work. I tried both Version 4.1 and 4.52 apk's
---------------------------------------
That aside, I can now access CWM through MTK Droid tools. But I have no idea what to do next...... Anyone can tell me?
I tried flashing Supersu flashable zip but nothing happenned. I'll try it once more, with another version just to make sure. I'll surely update this thread by then.
Oh wait. Im thinking of doing a factory reset cos I might have done a wrong move causing my device to be hard to root. And Im sorry for being a noob at this >_<
The fastest way through BaiduRoot
BaiduRoot didn't work too. Though I only used the desktop version, cos the apk wont install, it says "parsing error", I redownloaded it too, to be sure its not a broken download.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Btw, I done factory reset now, but nothing really worked. I reflashed flashable zip of supersu, it completes, but no supersu appears, I used ver.2.52... I'm losing hope now. Someone pls..
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
supersu asks to update binaries, when I choose CWM/TWRP, nothing happens, it doesnt go to recovery/cwm. when i choose normal recovery, it just closes.

try vroot.
what is your firmware version? custom recovery stand?
vroot says "root successed", i reboot, and it is still not rooted (by root checker) same as desktop version.
I'm not sure what's the firmware ver.
this?

custom recovery, I used MTK droid tools + SP flash tool (readback) to generate a CWM for my device. I cant access it via VolUp key+power though. I can only access via MTK droid tools.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
by vroot, i meant iroot. or should I try vroot? (lower version?)
press both keys volume and power button on the device - what would go custom recovery
---------- Post added at 10:11 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:06 AM ----------
on the forum 4pda root receive through BaiduRoot 4.2.7
Baidu root apk did not work, says root failed and I used desktop baidu root, it didnt work either.
When I press both volume key and power button, it goes to stock recovery(it is in chinese). I could only go to custom recovery (CWM) via MTK Droid Tools. (reboot button>...into recovery)
sew firmware through Flashtool
instruction in Russian
Thank you! I flashed it just now. And it worked!
But one last question. I can't connect on my VPN app, Psiphon. It doesn't ask for permission, there's no "trust this app" popup. Though I can connect through force root Tunnel. Before I flashed, it was working. Thanks again.

