WARNING: I am NOT responsible if you damage your device!
Hi i9003-Community,
I have created a new bootanimation for our i9003 with it's native 480x800px. It's colors are kept in a black and ICS-blue colored style. The animation is made out of two parts, that normally should roughly fit the time our device needs to boot up. I also have attached a matching bootlogo to make the fake boot sequence look even more complete. I hope you enjoy my work. Any feedback is very welcome.
Loading Bar Bootanimation (ICS-Blue)The animation is split into two parts:
A loading bar that is slowly filling (left picture)
Full loading bar with wait animation (right picture)

Note to installation of bootanimation with changed speeds:
The file "bootanimation - speed <mult>x.zip" has to be renamed to "bootanimation.zip" before you install the animation
Change-Log:
22.01.12 - v1.1
added some nice extra animation
more frames
although the animation is much bigger now I did not face any longer boot times
added device name to animation
made loading bar look a bit better
thanks to HeathenMan for optimizing the image size
Installation for UtterChaos Kernel and amit.bagaria's CF-Root and CWM5 Kernel:
Push the attached zip file renamed to bootanimation.zip to /system/media/ and replace the original bootanimation.zip
Don't forget to create a backup!!
Loading Bar Bootlogo (ICS-Blue)
Change-Log:
22.01.12 - v1.1
added horizontal line as in animation to device name
made loading bar look a bit better
Installation for UtterChaos Kernel:
First, if not already done you need to enable custom bootlogos (as written here):
Download the modifier-XXKPQ-bootlogo.tar from above linked post and check it's md5 hash to make sure that the file is not damaged
Reboot into download mode
Connect your device via USB and start ODIN
Flash the downloaded file as PDA
Now flash UC-Kernel
On your device open the folder /mnt/.lfs/ with RootExplorer and create a backup of your logo.jpg.
(or "adb pull /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg")
Extract the attached zip and replace the original logo.jpg with the new image.
(or "adb push path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg")
Installation for amit.bagaria's CF-Root and CWM5 Kernel:
First, if not already done you need to enable custom bootlogos (as written here):
Download the Extra Version of amit's CF-Root from here
Reboot into download mode
Connect your device via USB and start ODIN
Flash the downloaded file as PDA
On your device open the folder /mnt/.lfs/ with RootExplorer and create a backup of your logo.jpg, if there is one.
(or "adb pull /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg")
Extract the attached zip and replace the original logo.jpg with the new image.
(or "adb push path/on/your/computer/logo.jpg /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg")
For other Kernels:
I do not know if this also works with other Kernels, search in your Kernels thread if it supports custom bootlogos. If it does follow the instructions in this thread to enable and install an custom bootlogo.
Thanks, it looks really good, problem is my phone is in service center hehehe
Nice work buddy
Thank you guys.
Attached a bootlogo to OP
Interesting .Congratulations .
I flashed the cf-root and have not seen the original animation.
If I do not see your animation even
how do I do?
i cant edit anything under mnt/.lfs if i try copy paste i get error msg disk full copy error and all files inside of folder dissapeared,i tried deleting original logo.jpg says successfull but file is back after re opening folder, animation is working.
sir can you go at doom's kernel thread and you may see there the instruction on how to change the boot logo...

amit's CF-Root? Have you deactivated the bootanimation with tools like Blade Buddy that set debug.sf.nobootanimation = 1?

Do you have a Kernel that has enabled custom bootlogos? Did you mount as read/write first?

No, I used to root for ganeshbiyer xxkpq.
How do I reactivate the boot loader?

Hmm, I could you try amit's CF-Root or UC-Kernel? I really don't have any idea what causes the problem, if it's kernel related or a system setting.

Could you please edit your post so that you don't quote the whole OP? That makes the thread so hard to read.
The zip with the bootanimation contains a file called desc.txt
Code:
480 800 5
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
The number in the first line, last column describes the speed the animation is played with. I decreased it from 30 to 5, but if that is too slow for your phone you can increase the number to some value you like.
I will now upload two other versions of the bootanimation with 1,5x and 2x speed of the original.
Taraen
man at speed 10 it is perfect many thanks
Man, I'm working on a rom. Can I use this bootanimation as default for it? Thanks!

