Hey, I got tired of waiting for Motorola's non existant software updates and decide to install the US update with the help of the 5 step post that is in the development forum(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089695). I then tried to connect my camera to the Xoom but it would not detect it in the Gallery app. I'm not doing anything wrong, I've got PTP mode on the camera, got a USB-host cable and the Xoom is also detecting the camera when I check the dmesg log. So I was wondering if anybody here had a european Xoom with "hacked" 3.1 update could try connecting a camera with PTP to the Xoom and see if it shows up in their gallery app.
Did you flash a custom kernel that supports USB? If not head over to dev section and flash a kernel. Also use ES file explorer or anything else you may use and look in the usbOTG directory. Check to see if your camera images are in there.

I think it is not a problem with your update--hacked or not. It seems that being able to import photographs into gallery is problematic. It seems to work for only certain cameras, or is hit-or-miss at best. I hope this gets resolved soon. See this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1142257
I thought it might be my camera(Canon 5D) so I asked around and found people that have used that camera with the xoom successfully. I also tried a point-and-shoot(Canon Ixus 130) and it didn't work either. I also tried flashing Tiamat 1.1 and it didn't change anything. Think I'll try the Aussie stock 1.3 images that just came in and see if it does the trick.

Let us know if you have success. Good luck!
Flashed stock AU images, updated OTA to 3.1 and it did not help with either camera. Flashed back to stock 3.0.1 european, going to try Tiamat again today/tomorrow.

Hey, I've tried everything to get my Xoom to detect my Canon 5D but I can't find out what's wrong. The camera gets detected by the system if I check dmesg but it does not seem to work anyways. I've got the official camera connection cable and my camera is in PTP mode but still no luck. I have tried both custom kernels and official ones. If anybody has got any clue how to get this working then I would be very greatful.
While I have read that my camera (a Nikon D5000) supports similar functionality, I suggest buying a cheap SD to USB dongle. I just yank the SD from the camera, plug it in to the adapter and then connect that through the host mode cable. It works great that way. I use Astro to view the files as it has a built in image viewer which works great for this usage model.

I had the same problem with my t2i. i had rooted 3.1 and upgraded to tachi 3.2 with tiamat kernel and gallery wouldn't see my camera. the only thing that fixed it was to go back to 3.0.1 from motorola and relock then get the 3.1 ota update then the 3.2 ota update then unlock and root. i then flashed the tiamat kernel only(not rom) and it is working for me now. (locking/unlocking wipes everything)
I'm having problems trying to get my ffc to work. When I try to switch it in the camera app it just closes. I can't get it to work with Skype or qik either.
You caught me at a good time for this.
I just restored my primary backup from Clockworkmod, the one I made right after getting root and superuser access.
I tried again the camera, using the stock camera app, both front and rear facing and was able to take pictures without issue.
I switched to video mode and recorded video from both front and rear camera's as well without a problem.
I'm interested in learning more about the stock camera.apk and how it works, so tell me some more about your problem.
Did you S-OFF and root your device?
Have you removed any system apps that came pre-installed?
Have you downloaded any new apps from any marketplace, or sideloaded any onto the device?
Have you rebooted and tried again?
Have you had any other problems with your device?
Any other info you can think of that would help post it up here, and i'll see what I can find out for ya.
I have s-off and rooted it. I flashed the deodexed rom in the development section. I removed almost all bloatware. This problem has been going on even before I used the s-off tool and rooted
Given that information, it's possible that you could have a hardware problem. The fact that you say this was an issue before you did anything to the device suggests that.
I haven't messed with the deodexed rom yet, so i'm not sure what your file system looks like - might be possible that your camera.apk file was corrupted before you rooted it, maybe replacing it with a new copy is something worth looking into.
I'm not sure if the people not running the deodexed version could send you a proper camera.apk file now, any thoughts on this?
Several people in the CWM Flashable ICS ROM thread (including myself) are finding that USB Mounting/ADB does not work in ICS. Is anyone else having this issue? Specifically people who received the update OTA and non-rooted? It seems the Transformer recognizes that I have plugged in a USB cable, but the debugging icon never shows up, ADB reports no devices, and my computer acts as though nothing has been connected to it. I'm curious if this is a widespread ICS issue on the TF101, or just the specific ROM...

