In todays world is all about what people and users want, right? Developers like the idea of creating custom ROM's, adding their own touch to phones, I am guilty myself. Not here to ramble on the bionic release date nor the whose network is better however sprint has truly the only unlimited data plan ( Their representatives do need help and lack in customer service) and please T-mobile stop talking how your unlimited, you are not!
I can see how the 3D is setting the bar for smart phones, but is it really necessary? Now should motorola even lock the Boot-loader? These two phones are the best out there right now, yes I know the bionic is not out as of now. Im going to go with the realease date of August,4,2011. I called in Verizon yesterday and talked to one of their manager, this is how it went.
Me: How much would it be to cancel the line 541-***-****. I would like to go ahead and switch networks and try out the Evo 3d.
Manager: ok, I can help you. But before I answer your question may I ask why your are looking to cancel?
Me: i've been stuck with this crappy phone because I was going to upgrade to the bionic when it originally was suppose to be released. And feel it isn't right what Moto is doing to us, and they still lock their phones on top if all that. They should just worry about what we as customers like and want instead of being a stuck up company.
Manager: I'm sorry to hear that, I too myself have been waiting on the bionic. I think everyone here at work have also. Please be patient I know its hard and also I mean its just right around the corner.
Me: Around the corner?
Manager: yes, its suppose to be released Aug, 4. I heard its not even called the bionic anymore they have completely redesigned the whole phone!!! It will be worth the wait.
There you have it folks spoken truth straight from Verizon. I would continue on About my conversation but that would only bore you to death....... (chirp, chirp, chirp) What have we learned?
1. New designed
2. Not called bionic anymore
3. Verizon is not smart for taking unlimited data plan off (Switching once my contract is up)
4. August, 4, 2011 released date
5. Will be sold out first day ( Because all Verizon employees want it and they will buy and even get it for way less they anyone else) Did you know they receive 60% percent off any phone of their choice even raffle phones like crazy and get them for free. Most times they will sell them by posting them on Craigslist and Ebay. Don't believe me do some research.
6. Verizon are a**holes when you want to cancel with them
7. Love the design and look of the original bionic ewww... to the droid 3 ( No offense people not a fan of the keyboard thing)
8. Locked boot-loader
9. Don't expect anything Cheap will most-likely be $300.00!
10. Stuck On waiting and waiting, Motorola can sure keep a secret.
Now that you know all they America, you decide! Remember This is my opinion, theres lots of great phones (Android) Out there and everyone has their top phones these are mine. Help me decide on which phone to get by leaving a comment below! Should I wait?.........
I would just consider that if you already have unlimited data but jump to sprint and come back to Verizon later, you're not gonna have your unlimited data anymore. I find the bionic slightly irrelevant as long as the galaxy s2 is still going to be coming to the US.

hi all,
i am about to get a new phone. this is one i am interested in. my question is do you think it is worth it or should i go for the tilit 2? if i buy the fuze, i do not have to extend my contract. although i would with the tilt2. according the device database, the internals are identical, the tilt however does come with 6.5. although i know i can get that here also. just thought i could get some input from all you other lucky fuze owners out there. thanks, i appreciate it.

