no SD-Card, no SIM is in my device!
There has been a similiar/identical problem with the Desire Z/HD devices, its a hardware issue, faulty emmc chip.
there's a thread about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039504
You could pop into the #G2ROOT irc channel on freenode for potential help, but if its the same error we had, you'll have to get a warranty replacement.

Same thing happened to me and other guy (check ds general). He had to replace eMMC chip, I sent mine to HTC and they gave me new device. Good luck with this, with every topic it appears to be more general issue.

recently many friends came up with the same confusiom like yours。
this seems to be a bug with a small chip,named eMMC(GOOGLE it,pls)
this happens mostly to the owners of DS,that pull out the battery when the phone is being used. In this way the fragile chip for story is burned.
this is my own opinion, maybe right or maybe not.
oh,right.changing a new eMMC chip,cost300 rmb.as $40 more or less~\
wish you&your device a good luck
what's kind of interesting:
i had the same problem, but somehow i have not knowingly managed to get it to work again. back then i had those log-errors when making a backup via clockwork. now when i do that i don't have the errors anymore. basically i didn't do anything else but formatting the cache-partition multiple times via clockwork when the phone didn't want to boot...

You can get the same error messages if your partitioning table gets corrupted, which can be fixed by wiping and flashing a few times.
But if you have the eMMC error, writing fails, so the phone is completely bricked and cannot be fixed.
You can double check if you have the broken chip when you get the error messages by running some adb commands, can't remember them off the top of my head, but if you follow the link in my previous reply, there's plenty of instructions there.
Also, r_benamin, did you get the name of your eMMC chip? I'd like to check if my gf has the potentially faulty one.
-Nipqer
Ive got the "faulty" samsung one...so far so good - i hope it will be okay forever
Anyway, the eMMC can be replaced, so you can repair your first bricked device

[solved]BRICKed: inside eMMC's dead, with E:Can't open /cache/recovery/log
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1150917
my phone with the same mistake installs the new rom installs su but it cannot open
after installing su on recovery i can format system wipe everything and install roms but it cannot opens is there a different or strange thin with my desire s
I have the exact problem with a Desire S
The problem is that I S-OFF with Revolutionary, and so my warranty is void.
Any idea in how could I put back the original boot so I can send it HTC for repair?
I encountered this problem in the morning while flashing my GF's Desire S.
Thank god i managed to format it through recovery and after flashing LBC Rom everything was fine again. Got me scared there for a minute.
I didn't manage to do nothing with it.... just the recovery works and cant do nothing from it
Its nice that I have phone insurance from my provider, so I will prob get it repaired through insurance.
ok i just managed to resolve this issue with ordinary Desire.
I rerooted it with custom unrevoked by using custom recovery.
I putted RA 2.0.0 and everything worked smoothly.
(i thought it is wasted)
Any updates on this?
Isn'n possible to mount some fake cache and do what you need to?
What is your logcat saying while in boot loop?

I tried factory reset it does not work. Next i tried recovery, i press the up volume and power button and it gives me this
android system recovery 3e
reboot system now
apply sdcard:update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I tried the wipe data/factory reset but nothing it still hangs on the htc screen, i also tried the wipe cache partition and no go.
Finally i decided to try and update it using the sd card but now i get this problem
E: cant open/cache/recovery/command
install from sdcard
finding update package
opening update package
verifying update package
E:failed to open /sdcard/update.zip (no such file or directory)

If i were y'all i would get ahold of HTC cause i am pretty sure they have a remote access program for all HTC devices and they could probably undo whatever happened.
It sounds like he has a soft bricked. Do you know if he was trying to perm root it using visionary or trying to get s-off.. and btw you would get more help if you posted in the Q&A of the HTC G2. I would post a link but I'm using the app

