Nice
Would it be difficult to make it work on froyo fw?
Edit : how is it different from your precedent boot anim mod?
Re-edit : this one allows you to make any custom bootanim while the previous one was only for replacing SGSL bootanim by the unmodified SGS one, isn't it?
And the part 0 is the first sequence played one time, then the part1 is played in loop, that's correct?
Edit again : I've found my response and more here : [TUTORIAL]How to make your own boot animations (with sound if you want)
Some other related links :
- Boot animation collection from SGS section
- Boot animation preview (for Windows, with the ability to export a boot animation as an animated GIF, also containing some bootanim)
- Another boot animation previewer (also for Windows)
Let's bootanim port & creation start!

You Are Right
The precedent boot anim mod was the unmodified version of SGS
You can use any bootanimation provided in any website
but rename it to sanim.zip and also check the desc.txt
At this Stage You Can't Use The Sound files
The Code Is not meant to play Audio Files
It is a script Not The Original File
I will Look Into It For Enabling Sound
Edit: I don't Have Froyo Firmware For Testing. That Why I am Not Porting It To Froyo.
No Need To Add Sound In The Way specified
The Easy Way is To Replace The
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav With Your Sound File
Note : File Must Be In .WAV Format

Maybe I can adapt it, or at least try

It is very simple...open the Framework-res.apk with 7zip. under asset/font folder you need to place your desire font. but remember, font file (.ttf) should be proper size & change the name as it is there. if you have not light & reguler ver for same font, just rename SoMALight.ttf & SoMARegular.ttf the same font & place it....Voila ...you have your own clock font....
Hope this will help you....

Hello
I tried to customize your Full Dark theme, by replacing the lockscreen font clock, and by replacing some .png in framework-res/dawable-hdpi but when I try to install the new ZIP theme with xrecovery, it fails.
Is there a special way to modify the ZIP/apk files ?
My method is :
- extraction of framework-res.apk from Full Dark ZIP file
- renaming of framework-res.apk into framework-res.apk.zip
- extraction of drawable-hdpi directory
- modification of png files into that extracted directory
- replacement of the original drawable-hdpi directory in framework-res.apk.zip, by the new one
- renaming of framework-res.apk.zip into framework-res.apk
- replacement of the original framework-res.apk of your Full Dark ZIP file, by the new one
Thanks folks. Does anyone care to type out a guide/instructions on how to get this working, for someone who is a bit of a newbie? I do have a rooted x10 with all the latest updates.
It look good... i'll try it...
Good Work... and thank for this share...

Here's the boot animation I created (attached). It's not a CWM flashable .zip, so you'll need to change the name to bootanimation.zip and either need to push it to /data/local through ADB, or use a File Explorer with root access to put in in /data/local (or if you're running a stock rooted ROM you'll need to rename it to ATT_Bootanimation.zip and put it in /system/customize/resource. It was just a .gif I found with a quick google search, and with the help of Wolf_2 finally got working properly. I take no credit for anything but putting it together as a boot animation

Original thread request:
OK, I'm trying to create my first boot animation, and so far have made some good progress, but now I'm stuck. I found an animated .gif of the Android Robot peeing on an Apple, and ripped the photos out of it, and made them .png files. I kept the file structure, created my new .zip following the guide here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=942976), replaced bootanimation.zip in data/local, and changed permissions. Now when I boot up I see the HTC screen for about 15 seconds, then it goes to my animation just like it should, however here's my problem...
My animation consists of 17 images, and it flies through these images in about 5 seconds, then just sits on the last image. How can I either slow this animation down, or get it to keep looping? Here's what's in my desc.txt:
480 800 15p 1 1 android
I tried changing the second 1 to a 0 (as I saw somewhere else this would cause it to loop infinitely), but it didn't. Any ideas??

The 15 in your text stands for 15 fps, so with only 17 images to display it is going to fly through it. You should create more frames. You could also make the second folder for the loop, having a part0 and part1 folder in your zipped folder. The part0 folder would be the play through and the part1 folder would contain the loop. I have included my text document so that you can see the way I did it. I have also provided a link to a thread that helped me understand what needed to be done.