I just got mine and haven't stopped modding it since, lol
First I'd have to say is play with both devices first before you make your final decision, it helps to know what you're getting with both. Next is, you can get 6.5 on both as another person has said, thought it doesn't have the official feeling, it works for the most part (think each 6.5 rom comes with its share of bugs and what not). Regarding the issue of the contract, I don't see what's so bad about extending your contract if you're going to get a device that you will be content with for a while ( the 2 year being locked in doesn't seem that much of a fuss to me since you'd most likely be with them till it's time to renew again). The only down side I see with contracts is the subsidy on phones that comes with it when you renew. If you play with both devices, are leaning towards the Tilt 2, and don't have any future plans for a new phone, then I'd say go with the Tilt 2, the bigger screen and official 6.5 I think would be worth it. But if you think AT&T might get some killer phones within 2 years (which looks like to be the booming thing right now seeing all these Andoird, WinMo, smartphones exploding on every carrier), I'd say get the Fuze, and wait till you get that phone you really like later on.
As we have seen and heard all about the new HTC HD2, most of us really like this phone or love this phone. We want this phone for our own likes. Some like it for the looks, some like it just because it is the latest and greatest, some like it but want it to have a keyboard, and there are the ones that agree with all these reasons and more. Well here is another HTC phone that we can all talk about and send an E-Mail to [email protected] asking for SPRINT TO GET THIS PHONE! http://htcpedia.com/news/hd3-is-goin...-the-line.html Check this phone out and yu decide for yourself on how much you WANT this latest phone from HTC to come to SPRINT. Send an E-Mail to [email protected] telling him how much and how bad you want this phone, and wether or not you also would like it with or without a keyboard. We had a choice between the HTC TOUCH PRO & HTC TOUCH DIAMOND. Now we have a choice between the HTC TOUCH PRO2 & will later be able to also choose the HTC TOUCH DIAMOND2. If SPRINT can get the HTC HD2 & HTC HD2 PRO from HTC because enough of their customers are asking for these, then it also would be that we can have SPRINT convince HTC to manufacture both the HTC HD3 & HTC HD3 PRO. So, again I say let's all send an E-Mail to [email protected] telling him that we SPRINT CUSTOMERS WANT THESE PHONES!
But I don't want these phones. I just got my Touch Pro 2. I'm a wierdo in that I don't buy a new phone every 3 weeks in order to keep up with the latest and greatest. At some point I have to call it quits and stick with whatever it is I have for a while. If they build it, I will not come.
Another issue is that I very seriously doubt that emails left with some Sprint exec are going to convince HTC to build the HTC NON-AMATEUR HD-12 or whatever it is you want them to invent.
I am glad that you read this post. You are entitled to your opinion. What you don't realize is that we can talk to these people and if enough of us do that, then they will talk to the manufacture in responce to the mass requests from the customers "US" who are the reason for them to have their jobs and also to justify their positions.
Anyone that has an opinion about this matter wether positive or negitive is entitled to let that be heard. So, everyone please post your opinion here. If you agree with me, then just send an E-Mail to [email protected] and also let him know what you think. The people who disagree, you can also send an E-Mail and explain why you don't want that phone.

What you don't seem to realize, besides the fact that spelling things correctly is likely to make a better impression upon those executives you're trying to convince, are several factors:
- There is no evidence that Sprint has ever really listened to their user base irrespective of how vociferous or well-grounded their howls of protest may be. See, for example, the 21,352 threads about Windows Mobile 6.5 on the Touch Pro 2. Other examples include many months of disabled GPS on the Mogul, and so on.
- An executive who gets even several hundred emails requesting a particular extant device may very well presume that those represent a majority of everyone who wants it. They need to sell way more than that. The exec will listen to the company's research department, not emails.
- Emails demanding that one company somehow force another company to create and manufacture a device that does not currently exist are simply not going to carry any weight at all. At a level where developing a device costs millions, that's not how businesses work.
In short, I think this is, like every other internet petition, a complete and utter waste of time.
Worse, it distracts from current real issues with the phones we actually have in our hands. I'm not personally convinced that, for example, a letter-writing campaign about the broken Bluetooth on the Touch Pro 2, will do any good at all. However, it's a real problem with a real device for which we've paid real money and which has real consequences for for the day-to-day usability of the devices. Some would argue that it violates the implied contract of usability ("it has Bluetooth!") made when we bought the phones, since many people are unable to hang up through Bluetooth, obviating any real utility to the feature.
Any energy devoted to writing emails to Sprint execs would be better-spent asking them to live up to their obligations with respect to devices they're currently selling rather than non-existent devices that, based on past experience, they'll break and never fix in the future.
The sucessor to MY Touch Pro 2 must have Windows Mobile 7 out of the box and the speed to run it.

