Differences bewten QSD8260/8660 (S/3D) - HTC Sensation

i know the sensation have a QSD8260 and evo3D an 8660...
A lot of people are saying, the HTC Sensation runs default at 1.5Ghz... but i think by default run at 1.2Ghz, and 1.5Ghz isn't her default clockspeed...
so my question is... what Differences bewten QSD8260/8660??? only the default clock speed?
thanks and forgive my bad english.

I assume you mean the MSM8260 and MSM8660. They are the same silicon, except one has a dual mode UMTS/CDMA radio and one has just the UMTS. Otherwise, they are identical. One is typically used in UMTS/GSM phones (Sensation) and one in CDMA phones (EVO 3D). There is no difference in default clock speeds.

[Q] AT&T I4G & DHD 3G frequency

If i were to flash my inspire 4g with CM7 rom and say flash the inspire 4g with a radio and ril from dhd, would that mean i am able to use the inspire 4g with the 3g frequency being used in europe and the rest of asia?
I understand that the 3g frequency used by at&t(850/1900) is different from the rest of the world, say singapore or france(2100) of course by flashing a dhd radio,i lose 4g connectivity but thats fine by me since i like experimenting.
i understand also that most htc phones are quad band and i4g's hardware is not that much different than dhd.
Is what i suggesting possible?or this is a hardware issue rather than a software issue.
The frequencies depends on the hardware

[Q] Difference Between HTC (Z710e) Sensation V.S. HTC Sensation (WW Version)

Can somebody tell me what is the difference between HTC (Z710e) Sensation versus HTC Sensation (International Version) in terms of specs? I can't seem to justify why there is a very big difference in price. The Z710e being much cheaper.
Thanks in Advance.
I have the Z710e model and it's the generic European unbranded handset (running 1.35.401.1)

No Carrier Logos out of the box? Factory unlocked? No custom firmware?
100% stock - so long as you get x.xx.401.x (European) FW on it
i have Taiwanese Z710e (running 1.35.709.1)
it's stock ....
Z710e here... No problems, unbranded, S-ON.
Okay..that settles it then. I think I'm going for this Z710e.

Yes but it's from a different region. Depends where the OP is from really
If you are talking about the price difference you see in the US, that's because
- for the US version, most people selling it bought it from tmobile at a discount price with contract. In order to sell it, they have to lower the price to slightly cheaper than the full price, which is 550
- for the international version, it is not available in the US officially. People imported it from Europe or Asia, at full price. To cover cost, they sell it at above the full price of the device.
Hence the price difference. There isn't any difference between the specs of the two. The Us version has tmobile logo on it and tmobile branded software. But once people can get s-off, that would eliminate any software difference between the two. The US one is branded as a 4G device, and the international one isn't. But that's only because only carriers in the US brand HSPA+ as 4G....
just a quick question also only this time regarding the australian z710a telstra model. are they still 4g etc or are they of lesser spec.

According to HTC Aus website, its 3G speed is capable of 14.4 Mbps so it is a "4G" device by AT&T/T-Mobile standard...
Looking at the bands that this phone supports, it seems to have the same hardware as the Canadian Bell model. Bell also brands its as a 4G device, btw.
So, did I understand correctly that ALL Sensation versions are absolutely identical from the point of view of hardware and they all support HSDPA+, just some operators call it 4G and brand the device correspondingly while others do not?
The 4G supports different frequency bands to the normal GSM model
Network*
HSPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia/T-Mobile US: 900/AWS/2100 MHz
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE:
850/900/1800/1900 MHz
*Network bands in regions other than Europe and Asia Pacific may be different, depending on the mobile operator and your location. Please check with your mobile operator.
EddyOS, thanks for your reply but now I'm even more confused
You say that:
HTC Sensation 4G is for 900/AWS/2100;
HTC Sensation Z710e is for 850/900/1800/1900, right?
Does this mean that HTC Sensation Z710e doesn't support UMTS (and, hence, HSDPA/HSDPA+) at all???
My operator works in 900/1800/2100(UMTS with HSDPA) bands. Does this mean I should choose Sensation 4G to be able to use high-speed Internet?
I have a Z710e and can connect at HSDPA
Then, the difference is that 4G just doesn't support 850/1900?
mine Z710e works on Tmobile US HSDPA. Full bar usually get 6M down 2 M up.
people say Tmobile Sensation 4G has faster data speed than Europe/Asia in US. like how much faster?

Sensation z710a and z710e
Hi Friend this is my first answer, the difference is simple but at the same time complex.
HTC Sensation like other phones has variants like this.
z710a:
GSM Quadband 850/900/1800/1900 MHz so you can use 2G networks with all carries but...
UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz only and if your carrier doesn't support this bands you can't use 3G or 3.5G with them.
z710e:
UMTS 900/1700/2100MHz here the same if your carrier doesn't support this frequencies you can't use 3G or 3.5G with them.
These are the main differences, and it's the same like happend with other brands like Samsung
S5360 work 3G with 900/2100
S5360L works 3G with 850/1900
S5830 work 3G with 900/2100
S5830L works 3G with 850/1900
I don't know why this differences because i thinks that it's cheap and easy to simply make phones that work 3G in pentaband 850/900/1700/1900/2100, but for any reason and i don't know why is like that for now.
I hope helps you and other people too.

Turn a 3G Device to a 4G Device?

I tried searching but I couldn't find anything that would help me to be the wiser. What differs the 4G version and the 3G version <- which I have?
Is it possible to turn a 3G to a 4G? Is it just drivers or physical hardware that differs them?
Kind Regards,
Jolaren
its just an icon on the sensation...... besides the band differences on the couple versions out there they are all the same!
but on a realistic level, there is hardware that makes the difference from a 'TRUE' 4G to a 3G device
'h' is 3g
So my European bought Sensation won't be able to run 4G ever?