The status bar images and icons from the Desire ROM released by MoDaCo.
A modified framework-res.apk/res/layout/status_bar.xml to make the notification text and other text that appears in the status bar white instead of black.
A modified services.jar to make the date and time text appear white instead of black.

Flatter Pull Down Menu
This will give you a flatter pull down menu. It replaces where the service provider is shown with a re-sampling of the statusbar_background.9.png; it also replaces the status_bar_background.png image with one from JACHero 2.63; finally, it replaces status_bar_close_on.9.png with a less glossy (darker and flatter) version of the current one. While I personally think this looks a lot better than the stock images, I am including it as a morph so to keep the actual mod itself completely from the Desire ROM. Also, with it being a simple morph, it should work with any ROM with framework-res.apk in /system/framework/.

Alternate status_bar_background.png
Changes the white notification background image to the one in the flat_desire morph, but keeps the glossy look of stock Desire.

Changes the white notification background image to the one in NexTHEME. Thank you manup456 for the image.

Transparent status_bar_background.png
Makes the notification pull down menu background transparent.

H icons to 3G icons
This will make the H icons into the 3G icons from the Desire ROM.

52 downloads and no one has said it hasn't worked. People are a lot more prone to reply to something not working then to something working.
"screen shot' in the OP soon. Taken from here from the first screen shot shown and everything minus the status bar edited out. Not that hard to visualize.
I´m sure yu are right...
it´s just, this forum, one doesn´t dare to ask to many questions..
The thing is tho, even if it don't work, it's a 45 second fix to be back up and running if you followed directions.
45 second fix jesus-for you!!!
but for me,as a noob....
1.) I tried this:
Flash this in recovery.
http://android-theme-minus.googlecod...succesion2.zip
-> my device doesnt want to flash it.
2.) then tried this from the other post:
How to install:
1) Nandroid
2) Rename download from services02.zip to services.jar
3) Connect phone to computer.
4) adb push services.jar /system/framework
-> it says:
************
so if you are used to all those command, I envy you...but i fail and cannot find a manual for that (although there are millieons of threads..)

I put up a guide on how to use metamorph in the first post (for the first download). I re-signed the file and reuploaded to the same link (the second download) so try downloading it again and flashing it in recovery, and if you cannot flash it, then tell me the exact error it is giving you.
Also, you got that error because you didn't put a space between services.jar and /system/framework/. If you want to push the file, then take the services.jar out of the .zip in the first post and do the following.
Code:
adb remount
adb push services.jar /system/framework/services.jar
adb shell reboot

Your ADB either isn't set up correctly, or you may try
Code:
adb remount
My working directory is:
Code:
C:\android-sdk-windows\tools
That was the default one setup by the SDK

Support XXKPE Boot Also
Any Custom Boot Animation Can Be Used For Our Phone Just Like Any Custom Firmware
Dont Forget To Backup First
I Have Attached The Custom Booting.zip File

2) samsungani
NOTE : Files Should Be Executable
ie. Permission should be rwxr_xr_x (r=read, w=write, x= executable)
These Two Files Have to be copied to /system/bin With Root Explorer Or Any Thing Like That
The Next File I am Attaching Is sanim.zip
sanim.zip file must be copied To /system/media
The sanim contains the PNG files Which Can be edited As your will
Important Note::
The Size Of The PNG files(Resolution) Must be specified in the desc.txt
480 800 10
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
Here 480 800 is the resolution of the files used here