OK, I'll play around with the part0 and part1 folders. I left it the way it was when I pulled it and it only had an android folder, so I didn't know if this would be necessary or not. Thanks for the references!
Edit: You are awesome. I left part0 folder empty and put all my .png pics in part1, used your desc.txt exactly as it was, and it's doing exactly what I want it to! That was kind of fun, and now I can watch the MAC Apple getting peed on by the Android Robot when I start my phone. I've attached it if anyone's interested. I am not the artist, I found the animated .gif online, so no credit to me for that
Now - next question. If I put a different series of pictures in part 0, will this replace the HTC screen I see, or just create an additional boot image?
It will just create the boot animation. I am still trying to figure out where that HTC screen is located so that I can get rid of it or change it. As a note, just remember that the numbering sequence in the second folder has to continue from where the first folder left off. As an example, if the frames in the first folder finish with 00030, then the second folder would start with 00031 and continue. Glad that helped you.

If it's anything like the Captivate the HTC screen is in the kernel You'll have to decompile it.
Irs421: "If it's anything like the Captivate the HTC screen is in the kernel You'll have to decompile it."
I know it's hiding somewhere. TPC and I started working on themes, so since everything has been taken apart he or I will probably come across it eventually.
If you find out I would like to know to, so I can make a matching black htc splash screen. I know some one flashed it as an img through adb. Is there a way to see where exactly it is pushing it to?
I am not sure since I did not know about that adb push. I want to get rid of that screen also. When I find it I will let you know. There is just so much to go through and test. It's going to take a while.
You can use Android Flasher to replace the boot image, it's a really simple one click method.

Hey all, I snagged some sweet Helix Android boot animations from THIS thread.

All I did was download the .zip files and extract the actual boot animations. What you need to do is download the TMUS_bootanimation.zip file and place it in your /system/customize/resource folder and it will replace the existing boot animation. Then long-press on the file and change permissions to rw-r--r-- (hopefully that makes sense if you done this before.) That's all you need to do. Then reboot and enjoy!
Files:
Red Helix Boot Animation
Green Helix Boot Animation
11/11/11
I decided to update the green boot animation cause I reinstalled it on my phone - I lowered the FPS from 45 to 20 so it runs really smooth and nice. Here's the link:
http://www.multiupload.com/T046GTG8E4
good find!!!
I was using the "Sky Raider" from UOT Kitchen but I'm switching to the Red Helix right now
Hey I really like the Red Helix. However, it seems to run through the animation sequence awfully fast on my phone (way faster then is displayed when viewing the OP through the link you provided).
pmcqueen posted White Nexus boot animation and noted that you could: "modify how fast it goes by changing the third value (framerate) in the desc.txt file"
I tried that earlier today on a bootanimation.zip that I downloaded from UOT Kitchen. I extracted the desc.txt file from the zip, edited it in Notepad++ by just changing the 3rd number to a lower number and then replacing the original desc.txt file in the zip and it worked great.
For some reason the same method doesn't work on the Helix bootanimation though. I extracted the desc.txt, changed the fps from 45 to 30 and replaced the desc.txt in the zip file and then proceeded to replace the current boot animation with this one following these steps posted by pmcqueen:
"Instructions for installation:
(using file explorer like root explorer)
download the zip, place on sd card.
find the zip in your file browser and move it to /system/customize/resource/ (overwrite existing bootanimation file)
change permissions to rw-r--r-- (read/write owner, read for group/others)"
Instead of getting a slower frame though, I just get black screen during the time when I should be seeing boot animation.
Is there something different about this file that I can't change the framerate or am I not doing this correctly?

My guess is that you compressed desc.txt when you made the changes. Make sure you aren't compressing any of the files in the bootanimation or you'll get the black screen. If you use winrar (or any other compressed archive viewer) it should tell you whether or not the file is compressed. Make sure any changes you make are put back in the archive as "store only" (ie no compression). Good luck!