I flashed another ROM, I think that ROM has a bug on VPN dialog.
Installing CWM Recovery + Rooting Samsung Galaxy J7 prime ( SM-G610F/SM-G610M )
Tested & WorkingKnow Issue
SDCARD & EXTSDCARD not mounting in CWM ( Not being able to flash/install ZIPs )
FixI suggest you to Install zip using sideload, here's a step by step guide :
First boot up your phone into CWM recovery
Go to Install zip update package and select Install zip from sideload
Now connect your android device to your computer
Download this and extract it.
Open command prompt in the ADB folder (mfastboot-v2 folder) by right clicking in the empty space of the folder while holding the Shift key.
Copy the Zip file you want to install on your device to the ADB folder, for example Xposed.zip.
Run the following command to sideload zip to your phone : adb sideload <filename.Zip>
Example adb sideload Xposed.zip
Voila! That's how you can flash Zip files
First Part: Installing CWM Recovery
NOTE BEFORE
Please make sure to follow the guide carefully and thoroughly as i won't be responsible for any damages caused to your device and also keep in mind that rooting your phone will automatically void your warranty.
MUST READ
Before you start, please note that this root has only been tested on the SM-G610F and SM-G610M variants of the Samsung Galaxy J7 prime, so kindly check your phone's variant before proceeding.(Check the back of your device)
Required Files:
CWM & ROOT
Samsung USB Driver
ADB USB Driver
How to install CWM Recovery
After downloading the required files make sure your system has an active Samsung USB Driver or you can simply download it from here
Also don't forget to Enable USB Debugging & Unlock OEM, this can be done by going to Developer Options and make sure to have these 2 boxes checked.
Then go to Lockscreen and Security under Settings and enable Unknown Sources.
With these done we are ready to kick-off!
Step by Step Instructions
STEP 1 : Connect your phone to your computer & Allow access to your device when the MTP Connection box pops up
STEP 2 : Now go to the ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder ( you will need to extract the rar file) you just downloaded and run 1-EnterDownloadMode.bat
STEP 3 : Wait for the phone to reboot into Download Mode ( If nothing happens after running 1-EnterDownloadMode.bat then you might need to disconnect and reconnect your USB cable and Allow USB Debugging (Check Always allow from this computer) when it prompts you. With this done, your device should automatically reboot into Downloading Mode.
STEP 4 : In Downloading Mode Run Odinv3.10.7.exe (Found in ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder) and click on AP and open
SM-G610_cwm.tar from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder
After this go to Options in Odinv3.10.7.exe and uncheck both Auto Reboot & F Reset Time and finally click on start to execute the installation of CWM recovery. Wait for it to finish (When it says 'PASS!') and after that press and hold the Volume Down, Power and Home Button together ( To get out of download Mode ) and when you see the phone gets rebooted press and hold Volume Up, Power button and Home button to boot into CWM Recovery
STEP 5 : Enjoy! You now have CWM recovery installed
Second Part: Installing SuperSU
MUST READ
Use Volume buttons and power button in CWM Recovery to navigate through and select the different options.
How to Root
STEP 1 : In CWM Recovery, go to install zip package and then select install zip from sideload.
At this point you will have to connect your device to your computer and once done run ROOT.bat from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder and wait for it to finish.
STEP 2 : Now run 3-Reboot.bat from ROOT J7 PRIME(2016) folder and you should see your phone get rebooted.
STEP 3 : Enjoy! You have just rooted your phone!
If you want to flash the stock recovery just repeat the steps for installing CWM but select SM-G610F_stock_recovery.tar or
SM-G610M_stock_recovery.tar instead of SM-G610_cwm.tar
P.S You now have a voided warranty
Cheers!

Just repeat all the steps from the beginning and see if it works..
Btw you are supposed to boot into Downloading mode and from there flash CWM Recovery using Odin..i don't know what you have missed.
I'm looking to root a Samsung Galazy Core LTE SM-G386W phone. The reason for rooting is because all the pictures were deleted from the phone and the recovery app needs root access. I would prefer to use a one click root app like Kingoroot but after looking at reviews on this website it appears some users had additional applications installed that they didn't approve. Preferably, I would like to use a one click rooting app or a similar desktop version. I've read that unlocking a bootloader would wipe all the data from the phone and possibly make the already deleted picture irretrievable. If need be, I don't mind using Kingoroot to root the device, retrieve the pictures, and do a fresh install of the OS. But if this is the case, I will need to know the correct steps to take to create a recovery image and how to perform the actual recovery. Looking forward to hearing the best way to proceed.
Device Details
Model: SM-G386W
Android Version: 4.4.2
You can try Kingoroot or Kingroot, if doesnt work, you will need to install a custom recovery and flash Magisk Manager which is better than SuperSu. But to do a recovery image you NEED a custom recovery.
To install it you will have to download the md5 file from the website, in this case, TWRP, download odin 3 from its website too, with the phone turned off we press the power key, the home key and the volume down key and press continue afterwards. we open odin 3 we check the AP box and look for the md5 file, connect the phone via usb (with the samsung drivers installed) and press start.
If you need to ask another thing i´m here.
Sorry for my horrible english, isnt my first language

Is there a way to create a full backup of the phone (NANDroid backup) without having root access? I don't want to use Kingoroot or KingRoot without making a recovery image first as it might put a virus on the phone.
Alternatively, is there a safe way (no adware or malware) to root a phone without unlocking the bootloader? I can't seem to find out if Magisk Root, Framaroot, Towelroot, or CF-Auto-Root require an unlocked bootloader for root?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
