I am wondering if there is a fix for this and am completely puzzled why Samsung and/or Google took this feature away on the Nexus...
So I threw in a couple of custom ringtones into my media/audio/ringtones folder in the Nexus S but noticed that the phone wouldn't loop the ringtones! Its rather annoying having it ring just once and stop. I understand there's programs that will loop the mp3 file a couple of times before I throw it in the folder but come on...that process shouldn't even be necessary...
Really weird...
Awesome ringtone included.
i saw a thread about it, but i guess only 4g devices were affected. as far as i remember, in that thread a sollution was not found, the OP just created a custom ringtone that loop by itself! =o)
Could just get a mp3 trimmer, make it last as long as it rings.
I have an nsg4, don't have this problem, might want to call your service support.

Waaaait a minute...you're saying that your custom ringtones loops without a problem? Even if you put it in the media/audio/ringtones folder???

I just saved audio clips from pic messages, looked in ringtones and they were there. But considering these models arnt consistent as far as functioning, might just be a glitch in my phone. Try getting a ringtone maker that has options for loop, and access your audio files through the app.
Like i said, might just be a glitch in my phone.

I feel like I can be helpful for once. It will loop ringtones if you convert the mp3 to OGG format, and in the file info (you can edit this in Winamp for example), create a field called ANDROID_LOOP and set the value to TRUE.
Have a NS4G. Looping the instrumental from Yeah3X as current ringtone.

I found a way around this. Download Ringdroid from the market. It let's you take songs or sound clips and make them into ringtones & such for your phone. Open whatever you want in that app then save it as a notification not a ringtone.

Did you install it via Titanium backup? or straight from the market?
I've been using zedge since my captivate, and now on my inspire with no issues. Have quite a lot of notification sounds in use right now I've gotten from Zedge.

How would I install titanium backup ? the ringdroid work good to now that I figure it out.
Keep an eye on that Zedge. This morning I was going through my SD card while plugged into my laptop and noticed that Zedge had created for itself a cache folder that was just over 185MB and contained over 5,000 files. That's a bit excessive for a wallpaper/sound app, in my opinion.

Hello all. I bought a new sprint nexus s 4g for my wife(rescuing her from her blackberry)and the problem is that all her ringtones and notifications are so quiet she misses calls and texts. She is not interested in rooting her phone, any suggestions on what I can do to make her tones louder?
Any suggestions?

on certain tones, ive increased the gain on the files with audacity. then copy them to usb storage. folders on root called ringtones and notifications.
Thanks for the quick reply, does the phone have to have root to use this method?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
nah. just mount usb storage, create folders, named ringtones, notifications. then modify the sound sound files with audacity. export as mp3. then drag and drop them to the appropriate folders.
Thanks.

I'm looking at redoing the whole project Linda. Same voice just different words. Let me know what you all would want to hear Linda saying when you receive a text, im, email, phone call, startup sound, ect. Once I get a good enough idea of what everyone wants I'll create a flashable zip

The original is a couple of threads down from this one. I'll link to it. The original was designed for the Vibrant but most of the sounds work for the SGS4g and was created for Froyo. I'd design this one for to GB.

I'll start working on this very soon. Just started my new network engineering job so I don't have as much free time as I had. I'm looking for a good statement for the startup sound. Anyone got one?
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
I never liked the shutdown sound with the old package and always used the shutdown from ravers bump in the trunk room she said "galaxy system shut Dow n initiated systems offline" or something. Do an inversion like"startup sequence initiated systems online". I also wish the notifications were shorter. Do "incoming text", incoming (whatever)" and do one for a generic/default notification the old one lacked that. Not trying to be picky but you asked for suggestions. Like I said Linda can say whatever she wants

A linda project for GB roms would be AWESOME!!!!! Linda instead of bootloader sounds, and for notifications....this would be awesome. My girl calls my phone Linda, it's kinda jealous of the time i spend on the computer, messing with my phone, but mostly a joke....This would be GREAT!!!
AWESOME!!! I took the ZIP and unzipped it. Then I Replaced the files in my system using the root explorer, with the files in the "Linda.zip" folder, and vioala!!!!
Now, if anyone knows how I can add audio to the boot animation,I have read a ton of posts through searching to no avail let me know...
also this is the voice of the computer "Vicki" from IRobot. How can I get this voice, and manipulate it for a boot animation phrase?
It's called PowerOn.wav . make sure the size its equal to or less than the original and the quality level is exactly the same or it won't work.

He added some special effects to the Linda voice that I'm trying to mock but I can't get the reverb to sound good like he did, the plain "Old-Robot Linda" voice sounds like crap without any reverb to it.

I am wondering if it is possible for me to get all the ringtones from my former Nexus S 4G for use on my Galaxy Note. I had over six notification noises for people and emails and it would make life easier if I didn't have to get used to new noises all over again.
tl;dr Can I get the stock Nexus S ringtones on my ATT Galaxy Note?
If yes, can someone get them to me?
Thank you.

How exactly do you get the ringtones from the ROM? Do you mean you downloaded the factory images and extracted it from that? or from the actual Nexus S phone? If so how would I do that? I have a Nexus S GSM phone and I wanted to pull off some of the notifications from that phone.
Thanks in advanced.

You have root explorer or smth like that, later copy /system/media/ringtones also notifications to your pc than plug another android phone you want copy those files to your sdcard and after that use file manager again and put them back to the new phone later set permisson and reboot. this is what i do always.
Any ringtone we make for my gfs skyrocket doesn't work. Just a loud crackle. We are using ringdroid. Os there something we need ti do to get them to work. Normal ringtones work except ones we make. I am a moto guy atm myself so samsung is new ti me. If I am missing something let ne know. Thanks.

Noone? I imported using ringdroid the same way I do on my bionic but the songs just play a loud scratch sound for less than a second and then stop. The phone is brand new just about. I rooted it and installed a few apps but I am not sure what would be causing the problem.
I guess this is an isolated problem I am having

For anyone that gives a damn, the issue was that ringdroid was moving the ringtones to anonline unknown location, possibly a read only folder, which was glitching bad on playback (it wouldn't). The fix was to for into my sd card and go to the media--> audio-> ringtones folder and place them there. What a pita, is there a way to make ringdroid send my ringtones to this folder instead?

Juicy I am having the same problem. I'm a little bit of a newbie with the Skyrocket. Would you mind going into detail about how to fix it? Myxer and Ringdroid do the same thing.
Zedge doesn't have that problem.

In regards to sammy phones, I believe ringtones go to system>media>ringtones/notifications/alarms/video folder.
CM10 is like this as I'm pretty sure TW is as well.