Well. You see, the T-Mobile 4G isn't even 4G its actually 3G they just call it 4G.. So "H" is basically "4G" for T-Mobile users. So don't worry, you're not missing out on anything. It's just an icon
All current 4G is not true 4G. But it is marketed as such. That's not the question here.
3g can do up to about 3mbs on average. It uses a different radio spectrum than 4G phones.
For example my sensation hits 5mbs while my wifes 3g Samsung Galaxy S can only reach 300kps to 600kps when compared side by side. It will depend on your proximity to the tower, but my real world tests were done side by side so hopefully that helps you. Don't take my advice though, go to your nearest store and run the comparison yourself!
Hope this helps!

No, EVO 3D has 8660 and Sensation has 8260. The difference is that 8660 is CDMA and WiMax? (I heard WiMax requires a separate radio so I'm not sure)

[Q] have the inspire 4G and the Desire HD the same radio?

Since the Inspire 4G and the Desire HD are practically the same device. I wonder if they use the same radio. if they do, I think radio bands could be unlocked to work with a least 850/900/1900/2100MHZ WCDMA bands since the Inspire work on 850/900 and the Desire on 900/2100.

Like darunion said search. It's like this radios and Rils are different per Rom there is no better one and its all depends where u live and its a trial and error. Personal I never flash radio or Rils very often because each Rom comes with the matching ones. 2nd look in the sticky for the inspire thread for radios and if needed. 3rd desire hd is 99.9999999999% the same but UK but you can flash roms from the desire hd thread but search and search this has been talked 100+ billions of times.
Before you start flashing radios make a backup of what you have just in case.

ya the flashable radios are just firmware files. the frequency range that the qualcomm chip is using is set at the manufacturer. it cannot be changed, unless someone here works for qualcomm and can help out

Actually you don't need to work for Qualcomm to change it. I asked about Inspire and Desire Radio chip because I have a Droid Bionic which is "LTE-CDMA". but since it uses the Qualcomm MDM6600 radio chip which is CDMA/GSM capable, but GSM part is desactivated by Verizon. So searching in the Droid Bionic forum I could find the way to activate the GSM radio, turning the Droid bionic into a Global GSM smartphone.
So, I think the Inspire and the Desired has built in with the same Radio chip, but with certain WCDMA bands activated/desactivated depending on the model.
I just wanted to know the radio chip model, since I couldn't find it searching the web. I bet they use the same radio and there must be a way to activate all bands..

In fact is the same chipset: Qualcomm MSM8255. I am using the ARHD and is all the same for both of them: Radio and Roms. The thing is that the Desire HD has the 900/2100 UMTS bands enabled, and the Inspire the 850/1900.
According to the internet the Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset handle all UMTS bands but It can only have 3 of them enabled. So I am just interested in the 850/900 bands. So if I found a way to change the radio basebands I could enable the 900 band to my Inspire. But I couldn't find anything about it in the Web..

uh.. but the Desire HD is not from AT&T.
I can't find information about the QSD8255 in the qualcomm website neither the web, just some websites that claim the Desire HD also have it too..what a contradiction in the web..
NM8PD98120 is the FCC ID of the inspire if you want to do more digging.
you also have to consider, it may not even allow frequency changes from any kind of software side. Without a datasheet (which qualcomm wont allow public view) you wont know what components youll have to change out on the board to open up those additional ranges. And with phones having such a small life span (~2yrs till trade ins) not many are going to reverse engineer something they will replace soon.
which you could learn what to tinker with if you had both motherboards side by side and probed the pins
Hi dennis5pia,
Wondering if you had any luck in getting 850/1900 out of your Desire HD?
I know of 2 different Desire HD models the
1) A9191 (with 900/2100) http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2598&view=1&c=htc_desire_hd_a9191_htc_ace
2) A9192 (850/1900) http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=2727&view=1&c=htc_inspire_4g_a9192_htc_stallion
I'm wanting to see if I can modify my A9191 to become a A9192.
Qualcomm's website doesn't even mention the A9192, but looking at the specs it certainly shares a lot with each other - including the same MSM8255
Whilst not as big a "jump" from a Desire HD to an Inspire 4G, I'd be happy just to get 3G on our Telstra NextG (850) network here in Australia.
Keen to know if anyone else has investigated changing between the 2 Desire HD models or successfully done this?
Kind Regards,
David.

I have the Inspire 4G not the Desire HD. Anyway there is a Desire HD from Telus (I think) that is a9192 and 850/900.
I couldn't be able to enable any other WCDMA band to my device. All I know is that most of the smartphone has a radiochip that can handle all WCDMA bands, but for hardware limitations they couldn't have all of them active or the carrier just lock some bands.
the MSM8255 handle all WCDMA bands but can only have 3 of them enable, but carrieres just enable 2 of them.
Hi, Thanks for the quick reply.
Yes I'm aware of other providers that have the A9192, but don't really want to go to the trouble of selling my A9191 phone & then buy a A9192 - would be great if I could just flash a new firmware onto the phone to switch off / remove the 900/2100 & then switch on the 850/1900 band - turning mine into a A9192.
So, whilst you haven't had any luck with your Inspire 4g do you know if anyone has been able to unlock / change bands on any of these HTC phones where the Qualcomm chipset supports other bands?
Best Regards,
David.

I haven't had any luck on this. I don't know anyone who had unlocked/changed/enabled bands on this phones.
I also found out that the Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon can handle 42Mbps but our phones only support 14.4Mbps. Companies just fool us..
Here is a link to a hardware mod site, that may be able to help.
I'll follow up with them & let you know if I have any luck.