What? For some reason you harbor some doubt that if Sprint sells it with 6.5 with a promise of an upgrade they might not provide such an upgrade?

I've owned the Motorola Select 2000e (literally the size of a brick), Motorola Timeport, Motorola Rizr z3, HTC Herald (Wing), HTC Touch Pro 2. Don't think I didn't want the devices in between them, but I agree, I'm eyeballing the HTC HD2 with double the horsepower of the Touch Pro 2 and God knows what the folks here on XDA will dream up for it but at some point you have to jump in with both feet and accept the reality like buying a PC the moment you do, your device is an instant relic. We also have to face the reality that whether contract, no contract and/or unlocked it won't be cheap. Yes, T-Mobile reduced the price of the TP2 from $349.99 to $269.99 to pave the way for the HD2 but at what cost. At what cost to any device as we move forward?
I have screen protectors, "Body Gloves" and 8GB memory cards; if I can't sell my devices in mint condition on eBay or Craigslist for what I paid for my devices I'll cry!!! I can sell my TP2 for $300; good luck selling my Dell Axim for even a $100.
Okay, the Snapdragon is twice as fast as my device, but what does that mean; twice as fast at what; opening my emails or my programs? I play Chess; now the day they make a program which I can give voice commands and type a document "vocally" as fast I type on a keyboard; then let's talk! Until then, I pout at what might have been.
I'm glad to see that there are both sides of this issue being discussed. I had also originally started out with a brick for a phone and had went smaller and smaller until the idea of using the phone for more than just making phone calls. I had the original HTC TOUCH and was happy with it for a while. I had quickly got very tired of using the onscreen keyboard, and wished that I could get a keyboard. I started looking for a new phone. The HTC TOUCH PRO was what I was going to get for an upgrade, so while I was waiting for the date that I could upgrade my phone I had found the HTC TOUCH PRO2 and really loved what I saw. At the time when I saw this, it was not even released from HTC anywhere. What I saw was leaked to the internet. there were people who also did not believe that would make it's way to market, but here it is. While waiting for my upgrade date, I had upgraded my wifes phone to the HTC TOUCH PRO. She was totally against that, but I did that for her anyway. Now she just loves it and can not live without having a keyboard on her phone. I told ter that I was going to upgrade my HTC TOUCH and she was not too happy with that, but once she had gotten used to her new phone, she was not against that idea except for one thing, the price. I told her that she did not have to worry since I would pay for it all from my side money, so then she was in agreement. My HTC TOUCH had quite a few problems with freezing and random rebooting, and some times I had to pull the battery to reboot it when it froze up. Then I had to have it replaced because it would not stop a continous loop of starting and shutting down, even if I had tried to do a hard reset. The second replacement would also do random reboots, but only once in a while no matter what, wether I was online or on a call. I was happy with getting rid of that phone. The very first day that the HTC TOUCH PRO2 became available from SPRINT, I had called and ordered it. I still have the original ROM on my phone and I have n
I still have the original ROM on my phone from SPRINT and I have not had the problems that most people are complaining about. I have downloaded some things to my phone to tweak it a little and to add eye candy. I use everything on my phone that it came with and what I downloaded except for 2 things, SPRINT TV & SPRINT MUSIC. I have no need for either of them at all. I download music and video's to my 16GB card and I stream video to my phone from my SLING BOX PRO. On average I stream anywhere between 10GB & 15GB of data every month. There are some things that I can not stand that ALL of the US carriers had requested from HTC. They had all requested that there be no FRONT FACING CAMERA, and that the FM RADIO be either disabled in the GSM modles and when the ROM for the CDMA models be written, that they wish for it to be excluded. They had ALL did this, so they can later SELL us their CRAP that we should have gotten just like the EUROPIAN & ASIAN models got right out of the box. According to HTC, they said that the carriers customers did NOT want those features. We know that is a load of crap. So, as I say LET'S STAND UP AND TELL AND DEMAND WHAT WE WANT! We don't have to just sit back and wait for whatever just happens to come our way. So, who ever your carrier is wether it be AT&T, SPRINT, T-MOBILE, or VERIZON, call them and speak up and be heard. If enough of us do just this, they will listen. That's why the HTC HD2 will be coming to the US and to T-Mobile first, because enough of us spoke up loud enough for us to be heard. So till nex time.......

