[Q] Google Maps 5.7 Brut (no offline mode in labs) - General Questions and Answers

I installed the newest version of google maps brut (from here) and there is no option to store maps for offline-use in Labs, only scale bar and measure options like before 5,7.
I installed the resign version (maps5.7.0-ownhere-testkeyresign.apk) on my SE X10mini and everything works except for the offline storing.
Version (from maps>about): 5.7.0-ownhereMOD-thanks-Brut.all(#5713) gmm-android-htc
Ideas anybody?

Also, this is how I installed. (Instructions from the thread I mentioned above)
1. In Titanium Backup, select Maps and make a backup.
2. Select Maps and wipe data, then uninstall.
3. Select Street View and wipe data, then uninstall
4. Install Google Maps 5.x ownhere-resign.apk
5. Go to market, and reinstall street view.

Problem solved!
Solution
Probably caused by not having stock ROM.

[APP] Google Maps 5.XX (free) with WORLD Navigation activated

I am not sure whether this has been posted in the N1 apps forum before.
I just stumbled upon this in the desire forum. Basically this is a modded GMAPS apk which has World Wide navigation enabled. This helps for people like me who stay in countries (India) where official GMAPS navigation is not enabled.
Attached is the APK file.
Also the newest version can be found at the below site.
http://translate.google.co.in/trans...t+mod&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&prmd=ivns
EDIT:
Steps to install thanks to mynameisjon
1. In Titanium Backup, select Maps and make a backup in case anything goes wrong (you might wanna nandroid instead, but I find this works fine.
2. Select Maps and wipe data, then uninstall.
3. Select Street View and wipe data, then uninstall (may be unnecessary, but I found it worked, so you can let me know if it doesn't need to be done).
4. Install this apk(it's a resigned version that's linked to the market, so you can get updates*.
5. Go to market, and reinstall street view.
*If you updated from market, Navigation will be deactivated according to Google's restrictions again, so I recommend unchecking auto-update.
EDIT: 05/12/2011
A new version is available... --> http://translate.google.co.in/trans...t+mod&hl=en&rls=com.microsoft:en-us&prmd=ivns

It works as stated
It says "application not installed"
Yeah. 1 thing i forgot to mention is that you would have to uninstall existing Maps application if any. Otherwise the installation would fail.

You'll need root as the Map file is in system (no access to it without root)

Signed version of maps5.9.0 added to OP
Hi All,
Signed version of maps5.9.0 added to OP now simply install like other apk.
Installs at first then says Not installed
Installs at first then says Not installed
Help please, I beg you. Thank you very much!
Why is this version here? I mean - navigation always worked for me from google maps - not on the map but it loaded google navigation when I clicked address on the map.
Is this here different? I mean - you navigate using GM? Is it better? Or is this a problem in your countries (I live in UK)?
Thanks for answers.

[Q] Tweaked issues

I just installed Tweaked 2.0 and love it but I don't have any google apps and my home button rarely works. Anyone else have these issues? and where can i find a google apps package?
Ran a factory reset from CWM and everything's working now
All you need to do is flash a gapps.zip file from ClockWorkMod Recovery. That will install all the google apps.
Just Google gapps.zip download or search some XDA forums and you should be able to locate, download and flash them. Any outdated apps will be automatically (with permission of course) updated once Play is installed.

[FIXED]SPICE Mi 495 Google Play Services Incompatible shared user id

For those who use spice mi 495 and are stuck :crying: trying to update Google apps and are unable to install Google play services with error on screen showing incompatible with other apps using the same shared user id. Here is a tested and working solution.:good:
Steps :-
1.Backup all the data and apps u already have on your phone as we are going for a factory reset. ( To backup current version apks of the app use root explorer and copy all apks from /data/app and some apks from /mnt/asec/ .)
2.Downloaded latest signed gapps for Android ICS from here (49.64 MB).
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Boot phone in recovery mode and Wipe data/factory reset. (This is why you need to back up everything.)
5. Flash the latest signed Gapps downloaded earlier.
6. Wipe Dalvik cache and cache partition then reboot.
7. Downloaded the latest version of Google Play Store and installed it. (You can download version 4.5.10 of play store from here [3.69 MB] )
8. Update all the Gapps via Play Store. (Meanwhile if there are updates for other than Google apps you may update them too.)
9. Then install Google Play Services and done! :victory:
Note:- Alternatively in place of step 7 you can open the Market (Play Store) and tap agree. Then press home and leave it for awhile. After the Play Store is updated, open it and tap agree again. The new Play Store should download Google Play Services and install it for you.
I found the solution here