Nice
Would it be difficult to make it work on froyo fw?
Edit : how is it different from your precedent boot anim mod?
Re-edit : this one allows you to make any custom bootanim while the previous one was only for replacing SGSL bootanim by the unmodified SGS one, isn't it?
And the part 0 is the first sequence played one time, then the part1 is played in loop, that's correct?
Edit again : I've found my response and more here : [TUTORIAL]How to make your own boot animations (with sound if you want)
Some other related links :
- Boot animation collection from SGS section
- Boot animation preview (for Windows, with the ability to export a boot animation as an animated GIF, also containing some bootanim)
- Another boot animation previewer (also for Windows)

You Are Right
The precedent boot anim mod was the unmodified version of SGS
You can use any bootanimation provided in any website
but rename it to sanim.zip and also check the desc.txt
At this Stage You Can't Use The Sound files
The Code Is not meant to play Audio Files
It is a script Not The Original File
I will Look Into It For Enabling Sound
Edit: I don't Have Froyo Firmware For Testing. That Why I am Not Porting It To Froyo.
No Need To Add Sound In The Way specified
The Easy Way is To Replace The
/system/etc/PowerOn.wav With Your Sound File
Note : File Must Be In .WAV Format

First, you have to have UC-Kernel on your phone. Do not flash anything below if you are on different kernel.
UC-Kernel can be found here.
Read below on "how to have your own custom boot logo"

How to change bootlogo/bootscreen
Our kernel (v03 onwards) comes with its own bootlogo/bootscreen... but to enable that bootlogo/bootscreen u need to separately flash a file via ODIN...
This basically is based on what Skin1980 had posted to modify bootlogo...
[ how to enable loading custom bootlogo ]
first download modifier-XXKPQ-bootlogo.tar
check the md5hash of the file to ensure file integrity
reboot device into Download mode
connect to PC via USB cable
start ODIN
make sure that device is detected
click on PDA and select the file u downloaded
now click start
after flashing is successful the device will reboot
now flash our kernel!
[ how to have ur own custom bootlogo ]
this can be done ONLY after u flash the modifier
u need a 480x800 image and it has to be in JPEG format
the file should be called as logo.jpg and has to be saved in /mnt/.lfs/
thats it reboot device to see ur own logo
[ how to disable loading custom bootlogo ]
first download stock-XXKPQ-bootlogo.tar
check the md5hash of the file to ensure file integrity
reboot device into Download mode
connect to PC via USB cable
start ODIN
make sure that device is detected
click on PDA and select the file u downloaded
now click start
after flashing is successful the device will reboot
now custom bootlogo will be disabled!
[ download links ]
Modifier XXKPQ
MD5HASH: fd95a5097ec37911023b23df08f53fa4
Stock XXKPQ
MD5HASH: 0a2a8a45c4b44cbbf170e3b85ff748dd
[ troubleshooting ]
at first u may need to reboot 2 or 3 times to see our custom bootlogo
if even after flashing the modifier u are unable to see our custom bootlogo OR if u want to revert back to our bootlogo; then:
once device boots start RootExplorer
go to the folder /data/local/tmp/
delete the file uckernelbootlogo
reboot device
this will force the kernel to push our logo to /mnt/.lfs/
Click to collapse
Tips:
1. its /mnt/.lfs/ not /mnt/.ifs/
2. You can use the move command in terminal emulator since .lfs is hidden
3. Save any .jpg to sdcard as "logo.jpg"
4. mv /sdcard/logo.jpg /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg
5. Once logo.jpg is in .lfs, it seems it cannot be overwritten, you need to flash the modification again if you want to change boot screens.
Sir wheres the DL link..
nice work man
You can right click and save the pics above directly and use them as logo.jpg
STEP 1: Save the images and put them /mnt/.lfs/logo.jpg
STEP 2: Thanks inciongd for the awesome screens!!
superb buddy...

Delete the file /data/local/tmp/uckernelbootlogo
Reboot (a few times, till stock boot logo is pushed by kernel)
Then place the new boot logo.jpg to /mnt/.lfs/
Reboot

are you trying to do this on cm7 like me? if so, it's a bit of work to do it 'cause you have to flash other fw to do this and go back to cm7. if you're not, are you flashing the "extra" cfroot from the universal thread? if so, are you getting the image noise like you're supposed to?