TMO exclusive in the US.
i thought i'd ask openly since i've done a fair amount of homework, but i'm still inexperienced when it comes with rooting these devices etc.
i used to be a symbian guy, then switched to htc only winmo phones, and joined this forum back in 04. we would flash custom roms etc etc (i really enjoyed it)
what phone do you guys recommend that's either out now or coming out soon for a US provider? i'm looking for top of the line, super fast, easily rooted, new roms flashed (no encrypted boot loaders etc)
i've been on the iphone since 07 (2g, 3g, 3gs) but the new iphone4 just doesn't impress me very much and i'm ready to finally make the move to (what i believe to be) a better device.
any opinions out there? i'm currently with at&t, but can jump ship to verizon or t-mobile (i kinda like the htc evo, but i always hear people complain about sprint here) and i read the droid x will most likely have an encrypted boot loader, so i'm not sure about verizon either.
I was in the same situation as you last week. I have no complaints about ATT's service in my area and signing a contract with another carrier didn't look too appealing since I've been out of contract since 08.
The Nexus One meets all of your criteria and then some. I do not have that gadget lust anymore, I don't feel that it is incomplete like I always felt with my other devices. Hell the only thing I really felt that was missing from the stock build is waking with the trackball, I too came from an iPhone and it just feels natural as opposed to using the sleep button.
I don't think you can really go wrong with any of the top tier Android offerings right now. They all have strengths and weaknesses but the simple fact that the Nexus One gets the (official) updates first made it an easy choice for me.
thanks for the reply. i've been looking at the nexus one for the same reasons you described... the ability to get updates quickly, and the fact it comes with a vanilla rom. i wish i could get the att version with a discount... it looks like if i go with it i'll need to get t-mobile.
i was a little hesitant just because im not sure how it holds up against the latest round of android devices (due to it being out for a while now) but it definitely looks fairly solid from what i've ready.
i ditto the nexus one..IF you want to stay with ATT..but a very customizable phone is the motorola droid..plus a physical keyboard is a BIG plus for me..but the droid is a little old and you should wait for the droid 2 next month..the thing is..who knows who long is going to take for dev to start working on droid 2...droid already has a large drawer full of kernels, themes, roms..ect
yeh, i think theres just too many phones out/coming out to make a decision. the nexus multitouch problem i keep reading about seems kind of annoying... i played with an evo on sprint today and apparently sprint has extremely slow data in my area (even tho it was full bars on 3g) and the droid x might have a locked/encrypted boot loader which i read will definitely affect the ability to flash roms (so i've read)
almost as bad as car shopping.
thanks guys for all the advice so far.
Perhaps I'm being naive, but I was thinking of starting a petition or something regarding the standard two year contract cell phone company's require in order to get a discount on new equipment.
What gave me the idea is, my brother got an HTC MyTouch with Android 1.6 about a year ago, and I recently got an EVO running 2.2. I've started to notice a high percentage of apps I recommend to him turn out to only run on 2.1 and higher.
He is not eligible for a discounted upgrade until July. Seem's to me if these companies are going to lock us in, they should guarantee that they will update the phone's OS for the same amount of time, assuming updates exist.
I realize most people will think, "good luck with that", and for good reason. Some people might not upgrade if their current phones are up to date.
I understand when you buy a new computer, you don't get a free upgrade to the next version of the OS. But you also don't get locked into a two year contract!
But this seems along the same lines as being charged 20 cents for each text. Actually, worse, since you can choose to not use text messaging. This seems even more of an issue now that they've increased their ETF's.
Perhaps a big enough response would motivate some politician to look into this. I have no idea where to start. Facebook? Twitter?