Updated from OTA here and USB flash mounts and works normaly. Can't test ADB right now.
I flashed both the FULL CWM US and WW versions today and found that USB is not working at all.
It'll freeze up for a second and then it'll go back to normal. --> no USB connection
I'll go back to stock 3.2.1 and update over OTA. I'll report back once I'm done!
---
Edit: Going back to stock and letting it do the update OTA works. USB is fully working now.

Are you rooted now also or just stock?
Wondering if it's the root that's breaking the USB connection.
Same problem here
I posted this in another thread earlier but it's a better fit here. I've tried the US and WW full flash versions on a WW TF today and haven't been able to mount via USB with either. Checking debugging doesn't help. Never had a problem previously.

I'm not having any issues with ADB or USB mounting on my TF.
daxtsu, are you unrooted or rooted? And how did you upgrade to ICS? Also, if you could please check under settings > Battery. On the right side, do you see "Battery Usage data not available"?
Nope, it's not the root breaking USB.
I rooted my B60 tablet after upgrading to ICS, it's working fine now!
This is what I did: I'm on ICS and USB is working fine.
Tutorial:
Step 1: Download the latest corresponding firmware for your tablet from the official Asus Website:
For example: UpdateLauncher_WW_epaduser8_6_5_21
http://www.asus.com/Eee/Eee_Pad/Eee_Pad_Transformer_TF101/#download
Unzip the file you have downloaded. Put the zip-file onto your external SD Card.
Step 2: Shutdown your tablet. Press VOLUME DOWN + POWER at the same time until your screen turns on. Then quickly press VOLUME UP.
You are in recovery mode now.
Do a factory reset.
Install the ZIP you downloaded from the ASUS website.
Step 3: Restart your tablet. Welcome back to Honeycomb! Set up your Wifi and let it download ICS over-the-air.
Step 4: Apply the ICS OTA update
Step 5: Your tablet will reboot a couple of times. Then: Welcome to ICS!
Choose your preferred rooting method!
Step 6: Root your tablet. I used "One Click Universal Root for Stock Firmware"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198303
Note that this only applies to tablets which are older than B70/80.
You may be successful using another rooting method.
Install CWM
Step 7: Do a factory reset through CWM!
Step 8: Enjoy! Please click "Thanks" if you found my post helpful. Post if you have any problems.

Yeah, I do get Battery usage data not available. But other than that, no USB issues.
What was your upgrade method? Did you download the OTA, or use one of the ROMS here on XDA?

At the moment I'm running a ROM I made myself. But before that I reverted completely to stock honeycomb .21(including recovery, then rooted) and then installed the OTA dlpkg. I didn't have any USB issues on HC, stock ICS, or my custom ICS.
It seems the USB issues are only for people who installed the CWM ICS version as opposed to taking the OTA. Now I just need to see if there will be a fix, or if it would be faster to go back to stock and then accept the OTA...

I was having the same issue and flashed the us ICS update from the link below and it started working. I flashed right on top of the current ICS i had installed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1334673
Throwing my voice in here. Used the CWM ICS ROM, no USB connection.
I'll try flashing the other US ICS on top of my ROM... see what happens... crossing my fingers... If this works, itohead will be getting my Thanks
I upgraded to ICS by first going back to stock HC via nandroid backup, then installing stock recovery, and pullin OTA update. No problems with the USB connection. ADB works fine. One thing however - my Vista-64 installed new drivers when I connected the tablet to it. So maybe the problem is on the Windows side? Check your drivers first.
Flashing that image over mine worked great!

