I have a problem and hope you can help me.
I've made my device via AlpharevX S-Off. Then I flashed a custom ROM. But I had previously made a backup of my old original ROM by CLokworkMod.
But by then I played an original RUU ROM about the CUSTOM ROM. Now appears only the HTC characters on a white background and I'm just still in the boot loader.
But I'm not even in the recovery menu.
Can you help me?
Is it possible to start S-off with AlpharevX when the phone does not start, but in the bootloader or fastboot?
Can I suggest that you Post this problem into One of the existing akpharevx threads as that way one of the original developers might assist you

Did you remember to wipe before you "played" the original? If you can get into recovery, wipe everything and do a fresh flash. If you cant get into recovery you will need to RUU.
I didn't wipe before i flash the original RUU...and i can not get into recovery mode.
How can i RUU without starting the telephone?
Put your RUU on your Windows desktop. Type %temp% and run. In the files that pop up look for Rom.zip, rename it PB99IMG.zip put it in the root of your gold SD card if it needs to be a gold card, and boot your phone into hboot. When asked to update press y.

I tried it but the mobile freezes after seleting yes. Furthermore it says "hboot can not roll back"...
ask the alpharev guys what to do. they set the hboot version very high to prevent accidental overwriting. unfortunatley they seem to forget to release a downgrate hboot so the whole thing would be reversible. until they do, you a bit in a puddle.
Or try a pre-rooted RUU. This will not try and over write Hboot.

Your best bet is to look on XDA in the Dev's section. I can't look for you as it depends on you version number, carrier etc.

Seems to sum up where you are at currently.....so do whats been advised in the posts above (perhaps post both of these latest posts into the other AlphaRevx threads) and wait for the AlpharevX team to respond. I believe that they are meant to be working on a way to reverse the AlpharevX process, so should be able to help or at least inform you of your options.
I'm not condoning multiple posting, but, as the desire S was one of the last devices to achieve success you may have more success contacting them by posting in the existing Incredible S AlphaRevX thread - which see's far more activity.

I think you mean to do a Nandroid backup, right? As Titanium only backs up user and system apps and data.

Sorry my bad, Yes a nandroid backup
However a nandroid backup won't backup the boot system nor recovery so after rooting you won't be able to get back to stock without an RUU which matches your current build.
Though it may be possible by temp rooting first, backing up system and recovery, then rooting via alpharev, installing a custom recovery and doing a nandroid backup of the stock ROM. This may provide all components needed to get back to stock without an RUU, though a bit more research to figure it all out

The RUU .exe contains all you need including the RUU radio, however us it with caution as it'll also update the HBOOT.
EDIT: Oops, just run it on the PC & USB connected and it'll take a few mins and back at STOCK everything.
I have seen many posts where people attempt to S-ON and end up bricking their phone, be careful if you need to S-ON.
That RUU isn't for the XE

Hi guys,
Bought a XE from Voda and tried to s-off = success. Then tried to do the "RUU" and the phone has sh1t itself, rebooting, loop after loop.
I should never have attempted it, I am a noob. Tried wiping cache, dalvik cache, hard reset (all from rebooting into recovery) with no joy at all. Tried flashing another rom from sd card = fail.
Is it a brick?

before you say it, yes, I am an idiot. I have no idea, one of the threads mentioned one (which now I cant seem to find that thread again yet) and I tried it, killed my XE instantly.
I have flashed GS2's before and thought s-off = go flash a rom or any sensation ruu but of course, I am a dill.
Is it a matter of flashing (if I can find it) a recovery image from somewhere for the xe;??
I was trying to upgrade the stock rom on my HTC Sensation to revolutionary ICS. Ran the superwipe script and it removed everything from the phone. the phone refuses to boot now. Is there a way I can get my phone back?