To change bootlogo again without flashing,
Delete the file /data/local/tmp/uckernelbootlogo
Reboot (a few times, till stock boot logo is pushed by kernel)
Then place the new boot logo.jpg to /mnt/.lfs/
Reboot

this must only work on stock fw, since on cm7 all I see in that folder is immvibed.lck

Nexus One Retail Boot Animation - (ICS) Revised
What is it?
This is a modified CM5 boot animation, which itself is a modified version of the stock boot animation that the retail Nexus One devices have been shipped with.
What i changed?
To match my idea of an ICS version of the stock animation, i removed the CM Logo from the CM5 boot animation and made slightly changes to the base color to match the correct blue used in ICS.

How does it look?
Basically this is a stock Nexus One boot animation - with a touch of Ice Cream Sandwich.
Part0 of Boot animation:
Part1 of Boot animation (actual loop):
How to use?
To use it, use ADB to push the attached ZIP onto your device as follows:
Backup original
Code:
adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip
Push new
Code:
adb remount
adb push /local/path/to/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip /system/media/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
NOTE:
If you use a file explorer to copy files, or type in the commands (instead of c+p), make sure you change the name of the ZIP from bootanimation_passion_ics.zip to bootanimation.zip! The boot script is looking for /system/media/bootanimation.zip. If you have /system/media/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip (or anything else) it won't work!
UPDATE / MIUI MTZ VERSION
At request i created a mtz version of the boot animation. I've never used MIUI and never came accross this mtz file format before. All i did was following the suggestion i found here on XDA; Open an existing mtz file with 7zip and replacing the zip. I did not tested that version. Please let me know if it works.
Very cool! How long did that take you?

all together, round about half an hour
Very nice thanks.
I tried this last night and it didn't work
I downloaded the file, I used RootExplorer to removed the stock boot animation from the folder you suggested (running ICS ROM) and then I placed the new zip you created into the said folder.
When I reboot, my new boot animation (it did change) is a simple "Android" that has a silver "flash" look as if its shimmering.
Any suggestions?

First idea: Have you changed the name of the ZIP from bootanimation_passion_ics.zip to bootanimation.zip (maybe you forgot it, as you used a root explorer rather than copy the commands)? The boot script is looking for /system/media/bootanimation.zip. If you have /system/media/bootanimation_passion_ics.zip (or anything else) it won't work.

A) What phone model is it?
B) Have you tried to place the zip into /system/media anyway? And if not, what happens when you try that?

A. Nexus one (ch3ky's oxygen1mod)
B. Yea i placed it /system/media . Still its the same. No animations.
I tried it in /system/bin. No change again.
PS: The default bootanimation that i removed from /system/bin had no extension. I even tried to place it back as it was originally. Still the same mate

I can't find the oxygen1mod sources right away. but some roms will need the file in /local/data/bootanimation So you could try:
Code:
adb shell mkdir /data/local/bootanimation
adb push bootanimation_passion_ics.zip /data/local/bootanimation
adb reboot
Alternatively i found this thread, that might help (your ROM needs init.d support for that solution!) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641189
Tried as u sed. But still the same.
Dev asked to jus place it in /system/media. No effect for that aswell.
While trying for this i once removed the bootanimation file from /system/bin and placed it later. Could that be the issue???

