[Q] Connecting a keyboard and 3g stick to a hannspree sn10t1 tablet - General Questions and Answers

I have a hannspree sn10t1 tablet.
The tablet does not have a usb port but does have a miniUSB port.
So i wanted to connect a keyboard to it ( i got a tablet case with a keyboard in it) and got a usb adapter as well.
But it seems its not working.
At fist i thought that the adapter was defective, but i got a second one and it still does not work.
What can i do?
I tried connecting different stuff on the sub adapter and it does not show anywhere anything pointing out that there is something on usb connected.
I want to use a 3g stick as well.
What is wrong ?
Is it the software or the hardware?

Same problem
Hi,
I have the same problem.
Did you manage to get this sorted?
Thanks
James

[Q] Help with USB Host (OTG)

Hi All,
I'm trying to get a USB device connected to my phone (specifically an OBDII reader with Torque Pro). No matter what I do, I can't get it to recognize on my Nexus S 4g. When I run USB Host Diagnostics, it basically says it can't find anything.
I'm running a flavor of Cyanogen 10 with its stock kernal.
My questions are:
Do I need to go through a powered USB hub to get the proper power?
Do I need a specific kernel with the correct host modules enabled? (if so, can someone point me to one)
Thanks,
Torque Pro worked fine with my NS4G with a cheap ebay bluetooth adapter with no hassle. That adapter had no batteries at all, it was powered through the ALDL port on the car. I couldn't imagine needing power since no scanner I know of needs power at the ALDL port, it pulls it from the port itself. I would bet it is USB driver problems, or problems reading the USB adapter through Jellybean because of this new MTP protocol that sucks
Good to know.
Should I try a HoneyComb ROM? I guess it COULD be the OTG cable I got from amazon. Maybe it's not plugging in all the way.
thx

No Honeycomb roms for Nexus S...
I highly suggest a OBDII bluetooth adapter. They're 15$ on the net and will spare you the trouble. Make sure you find one that has good reviews, some cheap ones have problem connecting to some cars because of broken J1850 PWM (i think it's PWM, might be VPW) protocol.

[Q] Using USB connection to console into devices on iRulu 10.1 tablet

I need help... I am new to Android tablets and operating systems so I apologize if I don't give enough information right from the start and if I am asking too simple of a question. I recently purchased an iRulu 10.1" tablet. I am very happy with it since it does what I purchased it for with one exception... I wanted to use one of the USB ports to connect my USB to 9 pin serial adapter so that I can console into different devices we use at my work. Both ports work since I am able to plug in a mouse or keyboard and both function, but the USB dongle I use on my laptop will not even be recognized on the tablet... Someone please tell me what I am missing. Is it a driver? New USB adapter? Some app? I've tried a few solutions and they have not yielded any positive results. I have installed a couple of apps and they don't even recognize the adapter as being connected. Thank you for any and all assistance!!
Noe
I wouldn't expect a usb dongle to work because I don't believe any of the Irulu devices have bluetooth capability from what I understand. I don't know for sure though since I am new to this device. I just got one (Model#: AN101 AllWinner A10 CPU) myself on Thursday and doing the research trying to flash JellyBean onto it for now.
Mine came with it's own USB keyboard/stand combo so I don't expect to need a BT keyboard but they are so nice you never can tell what I may want once I get JB on here.
I just figured I'd post to keep this thread alive for ya and input. Good luck

Trying to get PadTv TDH601 to work with TF300T

Hello all,
I just recently bought a PadTv TDH601 mini USB dongle so that I can watch TV on my smartphone or tablet. It works like a charm on my phone! I bought a mini USB adapter for my TF300 tablet and it recognizes when I plug in the dongle and that's it! I start to search for channels just like I did on my smartphone and it finds nothing. I do not believe that the dongle is fully communicating with the tablet. ASUS customer support is of no help at all with this issue. Has anyone here tried and succeeded to get the PadTv dongle to work with the tablet?

First of all, I have never tried that stick. USB access is possible only over the dock. That means the tablet has to be docked on. This way I did try to get running a data stick from my telephone provider without any result. The stick wasn't able to communicate fully with the tablet. What do you think about downloading of one of the many "Life TV Apps" the Play Store offers?

Thanks, but those apps do not give me what the PadTv dongle does. PadTv gives me live local channels, the apps you are talking about give me channels from other countries which I am not interested in watching.

Does the Verizon S6 support USB OTG?

Online I've seen people using a USB OTG cable on the Samsung Galaxy S6 but when I try to do so on a Verizon model it does not respond to keyboard or mouse input.
Has anyone else tried to use USB OTG?
I used my OTG cable to hook my verizon s6 to my external hard drive last week. Everything worked fine. Check your language and input setting maybe?
Well the problem is that there is no response at all. For example when I connect the mouse to another phone via the cable the mouse light turns on, connecting it to the S6 does nothing.
Are you on 6.0.1 as well?
I am currently on 6.0.1. The other thing to check would be the usb options in the notification area when you plug it in, if that shows up.
That's what I'm hoping for as well but nothing shows up, very odd.
Have you tried using your OTG cable on another device? Or using another peripheral? Do you plug in your device to charge it? I'm just trying to think of all the possible things that could be awry.
Well so it worked fine on a Moto G and X and I had only tried a keyboard and a mouse. I've now tried a USB stick and it suddenly works on my Galaxy S6 as well. Keyboard and mouse now suddenly work as wel... I'm starting to think it must have been a loose connection due to my phone case or something cus I can not think of any other explanation as to why it suddenly started working. Regardless, thanks for your help!

Sm-t580 usb otg?

Hello,
I have a SM-T580 with Android 7.0 that is working well. However I would like to connect a thumb drive or other peripherals.
I have tried with two different ONTG cables, but the device refuses to recognize or even power anything.
Am wondering if I am missing something here.
Anybody successfully using one of these in USB host mode?
Thanks,
Pete

I bought a SM-T580 this weekend and took it into work. My previous tablet as an Acer B3-A20 Iconia 10. I used an OTG cable from Best Buy to connect an HP wireless keyboard & mouse combo on the Acer. Today, I tried it with the SM-T580 and it worked.

Thanks for the info. In the meantime, I have discovered that this is actually a hardware problem, since the tablet does not connect to a PC, either. Now, Samsung Canada doesn't want to touch it since I bought it in the U.S. I opened up the tablet, and tried heating the USB connector contacts a bit, and that fixed it, for a while. Now it has gone bad again, so I sent it out to get the connector changed.
Thanks everyone,
Pete
work with cheap otg cable (amazon) here good.
i have tested mouse/keyboard and usb storage.