I tried rooting my husband's lg optimus s but when i loaded a custom rom, he was unable to send/receive text messages. i tried a few other roms with no fix. restored stock via nandroid backup still no fix. read that i had to unroot the phone to downgrade to froyo to get a radio fix and upgrade back to gingerbread to reroot (my evo was SO MUCH EASIER) but when i tried downgrading i didn't realize i also had to restore the stock recovery so i bricked it. i managed to unbrick it using this method
>>forums .androidcentral.com/lg-optimus-s-rooting-roms-hacks/59781-un-brick-method-some-forms-brick.html
but now i'm stuck in recovery with the following errors:
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/command
E:Can't mount CACHE:recovery/log
E:Can't open CACHE:recovery/log
i tried flashing a rom, restoring nandroid backup and flashing update.zip (sprint stock froyo which bricked it again) but i'm still stuck.
any ideas???
my keyboard died while typing this up... maybe I should go play lotto, my luck has to turn around somewhere!
RESOLVED!!
1. download the stock recovery for your phone
2. rename it "recovery.img" without quotes
3. mount your sd card using the usb toggle
4. save it to the root of your sd card
5. unmount the sd card
6. open adb
7. enter the following commands (press enter after each line):
Code:
adb shell
mount /sdcard
flash_image recovery /sdcard /recovery.img
Note: I had to run those commands a few times before it actually installed the recovery image correctly.
8. reboot into stock recovery
**if you don't get the # after entering "adb shell", you aren't rooted and i don't know how to help but otherwise you should be good.
depending on what you plan on doing at that point you may need different instructions. i flashed back to froyo using the official sprint zip and then upgraded back to gingerbread, rerooted and installed a custom recovery and finally a custom rom. if you need any help or clarification just let me know.
go into bootloader (power button plus down on volume key) and make sure that you have the correct PD.....zip (original update). it should automatically recognize that you have the original update and apply the update to your phone. then while STILL in bootloader DO NOT restart your husbands phone, go into recovery. Find/download a rom that is closest to the ORIGINAL rom that came with your phone and isntall. all should work and it should boot up just fine as if it were new. i had to do this with my inspire 4g i had relatively the same problem nothing would work until i found the original PD......zip file and placed it as a file named "update" on my phone and it updated to the PD......zip. then i found an original htc inspire rom and for some reason only the original closest rom works with the PD......zip. i tried multiple roms and only the original rom worked. this worked for me it took me hours to figure out. i hope this helps and is clear enough. to place a rom on your phone while in recovery go down until you see mounts and mount it to your pc.

the optimus s doesn't have bootloader. when i do power+vol down, it just goes to recovery. this isn't something that got messed up, it's always been like that. my evo has a bootloader and i was hoping for something similar with the optimus but it doesn't have it.

Trying install Virtous Inquisiton ICS Rom.
I rooted and update the firmware of my htc sensation.
I installed the virtuous inquistion rom but now have this annoying pop ups that I continually force close but they never go away.
(see attachments)
Then when I try to get back into Recovery mode to point to another rom, I can't as I'm stuck with this screen ?
(see attachments)
All it does it update successfully but then after I reboot it I get the above mentioned errors.
I say no, and it simply reboots.
Where do I go from here ?
What can I do next ?
Thanks for your help
EDIT: :what: woah I just realized your bootloader is still locked, did you s off using revolutionary? Follow the steps below to get into recovery but don't do anything else from there. You need to s off. I don't know enough about this phone yet to really figure out the mess you made, anyone wanna jump in?
Hi,
Delete the firmware update that you installed from your ad card by:
1. Take out sd
2. Boot into bootloader (phone completely off then hold power + volume down)
3. Select recovery
4. Once booting into recovery insert sd then mount to computer and delete from there
You should be able to normally boot into recovery now to flash whatever you need