Works perfectly for me, thank you !
That's exactly what I was looking for!! Thanks! ... I dont like the boot animation that comes with my actual ROM....
@Bexton: Thank you for the animation file. I did hit the Thanks button . I assume that I will have to push the revised bootanimation every time I flashed a new ROM, right?
Very very nice thank u

Right......
This thread will show you how to do a couple things.
a) Install a custom boot animation.
b) Randomize your boot animation so each time you reboot, you get a different boot animation (only available with pro version of the app I use).
I'll be updating the thread every few days with new animations until I get a pretty good library. If I'm really super motivated, I might accept boot animation requests. Otherwise, all you need is the boot animation factory linked at the bottom of this thread.
REQUIREMENTS:
-You need to be rooted.
-You need an unlocked bootloader (only if AT&T or Verizon).
-You need a kernel that supports custom boot animation (Faux, Ktoonsez, any AOSP kernel - I'm currently using SlimBean 5.6).
-You *might need to have an AOSP ROM. I have not tried stock rooted TouchWiz yet.
Okay, here's how you do custom boot animations!!!
1) Install ROM Toolbox Lite (consider upgrading to the pro version).
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...wyLDEsImNvbS5qcnVtbXkubGliZXJ0eS50b29sYm94Il0.
*Note, there are other ways to install boot animations, but those methods are not supported in this thread.
2) Copy the boot animation file(s) to your internal or external SD card. It doesn't matter which. Nor does it matter what folder you put them into.
3) Open ROM Toolbox Lite:
4) Close out of the disclaimer:
5) From the main menu, just swipe your finger to scroll to the right:
6) Now you're at the Interface tab. Click on Boot Animations:
7) You can click on "later" to not upgrade. But I do recommend upgrading. This is a VERY cool app:
8) Click "OK" to the disclaimer:
9) From the "Server" tab, you can download boot animations. But you don't want to, because none of them are 1080x1920 and will look "small" on your screen:
10) Instead, swipe to the right so you an view the "Randomize" tab. Read the info if you like:
11) Now swipe to the left to the "Local" tab. And navigate to the folder where you stored your boot animations that you have downloaded from this thread:
INSTALLING A SINGLE BOOT ANIMATION FROM THE FREE VERSION OF ROM TOOLBOX:
1) Single-click on any boot animation you see in this folder:
2) Click on "Install".
3) Reboot phone and on the first (OR SECOND) reboot, you should see your boot animation and it should fill the 1080x1920 screen.
INSTALLING RANDOM BOOT ANIMATIONS IF YOU UPGRADED TO THE PRO VERSION OF ROM TOOLBOX:
1) At the "Randomize" tab, move the sider to the "On" position (top right of screen):
2) Swipe left to the "Local" tab:
3) Single-click a boot animation and select the "Add to randomizer" option (repeat for each boot animation you want):
4) If you're on the free version of ROM Toolbox, you'll be prompted to upgrade. Select either "Unlock boot randomizer" or "ROM Toolbox Pro". The Pro version is more expensive, but it unlocks every option the app has. And there are lots of cool options. Choice is up to you:
5) Since I already paid for the pro version, I installed that:
6) Now click on "open":
7) Go through the steps again and grant Root Permissions when prompted (your Superuser request may be different looking than mine):
8) Ignore the disclaimer:
9) When you finish adding boot animations to the randomizer, your "Randomize" tab will look similar to this. Now you're ready to reboot over and over and over and enjoy all your new boot animations!
Thank you to JaeKar99 for creating or sourcing all the boot animations that I modified to work in 1080x1920 resolution for our Galaxy S4 phones.

Thank you to jsho31 on XDA for pointing me to ROM Toolbox (which I already had but didn't realize it had the boot animation randomizer - which is awesome!)

Hey, you're right. I just checked and it looks like speedo, spyro and warpvortexr are all corrupted files. I'll re-do them in the next couple-days and re-upload.

Not working for you?
Finally found the solution in a thread by anbech, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897969
Use the CWM_CustomBootanimation_421_Enable.zip. It's for the S3, but works fine on the S4.
Just because the kernel supports it doesn't mean the system does. This flashes the file "bootanimation" to the /system/bin folder. That file is already there, so I made a copy of the existing one before overwriting it with this (just in case).
I'm not using ROM Toolbox, I just copy my animation (bootanimation.zip) to the /system/media folder since I don't change it often, but it should work.
The link above also has a good tutorial on making boot animations.
By the way, I'm using agat's kernel.