After about 5-7 seconds of recording in 720p I was getting recording failed problems every time. It wasn't doing that before or at least not very often until recently. So I decided to update the camera firmware. I go to the camera firmware update screen by dialing *#*#34971539#*#* I selected phone to CAM FW Write and I go to update the firmware to version 2.0.3 it downloads up to 225/253 pieces then stops and says the update is a success, then it tells me to reboot. I reboot the phone with the volume down and power button, and I find out the camera firmware isn't installed properly. Now under camera info it is displaying.

I don't remember exactly what it said before but I know it said something different. The rear facing camera is now messed up and displaying green. This is happening with all the different camera apps that I tried on the market. I also did a factory reset, cleared the cache and wiped the data. Still I'm getting the same problem. The camera info is displaying the same thing to so I know for a fact that the factory reset didn't reset everything. Maybe someone here who has the same phone can help me out by dialing *#*#34971539#*#* and going to "Phone/CAM FW Ver Check." Tell me what it says if you don't know how to directly fix the problem. If someone here does know how to fix the problem it would be helpful though. I'm rooted and I'm currently running stock Froyo 2.2.1 if that helps.
Once I figured out how to root and flash with the Infuse, I didn't waste much time at all staying on Froyo. However, I've had video recording issues that ended up being caused by the kernel. I suppose it's possible that it could be an issue with the Froyo Community Kernel (I'm guessing/assuming that's how you rooted). Any particular reason you'd not want to just back up your apps and upgrade to Gingerbread?

I'm rooted and on gingerbread 2.3.6 now actually. It didn't fix the camera, but I'm able to go into the camera firmware settings and it's now showing

Every time I try to flash the firmware now it says "firmware update failed try again." I read somewhere that you have to remove the camera before doing a camera firmware update. I opened the phone up and it doesn't look like the camera can easily be removed and put back in.

I hate to keep harping on the same thing, but I'm not so sure it's a camera firmware issue, and you may be making a mountain out of a mole hill. If you happened to upgrade with Heimdall, and you're not already running one of them, it may be worth trying one of the kernels in this post, for ****s and giggles:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=23118144&postcount=2
I've never had any issue with the camera, aside from what was caused by a kernel, so aside from that advice, I've nothing else to offer. Good luck.
Hey guys,
Not sure when this started, but it wasn't like this out of the box...
At some point via an OTA update, I lost fast charge, I lost stereo sound from the USB c port (only plays left channel) and I can't connect my phone to a computer (yes, drivers etc are all in tact.. it's a software issue with USB on the phones ROM)
I managed to update via OTA to miui10 8.8.4 device ROM after a few tried (had to wipe).. issue still persists.
I've seen a few people mention this issue, but most responses are suggesting hardware replacement. I know for a fact the hardware is unaltered and was fine prior to update.
Anyone know a fix for this? It literally takes 8 hours to charge my phone ATM. Given I can't connect via USB, I can't unlock my phone and go custom ROM (I'm kinda liking miui 10 also)...
Any options asides from waiting for an OTA uodate?
Thanks
Bump!
Still have this issue. Anyone else?
I'm now on MIUI 10 (8.9.20) and problem still exists. Driving me crazy. My mi6 charges in no time at all. This mix 2s takes forever

Sounds bad. Some people also have problems with the front camera wich stopped working after an OTA Update.
Have you tried Clean flash a custom rom?
I cant flash custom rom, as i cant unlock bootloader - usb is not detecting. I am literally stuck on stock beta until it is fixed.
Yea sry i kinda failed to notice this point
Would it then be posible to flash a Recovery ZIP of an older Version of MIUI via the official MIUI updater app?.
Ps.. I dont have the Phone myself just trying to bring some ideas in.

Maybe you need to change a cable.
I have about 4 official cables abd 4 non official. Makes no difference. My mi6 still works as expected with the same cables.
It is a rom based problem.
Still not fixed . Absolutely ridiculous.i actually hate this phone because of this stupid software issue