It's deadly you shouldn't have taken out the usb even if it is stuck, keep waiting that's what is important! And the earlier issue was easy no need to Flash RUU!
If you burnt Nand and flashed RUU over it well your phone is over sorry to say it!
If bootloader doesn't show up only thing you can do is flash ruu again until it shows up
Otherwise you can't do anything, my suggestion take it to customer care they can't check if you ever unlocked it because your phone is bricked!
Sorry for you

try this..........1st. relock bootloader
Run the RUU on your computer but don't connect phone or cancel it (it extracts to temp folder on comp) keep the installation window open otherwise it deletes the temp files needed, on your comp browse to c:\users>your_profile_name_>appdata>local>temp (btw its hidden folder) you`ll see folder like this "{72971B53-1555-4F5F-ABDC-C36F174FE9C2}" inside that folder find the file "rom" copy it to your desktop, once done close the RUU installation setup (press cancel or something).....next rename the "rom" file you have on desktop to "PJ03IMG" without quotes......next copy that to your sdcard (via which ever means possible) put sdcard into phone and boot into bootloader (hold vol down and press power button) when bootloader appears it scans sdcard for .zips and .img files for stock RUU...it should start the process of re-installing the RUU package, all should be fine.....once its finished let it reboot then you can unlock bootloader again and root/flash recovery.....hope it helps

If you read no.9 of his post>>>>
all you have to do is RUU the normal way via windows installer, even if you have error sign on all four corners the RUU package has repair option if upgrade fails....you just have to wait......the phone should still be detected as usb/fastboot is still enabled so its not hard bricked.....then follow my original post to get back stock rom.........I`ve recovered from this before

At least tell, which part you don't understand.
RUU the normal way and wait for 5 hours(if it gets stuck @54%)
Hi.. if you haven't fixed your Pico yet,
Try this
Unlock bootloader
try this command
Fastboot Flash recovery recovery.img
(Flash twrp recovery with this command ~see twrp recovery section )
Then
fastboot boot recovery
Now you will be in recovery without going to bootloader
Now try cuteprince procedure
Then try ruu.
Unlock
Flash any custom Rom.
And Voila
Your phone boots
Enjoy
PS:if a step doesn't work /you don't know how to do that step, skip that step ~nothing will happen, even if you miss an very important step. Go to next step.

First download a ROM and place it on your memory card. Go to cwm.. > mounts and storage > format data cache boot system.
go to main menu.. > do a factory reset...
go to advanced > do wipe dalvik cache
install zip from sd card > choose ROM.zip.. > flash..
reboot..
Hi,
I tried looking at other threads that have similar problems, but the problem is i am still unsure what is causing my problem, so i don't know what will help.
This morning, i installed the new ViperOneS Rom, and i followed all the instructions that they provided. But now my phone will only boot to the HTC splash screen and then immediately shut off. When I try to power it back on, the back, home, and settings buttons will flash until i let go of the power button.
I cannot access anything on my phone; i cant boot into recovery or hboot as far as i know.
Please help if you can
Thanks
Then your phone is on...keep holding while they flash until it shuts off, then hold volume down, while holding, press power once, keep holding volume down until you see boot loader

Thank you very much. But what do i do now? I can now get into recovery, but is there something wrong with install? Do i need to reinstall the ROM?
I am also having difficulty flashing the boot.img file. when i use the .bat file to flash in fastboot mode, it freezes my phone.
Any additional help would be very appreciated.
Thanks

Make sure that you can mount your SD card in Recovery. If you can then you should wipe everything 3 times(System, Cache, everything) then repeat the steps to install the ROM from scratch. Also make sure you are using the correct version for your phone processor. S3 or S4 version

Thanks,
I am unable to mount the sdcard. When I go into the mount menu in CWM and press mount /sdcard, it gives me an error and tells me i cannot mount the card. I did format /data, /system, /cache, but without access to the sdcard, i cannot access the ROM to reinstall.

Then you need the HTC drivers on your PC. Check this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2217396
So it all works now. I had a friend help me reinstall CM on my phone.
The problem was that I could not access the phone internal storage at all. That meant that i could not mount the sdcard in recovery or even backup or restore anything i had done.
The way we fixed the problem was to run the RUU and restore it back to stock and then re-root it. This turned out to work and now my phone is working properly again.
Thanks for all your help.

That's great!!! Make sure to keep the RUU handy and the HTC sync drivers. You never know when something could go wrong. Also make sure to keep frequent backups