Thanks I did get to work.
I ended up slowing the Red Helix down to 20 FPS and it's running through the boot sequence at a good speed now. It seems like every boot animation I've tried so far runs faster than intended on my phone though which I find strange.
Yeah I noticed that, too. I wonder if it's because our phone is actually faster at processing the graphics and that's why it seems so fast specifically on this phone? When I get some time I'll slow them both down and add a link. Thanks for your input!

Hey I just tried downloading the red helix animation and it appears the file is the blue animation instead. you might wanna either fix the link or relabel the link and screen shot

WARNING: I am NOT responsible if you damage your device!
Hi i9003-Community,
I have created a new bootanimation for our i9003 with it's native 480x800px. It's colors are kept in a black and ICS-blue colored style. The animation is made out of two parts, that normally should roughly fit the time our device needs to boot up. I also have attached a matching bootlogo to make the fake boot sequence look even more complete. I hope you enjoy my work. Any feedback is very welcome.
Loading Bar Bootanimation (ICS-Blue)The animation is split into two parts:
A loading bar that is slowly filling (left picture)
Full loading bar with wait animation (right picture)

Note to installation of bootanimation with changed speeds:
The file "bootanimation - speed <mult>x.zip" has to be renamed to "bootanimation.zip" before you install the animation
Change-Log:
22.01.12 - v1.1
added some nice extra animation
more frames
although the animation is much bigger now I did not face any longer boot times
added device name to animation
made loading bar look a bit better
thanks to HeathenMan for optimizing the image size
Installation for UtterChaos Kernel and amit.bagaria's CF-Root and CWM5 Kernel:
Push the attached zip file renamed to bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ and replace the original bootanimation.zip
Don't forget to create a backup!!
Loading Bar Bootlogo (ICS-Blue)
Change-Log:
22.01.12 - v1.1
added horizontal line as in animation to device name
made loading bar look a bit better
Installation for UtterChaos Kernel:
First, if not already done you need to enable custom bootlogos (as written here):
Download the modifier-XXKPQ-bootlogo.tar from above linked post and check it's md5 hash to make sure that the file is not damaged
Reboot into download mode
Connect your device via USB and start ODIN
Flash the downloaded file as PDA
Now flash UC-Kernel
On your device open the folder /mnt/.lfs/ with RootExplorer and create a backup of your logo.jpg.
(or "adb pull /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg")
Extract the attached zip and replace the original logo.jpg with the new image.
(or "adb push path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg")
Installation for amit.bagaria's CF-Root and CWM5 Kernel:
First, if not already done you need to enable custom bootlogos (as written here):
Download the Extra Version of amit's CF-Root from here
Reboot into download mode
Connect your device via USB and start ODIN
Flash the downloaded file as PDA
On your device open the folder /mnt/.lfs/ with RootExplorer and create a backup of your logo.jpg, if there is one.
(or "adb pull /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg")
Extract the attached zip and replace the original logo.jpg with the new image.
(or "adb push path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg")
For other Kernels:
I do not know if this also works with other Kernels, search in your Kernels thread if it supports custom bootlogos. If it does follow the instructions in this thread to enable and install an custom bootlogo.
Thanks, it looks really good, problem is my phone is in service center hehehe
Nice work buddy
Thank you guys.
Attached a bootlogo to OP
Interesting .Congratulations .
I flashed the cf-root and have not seen the original animation.
If I do not see your animation even
how do I do?
i cant edit anything under mnt/.lfs if i try copy paste i get error msg disk full copy error and all files inside of folder dissapeared,i tried deleting original logo.jpg says successfull but file is back after re opening folder, animation is working.
sir can you go at doom's kernel thread and you may see there the instruction on how to change the boot logo...
@ Taraen
great work buddy

amit's CF-Root? Have you deactivated the bootanimation with tools like Blade Buddy that set debug.sf.nobootanimation = 1?

Do you have a Kernel that has enabled custom bootlogos? Did you mount as read/write first?

Then you're phone is booting up faster than mine.