You can boot into revolutionary. Go to mounts and mount usb storage. Then you should be able to copy the rom to the SD and flash it from there

If all else fails and providing you can get the phone to load the HBOOT screen you can try flashing the latest RUU from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1408961
The file should be run on your PC with the phone connected. You would then of course need to reinstall a custom recovery program again, but that's simple with 4ext recovery updater from the market. Then you can flash the ICS custom ROM of your choice.

it didnt work because you probably didnt flash the new firmware update. if you want to boot ics roms you have to upgrade
You need to flash the latest firmware that's compatible with ICS 4.0.x. Find the thread in the development section, download the PG58IMG.zip and copy it to the root of your /sdcard/. Reboot the phone into fastboot/bootloader. The phone will detect your PG58IMG.zip and ask if you want to flash it. Use volume+ to accept the upgrade. The device will reboot once during this process. Firmware upgraded, old ROM's will now bootloop, ICS roms will work sexily.

Have you gone through revolutionary to S-OFF the phone ? IIRC the Revolutionary HBOOT is 1.17.1111.
IF YOU ARE NOT S-OFF GET S-OFF FIRST.
Assuming you are S-OFF then look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767 Read and re-read the information there.
The 3.12 version (HBOOT 1.23.0000) supports GB and ICS, this is what I'm using as I also want to run CM7.
The 3.24 version (HBOOT 1.27.0000) only supports ICS
That'll get you ICS compatible firmware and radio.
As far as ROM is concerned, take your pick, I'm using Virtuous Inquisition but there are loads there.

The only error is that the file doesn't exist for S On & *locked* users, although I can't confirm if this because this is true I've only heard about this from a couple of users.
The rest of the tool is bug free.
If you want to install a custom ROM then you will have to do either one of the following:
Use HTC Dev Unlock & Stay S On.
S Off without voiding your warranty. and then continue with this tutorial from step 1
Now, for the second method, you can also use my tool.
And frankly, because you are starting from scratch, the tool will make everything easy. Here's the options that you need to select:
First, S Off.
then Install 4EXT Recovery
then Install Firmware
then download your ROM & Install by selecting install ZIP from recovery.

I was in your state as well. I was trying to see wait whether Revolutionary.io would produce a newer version for the HBOOT 1.27. But I got tired of waiting and just went on to use other methods. In the beginning, it's a bit confusing. It took me a while to understand everything. But once you follow the steps, everything should become more simple.
A problem that I encounter was install 4EXT Recovery. I couldn't install it at first. I just install Clockwork's Recovery and flashed the ROM I picked. Then I went ahead and downloaded the apk for the 4EXT Recovery and install it from there. It was troublesome in the beginning, but it was well worth it.
My suggestion is that you should do HTC Dev Unlock first. Then S-OFF.

When you have the RUU, run it without a device first. When the first window of the RUU opens, drag it to the side of your screen, open Explorer and search your windows drive for "rom.zip". When you find it copy it to another location and close the RUU window.
Open rom.zip archive and you will find a file called "android-info.txt" open it and see if your cid is listed there. If it is present you can flash this RUU safely.

Thanks for your help, but it's not there. Is there any way to restore DS without this RUU? It's bootloader unlocked, rooted, has the custom recovery. unfortunately the "misc version" was not uploaded in adb mode, thus I cannot change the main version, to be able to downgrade it. But since the main version is "too high" (2.10.161.5) and there is no adb mode and I dont have the original RUU there is nothing to do. Is it possible somehow to change the main version in fastboot???? I think this would be the only chance without the the ruu.

Also, why would you need a RUU anyway? You can still enter recovery, can't you? Heck, of course you can: even if you couldn't you could always fastboot flash recovery recovery.img a working one.
I fail to see why a RUU would be necessary here.

Lets see again: bootloader unlocked, cwm 5.0.2.0 installed, as you adviced I flased an official 1.32.161.1(older than the original 2.10.161.5) boot.img, then tried to install from recovery the custom rom, which still seems to be ok, but the phone freezes at htc logo during boot. This custom rom is a well known working version, there shouldnt be any problem. What else can I do without the RUU?

What? You flashed the boot.img from a RUU and expected it to work with a custom ROM??
Why don't you just flash the boot.img that's included with the custom ROM...?