If you pay for internet service and get a free netbook they do not promise additional updates or anything of that nature and the same goes for phones. A company like HTC may not be able to handle the workload of their smaller entry level phones when they are now putting real phones on the market. if you want your mytouch updated root the phone. simple and its not like those things are even worth selling anymore anyway.
If you buy a netbook it's yours, you aren't required to sign two years of your life away. And it's not HTC who's requiring you to sign, it's the cell providers.
If you're happy with no updates, fine. At least Sprint seems to believe there are people who feel as I do, they give you a discount after only one year.
I don't think it's too much to ask for. Once they make the decision not to provide OS updates, they should offer a discounted new phone, or let you out of your contract.

Can't really compare that... you don't need to void the netbook's warranty to upgrade the OS.

When did T-Mobile decided not to update the phone? Or better yet, when did T-Mobile announce that they will not be updating that particular phone? Great things come to those with patience.

and if you buy the phone you're not required to sign a two year contract either- you CHOOSE the two year contract in order to have the carrier chip in to the purchase price.

I stand corrected. Buy the phone at a "discount", sign up for two years at $2160 (at least), and don't complain that we aren't going to provide OS updates for the same two years.
Generations X and Y, meet generation bend over.
Its also not always the carrier who isnt updating. Its the manufacturer of the phone. It is HTC, Motorola and Samsung that first have to make the upgrade work with whatever interface and hardware they have on there phones then the carrier can upgrade their stuff. After so long its just not worth working on those older phones because they are having breakthroughs on the newer ones. The market is expanding rapidly right now and theres going to be a lot of models left in the dust. Just my opinion.
Suggestions Anyone????
I have two G-Tablets and am working with Android for the first time.
Lost a cell phone today and may have to get another. Have not gone to smart phones up to now. Interested in Android but still plan to use G-Tabs for most of my e-mail, etc. Verizon (used to be Alltel).
What would be a good phone to use with the G-Tablet. Something which is not too locked up and could be used alone or possible tether with tablet. Some of you know the possibilities better than I do.
Thanks for any input.

I liked the feel of the Droid Incredible, though it is becoming dated. You really can't go wrong with the droid family (or so I hear, I'm on t-mobile), but if you want to wait I would pay attention to CES, some crazy phones being revealed.
Note on tethering, you need to do your homework. Some networks lock down their phones pretty good and make you pay. You can get around most with rooting, but just fyi.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
If you wanna go cheap and not have a contract. Get a Droid 1 off EBay. Easy to hack and overclocked at 1 Ghz runs well.
Not sure but i think droid x is the newest thing???
I was thinking of getting one but am waiting till march.
I am with AT&T and they are locked down on the tethering thing..i hear Verizon lets you tether though?
Can someone verify as i may go verizon/droid (from my old iphone/AT&T set up) in the spring if thats the case.
Thanks folks for your replies.
I am a little disappointed. I thought since the Android phones have been so successful lately that quite a few people would be able to tell me what to watch for and what to avoid.
I expect to get a new phone, but haven't been involved with smartphone enough to know the advantages and disadvantages of the hardware and software.
Still would love to hear from other about current options?!?

well im on at&t and im using the captivate and i love it! its rooted with axuras rom on it presently. tethering is enabled and i used it all the time.
the phone is faster than my g tab... seems faster.
ive played with the droid x and i prefer the captivate... dad has the x, it seems odd in the hand and i dont like the physical buttons.. the soft buttons have grown on me.
but any of the top smart phones are close..
Thanks to those who replied.
I found several Droid-type smartphones I liked -- but the plans that come with them wound up being too expensive and too limited to be practical for my use. Please I have a network of computers, a laptop, a netbook and two G-Tablets to get mail, download, etc. I just couldn't convince myself I had to have a smartphone!!
Wound up simply buying the wife a new phone she liked that had good visual features that will help with her visual handicap.
So all's well that ends well.
Again, thanks and best wishes for a blessed New Year.