I edited the OP to redo layout and make the installation instructions for the bootlogo more detailed.
Good one!
Loved it!
Will Flash it when the MIUI thingy is done

Hmm, I could you try amit's CF-Root or UC-Kernel? I really don't have any idea what causes the problem, if it's kernel related or a system setting.

Could you please edit your post so that you don't quote the whole OP? That makes the thread so hard to read.
The zip with the bootanimation contains a file called desc.txt
Code:
480 800 5
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
The number in the first line, last column describes the speed the animation is played with. I decreased it from 30 to 5, but if that is too slow for your phone you can increase the number to some value you like.
I will now upload two other versions of the bootanimation with 1,5x and 2x speed of the original.
Taraen
man at speed 10 it is perfect many thanks
Man, I'm working on a rom. Can I use this bootanimation as default for it? Thanks!
Nexus One Retail Boot Animation - (ICS) Revised
What is it?
This is a modified CM5 boot animation, which itself is a modified version of the stock boot animation that the retail Nexus One devices have been shipped with.
What i changed?
To match my idea of an ICS version of the stock animation, i removed the CM Logo from the CM5 boot animation and made slightly changes to the base color to match the correct blue used in ICS.

How does it look?
Basically this is a stock Nexus One boot animation - with a touch of Ice Cream Sandwich.
Part0 of Boot animation:
Part1 of Boot animation (actual loop):
How to use?
To use it, use ADB to push the attached ZIP onto your device as follows:
Backup original
Code:
adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Push new
Code:
adb remount
adb push /local/path/to/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
NOTE:
If you use a file explorer to copy files, or type in the commands (instead of c+p), make sure you change the name of the ZIP from bootanimation_passion_ics.zip to bootanimation.zip! The boot script is looking for /system/media/bootanimation.zip. If you have /system/media/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip (or anything else) it won't work!
UPDATE / MIUI MTZ VERSION
At request i created a mtz version of the boot animation. I've never used MIUI and never came accross this mtz file format before. All i did was following the suggestion i found here on XDA; Open an existing mtz file with 7zip and replacing the zip. I did not tested that version. Please let me know if it works.
Very cool! How long did that take you?

all together, round about half an hour
Very nice thanks.
I tried this last night and it didn't work
I downloaded the file, I used RootExplorer to removed the stock boot animation from the folder you suggested (running ICS ROM) and then I placed the new zip you created into the said folder.
When I reboot, my new boot animation (it did change) is a simple "Android" that has a silver "flash" look as if its shimmering.
Any suggestions?

First idea: Have you changed the name of the ZIP from bootanimation_passion_ics.zip to bootanimation.zip (maybe you forgot it, as you used a root explorer rather than copy the commands)? The boot script is looking for /system/media/bootanimation.zip. If you have /system/media/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip (or anything else) it won't work.

A) What phone model is it?
B) Have you tried to place the zip into /system/media anyway? And if not, what happens when you try that?

A. Nexus one (ch3ky's oxygen1mod)
B. Yea i placed it /system/media . Still its the same. No animations.
I tried it in /system/bin. No change again.
PS: The default bootanimation that i removed from /system/bin had no extension. I even tried to place it back as it was originally. Still the same mate

I can't find the oxygen1mod sources right away. but some roms will need the file in /local/data/bootanimation So you could try:
Code:
adb shell mkdir /data/local/bootanimation
adb push bootanimation_passion_ics.zip /data/local/bootanimation
adb reboot
Alternatively i found this thread, that might help (your ROM needs init.d support for that solution!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641189
Tried as u sed. But still the same.
Dev asked to jus place it in /system/media. No effect for that aswell.
While trying for this i once removed the bootanimation file from /system/bin and placed it later. Could that be the issue???

Works perfectly for me, thank you !
That's exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks! ... I dont like the boot animation that comes with my actual ROM....
@Bexton: Thank you for the animation file. I did hit the Thanks button . I assume that I will have to push the revised bootanimation every time I flashed a new ROM, right?
Very very nice thank u