Ok,
So I've used roms on my hd2 and one x, so I thought this would be simple on a friends sensation, oh how wrong was I.
I have unlocked the sensation via htcdev, installed clockworkmod and installed pyramids jellybean rom.
Now I have all sorts of issues, the rom boots then drops somehow straight to clockworkmod. I can't mount the sd card within clockworkmod to try a different rom and the phone is now useless, doh.
How can I fix this please guys?
Did you update the firmware? Are you s off or s on? If your s on you must flash boot image. Download 4 ext recovery, enable smart flash in 4ext. This way you can flash boot image. Please read flashing roms with s on. Also for that rom the firmware must also be upgraded. Let me link you to the guide to flashing roms with s on. This will help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1631861
Someone more knowledgeable than myself can give you step by step instructions to get you out of this pinch. But in the mean time read the link I posted about flashing with s on. It will help in the future. Best wishes not to worry I'm sure you can fix this.

HTC Dev doesn't really unlock it. It only partially unlocks it.
It doesn't s-off the device so you don't have access to the system partition, meaning you can't properly install a custom ROM without a few extra steps. And I don't think you can do it at all with clockworkmod. You need 4EXT Recovery which can flash a ROM with s-on. There's a few extra steps to doing it but it works.
You also have to make sure you have the correct firmware. So if the device was previously on a Gingerbread ROM and you didn't upgrade firmware, it won't work.
Now, the part where it boots then drops back into recovery is weird.
Tell us exactly what steps you did so we can better determine where something went flukely.
I'm CERTAIN it's fixable though.

Thanks for responding.
I've got S-OFF and flashed boot.img with adb.
Will 4EXT allow me to mount the sd card?
Yes it should
Also some roms require 4ext it's a super easy touch recovery to use. You can download from here or the playstore.

Yeah I'm certain it's fixable too , just not sure how, lol. I'll give 4EXT a shot. I have no idea how or why it drops straight to clockworkmod either, I would expect it to reboot to clockworkmod if anything, but it just kind of switches from the rom straight to it, very odd.
If you could point me to a firmware I might need I would be very grateful.
It is universal 3.33 let me get link also 3.32 will work on most ics roms but 3.33 is the newest I'm running jelly bean and use 3.33

If you are s-off you shouldn't have to flash boot.img separately. It will do all that with the ROM flash.
Maybe that's what's screwy. Though a borked up ROM still shouldn't affect SD card mounting in recovery...that is really weird. Do you have a card reader that you can use to check the card out in your computer? I'm wondering if somehow you screwed up the card when flashing the ROM. Maybe it wont' mount because the card isn't formatted properly anymore. Stuff like that has happened before.

Hi,
What does your bootloader say?
hboot etc.
Yes if your s off you simply flash from recovery without boot img. But do update your firmware.

Bootloader says:
S-ON
Ok, so I think I need to update the firmware?
I've installed EXT4, still cant mount sd, so can't revert to another rom.

Hi,
If you are s-on,you cannot update your firmware.
What is your hboot?

hboot 1.18.0000
Unlocked
S-ON
As far as I was aware S-ON just prevented the boot.img from being written via recovery, which can be done with adb. So the only reasons for these issues must be firmware version right?

Hi,
It is a pity you went to HTC to unlock your phone.
I wonder if you can still s-off using revolutionary.
You are going to need to run a RUU,and hopefully get a working phone again.
Try and find a RUU HERE that matches your area and carrier.

Yup. If you have the 1.18 hboot you have Gingerbread firmware, which won't support Jellybean or ICS.
The good news is that you can flash a gingerbread rom and get the phone back to a working state right away if you need to get the phone back to the owner.
The RUU to restore is pretty simple. Then Revolutionary s-off proceedure is also extremely painless.
Reverting back to stock and starting over to s-off shouldn't take more than 15 minutes if you do it right. Then flashing the ICS/GB firmware (3.32 or 3.33) takes 3 minutes. Then the new rom takes 3 more minutes.
Just make sure you RUU to gingerbread and not to ICS. The ICS Hboots are harder to s-off. It's worth adding the extra step to flash the ICS/JB firmware later.
This is driving me nuts, tried 2 ruu's, both failed, if it was my phone it would be out the window!
